I visited Tint World about a week ago to get an aftermarket horn and lights installed, along with window tinting for my car. I went in fully prepared to move forward and expected a quote either that afternoon or at least by the next day. Instead, I heard nothing. I left a voicemail on the company line, then called again the following day and left a message with whoever answered the phone. Two days later, I finally reached the salesperson I originally spoke with. He assured me he would send over a link with the quote and payment instructions. That was three days ago, and I still haven't received anything. My biggest concern is that if communication is this difficult when I'm actively trying to give them my business, what would happen if I had an issue after the work was done? I understand places get busy, but a quick call or text to keep me informed would have gone a long way. Overall, this was just a frustrating and disappointing waste of my time. read more

Extremely disappointing customer service. Arrived this morning for an 8:00am appointment for window tinting that I was told would take 2-hours. There was no one there, and no response to text messages from a number that had previously texted me confirmation of the appointment. At 8:45 an employee finally arrived. He neither apologized, nor had an explanation for why he was late, just that he knew I was the 8:00am appointment and that he would get my car going right away. 20 minutes later my car still sat in parking lot with no start to work. I walked into back area to find the guy eating breakfast, and when I asked why they still hadn't started over an hour after my appointment time, he said his guy was working on something else. I told him that I didn't have time for this ridiculousness and that I was going to take my business elsewhere. He would not give my keys back and assured me that they would get to it and be done within 2 hours, as he hopped into car to pull it into shop. I left and came back almost 2 hours later. Store manager was there and he apologized for inconvenience and promised to make it right with a discount for the work. 45 minutes later a full 3.5 hours from my scheduled appointment that was supposed to take 2 hours, they were finally done. When I went to pay, the discount was a whole $13.50 off of a $300.00 job. The manager insisted that with taxes it was actually a $50.00 discount, even though the gentleman who sold me the job said my total cost all in would be $300.00. At that point I didn't argue with him, as they had already wasted enough of my time and it was pretty clear he thought he was already going above and beyond with no real clue of how poor the customer service was. Needless to say I won't be back and I would never recommend this place to anyone else unless you enjoy poor customer service and no regard for the importance of your time. read more

I have been going back and forth with myself debating on getting my front windshield tinted. I decided I wanted to get it done and ended up going with Tint World since they had pretty good reviews. So I went in today to voice my concerns and two of the workers looked at it and just said there was nothing they can do because how the windshield has plastic under it? It looks like the film isn't properly sitting right or something I'll attach some photos. The rest of the window looks great but seeing this annoys the hell out of me. I looked at a few cars that were at the location I'm guessing employees cars because they were there last time and they had the same thing that my windshield has but their tint looked great in that area? I stopped at 2 different window tint shops on my way home just to see if I can get someone's input on it and they said that it shouldn't look like that? So what to do now. read more

I had an appointment for 3:00PM today, 07/05/24. I pulled up at around 2:52 and walked in. As I walked in, the person at the counter was on the phone and sounded like he was giving a quote as he was talking prices for a half vs full rear window tint for a Tesla Model 3. Not wanting to be in his face, I stepped aside and looked at their displays. Now I should mention that as I walked in, the person behind the counter looked up and saw me walk in. In the mean time, a gentleman walked in after me and stayed behind me. The phone call went on for a few more seconds and by this time, the gentleman's (I'm assuming his wife) walks in and stands in front of the counter while waiting for the call to finish. Right after the guy at the counter hangs up, he turns to the woman and asks how he can help her. From the sound of their short conversation, it looks like they were looking to get a quote to get all the windows of their truck tinted. Guy at the counter then asks if the vehicle is present, woman says yes, and they all turn and walk out to take a look. In the mean time, I was still standing on the side, now facing the counter and all I could do was watch all of them walk out. Not even an acknowledgment from the counter guy or even a blunt, "I'm gonna help them first since this is potentially more money. Just wait your ass in here coz we already got your business anyway." I have never felt so insulted in my life! Especially after I've taken 2 cars to them already for tinting (this appointment was for additional tint on the second car) ! read more

