Funny thing: I've seen people wearing this apparel brand for years and assumed it was simply a brand of sporting equipment or something. LOL! Now that I know what it's really all about, you have to appreciate both the clothing and the mission. :) Although I wish they had a few more styles, colors, and/or clothing options, I am not complaining. I bought a great shirt that fits well with a simple but tasteful Hawaiian design on it. My wife purchased a tank top that she really likes, too. The store, which is fairly small, nonetheless has two fitting rooms so that you can try things on. The staff was friendly enough, and the products are neat and well organized. Pricing isn't cheap, but it's not higher than you would expect either. Many of the T-shirts are marked as fitted shirts, but to me they are normal. I don't fit into fitted shirts too well, and even after a wash, the shirt fits perfectly fine, so you are unlikely to have to size up. If you're in the area and are on board with the mission and message, you'd be remiss not to stop in! read more

HEgreaterthanI has been a well known brand among Christian circles and I've seen shirts and car decals in the Bay Area. They sold clothes, beach towels, notebooks, stickers, hats, mugs, and bags. I purchased stickers for my waterbottle and a couple shirts. Staff members are amazing and fun to talk to. There is plenty of parking but no bathroom. You'll have to go to the visitors center across the street. read more

Shopping in Haleiwa, O'ahu, Hawaii... My friend from Los Angeles wanted to go to this store called: He Is Greater Than I Their logo looks like HEKI - with the K backwards to make a "greater than" symbol It's a cool concept which reminds us of the relatively of our place in the world. Well... That's how I interpret it. Anyway, we had parked at Haleiwa Store Lots. We didn't want to lose our space, so, we walked all the way to He Is Greater Than I. LOL! It's kind of far when the sun is blazing down and there's no real sidewalk. It's like on the far side of the town... Maybe about a mile? Haha! When we got to our destination, we saw the shared parking lot with the post office. We sat in the cool air conditioning for a while and browsed through the tank tops, towels, notebooks, tote bags, stickers, and other merchandise. My friend bought a lot of things like long sleeved t-shirts. He was really happy! I was, too! The service was very friendly and the selection was really good! (Too bad there were no XXL shirts for his wife.) read more

Quality/Quantity - My family really likes this brand, but they usually buy from their online shop, so it is nice to be able to go to a physical location. Especially since I am old schooled and like to feel and try on clothes before I buying them, Got a tank top - of course since I am in HI. My wife got a t-shirt to match my daughter. And you can buy a bag for an extra $1 with a purchase. Atmosphere - Open 6 days a week, closed Sundays. Service - Excellent. Price - $27 a shirt, $1 bag with purchase; expensive, but we are paying for the message. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2003 (founded the concept) and 2008 (first shop), my family loves the message. read more

I had always seen these bumper stickers all around my home base of California, but I never really knew what they stood for. On a most recent cruise up to the North Shore of Oahu, the infamous logo on a storefront caught the corner of my eye, so I had to take a pitstop. Once inside, I was greeted by the kind staff, one of whom has extended family from my neck of the woods, so we had a nice, lengthy chat. After speaking more in depth with her, I learned that the name He Greater than i is based on a Bible verse, and the brand is meant to symbolize faith coupled with a distinctive Hawaiian island style. The clothing consists mainly of t-shirts and tank tops for men, women, and some kids, plus a few other accessories, such as hats and stickers. The best thing is that the religious theming is not overtly in your face, as the message is very subtle, but gets the point across. It is also something that a non-religious individual could easily rock on the street with no hesitation. For example, I myself am far from a religious man, even though I did attend Catholic school as a teen. I ended up purchasing something for myself because I feel the core values behind the brand are worth supporting, plus the designs are pretty darn cool! Of course, I also couldn't exit the premises without copping a few souvenirs for some of my devout Christian acquaintances! So the next time you take a jaunt up to the North Shore, after lunch at Giovanni's, Big Wave Shrimp, and all the other food trucks, make sure to stroll down the block to bag some stylish threads for yourself or as souvenirs. I think we all have enough of those "My ____ went to ____, and all I got was this lousy t-shirt" in our closets already! read more

