My personal favorite is April, she is one of the owners and I love when she helps me with gift ideas! One of my favorite reasons to support this gem of a store is that many of their items are locally made and sourced. They have the cutest selection of kids' clothing, toys, books, and so much more! My son's current obsession is a kid-friendly cookbook he got there, along with edible finger paints made from different foods--such a genius idea! This review genuinely makes me sad to write. We've visited Tiny Manini every year. It became part of our family tradition whenever we came to the North Shore. A children's bookstore should feel magical. It should feel like curiosity, discovery, imagination and the joy of finding something unexpected. For years, that's exactly what this place felt like. The people working here used to introduce us to local authors. They'd recommend books we never would have picked up on our own. They'd engage with our family. They'd make the experience feel special. This visit felt like the complete opposite. We arrived shortly before closing with our children. That's on us. We weren't expecting anyone to stay late. We weren't expecting special treatment. We simply wanted to browse for a few minutes and hopefully buy a few books. Instead, we were repeatedly reminded how much time was left. "Can I help you?" "You have about five minutes." "Anything I can help you find?" Over and over again. Not in a warm way. Not in a helpful way. Not in a "let me help you find something before we close" way. In a "please hurry up and leave" way. The saddest part wasn't even what was said. It was what wasn't. Nobody greeted my children. Nobody asked what they liked to read. Nobody pointed them toward a favorite book. Nobody shared a local recommendation. Nobody created even a single moment of wonder inside a children's bookstore. And just like that, the magic disappeared. The irony is that bookstores aren't really selling books anymore. You can buy books anywhere. They're selling atmosphere. They're selling community. They're selling the feeling that wandering through shelves is still worth doing in an age when everything can be ordered online. That's why this visit was so disappointing. The books were still there. The shelves were still there. The store was still there. But the warmth that made the place special seemed completely gone. After years of visiting and happily spending money here, I walked out feeling like my family had overstayed our welcome. For a children's bookstore, that's a surprisingly sad thing to feel. We won't be back. Update after the owner's response: The response mostly proves the problem. My review was never about the exact minute we walked in, whether closing procedures exist or whether the shop prefers to be called a children's retail store instead of a bookstore. Those are technicalities. The issue was hospitality. We came in with our kids ready to buy before leaving the North Shore. Instead, the visit felt managed, rushed and oddly defensive. Explaining the drawer, the folding, the vacuuming and the five minute window may explain the staff's priorities, but it does not change the customer experience. Finally made it out to the store after following on instagram for the past two years! Everything was so cute and the owner was super sweet. My 3 year old son loved a little duck that quacked when you squeeze it so I had to get it for him. Also picked up a trucker hat and a cute little Hawaii version of goodnight moon. Spent about $50 but it was worth it to see my son very happy with his new toy, hat, and book. We will definitely return if we are in the north shore area! read more

All the items here are made from one family which is really kool! They had a variety of items in a couple sizes. I would say this place is meant for toddler size not quit children. I loved the items in this store but was disappointed by their dishonest business practices. I purchased a Christmas present for my nephew here, as I always try to support local small businesses whenever I can. However, recently, my mom pointed out that there was a "Tax 1" and "Tax 2" on my receipt. They charged the standard state/county tax of 4.712% ("Tax 1") and an additional 3.5% for something called "Tax 2." I checked my receipts from neighboring boutiques, and none of them charged this additional "tax." It's a very small amount of money, but this method of deception is taking advantage of customers who are there to support them. My parents owned a small retail shop, and they cannot fathom how anyone could justify a hidden charge of any kind. I would have been happy to pay more if the charge had been transparent. I truly believe businesses should set their prices at what they need to--even if it seems high--in order to pay employees living wages and to make a decent profit. If it means the *listed* price of the item I bought was 3.5% more, I would have paid it without issue. What I don't like is being tricked into paying more than advertised. read more

