We went here on Friday night. I didn't find it to be extremely busy. I had noticed that there were three people at a table nearby that we're waiting to place their order. I saw four or five wait staff or bussers but no one acknowledged us. We waited about 15 -20 minutes, but after not being acknowledged in seeing that, the three people that were there when we walked in still were waiting to place an order we got up and left. I'm not sure if they don't know that etiquette tells you to say "we'll be right with you".That goes a long way. read more

We searched places to eat that is kid friendly and found this one. They may have served beer, but there was no beer list given or offered. Ordered nachos as an appetizer. Gloppy cheese on tri color chips with lettuce, sour cream and chicken. Zero flavor. Some salsa or jalapeños would have helped. My husband and I ordered sandwiches which were fine. My child ordered the pepperoni flatbread. It wasn't flatbread, but just a thin crust pizza that was undercooked and looked like a frozen crust. It took forever to get our food. People who came after us got food before. Me and a friend ordered a very simple order, (nachos, fries, and a flatbread) which still took a very long time to come out. Our waiter wasn't very friendly. The food was cheap quality and overrated. My nachos tasted awful and like fair food. The flatbread tasted like ragu sauce from a jar. It was clear they were making the food as cheap as possible. The only good thing about it was that we got seated quickly. Some of the reviews here seem unfair. The reviews that say (basically) that this is a tavern/pub food place are the fairest reviews and put this place on a scale of like places. Have to put it on the scale of other 'pub food' type places. I'm in Morgantown these days in academic pursuits. I had been meaning to try this place for some time, and finally did in November 2019. Definitely pleased. The service was attentive, friendly, quick - lots of check ins on 'do you need anything else, everything okay' type of comments. Really good service from college age students. Someone is paying attention to server training. The menu was varied and even more expansive than usual 'pub food bars.' We had the potato skins appetizers (lots of potato still in the skins, good toppings), and the Southwest Chicken Wrap (which was huge and really a great blend of flavors). The wrap (as does most of the sandwiches and entrees) came with a huge side of curly fries. The fries were actually hot (a common complaint I have of other places is that the fries are under heat lamps ... no bueno!) and very good. The ONLY reason this is NOT a 5 rating is that a pub/tavern type food place also has to be judged on its beer selection. The tap selections were the usual (bland and watery) Bud and ilk type of beers. I mean I did enjoy my Goose Island IPA, but with all the excellent WV craft beers, there is no excuse not to have Big Timber, or Greenbrier Valley (HUGE fan of the Devil Anse IPA), or similar also on tap. So, Boston Beanery, I respectfully suggest you up your game on the beer selections. The atmosphere was nice and clean, lots of cool old sports and historical places pictures on the walls. Some TVS on walls for sports watching. Nice bar set up, with a variety of booths, high tops, and tables for seating. Didn't seem like it would be crowded or too noisy if full. (We were there on a Thursday, and about 1/3 full). But on the scale of judging pub food places it was great for the one trip. I definitely will come here again. Up your beer game, and this is a 5 for a pub food place. read more

I was in town visiting my sister at West Virginia University, and my family and I decided to eat here. The Boston Beanery was set up nicely, the staff was nice, but I was not wowed. The food was just typical bar/pub food and it was good but nothing spectacular. The highlight of my meal was their red sangria. It was not to sweet and not to dry, and it paired nicely with my food. We started with their nachos and they were pretty good and very filling. My mom and I ordered chicken sandwiches, my brother ordered a burger, and sister ordered a grill chicken dish. All of our food was a little dry but it still tasted good. If you go there, go hungry because they give you a lot of curly fries. The Boston Beanery is a good place to go to grab drinks with friends and to hangout. I would probably eat here again because of location, but it will not be my first choice. . read more

The Italian hoagie was stupendous as well as the pickles and the Caesar salad that I substituted for over the famous curly fries. This past Wednesday, my daughter Noel and decided to eat at the Boston Beanery. We had eaten before at the one on High Street and enjoyed that location, so we wanted somewhere different...great choice, definitely larger location. Great devote and use of space. Definitely enjoyed all the vintage Boston photographs... We were greeted and seated immediately. The hostess took us to a nice booth, tables slightly sticky, but not from previous good, but laquer. The tables are all wood and definitely need sanded and redone, but that's not why I was there...lol!!! Noel chose the 10 bone in Irish Gold wings with ranch and Noel of onion soup. I went with 1/2 Turkey Club sandwich combo with their loaded potato soup...unsweetened iced tea with lemon and lime and she chose soda. The waitress was nice and attentive. I also ordered large Promo Pepperoni Pizza to go, for some family over at the hospital. The good was great...just at $45 With taxes and tip. I will definitely go again..and absolutely recommend if you are in the area. read more

