The food was reasonably priced and was good, but the service was non existent. It was quite dark, but the bathrooms were cool.

Spirit Bomb whiskey cocktail, smoked pork ribs, mashed potatoes with gravy, addictive cornbread, spicy pickles

My last visit here had me craving pork ribs after an amazing meal of smoked brisket. Tonight, Tin Rooster overdelivered on flavor and panache. Meal began with an incredible cocktail with Spirit Bomb, a spiced whiskey (think Captain, Jameson, and Jager having a baby) with ginger beer and lemonade - surreal cocktail at an amazing price $7! I ordered the 3/4 rack of ribs which were smoked to perfection with the right amount of pink and char. Mashed potatoes and gravy came along side (there are eight sides to choose from), plus charred corn cornbread which is super addictive! The plate was completed with some spicy pickles which were refreshing and amazing. Service was on point from Jesse and Lacey, and they take Covid precautions seriously - each of them changed their gloves no fewer than six times during my one hour visit. Amazing experience, great food, superb cocktail, can't wait to come back!

The food was average and I would say the corn muffin was better than average. The biggest issue is the wait to get food, over 45 minutes to get items that they most likely all had cooked already and nothing made to order. The saving grace was that we put the kid orders in as soon as we arrived so they werent starving and waiting too. Additionally one person in our group ordered mashed potatoes as a side and recieved cheesy corn instead, however we didnt dare to bring it to the waitstaff attention due to assuming it would have been an extra 30 minutes to resolve.

Came here with friends and did not like it. The ambience and service is really good. But the food was a no no for me. Everything tasted like Cole slaw for me. My husband got the platter it was okay. Not that special.

Entrance from the EXIT 33 area inside Turning Stone

Yeeee hawwww! We make it up here once a year for an annual professional development conference, and once the day's sessions were over, we were pleased to discover some welcome additions to Turning Stone's entertainment options. Tin Rooster is a venue that's part of Turning Stone's new "EXIT 33" hub - a collection of differently-themed bars and restaurants that also includes 80s/90s rock hall, "The Gig," burlesque-themed dueling piano bar lounge, "Turquoise Tiger," and the centrally-located "Atrium Bar" in the middle of it all. The existing "Lava Nightclub" has also been bundled into the new "EXIT 33." Tin Rooster is a cover charge-free massive space inside of a barnyard, with vaulted ceilings, lots of exposed wood beams, sit-down seating in the back, a big dance floor, and - oh yeah...plenty of live and DJ country music, covers, remixes and mashups! Their food menu consists of the predictable brisket, mac & cheese, sliders, wings, etc. I sampled a pulled pork sandwich and it was awesome! Priced under $10, that's a pretty sweet deal especially considering this is a casino venue. Bartenders are a mixed bag - Mostly young guys and coyote-ugly esque girls (who know nothing except how to perfectly knot their plaid shirts above their belly buttons). The coolest thing about Tin Rooster though...The men's room! Head inside and you'll see some kegs carved like pumpkins into perfectly-functioning urinals. By the sinks, there's bar soaps threaded through steel rods...funny how everything contributes to the overall image. The men's room is tucked away to the left of the stage (as you're facing it) - it's a bit tricky to find without asking (or reading the last sentence I just wrote) All in all, Tin Rooster is a solid joint for those who want the high energy and dancing, but in more casual form than Lava Nightclub.

All I can say is #FOODCOMA!!!! Pulled pork sandwich with a side of mac&cheese and coleslaw. Mmm mmm mm

The Tin Rooster is my favorite bar in CNY. If you LOVE country music this is the bar for you!!! They have live country bands playing on the weekends from 10pm-1ish. It's always a good time and the crowd is usually a mix of all ages, kinda reminds me of a wedding :-P. There's two large bars so it's pretty easy to get a drink unless it's packed. I took away one star because the beer always tastes watered down here... And they put SO much ice in a mixed drink and barely any liquor. Be prepared to pay $8 for a mixed drink in the smallest cup you'll ever see in your life. It's almost impossible to get a buzz here without spending around $60 and I'm a lightweight so what does that tell ya. The Tin Rooster also serves food until 10pm. I always get the same thing when I come... The pulled pork sandwich with Mac & cheese on the side. It comes with jalapeño coleslaw and pickles. All I can say is if you plan on eating here, COME HUNGRY!! The portions are huge. The amount of pulled pork on that sandwich was ridiculous. The food is pretty good here, not the best BBQ I've had but it's worth coming back. The pulled pork doesn't really have much flavor but I smother it with the sweet BBQ sauce and it's perfect. I'm not a fan of the coleslaw either. The mac&cheese is something you HAVE to try... It's literally the best Mac&cheese I've ever had. My favorite thing about the tin rooster is you are literally in a BARN and they play country music on the big screen while you eat. What's better than jamming to country music while eating BBQ?! Uhhhh... nothing!!! The atmosphere is so awesome here. Whoever designed this bar did an amazing job. If you're at the turning stone definitely check it out, if you like country music you will love it!!!

Did I mention a lot of lettuce?

