We had the absolute best time on our tour with Roy J, aka RJ, aka Cousin! At first, we were a little concerned that an 8-hour tour might feel too long, but RJ made sure it was anything but boring. He kept us entertained with his humor, educated us with fascinating insights, and kept us engaged the entire time. One of the things we appreciated most was that he gave us space to explore every destination while still making the experience feel seamless. We were traveling with older family members as well as my young daughter, and somehow, RJ managed to connect with everyone--from our 7-year-old to our 70-year-old mother-in-law. Echoing what Andrea V. said elsewhere, HawaiiTours.com appears to specialize in booking tours, not remitting funds for the actual tour, and waiting until the last minute to inform you that there are no slots available. In our case, we booked a luau and were only informed the evening before our flight -- when it was too late to arrange anything else -- that suddenly "there are no slots available" (but they of course had already charged us). While we did eventually receive a refund, we were still stiffed of our planned Christmas luau experience for my 7 year old through seemingly bad inventory management and travel arrangement by the company, well too late to make alternative arrangements. read more

When they did reply and book our flights, we realized a few weeks later that they cancelled the flights with no explanation or notification and attempted to request us to pay a deposit again. We never received any confirmation that any of the other elements of our trip were booked. They are incredibly unprofessional and unresponsive. They are a scam. When I requested a refund, they stated we would have a travel credit to use within 1 year for the thousands of dollars we paid and refused to refund us. DO NOT USE! We booked a Luau in Kauai in October of 2025. I booked for 7 people and it came up to $800. When our trip finally arrived, we then received an email from the Luau company only 2 weeks prior to our Luau, stating that the tours company had not paid them the $800 for our Luau and that we would have to repay if we still wanted to keep our reservation. Normally, it it was only $100 or so, I may not have cared to re-pay, but paying $800 twice is not OK! I then went down to their office while I was on the island, and they said sorry.. there was nothing they could do because they did not have access to the books stating if we had paid or not. I even offered to show them my receipt, and it was a no. IF they actually cared to make it right, they could have just give us a Luau tickets despite the mixup on their end, but NO... they did nothing to make it right. I would have been better off booking directly though the company. I'm now out $800 and didn't get to attend a LUAU while on vacation. read more

I booked a tour months in advance but requested to change the date 8 weeks prior. I left a message with no response so 2 days later I sent an email. This first email was returned with an alternate date and time but once I responded to it I was ignored until I sent a follow up. By that time, they had filled the date they offered me as an alternate. So now we're stuck in limbo, not knowing if we will find a date that works or have to cancel altogether. I won't say this place is a total scam but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT BOOKING anything through this company. We booked a horseback tour through them at Jurassic Park at an 8AM time slot with no instruction that our check in time was actually 7:15 AM. HUGE DIFFERENCE! We missed our tour because there was no instruction on what time we needed to be there and since we booked through this company there was nothing the park could do to change our tour time and/or date so we had to eat $300+ dollars. Called the company to try and change the tour date/time per Jurassic Parks instruction and they said there's nothing they can do and was like welp, sorry. I will simply tell you our experience. First they quoted the whole trip for $10,000, but when I itemized the trip it only totaled $6000. Didn't book whole trip with them, but did book a couple of tours to give them some business. All the other tours we booked, confirmed with us, sent us an itinerary and sent us our tickets. We Booked and pre-paid for transportation to and from the Jurassic Park Experience. our pick up from our hotel to Kualoa Ranch was perfect. The pick up from the ranch to our hotel was terrible. Our driver was so rude saying he waited for 40 min. We literally got done with the tour and walked out to where he was. He arrived when we still had 40 min. Left of our tour. He was yelling at us and saying we owe him $100 because he had to wait. We had Pre-paid through Hawaiian Tours weeks ago so we absolutely did not owe anyone any money. We were forced to pay extra money to Hawaiian Tours after we were dropped off. From Waikiki to the ranch was $114 each way again we had already pre-paid . Do NOT book through Hawaiian Tours because you will have to pay extra if your driver arrives before your tour or excursion is complete and you will be verbally assaulted by the driver. I am not happy at all and I do not feel safe with this driver who verbally assaulted us and is totally speeding right now. His car is literally telling him to slow down. It was Hawaiian Tours poor planning and we had to pay for it. Shame on you Hawaiian tours. We booked the Ultimate Big Island Overnight Volcano Adventure. Wow that trip sounded amazing. We hope when we come back