I recently tried out Yamas for the first time and loved the decor! It's very much a celebration restaurant, as there were 5 large groups, including my own, that was out to celebrate a birthday. They provide the birthday person with a complimentary dessert while the staff presents it to music. The food is on the pricey side, but the portions on some plates were large enough to share. I tried the Makaronia Me Kima (spaghetti with meat sauce) and Kotosoupa (chicken and rice soup). The spaghetti was okay, but only because there was either nutmeg or some similar spice added in the meat. The chicken soup was really good, but had a strong lemon taste. All cocktails and wine ranged from about $15-20+. Note- their online menu is slightly different from the menu provided at the restaurant. The place is beautiful-an elegant representation of a Greek Island in white and blue. The food is amazing. We had multiple appetizers, the calamari is the best I have ever had; the spanakopita was delectable presented differently than most Greek restaurants. Being Greek and visiting Austin, trying the local Greek restaurant was a must. I'd heard Yamas was the best Greek spot in town, so my brother, my daughter, and I decided to see if it lived up to the hype. From the moment we arrived, it felt like we had been transported to a little taverna on a Greek island. The crisp white walls, iconic blue window frames and shutters, and charming atmosphere immediately set the tone. Even more impressive was the hospitality. From the hostess to our server, and even the owner stopping by our table, everyone embodied the warm, welcoming Greek hospitality I grew up with. The appetizer menu was so tempting that we wished we had ten stomachs. We settled on the octopus, spanakopita, saganaki, keftedes, and a horiatiki salad, and I'm so glad we did. The octopus was cooked perfectly, tender and seasoned with excellence. The spanakopita was beautifully flaky with a satisfying crunch, and the filling was rich and flavorful. The tzatziki was incredibly fresh and honestly some of the best I've had in a long time. The biggest surprise of the night was the saganaki served with fig jam. I never would have thought those flavors belonged together, but they absolutely did. It was a standout dish. The keftedes were also fantastic, juicy, well-seasoned, and packed with flavor. For our entrées, we ordered the pastitsio, gouvetsi, and chicken souvlaki. While the appetizers truly stole the show, the main courses didn't quite reach the same level. We did arrive close to closing time, so that may have played a role. The pastitsio had great flavor overall, and the béchamel was beautifully prepared, but some of the pasta was a bit firm, and I personally would have loved a touch more cinnamon. The gouvetsi had excellent texture, but it was a little too salty for my taste, but that didn't stop my daughter from devouring it. The chicken souvlaki was unfortunately on the dry side and a bit tough. Even with those minor disappointments, I'd absolutely return. The menu is filled with so many traditional Greek comfort foods that I'd love to come back and explore more of what they have to offer. The appetizers alone are worth the visit, and the atmosphere and genuine hospitality made the experience feel like a little taste of Greece right here in Austin. My friend had lamb chops and I had the salmon entree. The lamb chops, while cooked just a little too long, had explosive flavor. My salmon swimming in an olive mixture was perfect...enough said! Yamas is a relatively new addition to Austin's Mediterranean dining scene and I recently visited for a special occasion. Overall, I had a good experience but I can't say I was completely blown away. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with bright white aesthetics that give off a Greek island vibe. I also loved the mural on the exterior wall and the flower arch at the entrance, which makes for a great first impression. Parking however, was a bit tricky. My Uber driver had some difficulty getting close to the entrance because of the layout and traffic flow around the restaurant. As for the food I decided to order the lamb since that's usually a standout dish at a Greek restaurant. Unfortunately, it didn't quite work for me. I'm not sure if it was the gaminess of the lamb or maybe the cocktail I had beforehand, but I started feeling queasy midway through dinner and had to step away for a bit. Luckily I recovered, but I wasn't able to finish the dish and mostly stuck to the fries and side salad afterward. My partner also mentioned that his beef dish was slightly overcooked. Service was a little inconsistent as well. It was a busy night, so I understand things can get hectic, but our waiter wasn't very attentive and rarely checked in on us throughout the meal. First visit to Yama's yesterday in a beautiful Spring Sunday. We sat inside cuz it gets hot so quickly. Service was slow. We got a variety of dishes and truly loved every single one. The Pikilia Traditional was a great way to try all of the dips - the eggplant was incredible. I came here recently for a quick lunch. Luckily they weren't busy so I was able to grab a spot for a quick bite. I love that they have a fixe menu option for lunch. I got the salad either salmon entree. I did also get a side of hummus and pita bread. The hummus was creamy and savory. I added a touch of lemon to add some tang to it. It had roasted garlic so it had a great aroma to it and it paired well with the garlic pita bread. The salad had a light vinaigrette dressing tossed with avocado, feta, grapes, and dill. It was actually light and refreshing! The salmon was grilled to perfection and it paired well with the asparagus and green beans. Not sure what sauce it was but it was really good with a slight creaminess to it. The course ended with greek yogurt with honey and fruits. Overall the meal with very good! As soon as you arrive at Yemma's, you get the feeling you've left Texas completely. The décor is stunning in a way that