Based on this experience, I would not recommend doing business with him. I would not recommend buying a battery from this guy or having him install it. When the battery failed after only three months, it should have been replaced for free under warranty. However, because Scotty purchased it under his account, Advance Auto wouldn't replace it for me. Even though I had already removed the bad battery myself, he still tried to charge me $122 just to install the replacement. After making the purchase, he handed me a piece of paper that said my alignment was currently all out of whack, which would make my tires wear unevenly and void the warranty I had just given him $150 for, unless I got it fixed immediately (but I had just given him all the money I had available). My tires were worn unevenly when I arrived because of a previous alignment issue, but I paid a shop to fix this last year (which I told him), so this was entirely unexpected. I would not have bought the warranty if I they had mentioned this before I gave them all my savings. I might not have even bought a whole new set of tires until I could have gotten the alignment fixed. I also didn't feel respected generally during my visit as a young woman. I fumbled very briefly (~5 seconds) connecting the pen magnetically back to the top of the keypad after signing something, and he took it out of my hand and did for me (rude, first of all) and said "it's a magnet." in what I felt was a very demeaning way. I've heard good things about this shop in general, but my experience with Colton felt very scammy and disrespectful.

In this freezing weather, my car would not start today and I was uncertain if it might be the…read morealternator or the battery, though the battery is almost new. I took it to Jiffy Lube at 4425 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN (near 20 bypass) for free testing of the alternator and battery, and the service couldn't have been better or friendlier! The assistant manager, Fred, was very kind and explained exactly what they found or did not find. He and the other two employees discussed with me what might be causing the issue--a loose bolt on the negative terminal of the battery. It turned out it was neither my battery or the alternator, but apparently, this loose bolt, which was actually stripped--which Fred showed me. Fred installed the new part and my car started perfectly. He restarted it again to be sure. All in all, I was in the shop maybe half an hour at most, and it only cost $10! I highly recommend taking your car in to this Jiffy Lube and having these gentlemen take care of whatever basic automotive needs you might have!
