We told another associate about it and was told it wasn't the first complaint that day. They definitely lost at least one sale from us that day.

Mixed feelings about my recent shopping experience here. I came to Dick's Sporting Goods a few…read moreweeks ago for a few reasons: 1) I needed some new swim trunks. There is a heated pool in the hotel I am staying and darn it, I was going to use it! 2) my brother needed new sneakers 3) we both needed new gloves. We both had a pair but needed one that allow you to text message. Why? The company I work for, which also had just hired my brother use an app on your phone to give you access to enter through the doors. You better be able to touch your screen of you won't get in. Problem is... if it's cold as heck you don't want to take off your gloves. I easily found the swim trunks... a bit pricey for my taste... $40. We went to the shoe section and got my brother a new pair of sneakers that comfortably fit and were reasonably priced. We were helped by the employees manning that section. Gloves... that was a nightmare. Finding the section wasn't easy and required me to ask someone for help... when I got there that section was a mess. Took me 30 minutes to find the type of gloves we were looking for and in our size... ridiculous. If they had all sections of their store as well managed as the show area... this would be at least a four star review. Still since I am finding my way around the area if I need winter clothes or shoes... I may find myself here again.

I had money to spend, and I did....only after having to ASK to be helped. Even after explaining that my goal was to ease back into running, they didn't offer any gait analysis or additional help. I did buy a pair of shoes because i really needed them, but turned around and returned them the same day because I don't want to support a store that doesn't provide quality customer service....especially for something as important as footwear for running. At my age, especially, quality footwear is so important. I chose another local establishment and was very happy with the immediate attention I received upon entering. It wasn't convenient to return and go somewhere else, but it felt good to me.

I came in like a storm, blew in and was ready to breeze on out after my purchase. My sons, the big fellas, like athletic gear and this is one of their favorite stores. I knew that the sale was awesome even if the customer service left much to be desired. I received no assistance on my quest for shorts, but none was really needed. I headed to the counter after eyeballing and securing my items only to be greeted by a young man who surely believes he belongs on the cover of Vogue magazine. He made absolutely no attempt to greet me, like zero, none, not a one, zip, zilcho, goose egg- not even a hello! I was subjected to a slight head nod- which in the new teen/young adult vernacular appears to mean "how can I help, may I assist you". Having 2 teens myself, I am familiar with the language, but don't allow it in my presence. I waited to hear a verbal affirmation that he was ready to ring me up, I can assure you, none ever came. I made my purchase in silence, like an off beat Charlie Chan movie -- I really deserved an Oscar, Emmy, at least a Razzy. I managed to be silent and pleasant concurrently. While my sales associate just came off as the guy you hate to see in the club, the one that thinks he's super hip, while being a total jerk at the same time. I left without ever really saying 2 words. Customer service is becoming such a lost art that we are thrown off when we actually receive it. My sneakerologist should be as kind and accommodating as my dentist! Nothing says "hello" better than a great smile and nice proper fitting shoe. Do better Finish Line, do better!!