Today was the first day I have ever eaten here, and it will most assuredly be my last. Driving through Morgantown today, most of the places were packed around 4:00....except this place. Pulling in and parking was mistake number 1. We were quickly seated, and on the hostesses stand, I noticed a $2 pint Yuening lager special. When the waitress took our drink order, and I tried to order the beer, they told me they were all out. All they could offer was Bud Light and Miller Light. I'd rather drink piss because it would taste better, so water it was. (BTW....when we left the restaurant, the special was STILL posted on the hostess station and not removed!) So, we ordered. Chargrilled chicken with a Caesar Salad and onion rings, crab dip (which was $10 alone), a chicken salad for the wife, and chicken tenders/fries for our child. My salad lettuce was half brown. While the waitress was nice, she could obviously see I didn't eat half of my salad and put the most brown pieces on top. Not once did she offer to replace it, saying, "I bet everything's tasty!" Um.....no. So, we try the crab dip. I swear, the only thing that had crabs in it was probably the panties of a dorm room sleepover in a university town. The "crab" dip was mostly cream cheese and melted yellow cheese on top, with minimal, if any crab. PASS!! Finally, the chargrilled chicken. At first glance, it looked good....until I cut into it and it was half undercooked. Again, the "It looks pretty tasty" waitress came back and saw half of my chicken sitting there still pink. The parts that were edible had no seasoning, no salt, nothing. Just flame grilled chicken. I was appalled. $60 later (including tip....) and I was almost ready to walk out giving a 2 star review, but nature called for the 3 glasses of water I sucked down to ensure I didn't just have my last meal. A cook from the kitchen walked out of the bathroom and did NOT WASH HIS HANDS!! To top it all off, I tried to when I left the bathroom, and the soap dispenser was broken. It all became apparent to me why everywhere BUT here was booming on a Saturday afternoon in Mo-Town. Pretty soon, this will be but a faint, beer-less, crab-less memory. You've been warned! read more

WENT FOR LUNCH. WILL GO BACK BUT MINOR ISSUES: Went in today at 12 for lunch with a 4 man crew. Was greeted by the hostess who asked if we wanted the high chair area. Mentioned the fact I wasn't aware of what that meant and was sat there. That area was tight as a drum so we asked to be re-sat somewhere else. Met with attitude we ordered and picked a couple of Pub Burgers (burger with cheese bacon and southwest ranch) .. I ordered a turkey wrap. Everything comes with curly fries. FOOD: if you get a sandwich that comes with fries - GET THE SOUTHWEST RANCH. Trust me. However, my turkey wrap lacked one important element - TURKEY. I'm not a fat ass but MAN COULD A BROTHA GET AN EXTRA SLICE OR TWO?! Fries were good. Others in party loved the burgers and food. ATMOSPHERE: Nice sports bar atmosphere in strip mall near college but away from college enough. Busy area. COST: Prices are adequate and is very accommodating. Had a business lunch today with two colleagues. Food was adequate. Service was good. However, this the most filthy eating establishment I have ever experienced. Shoes stick to carpeting....carpet in a restaurant? Really? Dust hanging from black painted drop ceiling. Im a man and I have used some pretty bad mens rooms.....this one ranks with the worst. The entire place smells like fryer grease and you walk out smelling like it. Maybe needs a new kitchen exhaust system or clean the one you have. This place needs to be closed, gutted and remodeled. I will not go back to this place. BTW, I just read a former review that mentioned the broken soap dispenser in the men's room. It was still broken when I was in there today! read more

My experience here was not the best. It was the same night as a mountaineer basketball game. The dining area was very small especially since we had a group. By the time we had someone come to our table to allow us to put our orders in the restaurant had cleared out some, so it wasn't busy when our orders were placed. Nobody ever came to check on us and I had to flag a waitress down to get a refill on my water. Food is mediocre at best and so is the service. read more

Food is negatively correlated to each visit I make. A home style meatloaf was added to the menu a while back and I LOVED it. It was fresh, made with a nice mix of different meats. Nice light-colored gravy. Sooo good. My boyfriend and I stopped in some time back, and we both ordered the meatloaf (now a permanent part of the menu. Featuring a dazzling picture of a moist, thick piece of loaf, drizzled in gravy. I was pumped. The waitress brought us out a TV dinner Salisbury steak and seemed shocked that I was shocked. I suffered through since she was nice. But omg. That was awful. And pretty blatant false advertisement seeing as the plate brought out to me was an entirely different entree than what was pictured. ****************^^^****^^^^********************* I really really really want to give this place five stars. The food is awesome. (Lobster Bisque!!) The staff is consistently awful when it comes to being welcoming and attentive. Which makes the meal usually last 1 hour plus.