Dear readers, do yourself a favor and avoid this place by all means. If you have more time, go through this and the other negative reviews because they might save your from a nightmare. 8/29/2023 update: For first time someone from this shop reaching out to me since I first reported the issue to them on 7/23, the owner Gregory finally called me today. He threatened me to remove my review or he won't pay to fix my car. He reluctantly apologized but still insisted they didn't damage my car. He wanted me to claim the damage to my own insurance, which is absurd. He also used their previous customer who claims that the shop damaged her transmission as an example, trying to convince me that customers are ridiculous and story makers. He then criticized that I shouldn't bash them in my review, which I did not. I only write facts. I was being polite through out the conversion but apparently he's very upset about my honest review, so he ended our conversion with cursing: "have a fxck day". I tried to response with "you too" but he hung up so quick that I missed the chance. Accidents do happen, but what's more important is how you own up your mistake and remedy the aftermath. Run and hide at the first place and slander your customers after they post reviews is by no means an appropriate practice to run a business. That's more like how an uneducated teenager would react. I'm now so convinced that the other negative reviews are authentic because I'm experiencing the exact same thing from this shop. My review truthfully described my unpleasant experience and the terrible attitude from this shop, so I stand behind it and will never remove it. Tint World applied PPF with a 10-year warranty on my 2023 Tesla Model S Plaid. This is the first car I have owned I had this protection added to. It looks great and I believe it will be well worth the investment versus not having the paint protection and paying a body shop $1000 or $1500 caused by rock chips or other debris. I would not recommend this place for anything . This place was pitched to me by the owner as the number 1 this and number 1 that and honestly they are no where close. ** After reading this see my other post where I address the owners ridiculous Reply below I didn't get my window tint done here so I cant speak to that but I did have all my chrome blacked out (chrome delete), my headlights and taillights tinted, black PPF done on my door handles and I had a $700 dash cam installed. I ended up sending $1675 after the 75$ discount they gave. The tint on headlights is about the only thing that was done right. The handles and chrome trim were supposed to be gloss black to match the rest of my car.. they aren't. They are more shiny then a flat black but no where near the gloss finish on the rest of the car and the quality of the PPF is sub par. The installers are good but the materials and overall service was a huge let down. Coming here was a complete waste of my day and money. I have been to, and seen the work at the best shops in San Diego like Auto Armour, Elite Finish, SD Auto spa, House of Wraps ... this place is no where close. They really should just stick to tint, Regarding the 700$ camera they installed.. where to begin.. it was pitched to me as the best camera for monitoring your vehicle without having to be in the vehicle and that all the videos are accessible through the cloud while also not having to be in the vehicle. I was also told that I needed to buy a data card for it which I did and that it would be all hooked up for me.. I left and the camera doesn't even stay on after the car is turned off so there is no way to access it. It does not save videos to the cloud so I cant access those either. And when I turned it on while driving home it wasnt even pointed at the road.. All i saw was the top of cars and a lot of sky. I had to pull over and fix it myself. I called the shop several times to explain my disappointment and was told I would definitely be called back to get it hooked up right. I was never called back. I was going to do a full expel stealth PPF with this company or a Damascus PPF and I'm so glad I didn't do it all at once. It cost me 1700 to find out I never want to do business with this company again. If you want a wrap, PPF or anything like that I would highly recommend you spend the extra money and go with one of the shops I mentioned above. I will be going to one of these shops to have them remove this PPF and do the job correctly with the correct materials. Im sure tint world will reply that I pressed them and didn't give them enough time..but the owner himself told me thats how long they needed when we discussed what I wanted done. Before I came I told the owner that I have health issues that makes it hard for me to stay out for a long time. He told me he would get as many techs on it as needed and said 3-4 hours would be fine. I dropped the car off at 9 and didn't leave there until after 2:40..and it still wasn't done right. I'm giving them 1 star, rather then 0, because they seem like nice people and the installers do seem to care about doing the job right. But like I told them, customer service is everything. People buy "people" not products and when you spend a couple grand at any establishment there is a level of service and follow up that should be provided. I would highly recommend you go to one of the Premium shops Like Elite Detail or Auto Armour. You will spend a little more but the work will be so much better. Just take a tour of the shops at all 3 places and you will immediately see the difference between Tint World and the premium shops. This place sees the odd Tesla.. but mainly lower end vehicles and shops like Auto Armor and Elite are working on $500,000 cars... There is a reason for this. read more