that we do get to experience it the way it was intended. We did not get what we booked unfortunately. As amazing as the staff was, and they really are amazing, we came up short on our trip to the The Big Island. We did not stay on the rim of the volcano like we expected nor did we get an expert guide for Volcano National Park like we expected. What we did experience however, was the true Aloha nature of the wonderful staff. One person in particular that went above and beyond was Alex. When she finally realized the issues with the reservation, she did everything she could to accommodate us. It unfortunately was not enough to be able to overcome the issues with the booking. As customers that live in Hawaii, it was wonderful to see the Aloha spirit alive and well within this company and the staff. Staff is 5 stars. Booking issues would be 1 star. I felt they averaged out at 3 stars. I hope we can try again someday. read more

Most unprofessional tour company ever. First no reply on several mail asking for pickup details ( I had to call from Germany to sort that out) At the day of pick up driver did not show up at pick up point, we were there waiting for 80 minutes. At the phone they tried several excuses why it was all our fault, than they hung up. Later they came up with another fairy tale : "The driver came back and talked to everyone at the pick up area, the driver was at your hotel..." Well, we where at the pick up point for about 80 minutes and another our Hotel later, without any one showing up. Of course they have to say so to avoid refund. I was not surprised looking at all the negative reviews. First, Hawaii tours is more pricey and inflexible. My boyfriend and I are both local residents and he's military the discount outside of Hawaii Tours was about $200 off at the Kualoa Ranch. Once we realized this we asked for the same discount or a refund and both were refused. They also will not provide refunds in the case you are unable to do the tour (in our case the biking tour). For a company providing Hawaii experiences, no Aloha at all. Stay far far away from this company and support the local companies directly! read more

We had an exceptional experience with Hawaii Tours on our visit, and recommend them highly. We visited four islands, and every part of our trip was without a single hitch. Air reservations, airport transfers, transfers to and from our many (we tried to do everything) excursions were seemless. And these were just the little things that you might not think of! We were whisked from one activity to another on time, every time, and we greatly enjoyed the company of each driver. I don't know how you pull that off consistently on four different islands, but Hawaii Tours handled everything flawlessly. Beyond the mechanics of being easily whisked from one place to another, the excursions and accomodations were terrific. As noted, we tried to do everything. Hiking, snorkeling, manta rays, Road to Hana, island tours, Kilauea, Pearl Harbor, Haleakala, luaus, and the list could go on. They were great fun, and our guides were top notch. They knew the people and the history, and were incredibly informative and professional. We have had the good fortune to travel much of world. Some tour operators have been better than others. This company advertised a stargazing tour on the Big Island of Hawaii, but actually gave it to a subcontractor. There was ZERO communication between Hawaii Tours and the sub. The two companies provided completely different info on pick up details with Hawaii Tours giving us wrong info across the board. We wound up waiting an hour for our pick up - good thing they didn't give us a time that was an hour later! Tour was not as advertised - we were supposed to visit a coffee farm on the way and have a BBQ. Instead, they took us to a restaurant that served truly awful food. AVOID! I booked a manta ray evening snorkel tour in May 2023 had a miserable experience. The manta rays did not show up on our tour -- we stopped at multiple locations waiting for the manta rays, where the waves were extremely choppy and the size of the boat was tiny. This caused my friend and I seasickness and we suffered from high fever + nausea for days following the boat tour. While they offer a rebooking policy, we were too sick to reschedule with the company for the remainder of our time on the island. This experience ruined my entire trip and I was too ill to participate in any other physical activities. Used Hawaii Tours to book inter island flights, tours, activities, and transportation for my two week Hawaii Anniversary vacation. The team was available the entire trip to answer questions and accommodate last minute changes. I was pleasantly surprised and how professional, courteous and timely the team was. Having them manage the transportation to and from each event was a God send and mostly seamless. The activities and tours they booked for us were spaced with our agenda and requests in mind. Somehow we always seemed to have the best seats/perks/accommodations. All we did was show up with our confirmation numbers and we were always on the list ! ****BUYER BEWARE****Our family of 6 booked an ATV tour from this website almost 5 months in advance. Little did we know they are just brokers for the companies that provide the service. 