makes you pause for a second and think, "Wait... am I still in Austin?" It's intimate, airy, and straight-up Mediterranean magic. Our waitress was professional, courteous, attentive, and intuitive. She quickly realized we were first-timers and gave us fantastic recommendations for both food and drinks. I found myself here again for plate breaking and other fun activities for their 3 year anniversary celebration this past weekend! We had a smaller group this time with the 6 of us and this time they had activities in their parking lot. Thankfully there was parking available next door at the church parking lot. We enjoyed great food and drinks inside. Our server was super helpful and ensured our drinks had the sugar/syrup removed so that we enjoyed everything. We then moved outside for the activities like dancing, plate breaking, tequila tastings, magician acts, delicious lamb tasting, and photos with donkeys. Pro-tip: Happy Hour is NOT on Fridays. We did make a reservation for earlier in the evening, thinking there was happy hour, but it turned out Fridays are not included. Yamas has a beautiful aesthetic, and it's clear they put effort into maintaining it's look (obviously a great insta background). We visibly saw staff keeping things orderly, wiping surfaces, and cleaning common (and uncommon) spaces. Food is delicious. We appreciate the family-style, allowing us all to share as a table. The Pikilia Traditional platter allowed us to try different spreads with pita (the spicy feta was my favorite) and the whole branzino, with lemon and capers, was perfect. Plentiful options, meeting the needs of all our guests. Shrimp Saganaki - chef's kiss! Shrimp, plum tomatoes, green peppers, crumbled feta, oregano, garnished with ouzo. We do look forward to returning to enjoy some more meat options, as we focused more on veggies and fish. Y'all, We had a time! This was a party of 10, birthday brunch, Sunday at noon. I didn't even know this place was here and just down the road from Chez Zee (one of my faves). When I first arrived I pulled up into the parking area and I noticed a sign that said there was additional parking across the street and next door at the church. Of course there was no parking in the main lot so I just went across the street and there was plenty of parking. When you walk in it is like walking into lil Greek Restaurant in Santorini, there's so much beautiful white and brilliant blue, The bar is even a vibe, there's a beautiful patio with plenty of seating connected to the restaurant as well as across the entry in the parking lot. Plenty of seating. There was a DJ out on the patio, tucked away. I had no idea he was there until someone pointed it out. But the music was a whole vibe. We started our dining experience with drinks, there is a full bar so I ordered an Aperol spritz. We also ordered the Pikilia Traditional as an appetizer for the table. That was such a good decision. The spicy feta, hummus and eggplant salad were a hit. I will definitely order that again. I ordered the Moussaka, I was intrigued by the ingredients and I was well rewarded with the flavor. My goodness, That was delicious and such a great choice. It was so nice of the owner, Roxy, to bring housemaid shots to the table, celebrating the birthday girl. Roxy was the sweetest, I noticed she came in and hugged people at the bar people behind the bar and was just social and very engaging. When we were all done eating the crew came out with sparklers and desserts for the birthday girl, The DJ played "Happy birthday to ya"! It was so fun!!! There were so many events happening in the restaurant, birthdays and baby showers, So there was a lot of sparkling and singing. When we are leaving the owner hugged each of us and thanked us for coming in, That was a special added touch. The watermelon, being out of season, wasn't as sweet and tasty, but I can't ding this place for that because we're not in season for that. My main dish, Pastitsio, which was layered with tubular pasta and Greek style ground beef with a bechamel sauce. The food is pretty good, but also pretty pricey in my opinion. Nothing to outstanding and kind of forgettable. Shrimp Pasta: good, basic shrimp pasta. Comes with a lot of shrimp! Moussaka: essentially a greek lasagna. Layers of minced beef, eggplant, and potatoes. The potatoes were firm. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad. The food is GOOD. We came in for a birthday dinner to celebrate one of our gals. Upon arriving, the parking is not the best. If you pull into the tiny lot where the restaurant is, you have to back out into the street to find another lot. Dangerous and not ideal. There is a church next door with lots of parking and a small outdoor are which seems to be a part of Yamas for sunnier weather. Website should definitely mention something about parking. Once we were inside, we were promptly greeted but the hostess and the ambiance/decor was so nice and beautiful. We were seated and brought water quickly. The other staff walking around were polite too and friendly. Our waitress was nice enough, but seemed more concerned with other tables and wanted us to just order. They were busy, but she seemed more bubbly towards other tables. We ordered some apps and they were good, came out timely. We received our entrees not long after and it was tasty! I enjoyed the short rib and orzo. The orzo did seem like a mixture of rice and orzo though, menu mentions only orzo. Between the waitress, parking, and food, that's why I am giving them 3 stars instead of 4. Cute place, but I'll leave it to my friends to visit next time on their own. Onto new options! read more

Food was amazing! Cooked to perfection. The experience is an event and soooo much fun. The only critique was the service. It was a bit slow and I found myself looking around for my server. The drinks were great, but they were out of the drink that I ordered and the server brought a different drink that he thought I would like. I did like it, but it was more expensive. read more
