It was quaint , small. Limited menu. Expected more selection of small plates and appetizers. We got the Greek cheese plate and the crab toast. I may repeat customer to this location. The food is absolutely phenomenal. In my opinion is some of the best food you can get in a 50 to 75 mile radius. That is being very conservative. It is a friendly environment the services very fast however not too fast. You never feel rushed in this place cocktails are great. Ok let's face it, there are not a lot of great dining choices beyond bar food in Morgantown WV - especially in the summer when the campus is closed. We stumbled on Tin 202 and had a decent experience. Service by William was excellent - he went out of his way to be attentive and make sure we were happy. We also like the ambiance of the dining room and the bar. Cocktails were cheap! Old Fashion and Eagle Rare on the rocks were only $9 each! Pretty good wine by the glass list. Quite a deal. We started with the deviled eggs and a cup of the chili. Both were fine, but would probably only order the eggs on a return. My wife had the lamb kefta and Brussel sprouts. They tasted fine, but she had some major heartburn later that night (probably just her sensitivity to grease vs. the lamb). I sampled the Duck Leg Confit and have to say it was pretty disappointing. Kind of overcooked and not very flavorful. Not to be insulting, but I have had better duck I have purchased and cooked at Costco myself. Let's start with the Drinks Being this is a craft cocktail bar, I was disappointed to learn that they didn't have ingredients to make a cosmopolitan. Second choice glass of Pinot. They were out. Then for the food- I've had Tapas style selections all over the world. These portions were extremely....SMALL. The Pork Belly was 2 small slivers of meat. If 6 stars were an option that's what I would rate this place. We dined here twice on our visit to Morgantown. Once for lunch on their first day open for indoor dining and then again for dinner. While they are operating on a limited food and beverage menu due to reopening from Covid, the menu is not disappointing. But even better than the food is the service. We first had Josh for lunch and then Dean (I think was his name, the Australian) at dinner. They were delightful and thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with them. We had the stuffed dates, brussel sprouts, mac and cheese, crab cake sandwich, beet salad, corn/crab chowder, and charcuterie. All were outstanding. If I am being honest, this is really the only gig in town if you're looking for fine dining and cocktails. We were on a trip from NYC and arrived fairly soon after opening hours. The waiter was really nice and friendly and was attentive. The drinks were delicious (we tried quite a few off the menu). The food was amazing -- absolutely was the type of meal I'd expect to find in NYC, despite being in WV, which was a pleasant surprise. The meals and dishes are small (tapas style) so you will likely want to spend a lot of time here grazing across different small plates while imbibing. I know that sounds obnoxious but that's the feel this place is going for. If you're looking for a cold beer and a burger (which is also great) there are other places in the area that will cater to that. We had a little bit of the menu to include the meadllions, crab cakes, Mediterranean salad, crab & corn soup, tera mousse, the Parmesean spread with bread, mojito and government mule. My favorite was the soup and I'm not a soup guy. The soup had the perfect flavor combination and texture, next was the Mediterranean salad with bell peppers, chick peas, cauliflower, pita bread with a spread it had a little kick to it and was very flavorful. The crab cakes were very good as was the dessert. The meadllions could have used a little more fresh pepper but were good none the less. Our drinks were perfect as well. The service at times was a little slow, but not so much I would complain about it. It is a small kitchen and with as many people that were there tonight I could see why. Well....I guess I found where I'll be coming, oh I don't know....EVERY TIME I'm back in Morgantown!! Can't say enough about this place, thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of my time here. Sat at the bar and immediately noticed that they have a great liquor selection, with my tastes leaning towards the bourbons and whiskeys. Josh, the bartender, immediately makes everyone feel welcome and really knew his stuff when it came to their selection. (There is an Aussie bartender who is awesome as well, I'm a jerk for not getting his name). I had the petite crabcake as an appetizer and the scallops for my entrée to help me wash down the Blanton's and Old Forestor 1920 (the Aussie suggested this one and it did not disappoint! We spent the weekend in Morgantown and decided to check this little place out after reading all the reviews. It's a really small place, has about 5-6 actual tables and a pretty decent sized bar, make sure you make reservations so you can get a seat! I didn't find this place as friendly as everyone else stated in their reviews. Our waiter Zac was just a typical waiter, although very kind and good at his job, it wasn't anything over the top like others explained in their reviews. I also would like to note that this place isn't pricey, at least not what we typically are used to. Our bill was 80 bucks, and we had an appetizer, each a smaller meal, and 3 drinks between us. The food was pretty decent. I don't think it's the BEST I ever had, but it definitely was not the worst either. I ate it, and was happy with it, so that matters most. I only gave it 3 stars because I just didn't find it to be anything to rave about, Although good, just not what everyone has stated, or at least WE didn't have that experience. read more

