    Beef kebab
    Wendy B.

The food at this place is delicious and well presented, I ordered the beef kebab and the Moroccan curry, the Moroccan curry is very savory and has bold strong flavors...exactly how I like my food. The beef kebab was soft and well seasoned, I like the lemon and citric condiments that came with it and pickled onions. The dessert was also delicious and made me moan a couple of times. Our server was Lucy, she was extremely helpful and polite. It seems as they were short staffed because they took longer than expected to offer me water or a drink. Once the food was out they were more attentive. The ambiance in this place is very intimate and dimmed with lights, you can barely read the menu but it's not a big deal. This place is in the first floor of the Proper hotel and the valet guys do a great job with being paperless and attentive. Will like to come back again.

Austin is a beautiful city, and The Peacock inside the Proper is such a vibe. The service was friendly and helpful. The food was delicious! We parked down the street and walked over. Otherwise the hotel has $60/day valet, which the restaurant can valet, making it $27 for the parking.

You're mostly paying for the ambience here. For the prices, the food was very uncreative. The drinks were cocktail prices but we'll drink quality. We ordered family style: a dip, main protein, grain, side vegetable, and salad. Between three people that was a bit too much.

The Peacock is an absolutely beautiful establishment. I would go just for the ambiance alone. It's a little dark/moody - great for date night or intimate gathering with friends. We got the Red Pepper Chicken Thigh Kebab and the Beef Short Rib Hummus. The chicken was cooked well - seasoned and moist. I appreciated the pickled veggies on the side. I don't see that often, but it was super tasty and complimented the meal. Ironically, the stand out for me was the tzatziki. It was very good. Some of the best I've had in a while! The hummus was just okay in my opinion. Nevertheless, I would still recommend for people to try it. The presentation was beautiful and your taste buds may be different than mine. I went in looking forward to comparing their hummus with Aba's. (Aba takes the crown for me.) However, had I not had Aba's hummus, I know I would have enjoyed this one much more.

The peacock is a nice and quiet place in downtown Austin. It has dimmer lighting creating a more cozy vibe. We came for dinner. The waiter was super nice and gave us a lot of time to look over the menu and decide what to order. The pita was nice and soft in the inside but more solid/crisp on the outside. It pairs really well with the beef hummus. The short rib was rich and tender while the hummus was a nice balance of flavor. I also had the spiced lamb kefta. It was good overall and spiced well but a little dry for my taste.

We went to the Austin Proper Hotel as recommended for drinks. We ordered appetizers like dumplings and octopus. Both are palatable but can be buttery for some people. I did like it though! Service is quick and the staff are nice. The restaurant's interior and set up is lovely. Ambiance is intimate and ideal for date nights. We got ourselves drinks consisting of one cocktail and old fashion (but were not able to take pictures). The drinks are just okay though.

Service was slow at times during our dining experience. Drink: Espresso Martini was delicious! Appetizer: The Manti Dumplings are a must try! It had a little bit of heat to it but not too overpowering. The Lamb Fatayer was also good from what I was told, although I did not try it. Meal: The Wild Grouper was spectacular, especially when paired with the saffron rice. Would highly recommend. Dessert: Do not snooze on the Warm Sticky Toffee Date Pudding. It was mouth watering! I could have eaten two of those on my own.

Well, now I can add this to a favorite brunch spot. I already love this place but their brunch was so good. My friends and I split everything and it was all so good. All the carbs. The banana bread was so subtle. The almond croissants (which were subbed in by the restaurant) were mind blowing. The Ricotta toast wasn't quite toast but so lush and so good. The pancakes were my least favorite but I still enjoyed them. Service is always good and so kind. The restaurant is beautiful, always.

My wife and I had an amazing experience here. The food was fantastic. The service was impeccable. Nice options for drink cocktails. It's a spacious venue with an outdoor patio, indoor seating and a bar area. Great ambiance as well.

Been here a couple times for brunch and it's always a win. The food's great, the service is friendly, and the ambiance is on point--cool decor, relaxed vibe, and just a nice place to hang out for a couple hours. Tried the shallot hummus--it was okay, nothing special. The khachapuri and manti dumplings were both really solid and full of flavor. The chicken kebab was the standout--perfectly grilled and super flavorful. The charred king trumpet mushrooms were also really good. Only dish that missed a bit was the lamb kefta--just a little dry for my taste. Overall, awesome mediterranean spot for brunch. Great food, great drinks, and a space you actually want to spend time in.