Within the Turning Stone Casino complex are several dining and entertainment facilities. One that we chose to visit was the Tin Rooster. It is a country western venue that looks like a barn from the outside (enclosed courtyard/atrium) and has a pair of wooden stairs that you climb to the second level to enter. I'm sure there is an elevator also. We were there at dinner time on a Wednesday when free line dancing lessons were also being offered. You feel like you are in a very large rustic barn with two bars, a dance floor, dining tables, western paraphernalia like saddles hanging from the ceiling, and oddly enough, a small travel trailer camper that looks like it can be reserved for privacy with a few tables and chairs outside its door. The draft beer selection is not overly broad; we started with pints of Dogfish Head 60 Minutes and Guinness ($4.60/pt). With the casino located at Exit 33 of the NYS Thruway, I decided to order their 33 Burger ($15) - a hand formed patty topped with smoked pork belly, pepper jack, onions, house pickles, BBQ 1000 island dressing, and a mountain of shredded lettuce. I had requested medium-rare and that's exactly how it was served. Other than the issue of having to really squash down the lettuce which also kept falling out, it was a very flavorful burger. The toasted brioche roll added nice texture and was quite tasty too. As a side I ordered the Burnt End Baked Beans and they had a wonderful smoky flavor. The hand cut fries served with both of our meals were very good. My wife's dinner was that night's Sandwich Special ($12) that was basically a BLT on Texas toast. It was good, but not anything out of the ordinary other than the extra thick slices of toast. I was intrigued by the Sweet Potato Doughnuts ($5) on the desert menu. So I ordered them. Five golf ball sized orbs with a warm honey dipping sauce. Not too heavy in texture and only a light sweet potato flavor, I probably wouldn't rush to order them again.

Last time, the white male bartender just kept ignoring me, the only PoC at his end of the bar. The white fratty-looking dudes who elbowed their way next to me, (also apparently here for the Beyoncé night with their gfs) were the ones who got his attention. The PoC bartender tho? They/she looked like they took him aside, talked to him, then took my order after what felt like FOREVER trying to get this man's attention, with him instead putting all the other white patrons before me. The PoC bartend took over & let me order, which made me feel like crying with relief. I looked at the white group right in their eyes...all who saw me and cut in, confidently knowing this bartender would choose them. There has to be a code of conduct, right? Nope...just smirks back. If I wanted to be real cynical, I would say it's a grift between staff that preys on the vulnerabilities of PoC in a predominantly white Upstate/CNY town to finally be seen with any modicum of respect after being treated as lesser...because I tipped generously for being treated like I deserved to be there. But I refuse to believe QPoC would do this to their own. And the PoC bartender seemed genuinely real, and for that, I really appreciate what they do, looking out for their fellow PoC in the space. But from where I stand, it looks exhausting to have this as a whole second job of looking after PoC and educating white coworkers on top of the actual job...I know the feeling. It's the Ithaca experience. I do have to appreciate the queer white femmes who DID treat me with kindness & grace, giving me space, letting me approach the bar to tip the PoC bartender who takes my order almost every time. The one whom I believe saw how awful I was being treated and swooped in to look out. They even told the bartender I was leaving extra tips for them. They are the allies we need in these spaces! I appreciate them. But yeah...the tall white AFAB femme drag performer who was a drag child of my white AMAB colleague...I did not appreciate how they treated me (an AFAB femme PoC) like a predator for buying him a drink. I felt less than human, and felt disgusting being treated to a buffet of the twisted type of racialized microagressions only white queer folks can deliver. It made me never want to return. And I didn't for a long time, even when I tore it up so much on the dance floor that Spirit Posse gave me swag. The PoC of this space make it humane. But that same night...I saw a white woman inappropriately grope a Black person performing on stage. They had to remind her about consent, which they likely made a regular thing because of how often it happens at Thursgays. I didn't see her at the last couple ones when I returned to go back to supporting friends who perform...but they really need to do better to make this space safer and less stressful to exist in as a PoC. It's not worth me being the "Duke" of this joint if I can't relax and enjoy the show, the drinks, or the dance floor. They may not be the Trump flag waving folks 30 mins away, but this is a Get Out flavor of distress I don't think makes it worth return visits.

I appreciate that they are requiring proof of vaccination. I really, really appreciate it. That is…read morean excellent way to deal with running a bar in the midst of a pandemic. I do not appreciate a bouncer rushing over to tell me to put on a mask or sit down the moment I shifted from my chair to a standing position at a hightop table. I was polite, of course, and promptly shifted my butt down approximately five inches so that I was sitting. Apparently, it is very important for my butt to be five inches lower to prevent the spread of aerosols that carry an airborne disease. C'mon, people. Think for a minute. Letting people congregate introduces risks. Monitoring whether they are standing or sitting does not mitigate those risks at all.

This was lucky because the weather ended up being cold and wet. The space isn't huge and it's pretty unique because it looks like it was converted from an old theater. Since it was an outdoor show it seemed like the ticket sales were for a much bigger space. As the night went on the crowd thinned out and it was much more comfortable to not have people on top of you. Overall, I'm pretty impressed with how they configured a small space. There is a big bar in the back which sells drinks and pizza. There are registers reserved for canned drinks and water to help move the line along. There is also a vending machine to sell snacks. There is a slight decline in the floor so it feels like an outdoor show and if you are in the back you can still see. The big drawback is the bathrooms are super tiny. You could be waiting for a long time. Overall, a pretty cool spot, check it out if you are in the area.

Today 5/19/26, I received an email stating that I received a refund for those tickets. (Assuming the concert was cancelled since no other statement from the venue has been released saying so). I contacted the theater via phone to ask how I was going to receive my refund since the account I purchased the tickets with no longer exists. The gentleman told me "I don't know, maybe call your bank. This isn't my problem" then hung up. So I did, I called my bank and they told me the refund is going to bounce back to the seller. So I called back and told him this and he then tells me again that it's not his problem and we don't handle to ticket sales. So I asked who did and he responded with "what's your email say". I then said Open Table, which he then corrected me by telling me it was open date. I asked for their contact info and he told me he didn't have it. Which is a line of bull. A concert venue doesn't have access to the ticket sellers info? Interesting. He then proceeded to tell me "again this isn't my problem and they (open table) is going to tell you the same thing. He then hung up on me. I've since contacted open date and they are helping me get my refund, but I can promise I will never do business with this venue in the future.
