    Turkey Bacon Ranch

Awesome small local hoagie shop! I've been hearing so much about it, so I finally took a trip down Broadway Ave to visit. They have specialty features on their menu of options, as well as build your own hoagie. I chose the Turkey Bacon Ranch and my husband selected the Oktoberfest Sub. I could not believe how much sliced turkey they put on the homemade sandwich bun. Unlike other sandwich shops, they load it up and stack multiple layers of meat. Then the employee piled on 5 or 6 slices of crispy bacon. Swiss cheese and ranch dressing placed on top. I would have liked a little bit more ranch since there was so much meat it needed more to be tasted and add moisture to the hoagie. It was a great hoagie and extremely filling, I could only eat half for dinner and saved the rest! The bun was soft and flavorful, turkey was freshly sliced in front of me, and the bacon not too fatty. For $14 for a 12inch, you can't beat that deal for the high quality and large quantity!

I had heard about this place recently, and I was in the area today, so I stopped to check it out. This little market sells a small variety of food items, snacks, drinks, lottery, deli meats and cheeses, etc., but what it is known for, are their hoagies. They bake their own hoagie rolls in-house, and have a variety of named subs on their menu, plus a build-your-own option. These subs are sold for take-out and are served cold (not baked). I tried the namesake, "Tim's Italian," and it was very tasty, and hit the spot. The employee making the sandwich was very kind and courteous, and even offered to put the oil and vinegar on the side, since I told him I wasn't eating it right away. I look forward to coming back again sometime to try one of the other types of hoagies . . . Cheers! P.S. Located right next to Slice on Broadway, along the T-tracks. Free parking available in the lot behind the building.

This is the Broadway Ave Italian. Very good hoagie. They also make their bread in house fresh. I get it without the cherry pepper relish and I also add RWV as it only comes with oil on it. Solid 9/10 sandwich.

Amazing sandwiches. Great little place with excellent service. This place has a great vibe like a solid New York City corner market.

Big awesome sandwiches served up by the nicest folks. Had an Italian and turkey bacon ranch. Can't wait to go again and try more.

I had to stop into Fredo's after seeing photos from my daughter who had just spent two weeks in Bosnia. The interior of Fredo's is like stepping into a small shop you'd find in Bosnia. The yellow walls are welcoming, and cozy. There's a small variety of snacks, and beverages on one side of the shop, and a large counter where you'd place your order. There are a few tables for dining in, but I chose to take my order home. I ordered a small Cevapi and Sirnica, plus picked up some Croatian chocolate for dessert. The Cevapi were delicious skinless beef and veal sausages, that were nicely savory and well browned. A cup of chopped onions, and what I think was a yogurt sauce came with my Cevapi which added more flavor and an overall goodness to the Cevapi. A bread similar to a pita made eating Cevapi easy, and filling. The Sirnica was equally delicious. A wonderful mix of flaky, chewy phyllo pastry, and cheese baked inside the pastry. It definitely hit the spot with a nice balance of a light pastry and mild cheese. I ate the leftover half cold, and it was just as good! The lady at the counter was friendly, and patient with me. The menu is truly a deli menu full of sandwiches, salads, and appetizers. If you're wanting to go for the House Specials, you won't be disappointed!

They have a couple of tables inside for dining and we chose the one closest to the coffee bar. The one employee there took our order and made our food right next to us at the counter/kitchen set up located behind the register. We did see several takeout orders get picked up while we were there. My mom had the gyro salad and I ordered an Italian with no onions or dressing. My mom was disappointed that the "greens" were actually chopped romaine and/or iceberg. The gyro meat was flavorful and had a nice crisp to the outside and the homemade dressing was delicious. The Italian was also decent. I'm picky when it comes to hoagie rolls and this baguette was soft and fresh. I typically prefer more of a crisp exterior, but this was fine. The meat and toppings were fresh and the sandwich was served with a small bag of Lay's on the side. Overall, we had a nice experience dining in the small deli, but with so many options in the Pittsburgh area, I can't say we were wowed enough to be repeat customers.

I'd rather drive out of state than have to cross a bridge and tunnel to get somewhere so I only stopped twice when at a nearby meeting. Decades back, my best friend lived right up the street. This was practically an extension of their own house. They were there often. Often is an understatement. I'd get off from work and knew where I could find friends. Here. I'd often stop and pick up something on my way home to the South Side Slopes. I recognize that its been a long, long time since I lived in the Southern Side of the city. I haven't been here regularly in years. I still enjoy stoping by. The last few times, the service was - I hate to say this- not good. I really do hate to say that. The reason people loved this place was because Louie, Toni, & their staff were friendly and made it an experience. Long gone are staff that made anyone in Pgh feel welcome. The last 2 stops in, I felt like an inconvenience. My orders weren't correct each time. One was a to go order. I specifically asked for things to be done a certain way because I was ordering for my husband & kids. I chalked it up to the time of day & blamed myself. I did not look it over since I was trying to beat traffic... this is a classic place. It has to be me. Not them. I had an hour break and decided to stop in. Again, staff ignored me when I ordered. It took up that entire time to get served. It was awkward. My meal was lackluster, at best. My mind wants to believe in this place and that their stuffed bananas, zucchini and chicken sandwiches will never change- but I think they have. At this point, I don't see myself going anytime soon intentionally. If a friend were to ask us to join them, I would.
