The best greek food I've had outside of Greece, every dish was STELLAR! Such a beautiful ambiance - they really have the setting locked in. We got a variety of dishes and truly loved every single one. The Pikilia Traditional was a great way to try all of the dips - the eggplant was incredible. The Crispy Feta was one of my favorite dishes of the night, amazing texture and the sauce it was served with was on another level. We also enjoyed the Horiatiki Traditional Salad, the dressing was great. I enjoyed my dinner with the wine flight, which was a great enhancement. Yamas is a relatively new addition to Austin's Mediterranean dining scene and I recently visited for a special occasion. Overall, I had a good experience but I can't say I was completely blown away. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with bright white aesthetics that give off a Greek island vibe. I also loved the mural on the exterior wall and the flower arch at the entrance, which makes for a great first impression. Parking however, was a bit tricky. My Uber driver had some difficulty getting close to the entrance because of the layout and traffic flow around the restaurant. As for the food I decided to order the lamb since that's usually a standout dish at a Greek restaurant. Unfortunately, it didn't quite work for me. I'm not sure if it was the gaminess of the lamb or maybe the cocktail I had beforehand, but I started feeling queasy midway through dinner and had to step away for a bit. Luckily I recovered, but I wasn't able to finish the dish and mostly stuck to the fries and side salad afterward. My partner also mentioned that his beef dish was slightly overcooked. Service was a little inconsistent as well. It was a busy night, so I understand things can get hectic, but our waiter wasn't very attentive and rarely checked in on us throughout the meal. Maybe I ordered the wrong dish or came on an off night, but at this price point I've honestly had better experiences at a few other Mediterranean restaurants in Austin. Very similar to Santorini, Greece the building is all white with bright pink flowers at the entry way, on the side of the building and the outside gazebo. There is a striking mural on the building façade as well as a captivating mural at the entry way. Inside interior has a tropical, don't worry be happy vibe. The restaurant is open and airy. Yesterday, I took a good, long-term friend (25+ years) out to lunch for her birthday. We started with the Mezze Pikilia Traditional sampler platter -Tzatziki, Spicy Feta, Hummus, Eggplant Salad (not a fan, but loved this one!), served with Grilled Pita. My friend had lamb chops and I had the salmon entree. The lamb chops, while cooked just a little too long, had explosive flavor. My salmon swimming in an olive mixture was perfect...enough said! We could not finish our appetizer or all of our entrees...very generous portions. Needless to say, the food was exceptional! Then they brought my friend a birthday cake with a sparkler... nice touch. The cake was next level good. Xen was a great server checking on us rather frequently to ensure our needs were being met. The restaurant manager also came over to check on us. I absolutely love going here for their happy hour. It's one of those hidden gems that gets excluded because it's not in downtown but I love this place. They have incredible seafood appetizers, the octopus is great. Their lamb chops are stellar and their salads are amazing. First visit to Yama's yesterday in a beautiful Spring Sunday. We sat inside cuz it gets hot so quickly. Service was slow. We didn't have anyone visit our table for 15+ minutes after were were seated, and we had a paid reservation. We finally got water and placed an order for drinks and food right then. Drinks took almost 30 minutes to get. The food was prompt, beautiful, delicious and well plated. We enjoyed our meal. I'd come a different day of the week next time They had a small brunch menu and a more substantial regular menu- both available at noon on a Sunday. read more

I found myself here again for plate breaking and other fun activities for their 3 year anniversary celebration this past weekend! We had a smaller group this time with the 6 of us and this time they had activities in their parking lot. Thankfully there was parking available next door at the church parking lot. We enjoyed great food and drinks inside. Our server was super helpful and ensured our drinks had the sugar/syrup removed so that we enjoyed everything. We then moved outside for the activities like dancing, plate breaking, tequila tastings, magician acts, delicious lamb tasting, and photos with donkeys. They also had some craft vendors there in case anyone wanted to buy things like jewelry, purses, etc. It was such a fun vibe and thankfully despite some short sprinkles/rain drops, the weather cooperated for the outdoor activities. Very, very cool, they nailed it with the design. Plenty of parking too. The food was good, honestly the Yamas chips were my favorite thing. I didn't get an entrée bc we always just order several things and pass it around. Upon walking in it gets progressively louder. I think this is the loudest place I've been in years. They do birthdays where the staff bring out a little flaming candle and sing and it was a lot. There must have been 6 birthdays last night. Of course people