If I had to give a one word review it would be: integrity. Call it a hunch if you will; my experience with them has been a couple of light maintenance visits, and some very valuable diagnostic information. As well as a number of visits to their drive through car wash. I've quickly gained confidence in their service and their advice, and I'd highly recommend them.

Not only did he call with a very precise estimate before working on my car but he called me again with other things he found asking if I'd like to fix them. For once I did not get ripped off!! I drive a VW so the cost to do anything is always a chunk of change but I did not gasp when I was told the total repair costs. Very friendly and very prompt service. I asked about a fuel filter that Precision Tune suggested I get replaced and Troy did that for me for $70 CHEAPER than Precision Tune quoted me. HELLO?! I will always support small businesses over large chains. The little guy is a person....probably someone that lives by you that cares. Thanks again guys!!

I've been his customer for a number of years, and every job he's done on my truck has been top notch. I have a story to emphasize his honesty. I recently had a few "nagging issues" that I asked him to estimate for me. One of the issues, a loss of fluid problem, was initially estimated well north of a $1,500 dollars to fix. The truck has over 300,000 miles on the clock, so you sort of expect those things, but this one was "one I could live with", so I deferred that repair until my budget would allow. Meanwhile Ray had the truck for another issue "in the vicinity" of that loss of fluid problem. Contrary to his original diagnosis, his other work around that problem area uncovered a hidden loosened tubing connector. A couple of wrench turns (free gratis), and we're able to discard that expensive estimate. I've been in shops before where I might have never been informed of that discovery, and would have paid for the original estimate.

Journey Auro Repair is the same company as Kurth's Auto Repair according to my receipt. The…read moresynthetic oil change coupon for $49.97 is a scam, as they charged $92.49 then subtracted $20 for the coupon - with no explanation other than I approved a charge of $10 when I left my vehicle for their up-charge for a better oil filter. So $60 + tax is what the bill should have been. So there is about a $10 charge that they just added on. They also said my vehicle needed $1,000+ work, but when I declined and tried to print that quote, it would not print or give me details anymore. They also would not print it for me. They wanted me to approve work without letting me have a printed copy of their quote with the descriptions. When I went outside to find my car, it was no where to be seen. They had it parked about a block away! They don't have enough space to give good service. They don't want to schedule appointments but rather have you leave your car in the morning. They did offer a ride because I live close, but that doesn't make up for the frustration of not honoring the $49.97 coupon and not giving me a printed copy of the $1,000+ work they wanted me to approve and sign. My experience today was enough that I will not be going back to Journey/Kurth's Auto Repair.

John the rude and incompetent manager: I've been going to…read moreCarX in Robbinsdale for 20 years for repairs to my work van. 7/28/25, I brought it in and met John, the manager for new tires and to find an AC leak. He filled the van with freon but failed to find the leak and said to bring it back if there were more problems. When I went to pick up the van it was undriveable as antifreeze was leaking from the van (it never had leaked before). John refused to take responsibility for the leak and said the radiator must have failed coincidentally while they were working on it. The van had work 4 weeks earlier and John suggested that it was probably damaged four weeks earlier when I had the struts replaced with a different mechanic. I think that's ridiculous that antifreeze would just start leaking four weeks later when they happen to be working on it. I had questions but did not pursue the issue further and had to pay for a new radiator. The freon continued to leak and I brought it in 3 more times over the summer for the same issue. On September 26th I brought the van in in the morning for the 3rd time and John called back at 3:00 pm told me we'd have to reschedule as they were too busy, even though I had an appointment, and my van had been there all day (cost me $25 in Uber fees for no reason) 10/3/25, I returned for my 4th and final appointment to have the AC leak repaired. After a full day, John explained that they found the leak finally, but that they still would not be able to fix it that day as they needed parts, and he suggested that I get the parts myself as it would be cheaper. I had the feeling John was unable to deal with this issue and was blowing me off. I asked John if he would fill the freon again, as after 4 failed attempts and paying $200 to fix the issue, it was still blowing warm air. John became angry and suddenly hung up on me! I was taken aback and called him back immediately. I said we must have been cut off, and he said stated: "No, I hung up on you, and to be honest I really don't ever want to do business with you again". He said I blamed them for the radiator leak earlier in the year (even though I really hadn't and dropped the issue that day). He said he'd fill the freon again but to never come back! I did get upset and raised my voice and expressed my displeasure with his total incompetence, and rude behavior. I picked up my van that day and the issue I paid for (leaking AC) remains unresolved to this day. I don't think it was unreasonable to ask for freon again, considering the circumstances. I've never been so insulted before in dealing with a business. I suggest you just go to another place for service on your vehicle and save the hassle or risk similar incompetence and rude behavior. (Note: The other "technicians", were very kind, professional, and nice people. John clearly was the problem) Post Owner Response addition) 1st: I dropped my van off in the AM, John, your rude incompetent manager called me AFTER THE WORK WAS DONE and told me the antifreeze started leaking AFTER THE WORK! I didn't stay there during repairs and the van WAS NOT leaking and never had prior to dropping it off 6 hours earlier with your worthless and incompetent workers. So let's put that nonsense to rest NOW. 2nd: I paid you to find an AC leak. Your idiots are too incompetent to do that so they just kept refilling it (3 times total after 4 trips) because had you fixed it the 1st time, you wouldn't have had to refill the Freon an additional 2 times RIGHT ? I suggest you and your incompetent boys find another line of business, and that customers find somewhere else.