2 months before our trip we received a very ambiguous text from a Hawaii number that said "our ATV tour may need to be changed". We replied to the text without a response. We sent an email asking for clarification without a response. We continued to receive emails from Hawaii tours confirming our ATV trip had not changed. A day before we were supposed to go on our tour we got a call from the ATV company saying we missed our reservation! I called Hawaii tours and after a 30 minute discussion they transferred me to the representative who managed our reservations, the same person who sent us the text several months prior. I asked the representative for any proof that our reservation was changed. She ultimately hung up the phone. I called back and spoke with their supervisor and the best they could do was refund our money a day before we were supposed to go on our ATV tour. AGAIN, this is just an agency staffed with employees who get a commission for booking activities and trips for the actual companies. Took the big island Hawaii all day tour from Oahu 4/1/22. Tour guide was a half hour late to meet us at the airport. There was no apology or excuse. It was a bad start. I believe we saw everything that was expected that day. However, the tour guide simply sat in his van at every stop. Guide was silent for much of the ride, had to be constantly drawn into conversation. More could have been learned with a more knowledgeable and involved guide. He actually suggested "google it" when asked for more info. He seemed to be more of a van driver, not a true guide. This was the best tour in my life! Kevin was a wealth of knowledge and shared so many facts about Waimea Canyon and many other points of interest along the route. We started in Kapa'a and drove around Kauai to Waimea Canyon. Kevin informed us about every nook and cranny along the way as well as interesting facts about the Hawaiian language, culture, etc. I could have stayed on the tour 24 hours with him, it was that enjoyable. I would not recommend this company. The tour is not what they describe on their website. It is not a guided tour you basically just get a driver for the day. I could have booked my own inter-island flight and rented a car and got the same experience. Due to poor planning on the companies part we had to wait 2 hours for pick up after our flight landed and then we're almost an hour late starting due to the flights they booked the other couple on our tour, at one point our guide decided we would just dtart the tour since he didnt know whatbwas going on woth the other couple (there was no communication from his company to him) only for us to have to turn around 15 minuteslater when his boss called amd told him to go back and wait for the other people. I understand they deserve to get their tour as well but it should have been a situation where the company put them with the next group starting or sent our another guide for them. We were only given about 45 minutes at Pearl Harbor and you only get to visit the USS Arizona. There are several tours given at some of the stops (Pineapple plantation for example) that are not included in the booking of this tour but would be what you expect to do to actually experience that stop. My family booked a "Road to Hana" tour for 5 last week in Maui. Cost $1100. We were picked up 30 mins late without a call/text/email notification; the luxury vehicle was a beat up airport shuttle van; the "tour guide" was completely inexperienced and unknowledgeable about any historical or area facts; we were not shown many "must sees" (told 'too crowded' or 'too far' or 'need reservations'). What????? I could go on and on...It's as if someone did not show up for work that day and they picked some random anybody and said "drive these people to Hana and back." I actually feel scammed. There's nothing to see out there. Taking sharp turns in a car all day, we were motion sick all day. It was awful. That was definitely the worst $1k spent in my entire life. Also u waste a lot of time at the airport for a 1day trip. The agents are useless I was begging to be booked a flight to come back to Oahu earlier. Had pay it out of pocket. If you're looking for a tour company to show you the islands then these folks are five star PLUS. I work for a travel company leading tours for high school students and have used Hawaii Tours twice. Both times, their service went above and beyond expectations. Moa customized tours for both groups which ranged in size from 23 - 32 people. He always responded to our questions, concerns, and semi-emergencies (real or imagined!). Most importantly, they provided us with possibly (probably) the best guide in the islands, Kelili. He is super knowledgeable about anything and everything Hawaiian. Our tours were focused on World War 2 and Polynesian culture and Kelili's knowledge really enriched our experience and contributed to a better understanding of these subjects. Kelili is friendly, adaptable and flexible - helping us to make several changes to our itinerary at the last moment, had a great rapport with everyone on the tours, was always calm despite the chaos involved in moving large groups around and keeping everyone happy (esp. teenagers), has a great sense of humor and a pretty good singing voice too (he may or may not take requests!). As an example of the level of service this company and Kelili provide, when we were in Oahu in March 2020, COVID was shutting things down and the Paradise Cove Luau we had planned to attend closed. Kelili and his family provided us with our own luau. They provided the food and Kelili's family provided the entertainment - drums and fire dancing! That's Next Level - so do your self a favor and book your tour with these folks and make sure you ask for Kelili if you need a guide - he's the best! read more