It's a great spot! If you're familiar with the brand then definitely come to this store. They don't have a super wide selection, but there are some great finds. Service is wonderful. We liked chatting with the employees. Prices are consistent with online shop. Parking is on the side of the store. read more

It was a major bucket list to swing by this place and WOW WOW WOW! We almost bought one of everything; no lie. We loved being there LIVE to shop versus online. The staff were super kind; they asked where we were from and were "fascinated" because we apparently didn't have "Texan accents" - lol - we still have the shirts we bought from there and sadly we lost the stickers as we sold our car; we really need to order more stickers for our new cars. I highly recommend shopping here; the quality of the merch is amazing! read more

I had no idea this place was so great! I had wanted to drop in but seem to miss the times they are open so I went on line to look at their gear. I ended up with 12 items in my cart! Beautiful goodies for my entire family, including a couple stickers for my son. I had sent a question which was responded to immediately and my order shipped right away. This is the aloha I expect from a local store and I am happy to say HE is greater that i has aloha to spare. The merch is wonderful (quality) as well! Personally, I haven't been to the physical store, but I was an online customer back in 2009. The product I ordered was unfortunately on back-order. However, that extra time allowed me to contact the owners and switch my order from a red shirt to a blue one (my favorite color). Then it was delivered to me with no problem at all. They included a few more things in my care package that I shared with my other friends who also love the brand. This business is different from any other one I've dealt with in the best way possible. I think they have great values and are focused on giving the customers the best service they can provide. I will be coming back one day, I'm sure. Soon as I get a new motorcycle to put the sticker on. Trust me, it's good to remind yourself that someone's got your back at all times. read more

My boyfriend and I were excited to visit the original HEI store since we needed to stock up on some new shirts. I bought a crew neck sweater which is so soft and comfy, I also bought a t shirt but from the men's side in a small, I wasn't a big fan of the women's t shirt colors and design but I personally prefer to wear t-shirts that have a high neck compared to a v-neck, prices are very reasonable, a shirt is only $25 and my sweater was only $45, for original design I'd say that's not bad at all. Customer service was top notch and friendly, and I spent most of my time petting the cats outside the shops. Thank you HEI for your great message and quality clothing. read more

I love this store. By have fantastic merchandise with the same theme as the store name. From shirts to sweaters to snap backs to lanyards to stickers to notebooks, they have a nice selection of HEgreaterthani apparel and merchandise. They don't have a larger selection, so you cannot be super picky. But everything they do have is AWESOME. I've purchased three shirts, a couple sweaters, a SnapBack, two journals, countless stickers, and a couple keychains from them. The employees are always helpful, polite, patient, and kind. They are super chill. Parking is easy to spot and usually has room even during peak hours. The price of merchandise is a little on the high side, but not too bad. You're getting pretty high quality for a moderate price. Price and selection limitations are the only drawbacks for me. read more

I am not one to leave a review but let me just say this was one of the most helpful and personable service I have ever received from a retail shop. I went in Saturday (Christmas Eve) and the two young ladies working were so helpful and patient. (We had over 30 people in our group) The prices were a little higher than I would usually spend but because we just loved the message we were more than happy to purchase some items. They were a little low on sizes but we ended up finding a little something for each of us to enjoy. Over all great service and even greater message! 10/10 for mr! :) read more

I accidentally went to the Christian Bookstore next to the Post office and thought that was the HEgreaterthani store since they had the sticker on the door. The nice shopkeeper directed me to where it actually was, adjacent to the Pizza Hut. So embarrassing! There seems to be plenty of parking behind the Post Office and next to Pizza Hut. Located in Haleiwa just down the road from Giovanni's shrimp truck and McDonald's is a quaint little shop that sells t-shirts and tanks for men, women and children, hats, and stickers of all sizes. You may have seen the HE(isgreaterthan)I symbol everywhere, and this is where you can grab the gear. Prices are reasonable. Kids shirts are $20, women's tanks are $25. Smallest sticker starts at $3. They have two dressing rooms available if you need to try something on. Whenever we are in the area, we make it a point to come here to check out the latest styles and also get a sticker for our hydroflasks. The staff is always welcoming and they are never pushy. We will continue to come back because my kids love the shirts and always want different colors! read more