I have been to this restaurant a few times and every experience has been wonderful. They offer many mixed drinks with a classy selection of liquor to choose. They have craft beer and many wines as well. I am a huge fan of the tapas type restaurants, so this place is right up my alley. The service was spot on and food was delicious. The only issue that I have ever had was my last visit for the Valentine's Day Special. My wife and our friend both ordered their filet medium-rare and they both arrived a strong medium. Luckily the filet was so good it was still edible for the medium-rare fan. This happens in every restaurant (hence I am still giving it 5-Stars) so they get a pass on this one. Ahhhh...what a fabulous meal! I absolutely loved Tin 202, and not just because I was seated over the air conditioning vent on a 90 degree evening. The food is spectacular and the ambiance is amazing. And the cocktails perfectly complement the meal. The service was very nice and we enjoyed a leisurely meal of delicious tapas items, including the hanger steak, kefta, mussels, Berkshire pork belly, charcuterie board, mojito scallop ceviche, deviled eggs. What can I say other than the food was fantastic and beautifully presented. They have an extensive wine and beer selection, and cocktail list is so fun to read. I had the Government Mule house cocktail and it was a lovely blend of tangy, sweet, and bitter. Truly I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed this meal. I have to say ... If you needed further evidence that Morgantown's food scene has evolved exponentially since say the 2000s, look nowhere else than Tin 202. It's unctuously located on the tail end of High Street close to the Met and the Hotel Morgan. Tin 202 boasts fabulous interiors (I feel like I'm in Brooklyn, or U Street in DC), the cocktails are a pleasure, the menu is a delight, and the staff are personable and friendly. This needs to be my regular spot in Morgantown every time I am in town as it makes a fantastic meet-up spot as well. First thing - the interiors are an absolute class act much in evidence to the namesake of it all - the tin ceilings harkoning back to a golden age of pubs and eateries in urban environments such as these. The furniture is thoughtful, the finishes are all warm and comfortable, and I absolutely love the Manet Bar at Folies Bergere replica in the center wall. This looks like a adaptive re-use of a space gone right. You would never think for a second that the Great Wall Chinese restaurant called this home for over three decades! At the bar area - I feel like I get this fresh breeze of early 1900s Morgantown and the cocktails really lend themselves to that feeling. The Sazerac for example is a perfectly warming event with the right amount of bitters and tartness to offset the intensity of the absinthe. And as a avid bourbon enthusiast, I had to try the Old Fashioned - couldn't quite tell what the bitters were but the orange was spot on. The Boulevardier was about as pleasurable to drink as it was to say - I really liked the lemon oil finish. And who can forget about the house cocktails - I mean how fun is the Hot for teacher with the white ages rum and rhubarb bitters? The Food at Tin 202 is also a breath of fresh air. Everything looks highly tempting so if you don't control yourself, expect to drop some serious treasure in one outing. But seriously - a fine selection of ceviche in Morgantown? You bet! The Mojito Scallop is a refreshing burst of mint, jalapeno, lime, with a splash of rum aided by the creaminess of the scallop. Expect a more citrusy bang with the Ecuadorian Shrimp ceviche. At $11 each, these make fine appetizers with generous portions. Other excellent tapas dishes that are good but economical are the beat salad, the olives, and lamb kafta. I would even consider the tapas version of the hangar steak an entrée. I am especially looking forward to trying the fillet and the house fish on my next visit. Tin 202 is a wonderfully romantic and even majestic spot for a date night and an even better meet-up spot for friends. Came back to visit and came across this place to celebrate a friend's birthday. There were quite a few people so I was able to try a lot of the specialty drinks, which were fantastic. I stuck with the White Russian (which had an egg white in it and it just made it that much more fantastic), but the drink that stood out to me was the gin and tonic. Gin is probably my least favorite liquor out there but, man, this was amazing. The flavors just melded perfectly. The bartenders are very knowledgable and put on a good show. It's nice to see that in Morgantown because typically, downtown, it's just your typical young bartender that's slinging vodka cranberries and know nothing about a good mixed drink/beer/wine. I did not get a chance to eat an entree there, but I did get two appetizers. The tzatziki appetizer was fantastic. The flavor was great, and the chunks of cucumber added just enough texture. The warm pitas were slightly salted which added to it. I also ordered the bruschetta. It was very mild in flavor, not anything too mind blowing. When I requested more bread, it wasn't toasted which was how I assumed it would come. Overall,very excited to see a place like this in Morgantown. Love the ambience, staff was great. It was a cold Valentine's Eve, and High Street had banks of snow on the sides of it's curbs...yet we found a spot right out front and were invited into the cozy corner restaurant. Tin 202 has a great unique entrance and the inside is not disappointing either. Very intimate but at the same time spacious with high ceilings accentuated by painstaking renovations. Tin 202 is in a beautifully remodeled historic building downtown; much of the original features have been preserved. It's relatively small (compared to most other High St. establishments), which makes it feel cozy. This also means that tables and the bar fill up pretty quickly. If you want to avoid undergrads, this is a great spot for you. Cocktails are all around 10 dollars, but I think they're worth every penny. These drinks are meant to be savored, not chugged, and the bartenders use seasonal, quality liquors and other ingredients to truly craft their cocktails. If you don't see something on the menu, the bartenders are happy to make something else you want (I got a perfect Sidecar on my first visit), or create a drink for you on the spot (after hearing what sorts of cocktails you usually drink). Foods are mostly reasonably priced small plates. I've enjoyed the cheese plate, roasted potatoes, olive tapenade, crab cakes, and pork cheeks. All have ranged from good (the cheese board and potatoes) to excellent (the crab cakes and pork cheek). I haven't ordered entrees here because I do find those prices really expensive (42 dollars for a hanger steak, for example). If I'm being honest, I'm more inclined to drive to Pittsburgh if I'm going to pay that kind of money for a steak, but again--I've never ordered it. Over-all Tin 202 is a little bit pricey, but you are paying for quality and service. It's a great place for a date and for grad students/professionals who want to get away from the typical Uptown bars with cheap bar and premixed drinks. read more