should celebrate that's not what I'm suggesting, but it was a lot. If you've been to Cala, it's like that. In my view, it is such a beautiful place the noise detracted from that. I came here recently for a quick lunch. Luckily they weren't busy so I was able to grab a spot for a quick bite. I love that they have a fixe menu option for lunch. I got the salad either salmon entree. I did also get a side of hummus and pita bread. The hummus was creamy and savory. I added a touch of lemon to add some tang to it. It had roasted garlic so it had a great aroma to it and it paired well with the garlic pita bread. The salad had a light vinaigrette dressing tossed with avocado, feta, grapes, and dill. It was actually light and refreshing! The salmon was grilled to perfection and it paired well with the asparagus and green beans. Not sure what sauce it was but it was really good with a slight creaminess to it. The course ended with greek yogurt with honey and fruits. Overall the meal with very good! A Magical Escape to Greece in the Heart of Austin From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with huge smiles, genuine eye contact, and immediate attention. We didn't have a reservation, but we were still seated in the most beautiful spot in their garden, and this photo says it all. The vibrant bougainvillea, the Santorini-blue accents, the sun-washed whites, the breezy cushions... it truly feels like you've stepped off a plane and onto a Greek island. As soon as you arrive at Yemma's, you get the feeling you've left Texas completely. The décor is stunning in a way that makes you pause for a second and think, "Wait... am I still in Austin?" It's intimate, airy, and straight-up Mediterranean magic. Our waitress was professional, courteous, attentive, and intuitive. She quickly realized we were first-timers and gave us fantastic recommendations for both food and drinks. We ordered the spanakopita (spinach pie) and the steamed mussels, along with a spritz cocktail and a glass of white wine. Was it cheap? No, but this is Austin, and this is voted Austin's best Greek restaurant for a reason. Everything was beautifully prepared, packed with flavor, and truly memorable. I really enjoyed the food at Yamas. Our table of six shared several dishes. The space is a good model of Santorini , whites, blues and bougainvillea. We had a 6 pm reservation but our table wasn't ready so the manager offered us glasses of champagne. We were seated on the patio. The loud, pounding music was a bit too much for everyone near the speakers. Finally a person turned the speaker to the wall and that helped. Pro-tip: Happy Hour is NOT on Fridays. We did make a reservation for earlier in the evening, thinking there was happy hour, but it turned out Fridays are not included. Yamas has a beautiful aesthetic, and it's clear they put effort into maintaining it's look (obviously a great insta background). We visibly saw staff keeping things orderly, wiping surfaces, and cleaning common (and uncommon) spaces. Food is delicious. We appreciate the family-style, allowing us all to share as a table. The Pikilia Traditional platter allowed us to try different spreads with pita (the spicy feta was my favorite) and the whole branzino, with lemon and capers, was perfect. Plentiful options, meeting the needs of all our guests. Shrimp Saganaki - chef's kiss! Shrimp, plum tomatoes, green peppers, crumbled feta, oregano, garnished with ouzo. We do look forward to returning to enjoy some more meat options, as we focused more on veggies and fish. We ordered several apps (feta, dips, calamari) and all of them were so yummy. I personally ordered the short rib orzo and it was SO delicious and the portion was HUGE. When someone is celebrating, the staff and owner really lean in: they play a themed song (like "Happy Birthday"), bring out sparklers, and wave towels while joining in on the fun. Y'all, We had a time! This was a party of 10, birthday brunch, Sunday at noon. I didn't even know this place was here and just down the road from Chez Zee (one of my faves). When I first arrived I pulled up into the parking area and I noticed a sign that said there was additional parking across the street and next door at the church. Of course there was no parking in the main lot so I just went across the street and there was plenty of parking. When you walk in it is like walking into lil Greek Restaurant in Santorini, there's so much beautiful white and brilliant blue, The bar is even a vibe, there's a beautiful patio with plenty of seating connected to the restaurant as well as across the entry in the parking lot. Plenty of seating. There was a DJ out on the patio, tucked away. I had no idea he was there until someone pointed it out. But the music was a whole vibe. We started our dining experience with drinks, there is a full bar so I ordered an Aperol spritz. We also ordered the Pikilia Traditional as an appetizer for the table. That was such a good decision. The spicy feta, hummus and eggplant salad were a hit. I will definitely order that again. I ordered the Moussaka, I was intrigued by the ingredients and I was well rewarded with the flavor. My goodness, That was delicious and such a great choice. It was so nice of the owner, Roxy, to bring housemaid shots to the table, celebrating the birthday girl. Roxy was the sweetest, I noticed she came in and hugged