He Greater Than I is easy to find in Haleiwa off of Kam Highway. For a location reference point He Greater Than I is down the street from Giovanni's Shrimp Truck. The store shares a private lot with other stores just look out for signs prior to parking. The store is located right along the street. Very good customer service and friendly staff. My transaction was very smooth and had no issues. I came in to exchange a shirt then buy a few more products and they gave me a new bag. The store's hours are 10am-6pm just like the store in town. The exterior and interior of the store are well kept and very clean. The location is small but big enough. The stores layout is really nice, organized, not cluttered or overwhelming. They carry shirts, tanks and hoodies in mens, womens, and children sizes. Also have many accessories such as hats, stickers, mugs, and bags. The store carries a good inventory and size range. Everything they had at their website I saw in the store. The vinyl stickers are durable and produced very well. The shirts have good quality printing. The shirts materials are a soft cotton. The sizing/fitting and feel of the shirt is very similar to RVCA. The shirts have very simple designs and a variety of colors to chose from. If you are in town stop by and take a look. read more

I LOOOVE the products here. Yesterday I purchased a Weather Tech windbreaker with a hoodie. LOVE it. Also purchased two of the $6 keychains... so cool! I was looking for the 65% cotton t's but there were only 100% cotton in the store yesterday. A previous Yelper mentioned that she loves the products but is not too happy with the staff - I have to agree. I might have been greeted hello, I am not sure. But two other groups came in after me, a man and a woman, and then two Japan ladies. Both groups spent about 5 minutes in the store and then left. They were not asked if they had any questions or needed help. I am not sure if the two working behind the counter thought that I would leave fast, but they did not ask me if I had any questions or needed help finding anything. When I was at the register, a man helped me. When asking if my windbreaker would shrink when I washed it, he gave me a curt "No." I also asked another question and was given another curt answer. When leaving, the lady behind the counter said Bye. It's hard when the customer service is not 5 stars, thank goodness the products are 5 stars! read more

LOVE the brand, the mission, the people, EVERYTHING about this company! I rock their stuff constantly; laptop, phone, on my paddle, on my SUP, my car, sunglasses, etc. I even carry their business card in my wallet so I can pass it out when people are interested in learning more about them. I first got addicted when I visited their original distributor in Maui at the Queen Ka'ahumanu Mall back in 2007. It has been amazing to watch them grow tremendously in the last few years. They are truly one of the greatest underground clothing lines in the islands. But most importantly is their mission to spread the word of God not just here, but everywhere! It's crazy how many stickers are out on the road these days. I have not been to their new location (now in Haleiwa next to Pizza Hut). They are open 10-4 on Monday, 10-5 Tuesday through Saturday, closed on Sunday. Every time I went into their old place in Waialua, their staff was awesome and would usually throw in some free stickers. I have also bought stuff online from them and their shipping is lighting fast! Even when I was still on the mainland. We come here for every vacation when we are in the Island. The place is great. The selection of clothing isn't big. They run out of stuff fast. I wish they had a medium pink sticker, but it's ok. The staff is nice. The owner or the older lady needs to be more friendly. We walked in and we were the only ones in there. She could have said hi or something. She just left the building to do something else and came in. She seemed annoyed or something. They should be more welcoming. If HE is Greater I than you should show that. Prices are high. The customer service... I'm not too sure about. If you're a store and you are selling stuff. Be welcoming. We had to go and ask questions. Be available to help. read more