6 month review: I decided to try tint world,I generally would not spend much on tint. We went with the ceramic tint on 5 windows 2 front 2 rear and 1 rear. I decided to see if there really is a difference in paying a little over $500 for tint and $50 which is what I paid in my previous tint in TJ. First we followed all instructions we did not roll our windows down for the allotted time, which was a pain because my wife goes on base everyday. And we didn't wash the car for like 3 months just to be safe. I did a walk around and there is tiny air pockets in the tint on almost every window. Definitely would not pay that price or get again. Yes my $50 tint turned purple after 3 years, but it did not have tiny air pockets and with that one we weren't as careful as this tint. If anything, instead of going to Tj or getting this i would say maybe the offer up or craigslist guys are worth the risk. read more

I went to Tint World to have a stereo installed in my vehicle. Positive notes: 1. The audio tech took the time to explain how stereos work and give recommendations on 2 occasions. 2. He said they repaired a speaker that was not working due to a loose connection at no charge. Not so positive: 1. The clean up after the install was lacking. I found a lot of plastic insulation bits from wires on the floor and under my floor mat. They also left a roll of tape. 2. The new stereo hisses when the car is on. Especially when I accelerate. I am disappointed that I was not called to see if wanted it repaired or to accept the car in that manner. 3. Customer service started out well but it was lacking in the end. For example: When I inquired if discounts on their message board would apply to the stereo they recommended, or about the model number of the stereo via text I never received a reply. I left a more detailed review of my original experience with Tint World, so I'll only give a brief summary in order to give context to my most recent experience. Tint World installed XPEL window tint on my car that had damage/defect to the tint. Instead of replacing the tint right away, they left it on, told me to wait a couple weeks for the bubbles and distortion to go away. When I realized the defect was permanent, I contacted them and they told me they would replace the tint but they would likely cause damage to my defrost contacts and I would have to pay for the damage they caused. So I left a review with the details of that experience. I thought that was the end of it. The owner Greg Alan responded to my review and told me to call him to rectify the matter. After we spoke, he told me to bring my car down and he would work on it personally to make sure the tint was properly replaced. I drove 45 minutes to his location only for him to tell me that the defrost contacts could possibly be damaged. He told me to get a quote from a dealership for the cost of the rear window and installation labor. He said he would discuss the matter with his insurance company to see if they would cover it. If the insurance would not cover it, he would replace the rear window himself after "budgeting for that cost over a couple of months". As requested, I sent him copies of the repair estimate from my local dealership. He told me he would submit this to his insurance company. After a few weeks of texting back and forth, he told me his insurance company would not cover any potential damage to the rear window even though the installer never should have left that tint on the glass. He also said XPEL would not assist even though the defect was in their tint film. Lastly, he said he would no longer pay for the possible damage without his insurance covering him. Unfortunately, this was not a surprise. I didn't think he would come through and take care of me as a customer as he said he would. I'm more upset that he wasted my time, made me drive 45 minutes in each direction and dragged me along for a month after he told me he would make it right even if insurance didn't cover the possible damage. I wouldn't use Tint World. If what he said was true, I wouldn't even use XPEL since they won't cover defective window tint. read more