people at the bar people behind the bar and was just social and very engaging. When we were all done eating the crew came out with sparklers and desserts for the birthday girl, The DJ played "Happy birthday to ya"! It was so fun!!! There were so many events happening in the restaurant, birthdays and baby showers, So there was a lot of sparkling and singing. When we are leaving the owner hugged each of us and thanked us for coming in, That was a special added touch. Anywho, We had such a great experience from the attentive and friendly service, to the delicious food and drinks, to the DJ playing all the greatest hits of '90s & 2000s, to the kindness offered by the owner. To Whom It May Concern, My daughter took me out to dinner on May 26, at your establishment. For my birthday and a celebration of life. So, this was an important meal. I have been looking forward to enjoying your amazing food for weeks. We sat outside. Josh was our waiter. The food was amazing, as expected. (We were disappointed that you did not have horta.) Josh was awful. He was very inattentive. It was obvious we were his only table outside. We could watch him at an inside table that he was very attentive to - including spending at least 5 minutes with one table while we were waiting to order our main course. We had other wait staff check on us more than Josh. This includes one of the gentlemen that bus the tables. We were waiting for Josh's return as we were planning to order more food. No Josh, no extra orders. Once our meal was delivered, mostly by others, we never saw Josh again. We actually had to ask another waiter for our check. We were planning to order some food to go. Thanks to Josh's lack of caring, sending the message that we were not important, we did not get any food to go. There was an amazing waiter that did check on us, multiple times, even though we were not his table. I am sorry to say I did not get his name as I would love to compliment his outstanding work. He was soft spoken and very attentive to his tables. He is a young black man. I truly wish we had been at one of his tables. Did a great job of checking up on us and not interrupting conversations like some places might do. We started with the watermelon salad, with feta cheese. The watermelon, being out of season, wasn't as sweet and tasty, but I can't ding this place for that because we're not in season for that. My main dish, Pastitsio, which was layered with tubular pasta and Greek style ground beef with a bechamel sauce. And it was most excellent and I would advise unless you're absolutely famished, be ready to share or take some home. Otherwise, you might embarrass yourself if you eat the entire thing by yourself.. I liked the offering of multiple dips as an appetizer and thought the eggplant one was really delicious. The hummus was just OK though. I was really disappointed in my chicken kebab. I felt it really lacked flavor. In addition, my side of rice was a rice pilaf which I definitely think should have been stated on the menu, considering with the addition of pasta in the mixture, it could definitely be an allergen for some. We came in for a birthday dinner to celebrate one of our gals. Upon arriving, the parking is not the best. If you pull into the tiny lot where the restaurant is, you have to back out into the street to find another lot. Dangerous and not ideal. There is a church next door with lots of parking and a small outdoor are which seems to be a part of Yamas for sunnier weather. Website should definitely mention something about parking. Once we were inside, we were promptly greeted but the hostess and the ambiance/decor was so nice and beautiful. We were seated and brought water quickly. The other staff walking around were polite too and friendly. Our waitress was nice enough, but seemed more concerned with other tables and wanted us to just order. They were busy, but she seemed more bubbly towards other tables. We ordered some apps and they were good, came out timely. We received our entrees not long after and it was tasty! I enjoyed the short rib and orzo. The orzo did seem like a mixture of rice and orzo though, menu mentions only orzo. THE BIG: Located in the Highland Park area of Austin. This place is a vibe with disco balls and pink flowers. Parking lot available but small, may need to park across the street. THE BLACK AND WHITE: We came here for brunch with a couple of friends and I would say, this is one of the vibiest brunches in town. There's a disco ball and eventually house music will start playing with some crazy drops. We wanted to try a little bit of everything so we did family style and grabbed the watermelon salad, the sweet hazelnut pancakes, chicken skewers, the meatballs (aka keftedakia) and the smashed boureki. My favorite bite was the chicken skewers, the meat was so tender and juicy. The hazelnut pancake was a nice way to end the meal with a sweet finish. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall the damage done was around $150 for five dishes, coffee, and tea. Not a bad place if you're craving mediterranean. read more