So I finally made it to the Hale'iwa store and I was amazed! They have a great store with tons of items to choose from and the most helpful staff on the island. I kinda miss the Waialua spot a little but am quick to forget it as the store and brand's success is gratifying. This crew works hard and they deserve the success that He has granted them. There's many items here that make great gifts or additions to your wardrobe. Also the best place to get you HEgreaterthani decals and stickers. If you need to replace the one you bought from someone that bootlegged their logo or dont have one for your car or hydroflask visit them in the north shore or their Nimitz location or Cali store or online. read more

LOVE these shirts and the message behind the logo! We lived in Hawaii for several years and now that we're on the mainland again, I really missed having the new styles. So, ordered online and in just a few days received in the mail the "Women's Island Logo Tee in Army Green" and it's awesome! The fit is perfect, great length, and the scoop neckline is just right. Apparently the only HEgreatthani store. Some may consider this store small but I feel like it's perfect especially with the amount of clothes out on the floor. Simple is best. Immediately welcomed with the aloha spirit from the staff. It is very organized by color, size and types of shirts and jackets. This was a must-go on my list when making a trip to the North Shore. Browsing around I enjoyed the various items the carry from beachwear and accessories to jewelry and various totes and even a fun puzzle postcard sharing the aloha spirit is very fun and unique here along with shirts with the local fun sayings had me smiling with a fun way to express your vibe for the day. The service here seems very friendly as she was very into the conversation with a guest that went on and on is great as I was busy browsing some of the items was quite pricey though do carry some unique items but it was a nice and comfortable place to shop. Yes, they have lots and lots of bikinis in many styles, colors and sizes. Even a chart that shows the amount of "cheek" exposed based in the cut. They have lots of clothing, too. The cutest jumpsuits and rompers, so easy to put on and immediately be ready to go wearever. And dresses if every length from mini to maxi dresses. Of course there are lacy beach cover ups, t-shirts, totes, hats, and even some jewelry, most with colors of the sea. With the racks of clothing there doesn't seem to be a code for how the items are organized! Different colors, lengths and patterns of different items all on the same rack in no apparent order. Take your time to go through them and find one that speaks to you. They really are quite pretty. The young lady working that day was super friendly, engaging in conversation as I shopped. I particularly loved the light maxi dresses in various beach patterns - tie dye, florals, soft colors. And the jewelry, specifically the long dangly earrings with pale blue stones. I have so many earrings in colors of the sea that I had to pass on them this trip. But I will be back! Have someone snap your pic in the bikini board out front for a memory of your trip to the North Shore!

Such a great local shop in the Matsumoto's shopping center. If you appreciate well-made pieces, good energy, and supporting North Shore businesses, Mahina is a must. They do have other stores across the island but not only is this one close to me on the North Shore, it's a vibe also sets it apart. Oh! Umm lady...the easiest solution is to put a sign up so customers can see it BEFORE they walk into the store like the other stores do!!! But instead you decided to embarrass us! My kids are 18 and 13, not 8 and 3. Shame on you!!! We'll never step foot back in this place again!

It is located in a house that has been converted into a retail shop. It is quaint and unassuming. It has some major brand inventory--but the majority of its stock is clothing and accessories of their own design. They have some designs that feature a "bridge" (a nod to the nearby bridge that crosses the Anahulu River), and some designs that feature a rooster (a wink to all of those feral chickens that you see running around). You can go to their website for online shopping--but the online shop does not have all of the items available in store. Sometimes I think the term "authentic" is overused nowadays; but the shop does feel "of a place".

This location had such a fun vibe and so much to choose from for the whole family. Here is where we met Merv! He was super nice and helpful with things we were intersed in purchasing. We left happy with our items. Shortly after realizing these alerts were to take serious and we would need to get to higher ground, we headed for our transportation, which was the bus. The bus wasn't coming anytime soon and we knew we were far from our hotel. Something told us to rush back to Merv! Thank goodness we did, he and Hunter graciously let us hitch a ride into their town Mililani, where we would be safer while we waited things out. Merv's kindness just continued and he and his family gave us shelter into their welcoming home! They showed us Angelenos what the Aloha spirit is. If you are on Oahu visiting, go to the HIC store in Haleiwa and you just might meet a real life hero - Merv!

