Angie answered all of our questions and informed us with plenty of packets about the daycare. My kids are still going to this day and they are 2 and 5. Angie has hired excellent staff and my kids have learned so much. They never complain when it is time to go to daycare. Kim and Bailey are in the infant room and they are an excellent fit for the babies. Jessica is in the 1s and she is a sweetheart as well as Miranda in the 2s room. Angie is also great with communication about the kids through out the day if I have any questions. I highly recommend SCC.

We had a rocky start with our oldest daughter as being born during covid made for a harder transition to daycare. That being said, Parkwood worked with her and by the time she was into their preschool program she was thriving and had a strong community of kids and teachers at her disposal. By the time she "graduated" from pre-k last year we had met most of the staff and were really thrilled with everything about our experience from the extremely low turnover of staff, to the approachability of the program director, to the dedication of the founder who is still very much involved. Our daughter left Parkwood being able to write her name, read a few words, and even knowing some spanish and yoga. Nowadays, our 14 month old goes here and at this point it very much feels like we are part of a bigger community as we know many of the other families that also send their kids here, and we know the staff really well. Parkwood is now located in Overland Park at Indian Heights United Methodist Church and while it's been a while waiting on the new addition - they are working on a standalone building that will serve as their primary care center here, which I think will be wonderful once it's completed. I won't sugarcoat the price as it isn't cheap to send kids here, but it isn't the MOST expensive in town either. I find that Parkwood Day School does a good job of keeping costs as low as they can while also maintaining a safe, clean, and educational environment for all the kids that attend. All this to say, I feel really lucky to have found this school and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a good daycare/preschool to send their little ones to.

They support researched-based developmental learning for children 6 weeks to 6 years old and also have therapists (PT, OT, and speech) on site to conduct regular screenings to determine if your child needs additional developmental support/IEP. As a speech therapist myself, I was pleased to see therapy services are offered because they were not at several other places we toured. They just recently started using an app that logs your child's nap times, feeding times/amount, and potty. The thing my husband and I love is they upload pictures throughout the day and describe what activity your child is working on and what developmental skill it targets (fine motor, gross motor, eye-hand coordination, sitting core strength, language, etc). The staff is friendly, quick to respond, and our daughter is always happy upon drop-off and pick-up. Highly recommend Parkwood.

They are so accepting and caring! I had anxiety of finding the right daycare for her before enrolling, and the worry is relieved by them daily. They send out love notes every single day, have cameras in the classrooms, feed them a great diet, and take wonderful care of our girl. I wouldn't want my daughter to go anywhere else!! I was lucky enough to keep my son home with me until he was 6 months old and was incredibly nervous about someone else watching him when that time came. When asked AAC, here's their response, which I think will help you understand what they're all about: Oh our owner is very passionate about different eating preferences, in fact, she is meeting with the chef and they are revamping the menu. They like to make different meals look the same so the kids don't feel odd eating something different (e.g. Vegetarian vs. Meat). At that moment I fell in love. Another one of the most memorable perks was the fact that they have their own "cafeteria/gym" area which is where the kitchen is, but they also hold Daddy Daughter dance type of events, and they also hold activities during the day for your kiddo to attend (like soccer or piano) which helps alleviate as many evening activities if so desired! Lastly and most importantly, their curriculum strategy and execution for Reggio is on point. I visited some places that execute it at bare minimum just to claim it, not this place. They are thoughtful in their strategy and passionate in their execution.

We've become so attached to each of the teachers that we have worried if the next teacher will be just as good as the previous. Much to our satisfaction AAC hires very qualified and genuinely nice teachers. We can tell that they truly love our children. We really like the extra lengths AAC goes to make the experience feel like a family. They have a dad/daughter dance as well as a mom/son movie night each year. When I came to pick her up I heard her laughs the moment I opened the door. The staff said she had been having so much fun that she and agreed for me to sneak out and let her play some more. When she did come home she was exhausted, excited, and full of stories to tell. She was up, dressed, breakfast ate, and lunch packed (optional) an hour before we were supposed to leave, and this girl is so very not a morning person! Their prices are awesome, currently $8 per hour or $56 for 7-10 hours, and $4 for lunch if you choose to eat there. It's a drop in facility with extended evenings for those afternoon workers, and you only pay for the hours you are there. I highly recommend checking them out. Your kiddo won't be disappointed.

Mrs. Karina was her next teacher in 6-12 months and the room is still connected to Mrs. Sandy's which I liked. Mrs. K is fun, caring, and really works with the kids. She'll turn your baby into a toddler which you will love/hate :p I also have older that went here and I can say that Mrs. Jeanette and Mrs. Jessica were quickly favored. Even the teachers aids are great. They always put up new photos and charts to show what the kids have been doing and if I have any issues the director Stephanie, and the assistant director Gretchen are are wonderful, attentive leaders who get down in the trenches with their co-workers. It is left solely up to the teachers to discipline and handle these behaviors with no support. For example, kindergarten students regularly physically fight each other and some are still not required to be potty trained which results in many accidents in class. When management is called in, the child is rewarded for misbehaving. When behavior escalates and parents are informed, they scream at the management who then get mad at the teachers. If behavioral management isn't a strong skill, I would look somewhere else. Additionally, the management is comprised of four team members. One is amazing, one is competent, one refuses to do her job, to the detriment of the teachers and their curriculum, and one is too obsessed with drama and judgment towards her young, female employees to even realize she has a job. The amount of judging and degrading language I received or overheard from the director is appalling. If you believe she isn't judging you, think again! Unfortunately, jealously is a disease that McDowel cannot find a cure for. Lastly, the veteran teachers are wonderful and kind! My coteacher was a saint! You will be set up for success if paired with one of them. Unfortunately this is not true for all teachers. Many teachers in the younger rooms spend the whole day on their phones and offload all responsibilities onto their coteacher, regardless of if they're the teacher assigned to the room or not. Even during outdoor recess, the prekindergarten teachers will sit out of sight on the wall on their phones rather than make sure the kids are safe, leaving the safety of 24 children solely on you. It is extremely disheartening and dangerous that this is a known issue that is allowed to continue. All in all, there are clear issues that make this job unnecessarily hard, namely unresolved behavioral issues and mean staff members. Aside from the youngest member, do not trust the management. They will use any information you give them to make your work life harder.

We love that the location is free standing and appears very secure and well kept. The hallways are wide, clean and clutter free. The rooms all have a lot of windows and are well lit. There are age appropriate toys that do not look old or too worn. I consistently see money being put back into the property and the classrooms such as new ride on toys in the early toddler rooms and large touch screen computers in the preschool rooms. This location is definitely not convenient for us and, trust me, we have looked at several other daycare options that would be much closer to our home and work (more than once) but nothing ever compares to Primrose School of Leawood! We have been very happy here.
