Joining Kalifornia Kasting was a mistake for me. I've was with them for a week and never got one…read morebooking. I'm union, so I know there is less work out there, but I usually get a couple of jobs a week. I booked myself for one job during the week with Central Casting, and KK sent me a notification a half hour later as if they did it. I found them to be friendly people, but I should have taken it as a red flag that they are unreachable by phone. Everything is done by text or e-mail, with absolutely no consistency, meaning you'll never know how they will contact you. This is much too slow of a communication method for a fast paced business where time is of the essence for bookings. I need to be able to call and get a quick result when requesting to be submitted for a job. There are also many miscommunications resulting. For instance, I requested to be submitted for a job by e-mail. They didn't acknowledge receipt of my message, so I contacted the casting director myself, and she told me they had already submitted me. How would I know, since they sometimes say they got the message, and sometimes say nothing? I spoke with another union extra on set who works with KK. She has been with them for two months without a single booking until that day, and she is completely bookable, as am I. Their website is always under construction, and that should have been a red flag as well. They are generally disorganized and flighty. They came well recommended by a co-worker who gets booked often, but they seem unable to book union extras. They do not seem to possess the clout of other calling services, and this has adversely affected my workload. Fortunately I was able to get my second month refunded, and I ate the cost of my first month.

I like knowing what the businesses are so I can research them and that Alma girl, failed to provide that. I asked others there nobody knew, so I just went in blind.