Service and ambiance were acceptable, and we have enjoyed this venue in the past, for the menu and the Greek cuisine have always impressed us. Today, though, they were nothing to write home about. The food was wonderful in the past, until they changed the menu, They now offer beef and lamb kebabs as overly salted, overly spiced, and severely over cooked ground beef/lamb, cooked to a crisp, despite our server informing us beforehand that the meat would be cooked to medium because any other way spoils the meat. So, these dried crunch balls which are so salty, it was like eating miso straight, fail miserably for our taste (all three guests). Price for 1 beer, 2 Greek salads with kebab totals $42.50. This is one of my favorite places in Austin. The food is really yummy, but what I love just as much is the decor. It reminds me so much of Mykonos and Santorini, which are two of my favorite places, so the whole vibe feels like a little Greek getaway. If you're celebrating a birthday, they play a birthday song and make it really fun, which I love. The shrimp plate is my favorite dish, and all the appetizers are delicious too. It's a great spot for big groups, and it's usually not too hard to get a reservation. They also have a big parking lot in the back, which makes things easy. The restaurant has two sections, one across the street and another near the parking area. The lamb rack is really good, and the saganaki cheese is amazing. Overall, it's such a cute place with great food, fun energy, and a beautiful atmosphere. Definitely one of my go-to spots in Austin. read more

From the moment you walk in, you feel like you've stepped straight into a scene from Mamma Mia, bright, lively, and full of that effortless Greek charm. The service was incredible, our server was attentive, constantly checking in, refilling our waters before we even had to ask, and giving great recommendations on how much and what to order. We started with drinks, which were honestly some of my favorite cocktails in Austin. I ordered a margarita and asked for the server's favorite, it was perfect. For food, we shared the Pukilia traditional, calamari, watermelon salad, and grilled salmon. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Between the atmosphere, the drinks, and the amazing service, it felt like a little Greek getaway right here in Austin. My wife and I came to Yamas with a couple of friends. It was a Friday evening, around 6:30 PM or so. We were able to get a table without a reservation, HOWEVER, I'd recommend making a reservation beforehand. We were told from the beginning that they could seat us but because of reservations later that evening we would need to finish our meal by __:__ PM, which we were fine with given we were getting the opportunity to dine-in. The restaurant itself is very nice inside and out, was impressed with the decor. Our server greeted us promptly, took our order and attended to us throughout our meal regularly. They seemed to be well-aware of the coming reservations so they were really on top of it with us. As an appetizer we ordered the "Pikilia Traditional"--Tzatziki, Spicy Feta, Hummus, and Kalamata Olive Paste served with Pita bread. All of the selections were delicious! We loved the variety and the portioning was great for 4. When we'd run out of pita, there was no issue for us to ask for more. The pita was nice and soft. To eat I ordered the "Seafood Pasta"--linguine pasta served with shrimp, calamari, mussels, tomato sauce, and lobster bisque. As a seafood-lover this plate was perfect! I came to this location over the summer with Thing Two and have finally decided to add to the review for my time there. I love coming here as the decor reminds me of my time in Greece. The namesake for this spot "Yamas" means "to our health" in Greek which is said during a toast. But, really it's more than just a toast when this term is used, it's said as a heartfelt blessing that celebrates life and invokes good health. Grilled Salmon with celery root puree and dill sauce Salmon is one of my favorite fishes. The color, oily, juicy texture and strong flavor make to be unique and recognizable. Dill is a perfect match for salmon. Dill complements salmon's flavor and enhances its subtle notes without overpowering it. The feathery leaves of the dill plant add a fresh, herbaceous, lemony flavor that goes well with the rich, oily nature of salmon. The celery root puree on this dish is just a bonus as it can be used for any number of any reasons. However the aromatic celery root pairs beautifully with smoked fish in general. I was most impressed with the flakiness of the fish and the flavor profile. Thing Two was being a pre-teen and wanted to be picky "but she doesn't even know what she wants" - Teddy Swims Because of this, the staff decided to make her something off menu. What was it? Fresh cut steak french fries (different from the Greek fries). The fries were thick, crisp and fresh. Thing Two wasn't impressed with the fries but I take that review with a grain of salt. I also ordered two mixed drinks but was also brought out of a free shot of Ouzo to take with the other customers. Ouzo which is a dry, anise-flavored aperitif is the national drink of Greece. It is made by distilling rectified spirits and flavoring them. Ouzo has a similar taste to other anise liquors, such as pastis, sambuca, mastika, and rakı. The Ouzo was a great way to finish off my meal and to clear my palate. The service and food here is top-notch. My waiter went out of his way to make sure that Thing Two had something that she would like to eat as opposed to being limited to the menu offerings.
