Came here on a Saturday for brunch/lunch with two friends after a meeting. The restaurant that was there before was a regular stop for me. Seeing how it was transformed into The Greek Bar made my heart smile. I couldn't believe how they had transformed it, especially the outdoor seating area. A little oasis off Oltolf. As soon as we got there we were greeted by one of the owners. Daphne was all smiles and instantly made us feel at home. She was so informative, you can tell she had a passion and was very proud of her restaurant... Rightfully so! We started with some cocktails... My friend had the Gin and Tonic, I had the Old Fashion... Very nice and our other friend had the lemonade. Even though it was an afternoon in July... The outdoor area was very comfortable with the fans blowing on us and the natural breeze coming through. The menu was explained to us and she gave us recommendations. Both of my friends got the Lamb Kefta skewers... What a beautiful plate.. All the vibrant colors. I ordered the Greek Fried Chicken. I wasn't sure what to expect but I was feeling adventurous. The menu description was Greek Style Fried Chicken with Loukoumades ( Greek Style donuts drizzled with honey), slaw and house made pickles. Another stunning presentation. I tried each item first separately and each item were both delightful and unique. The Brine of the Feta Marinade Chicken that was crispy but light and so tender inside with the sweetness of the donuts and topped off with crunchy slaw that had a great dill and fresh taste to it, all came together. Think Chicken and Waffles but Greek Style. From beginning to end, it was an absolute treat. Perfect place for a date, girl's night out, an important occasion to celebrate or just want to treat yourself. The Greek Bar is a great representation of what is South Austin.... We stopped by for lunch and were a little hesitant when we saw the restaurant was completely empty, but we decided to give it a try anyway. The space itself is lovely, with a charming patio full of plants and a beautifully designed bar inside. I ordered one of their breakfast chicken dishes, and while it was enjoyable, it didn't quite stand out to me for the price. The portion was on the smaller side, the dish was a bit oilier than I prefer, and I found myself wishing it had a few more components to round out the plate. At this price point, I personally would have preferred a bowl from Kebabalicious in East Austin, which I find to be a better value. Better late than never! I came here for Easter Sunday and it turned out to be a wonderful dining experience. I'm a sucker for Greek food, but I also know the difference between good Greek cuisine and the mediocre versions you sometimes find. Thankfully, this was firmly in the first category. We started with the Skordalia, a whipped potato dip that I had never tried before. It was as creamy as hummus but as comforting and savory as mashed potatoes and the warm grilled pita took it to the next level. Next came the grilled octopus, which was cooked perfectly. It was incredibly tender with none of the chewiness that can often ruin an octopus dish. The accompanying sauce tied everything together beautifully without overpowering the seafood. For our entrées I ordered the lamb special, while my partner chose the lamb skewer. Both were outstanding and easily some of the best lamb dishes we've had at any restaurant in Austin. The meat was flavorful, tender and expertly prepared. To round out the experience, the service was attentive without ever feeling intrusive and the restaurant itself strikes a great balance between cozy and stylish, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. We finally had the chance to try The Greek Bar, and we absolutely loved it! We were regulars at Tarbouch for years, so we were sad to see it close. When we learned this restaurant would still offer the same style of fresh Mediterranean cuisine, we couldn't wait to give it a try. The décor is subtle, tasteful, and fits the atmosphere perfectly. We sat at the bar, enjoyed chatting with the staff, and were lucky enough to meet the owner, Daphne, during our visit. Everything we ordered was fantastic! Super cute spot that I had been wanting to try for a while! Lovely decor inside for a date night and large patio outside good for group dinners. They even have merch here! Service was helpful and attentive. All of the food and ingredients looked and tasted fresh and were cooked perfectly. I tried the whipped potato dip which was good, mostly just tasted like a thicker mashed potato served cold. The pita was warm and perfect. Loved all of their pickled veggies. I really enjoyed dining at The Greek Bar and was surprised I hadn't discovered it sooner. My boyfriend and I decided to check it out while looking for an early dinner spot on a Saturday evening, and we were pleasantly impressed from the start. The waitstaff were extremely attentive and welcoming--two men and one woman--and made us feel comfortable right away. One of the male servers took the time to walk us through much of the menu, thoughtfully explaining the different dishes, which we really appreciated. We started with a shareable appetizer: the pick-three dips with pita. The portion came with plenty of pita, and we chose the eggplant dip, a split pea-based dip, and a whipped potato dip. While all were good, the whipped potato dip was my favorite--it was unique and especially delicious. For my entrée, I ordered the vegetable skewer. The presentation was beautiful, and the dish was very flavorful. It also came with pickled vegetables, which added a nice balance. My boyfriend ordered a shrimp dish that was