I first visited Peacock before I moved to Austin and was blown away the moment I walked in. The decor and design are stunning, and I am such a sucker for good ambiance, so I was instantly sold. It sits inside the Austin Proper Hotel, which is absolutely beautiful and makes the whole experience feel special. After I moved to Austin, I ended up going back a few more times and loved it just as much every visit. And the food. Wow. As someone who grew up eating Mediterranean food my entire life, I can honestly say their flavors are so good with a really unique, elevated twist. Their hummus is amazing, and all of the appetizers are perfect for sharing. I remember loving the grilled octopus and some of their grilled fish and kebab style dishes. Everything we tried was full of flavor. The service has always been great too. Sometimes it does get busy and we wait a little to see the waiter, but we have never had a major issue with service. The staff is attentive, professional, and very knowledgeable about the menu. If you are visiting Austin or just want a really special spot for lunch, brunch, or dinner with friends or family, Peacock is absolutely worth checking out. Plus, the whole space is full of beautiful photo ops since it is inside the gorgeous hotel.

Peacock is probably my favorite restaurant in Austin. I have been living in Austin for about 2.5 years and I'm still surprised people talk more about Aba than they do Peacock. The service is great and they truly cater to you. Portions are worth the price. Their pita is to die for and endless!!! I've been countless times and tried pretty much everything on the menu. Top: Beef tartare Lamb Chops Grouper Sayadieh Wood Fire Grilled Octopus Hawaij Chile Hummus Sunflower Maroulosalata ***Muhammara dip**** Not on the menu but should be brought back!!!

Pro tip: Make a reservation ahead of time. No Happy Hour, despite websites promoting one. Order the Crispy Hummus, or another hummus, to start. Starting off with the good, LOVE the vibe. The decor is beautiful, offering an ambiance that has you feeling like you're away on vacation away from Texas. The staff's uniforms are also very impressive! Dressed in comfortable linen pieces varying from linen tops and pants, kimonos, and dresses. Now... - Took a while for us to receive our drinks, despite it not being busy (before 6 PM). Ice was already melting by the time we got them and, therefore, they tasted watered down. They were $20 a piece, and we chose not to say anything about it as to not be a bother. - The meals were just okay. Not impressed by the $37 grilled meats (literally two skewers with a side of pickled vegetables). - the Gulf snapper crudo and tartare were meh. very small, not so flavorful, and pricey. The menu is very appealing. The vibe fits the Austin downtown sheek.

Rosé Gosé was a delightful Mother's Day lunch spot. It is a whole vibe, and it is uniquely French! When we walked in an artist was playing romantic music on his keyboard, which set the tone for the brunch. It is a small restaurant inside with a larger area of seating on the patio. Of course, our reservations were inside in the comforts of air conditioning. You immediately notice a wine wall hence the name Rosé Gosé. The restaurant has many windows which provide lots of natural light. The tables house miniature yellow roses and utensils sat in a small wooden block...very French. All the servers were dressed in mauve clothing that resemble scrubs from a hospital. If someone stepped out in a French beret, I would have fallen over. Our server, Sergey, immediately served us water and took our order. The restaurant was highlighted as a modern European bistro. The atmosphere was charming, elegant, and stylish making it ideal for a Mother's Day brunch. My hubby ordered a ribeye, eggs and French Fries. I ordered the avocado toast with salmon and egg whites. While I'm not a huge red meat eater, I tasted a piece of the hubs ribeye and it was nicely prepared. My avocado toast was yummy to the nth degree! Everything was perfect. The avocado was precisely cut and at the right level of softness. The salmon was chopped into tiny little squares and so enjoyable to eat. We could not be more pleased. With a name like Rosé Gosé you would expect their drinks to be superb. My hubby ordered a hibiscus tea, which was delightful. I ordered a mimosa that had high quality ingredients and was perfectly balanced...so smooth. We were also pleased with the drinks. This was the first time at Rosé Gosé, however, it definitely will not be the last.

Really love going to rosé goes!…read more I think everybody in town knows their service is not the best and that's not what they're known for but their cocktails are by far my favorite in all of Austin. Their drink number seven, which is basically a Yuzu gin sour is literally my favorite drink and all of Austin and still continues to be that way. Their food is also pretty decent, but I primarily go there for the drinks. Gotta get my wraps done before it actually closes down because I still don't know how to stay around