This business has now been purchased by Golden Valkey Tire. I brought my personal vehicle here right after the transition, before I realized what was different. I had a fine experience and got quoted slightly above competitors for some repairs. The experience was reasonable overall, although I did feel like everyone behind the front desk was really judging me for not wanting to proceed with some repair options that I were presented to me. I came back a few weeks later with company vehicles since my employer had used this place in the past, and the vibe had deteriorated so much more. This truly is a Golden Valley Tire owned operation and it's not good. Things went wrong from the scheduling of the appointment. The person on the other end of the line was completely fumbling through the system and muttering to himself. He couldn't figure out how to get things to save even. Of course he didn't tell me that though, so when I showed up there was no appointment. I gave them the simple instruction to give the vehicle an oil change so that it would be ready to pick up later. They emailed me a full inspection report which was thorough and detailed, but guess what? They didn't do the oil change. I guess they wanted some sort of approval, but it was a busy work day and if I tell them it's the only reason for my visit I expect it to get done and the vehicle to be ready when I come to pick it up. This place is a mess right now. I hope they can find a way to improve, I understand transitions can be hard, but...proceed with caution if you're considering being a customer here.

Because of this, the caliper pin backed out while driving, got severely bent, and ground heavily against my wheel and wheel skin. This could have caused a catastrophic brake failure or locked up my wheel at high speed. A mistake like this is a massive safety violation.

Everything was perfect during his time.He really gave attention to his customers and was very helpful. I needed a transmission service last month so with the past good experiment I came to this place, again. My car stayed there all day and then they told me that I did need a transmission service. The front desk person told me that, they can rebuild the transmission with the cost of $ 4100. I asked him if they can find an used transmission and then install it. He told me ,sorry there isn't any used transmission they can find. I asked him, if I find a used one and they can install; he said they don't do that.7 So, his goal was to rebuild the transmission and charge me $ 4100 +. I didn't follow his advice and left. Then, I found a used transmission in Wisconsin online, bought it and delivered it for $ 800. I went to my mechanic garage, they did a fantastic job and replaced the transmission. It was $ 1500 total, part+labor. I saved lots of money and my car is running perfectly on the road. I will never go for any service to Transmission Service store again. Unless, Russ decides to come back.

I have been going to Nghia's for the past 3 years. Most recently, my car smelled like fumes and was making a weird noise. When I called the shop he asked if I had been eating burritos. I absolutely love Nghia's sense of humor and personality. I dropped it off at Nghia's at 6:00pm and at 7:25pm he called to let me know the issues and what it was going to cost. (Note that he called me after hours to let me know! They close at 7:00pm!) My car was ready to pick up by noon the next day. Nghia knew I was going to pick my kids up from daycare after getting my car back and as I was leaving he gave me treats to give to my children. Nghia is knowledgeable, honest, and fairly priced. we had taken our escape in and i am glad that we did. Before we even stepped inside the building, and we were only there for a control arm, he had said right away that our converter was plug before we could tell him why we there. We had him just work on the control arm and we also had him do an oil change the oil drain plug. He is such a really good person and very easy to talk to and he made us feel welcome. And i am glad that he was recommended to us and we will always use him. I am really happy that if i have an issue with my Smart car, i can call on him to fix it for us. I've used Nghia for many years and my father used him before me (still does). I love going to his place, he is always happy and friendly. He has went out of his way multiple times for me to help out, including but not limited to driving me home, finding better priced parts, giving me options and honest opinions. If I am not satisfied he has made sure to correct and go above and beyond. I've had many cars and often diagnosis's are trial and error and he has on numerous occasions had me drive my vehicle until confident all issues are resolved before making me pay. Nghia is probably one of the friendliest people I have ever met when it comes to getting cars looked at. Not only was he friendly and precise with his diagnostic on my vehicle but he was very entertaining as well. My wife and I felt at home while our car was being looked at. We shared several laughs and before you know he was able to tell me exactly what was wrong with my car and how much (GREAT PRICES) it will cost to get my car running in TOP shape for the winter. My family and I have used this mechanic for the last six years and he is by far the most reasonable mechanic. He will get your car back on the road for as little as possible and never try to add any unnecessary repairs. Nghia is a funny man and really cares about the neighborhood. He may not be the fastest mechanic, but he is absolutely the best mechanic! As he says "I can get your car done right, I can get your car done cheap, and I can get your car done fast. Massive praise for Nghia's fairly priced and excellent service. It's truly amazing what his mechanics can get done in one day. They have done everything from a complete rebuild of the suspension on my '99 3 Series BMW to tighten the gas cap (at no charge) because my check engine light was on. I shouldn't say this but however much money he makes, it's not enough. Because not only are they excellent mechanics, incredibly fast and totally reliable, he charges about half of what other local service shops charge. Thank you, Nghia! read more

I've been going to Nghia for almost 2 years now and he's amazing. He has very reasonable prices along with great service. He knows exactly what's wrong with my vehicle and fixes it in a timely manner. Other mechanics have told me things were wrong with my car just to have me spend more money but Nghia is honest and loves what he does. Nghia is by far the fastest most reliable mechanic I have ever met! I went to a few other mechanic shops and got quotes on my car repairs and it was sky high! Nghia came highly recommended by a motorhead friend of mine who brings all of his cars here. After my engine ceased up, Nghia brought my truck back to life. He explored replace or rebuild options and then determined to rebuild my engine and also performed assorted other fixes to my 2007 Tahoe. He lent me a car during this arduous repair. Great business, great service. I had my Honda transmission rebuilt in 2006 and it was a very reasonable price. Like the other reviewer said, there might be a very minor issues that he is happy to fix for free. He runs a tip-top shape business. Very professional mechanic. Don't be surprised if he makes a joke about your car going to cost you a fortune, and then comes back with a minor fix and cost. :) read more

We got the car in and the owner was able to fully diagnose, quickly order parts to be delivered, and completely fixed our issue in hardly more than an hour when we were thinking we would have to rent a car to get home, or get a hotel for the night.