more stew-like; he mentioned the tomatoes tasted very fresh and really enjoyed it. Overall, the meal was filling, well-portioned, and reasonably priced. Met a friend for brunch around 11:00 AM on a beautiful Saturday morning. Sun shining and loving the warmish mornings. Small place easy to access, get there early! Or better yet make a reservation from their website. We were able to seat outside half way under the covered patio, I'm giving a 4 because of the pesky flies/bees which I know they have no control over but maybe a few bug zappers wouldn't hurt. Started off with a Mimosa, then added the Melitzana, roasted eggplant like a course dip with fresh pita bites & pickled vegetables, so yummy. I ordered the Avgolemono Soup, extra creamy with egg and delicious. It was really good. My friend ordered the Aegean Omelette, wow that was a plate full of deliciousness. A great neighborhood spot for awesome Greek food! I'll start with service, courses came out with perfect timing. Servers were very friendly and eager to please. Service was a 10/10! For food, we had the "pick 3" spreads and all were outstanding. The split pee spread was a nice surprise and the pita was warm and delicious. Everything yesterday at the Greek Bar went beyond well. The space is adorable with an authentic Greek vibe. Daphne, the owner and Jorge -the Chef, were so sweet, both came over and spoke to us. The food was delectable, we had the calamari, tzatziki and spanakopita which were incredibly well prepared. We had moussaka and the Greek fried chicken. I live really close to Greek Bar and was excited to try it. I want to say: The service was decent, the place is cute and the vibe is really nice. However, the food was just a miss. We ordered the feta dip, Kalamari, chicken skewer & spanakopita. The feta dip is the only thing that didn't come out cold to the touch :(. The kalamari was bad, tasted rubbery and the fried outer layer was soft, the chicken skewer and rice was lacking flavor but also just freezing. We waited 45 minutes for the chicken to come out and there were only 3 other tables in the building, and again when it came out it was freezing. It was all genuinely so bad. We had this restaurant on our radar as we have seen many posts on social media about it. The vibe is pretty good, more casual in real life than how it seems on social media but still excellent. The service is pretty prompt and our waiter was pretty attentive. The drinks are pretty strong. I ordered the mayan muse and was happy with it. Tried a new Greek restaurant in Austin, hoping it would become a great neighborhood go-to since it's so close to home--but unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations. Nice patio, tables inside, and decent size bar. There is parking but when we left at 7 there was no parking and a guy was asking for our spot. They do have happy hour til 6 but skip the alcohol on it, their regular priced drinks were way better. Food overall is decent must like feta because everything has feta on it. We started off with the happy hour trio, happy hour lamb kefta and the salad. Salad was light and had a great vinaigrette on it. The split pea dip was actually my favorite and I ordered the eggplant one. The trio does not give enough pita so a second round was ordered. Lamb kofta was actually really good and I'm not even a lamb eater. My table mate said she could have eaten like 6 of those. Octopus was my favorite of the meal. The mousska gave me shepards pie vibes and the feta brined chicken had a mild taste of feta. You could taste it but it didn't overpower it and it was fried so you really can't go wrong. The sides are definitely not something to skip, the wild greens are so simple with lemon and olive oil but so tasty and makes you feel healthy, our server told us the Lima beans are an underrated side and she was right, they were so good and those crispy potato's were perfect blend of crisp and garlic. For dessert the doughnuts were a surprisingly good with honey and nuts. We all said they were a favorite. I love baklava so also very good just wish they were bigger. This is a very cute little restaurant! Loved the decor, the food was all great, and the staff was quick and attentive. The food came out quickly other than the Greek donuts but they were made fresh so I'd rather wait! My only complaints were pretty minor- we were inside and seated right under the fan which I found pretty cold, and the wooden chairs were pretty uncomfortable. Happily I was distracted by the tasty food! We started with the eggplant dip and grilled octopus- the eggplant was good but by far my favorite was the octopus. It had a sort of chimichurri sauce and was mostly very tender- some of the thinner tentacles were a little chewy but most of it was spot on. For mains we got two of the fried chicken- juicy and the honey was a nice addition; a pork skewer and a chicken skewer- both were tender with some char and nicely seasoned; and a moussaka which while maybe a small looking portion was extremely rich and filling! We also got a side of the lemon potatoes and they were a good portion that we all shared. For dessert we had an order of baclava and an order of the donuts; both were very good but I found the donuts a bit doughy inside. I've never had them before so maybe that is how they are, but the flavor was good and they were super fresh so I wasn't complaining. We had a few cocktails, I enjoyed the Mayan something, it was a lot like a cucumber ranch water with a bit of sweetness. We tried a couple of the ouzo ones but personally I'm just not a huge fan of the flavor. Price- for the 5 of us it was about $350 including a 20% tip, so $70/person isn't cheap but it's not crazy for apps, drink, main, and dessert. The flavors were excellent and felt very fresh, we especially loved the Horiatiki Salata and appreciated the creativity of the Big Fat Greek Fried Chicken. However, the portion sizes, especially for the prices, left us disappointed. As tasty as it was, $15 for two pieces of Spanakopita is outrageous- and a $22 main plate of Moussaka should be larger than a bowl of dip. No Greek yiayia would ever approve of such small portions! Booked a reservation weeks in advance for an outdoor table. Every photo online shows a shaded patio, so that's what I expected. Instead, we were seated in direct sun. No shade, no umbrellas, nothing. When I mentioned it, the host acted like I should have known there's a difference between "outside" and "shaded patio," two options that aren't made clear anywhere during booking. We decided to come in to try their Brunch on a Sunday. I had originally made a reservation for 1230 but we arrived earlier at 11AM we were greeted by Abi at the door and were seated with no issues. We requested seating at the bar. First of all this place is really cute! From the decor to the ambiance it was a perfect Brunch spot. It's not too big inside but has adequate seating and they also have a pretty big covered patio which I'm sure is great on a sunny day. Abi proceeded to go over the menu and gave us suggestions and his personal favorites as well. We decided to try the Aegean Omelette and the Gyro Hash as well as the Loukoumades. For drinks we ordered an Americano with cream and a Black Tea. We also had a Evia Fizz and a Paloma. Everything was Amazing ! Our dishes were both very flavorful and the serving size was perfect. The Greek Bar is a cozy and casual place that serves a wide array of fresh and flavorful Greek dishes. We sat in their beautiful front patio for dinner on a Saturday night. The hostess and server were both very kind a precessional along with the entire staff. We started with the three spread appetizer plate and thoroughly enjoyed all of them. Our favorite was the spicy feta spread. We also had the sizzling Greek cheese finished with herbs and lemon table side. All of the appetizers were eaten with freshly grilled pita. We then moved on to the entrees which for us were the lamb skewer and the whole roasted fish. Both were very fresh and relatively flavorful. I will say I wish the lamb would have been a little less dry but overall both dishes were good. We finished dinner off with the baklava which was a perfect way to end the meal. Oh my goodness is this place fantastic! We had gone before for dinner, which is outstanding. Yesterday was the first time we had gone for brunch, and it was equally amazing. The pikilia (option of three spreads) is available for lunch or dinner, and I highly recommend it. The whipped feta and melitzana (eggplant dip) are so good I could eat it every day. All of the brunch items are unique and delicious. We enjoyed the Athenian Florentine and the fantastic Santorini Yogurt Pancakes, but as we saw other dishes come out we vowed to come back to try it all. The kalamari appetizer is $18 on the regular menu and $14 on happy hour. Very little calamari was given and not worth our price. The Greek sangria was super sweet and barely resembled a sangria. My husband and I were very pleased with the food, vibe, and service! The vibe is closer to a Greek taverna, for those familiar with the traditional dining options in Greece, which we loved. We've been hoping for a place with that vibe in Austin for a while, and this fit the bill! The tirokafteri (dip with feta and peppers), tzatziki, and skordalia (potato and garlic dip) were all very good and the pita bread was also great. All fresh made, balanced in flavor, and the tirokafteri in particular was very close to the way it's made by my husband's extended family in Greece, which we loved. The kolokithokeftedes (zucchini fritters) were also very good--great filling texture and flavor. Though the portion is a bit small, and they're not super traditional in the way they're prepared. But still great! And the dolmades were very good and clearly freshly made. Do recommend! We also ordered the horiatiki, moussaka, and loukoumades, all of which were delicious and hit the traditional flavors we've been craving. We will definitely return and try more things! I hope in the future to see more ouzo options (and maybe tiny ice buckets and tongs to accompany like they do at tavernas), and I'm excited to see what other dishes they rotate into the mix (maybe soutzoukakia, gemista, etc) since everything we tried was so great. Awesome new addition to the Sherwood Oak's/Travis Heights neighborhood. Bright, tastefully designed decor, amazing drinks, and awesome food. We've sorely needed more dinner dining options in this part of town, beyond diners, Tex-mex, and pizza; and while SoCo is just steps away the dining options there tend to be a 'scene'. The Greek Bar is equally vibe-y and tasteful, but is friendly, inviting, and at an accessible price point. In terms of food and drink-- their Greek yogurt cocktail is out of this world. Unfortunately, our experience for the Valentine's Day Dinner was less than ideal, to say the least. Our third course, the chicken and filet mignon, showed up to our table cold. Our waiter routinely checked in to upsell additional rounds of drinks when ours were barely touched. It felt like the staff's priorities were more about pushing certain drinks/dishes than creating a positive experience. Normally, this would all be a moot point if the quality of the meal was even above average, but that was not the case.
