i brought in my Jeep the brakes were making a noise and having a difficult time driving forward at times. It was as if something was locking up the brakes, so I brought it in. Eric the owner put a new master cylinder in and said there was a lot of build up on one rotor. Took care of all of it and now it drives great and no more high pitched noise. They were able to get me in the same day. They were very friendly and honest and upfront. I would definitely recommend if you want an honest mechanic to come to Baker Road automotive. A lot of places will rip you off in this place is very honest. They actually have a sign up in their lobby that says Baker Road automotive is committed to an ethical auto repair. First day of the year to turn our AC on for our 2015 Buick Enclave and discovered it was just barely cool. This was at 2:30 pm and we are leaving at the crack of dawn for a long road trip tomorrow. First called our mechanic of 18 years to find out he just retired, but the new owner could not get us in. We then called Buick, which was a $300 diagnostic fee plus a bunch of other add-on union costs that they refused to guestimate. Then we remembered we have driven by Baker Automotive thousands of times but never thought to go there because we have not had AC problems and had a mechanic ... They were super nice in the phone and said they would get us in despite them closing at 6 pm. When I got there I was surprised to see they are full automotive repair and asked if they could also do an oil change, but only if they had time. They got both done in maybe just over an hour. The mechanic then explained in simple terms how the AC is designed, there is a design flaw, and that there was a recall that they could not verify if it was done. I really like this place. It is so hard to find a mechanic you can trust (a 4.9 rating on Google for 100+ reviews). They are local and prices reasonable ($331 for AC and synthetic oil). Plus they got me in and quickly. Five star service all around, and it turns out, we have a new mechanic. read more

My old (1997) Ford Escorts brake lights were stuck on. I called Baker Road and the squeezed me in to look at the situation. Knowing that it was the brake light switch they were on a somewhat challenge to find the part. Successfully the part was delivered later that day and was installed the following morning. These people are amazing. I've been going to them for the last five years when I moved back to Minnesota. My 94 year old mother recommended them and she knows that they are honest (I agree) and does not hesitate to contact them with any concerns she may have on her Lexus. read more

Great customer service and quality repair and parts. I had to engine components leaking. I normally have a friend/shade tree mechanic do all my work but he said that he wouldn't have the proper parts for one of the repairs. Friendly and courteous. I have used them a few times over the past decade, but unfortunately I didn't have a great experience recently. I towed my car to their shop to fix an issue with my ignition lock. They told me they could take a look and get me an estimate by the morning of the next day. I had to call them and they then told me they couldn't even look at it until around "lunch time". I didn't even have an idea of the cost yet, and they had my car for over a day. I ended up calling a locksmith to fix my car in their parking lot. They should have just told me to get a locksmith to begin with since they were already aware they wouldn't be able to resolve the issue as quickly as a locksmith would have. Don't use their services if you require prompt service or pro-active communication. read more

Heighly recommend this shop to anyone!! I do a lot of my own auto repairs at home, but occasionally I don't have the time or tools and need a mechanic shop. We just moved to the state and after a year of trial and error I have found our mechanic. If you want honest answers and quality repairs at the lowest cost this is the place for you. Nothing but good things to say about this shop. My Acura was leaking large amounts of oil, and had some additional issues with tail lights and brake lights. It's an older car that I plan on selling soon, so the thought of having to pay significant amounts of money to get it fixed was off putting. I called this shop and Rick (I believe is who I spoke with) talked through the issues with me and made it clear that he understood my desire to minimize costs. Coming from Houston where mechanics can be predatory in up-selling, these guys restored my trust, or at least they definitely earned it. They found the issue with the leak, called back with an estimate for all the work that I was comfortable with. Prior to starting the work I remembered I had purchased a small part that would take me 20-25 minutes to replace, but would take less than 5 minutes for a pro to change. I (boldly) asked if they would mind doing it complimentary for me. They said that they will take a look at what it entails, and if it is what I said it is in terms of time for them, then it would not be a problem. Long story short, not only did they replace the part for free, but my final balance due was $50 less than what I was told... I don't think that ever happens. I was recommended this place by my father in-law, and I will happily recommend this place to all my friends/family. I drove from Minneapolis out to their shop, and will continue to do so in the future because of the fantastic customer service, quality work, and extremely reasonable pricing. read more

I reserved a budget truck well in advance. I arrived to pick it up, and they did not have it. Fee was to be $114. They tried to rent me a smaller truck for $189! Wayne, the employee was doing his best until the owner,(Mr. Delatori?) came in. He was rude, and when I got upset he told the employee not to rent me a truck at all and left the room! He was so rude I have never experienced such customer service. I was very upset, and I don't think he liked me telling him that he should fix this mess for me, so he decided to make me beg for the truck. As a result, this cost me two trips in a move, twice the gas, and more money! I truly think this owner could have cared less. He could have discounted the truck or given it at no charge, but instead he used my urgency to his advantage to get money from me because he knew I could not get a truck elsewhere the same day. In fact, I learned later that they don't even have the size truck that they reserved for me in their inventory! I would personally never do business with them again, and would recommend you use caution if you decide to take the risk in dealing with them. Very shifty operation from my experience. read more