We stumbled upon this children store after getting coffee nearby and it ended up being my favorite kids shop of the whole vacation! We were immediately greeted when we walked in and the lady helped point out where we could find everything they had in our baby's size. They have a great book selection too with all Hawaiian theme stories. I also found a bunch of Keiki Kaukau puzzles that I previously bought online and some new ones that I haven't seen before. I would've bought them all if we had any room left in our luggage! We ended up buying a few clothing items and a board book for our little guy. The owner of the shop was so friendly, and before each customer she would ask about the baby's size just to make sure it would fit well. She showed us how the swim shorts we got had an extendable waist to make them fit a bit longer, which we had no idea about! Stopped in this cute little shop while shopping in this center and they've got the sweetest baby gear you could ever find! The shop manager is very friendly and informative about the two brothers that create the designs for the hats and tee shirts, super cute! I bought a baby rooster stuffed animal as an island souvenir and the homemade wash clothes that have a mermaid design on them, very high quality. Honestly, this is a children's store for adults--not for children. The items were beautiful and would be fine as gifts. But going in there with a toddler is like a bull in a china shop and we were treated as such. I found a beautiful light weight quilt in Hawaiian prints that was sewn very well. Prices match the quality and the fact that you are buying local, not Made in China products which makes it well worth what you pay for. This boutique is a gem and carries mostly locally made blankets, toys, and clothing and a few brand name baby items. Super cute children's store in Haleiwa. My sister and brother in law and I all stopped in thinking it was just a regular overpriced kids place but there are SOO many cute outfits, toys and trinkets for little ones here. We walked around and the super helpful sales associate gave us a background on the company, inspiration and design, which totally helped my sister appreciate the pieces in the store. Wow!!! What a wonderful little boutique. It is locally owned and features a variety of hand designed clothes and other little trinkets for babies and kids. There were soooo many cute things and interesting books to choose from, all with a Hawaii theme. The owner was so delightful and personable! Tini Manini is my absolute favorite store to buy baby shower gifts or gifts for young children! I have to admit that when I saw the bikini store that had been there my entire life closing I was very sad and nostalgic thinking of all the custom bikinis I begged for as a child. Then when Tini Manini opened I couldn't be more thrilled. I bought many gifts for my friends with babies and toddlers before I moved to New York. Remembering things that Tini Manini carried that I wanted to get for people while I lived in New York, I would call and pay over the phone for gifts and they would wrap them and mail them for me which is so beyond ordinary customer service. Now that I'm back home I always make the trek to Haleiwa to buy gifts for my friends' children. The shop is filled with locally made toys, clothes, baby blankets, reusable diapers, and bibs. They also carry a bunch of books for children and have a lot of choices by local authors. It was here that I found my two favorite children's books to gift- A Coconut Named Bob and Too Many Mangos. Whether you're visiting or a local I definitely recommend having these books for the children in your life. The colors are absolutely gorgeous! If you're lucky enough to come in when April is there, you're in for a treat. I met her my first time venturing in. She's the owner and she is probably one of the sweetest people I've ever met. They not only have amazing products but great people who own the store. We were back on island visiting and stopped in twice during our visit. The first time in we noticed a great selection of unique items, many locally made. We were also pleased to notice that she offers a selection of cloth diapers. Our second time in we were in a bind, we left the diaper bag home and needed a diaper NOW. Our guy is in cloth so we popped in and purchased one of the pocket diapers. First, the price was very reasonable, comparable to what we've paid on the mainland for pocket diapers. The diaper has since entered our regular rotation and we love it. She also carries amber teething necklaces. If we were still living on island this would be my first stop for my kiddo. For now, all I can do is recommend to people on island for cloth diapers and natural baby care and to visitors for cute and unique gifts. read more

Aloha! Stopped in to see this new store filled with colorful clothing and gifts, many of which are made on the island! As a new grandmother I was happily surprised to find many treasures to take home to my little Charlotte (5 mo old). Now here I am in the Marin County rain receiving text photos from my daughter in Walnut Creek, CA of Charlotte in her onesie bikini in pink hibiscus print (with a heart shaped patch on the back). I can't imagine a lovelier way to brighten up the winter months... I bought several handmade bibs that are terry on one side (good absorbency) and floral cotton print on the other. The bibs adorn her outfits like a precious Hawaiian lei. My favorite gift to Charlotte is a handmade floral print sundress with matching bloomers. I know when Charlotte wears the outfit this summer it will inspire her parents to come with me next time, baby in tow to the magical Northshore. I don't remember the name of the sweet young lady that helped me with my selections, but it is clear that she is following her dream in retail.
