I had a couple of board dings and reading that any open ding can impact the long-term durability of my new surfboard, I had 3 options: 1. Put in some SolarCrap (always a short-term measure) 2. Have it professionally repaired ($50-75) 3. Head to Blue Room and learn how to fit it myself, while fixing it myself for $50 If I were stupid, lazy or both, a forth option is do nothing. I am glad that 3 is my lucky number and I drove out a little further than my local repair store for the Blue Room experience. I found Mitch's dedication to quality and community refreshing and his business practice thrives with aloha. The processing of learning how to fix the board was super cool. The icing on the board, so to speak, was some excellent dark beer after a great fix up job. I found it such a great experience that I ended up buying a really cool board there too that another of his customers had recently made. Please feel free to bring good quality beer with you and sure Mitch will partake after getting your hands dirty working on your board. Don't get me wrong, they have tons of dive gear and will help you find the right gear for what you do and will help you get the right fit, but they also have a huge retail space. It's not crowded and it's easy to see everything. It makes it super comfortable and easy to take your time. They also offer swimming lessons for the super young through adult. And if you want to take a dive class, they offer both technical and recreational classes. The pool is on site too. The parking lot is huge. GPS takes you to the wrong side of the building, so take the road down to Midway and turn from that side. Enter in the first entryway-the others are blocked off.

Pretty straight forward trail with lots and lots of up and down sections. I only go up about two miles although the trail does continue all the way to the KST ridge. I just find a nice open area for some views, then turn back. Great views when you break out of the pine and strawberry guava forests. I picked a lot of strawberry guava here two weeks ago; it was kinda tart unlike many other forests. This hike is about 3+ hours roundtrip. Mostly shaded, very little mud (nice to have a dry trail once in a while), great views of Honolulu and the Waianaes, and very few hikers on the trail. Enjoy.

It was a complimentary tour--his third time refining the experience before officially offering it to the public--and it far exceeded our expectations. Kamaka has a relaxed, engaging, and easy-to-understand presentation style that made the three-hour stop-and-go tour both enjoyable and informative. Throughout the walk, he shared historical photographs that beautifully illustrated how Hawaiʻi has changed over time. He also provided QR codes at various stops, allowing us to continue learning more about each topic on our own. Such a thoughtful touch! What stood out most was Kamaka's genuine passion for his Hawaiian heritage. His extensive research was evident, and he shared fascinating historical facts alongside heartfelt stories from his beloved Tutu, who was born in 1916.