I hope the staff receive additional customer service training, as a more positive and attentive approach would benefit both customers and the business.

A children's bookstore should feel magical. It should feel like curiosity, discovery, imagination and the joy of finding something unexpected. For years, that's exactly what this place felt like. The people working here used to introduce us to local authors. They'd recommend books we never would have picked up on our own. They'd engage with our family. They'd make the experience feel special. This visit felt like the complete opposite. We arrived shortly before closing with our children. That's on us. We weren't expecting anyone to stay late. We weren't expecting special treatment. We simply wanted to browse for a few minutes and hopefully buy a few books. Instead, we were repeatedly reminded how much time was left. "Can I help you?" "You have about five minutes." "Anything I can help you find?" Over and over again. Not in a warm way. Not in a helpful way. Not in a "let me help you find something before we close" way. In a "please hurry up and leave" way. The saddest part wasn't even what was said. It was what wasn't. Nobody greeted my children. Nobody asked what they liked to read. Nobody pointed them toward a favorite book. Nobody shared a local recommendation. Nobody created even a single moment of wonder inside a children's bookstore. And just like that, the magic disappeared. The irony is that bookstores aren't really selling books anymore. You can buy books anywhere. They're selling atmosphere. They're selling community. They're selling the feeling that wandering through shelves is still worth doing in an age when everything can be ordered online. That's why this visit was so disappointing. The books were still there. The shelves were still there. The store was still there. But the warmth that made the place special seemed completely gone. After years of visiting and happily spending money here, I walked out feeling like my family had overstayed our welcome. For a children's bookstore, that's a surprisingly sad thing to feel. We won't be back. Update after the owner's response: The response mostly proves the problem. My review was never about the exact minute we walked in, whether closing procedures exist or whether the shop prefers to be called a children's retail store instead of a bookstore. Those are technicalities. The issue was hospitality. We came in with our kids ready to buy before leaving the North Shore. Instead, the visit felt managed, rushed and oddly defensive. Explaining the drawer, the folding, the vacuuming and the five minute window may explain the staff's priorities, but it does not change the customer experience. Future customers can decide for themselves. My point is simple: a children's shop should know how to make families feel welcome. This visit did not.

If you want local snacks, cheap souvenirs, or just a good walk, this is the place to be. Every time I visit, I end up finding something great, but this specific trip was a massive win. I had been on a hunt for coconut apple (the spongy, sweet embryo inside a mature coconut)...I had been to another marketplace, but this was the spot where I found it. I walked stall by stall, asking the vendors. Some gave me a knowing look, and some didn't, but when I found it, I was happy and able to relive my childhood memories of eating this. Between hunting down rare local treats and scoring great deals on shirts, gear, and random finds, you easily get your dollar's worth here. Just make sure to bring cash, wear comfortable shoes, and get there early before the sun really starts beating down.

The T-shirts are very expensive! $18 for kids and $23 and $33+ for adults. I would think that a religious themed company would follow the spirit of Jesus's teachings and not be so materialistic. The gesture of offering their products at no or minimum markup and requesting donations to pay the bills would be in the spirit of Christian faith and Jesus teachings. My question is does any of the profit the clever owners make off their religious patrons go to Christian charities? Can customers see the accounting books of the company from an independent accountant to see that the money they make is being used charitably? Maybe the owners are using a strategy of religion to guarantee a willing customer base? I just don't see how a religious company can ethically be a for-profit company if they follow Jesus's teachings. It is like a local church being run like a business for the benefit of the clergy. After all the owners of "He I" (Yelp does not allow "symbols") store ARE preaching religion so they are by defacto a religious institution representing the teachings of Jesus (Christianity), but arguably, not following them as far as we have been informed through their website. Christians should expect more transparency of this company. Has the Christian faith become nothing more than a marketing strategy to make money? Jesus would be ashamed. read more