Over 3 months waiting for the job to get done. They have the worst communication skills. Service writer barely texted me back after many times trying to reach him. I finally had to call the owner. He was full of excuses. Window tint. $317. Lots of hair and air bubbles. They did replace and fix their mistake. Black out lights. $400 front and back total 4 lights. Made front lights so dark the headlights didn't light the road. They said it would be fine and my new headlights would shine right through. I had to take it off while I was out of state. I asked prior if it would impede the vision. They said everyone does it and it would be fine. Wrong. Truck Bed cover and bed liner. Over $1,200 (cancelled and asked for a refund.) Owner said "it wasn't fair". Got the liner after months of calling. They said the bed of the truck was a manufacture defect by being the wrong size. It's a 2021 truck and the manufacturer said "if it was wrong every single one would have been wrong and they are not. It was not a defect and tint world was the defect." Waited many weeks to get answers on this one. Fog lights $450 Light was broke when he told me it was done. He tried to pass off a broken product If I hadn't seen it right there I would have been screwed. 2nd light is Burnt out after a month. What kind of crappy products do they sell? I tried calling the owner directly and he never replied. Running boards Original bid was for $400 for 4 hours labor Did it in 2hrs and they tried to charge for 4 hours. I didn't let them. Btw Angel at the front desk was very professional. One time when I did speak to the service writer Alan he said this. And I quote ... "The amount of my original spend of over $3,700 was not worth his time". I went to the wrong business for my upgrades. Tint World San Marcos are crooks and will rob you. Alan (service writer) is very condescending and hangs up on you when he is unable to continue a professional conversation. He basically runs out of bull crap lies and stories to tell trying to appease the uninformed customers. This is not a place to take your vehicles if you want a professional job. Had my Tesla tinted here today 2/10/23 Service wise, Hunter was very knowledgeable and extremely cool. He even let me see his CTS-V so I could note the difference between 5% & 15%. Hunter made the experience a lot better. They did a pretty good job on my Tesla Model 3. Price was reasonable $500 For 6 windows & windshield. There were a few bubbles and marks on the windshield tint but hunter let me know that it should fade away within 4 days and that it's covered under warranty if it doesn't! They will take care of it. Its only the first day but its a noticeable difference in heat rejection! I saw a couple other small imperfections in the Tint job. read more

Edit: owner is blaming my car being a 2016 for the scratches on their tint. Great example how they refuse to own up to their mistakes and blame the customer on the poor quality of their work. If you care about your car please do yourself a favor and take it somewhere else. I had a ceramic window tint installed not once, not twice but three times at this location and every installation had either scratches, debris stuck under the tint or both. After my third failed installation their staff got defensive and started arguing stating that "contamination is guaranteed with every installation, it's impossible to do a perfectly clean install". The sales manager also had a great quote when he basically refused to solve the issue and said "IT'S A TINT, IT'S NOT MEANT TO LOOK PRETTY." I had to ask him to repeat because I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Those were his exact words. It's not meant to look pretty. Every visit I emphasized that I didn't mind waiting, I just wanted the job done right. After three visits and a total of 8 hours of my time wasted I'm out $413 and left with a scratched sub-par tint while the staff refuses to help. The staff at this location is clearly inexperienced and has zero quality control. Three installs with a 100% failure rate speaks for itself. If you wait at their shop you'll overhear things like "omg I was so scared of scratching that customer's Porsche" (also exact words from one of their staff members) so it's obvious these guys lack confidence, experience and skill. read more

I have a 2019 Tesla Model X and a 2021 Tesla Model Y and wanted to get both cars tinted. I sent out messages to multiple tint specialists on Yelp. I was impressed by Hunter and Angel with their quick and informative responses at Tint World. This process was expensive and I learned that many smaller independent installers did NOT offer tinting on a Model X, and those that did charged twice as much as Tint World. Again, I was impressed with their pricing and services offered. (So impressed that I ended up opting for a Paint Protection Film Package on both cars as well) The Tinting/PPF process itself was very easy. I have 2 small children and they were able to get me an 8am appt. The more difficult Model X was finished by 1pm. The Model Y would have been ready for pickup that same evening if I had chosen so. I wasn't able to make it back at the designated time, so they offered to hold my car overnight in their shop...Extremely appreciative!!!! Angel was also the only person to hold a conversation when asking for quotes, was extremely friendly, helpful, transparent and timely with his reply's.
