The Hearth Shop sent someone out to cap off the gas line. He was very helpful and gave us tips on some things to have the chimney sweep do to make sure the fireplace would be safe for food. The previous owners had actually used The Hearth Shop to do the conversion from wood-burning to gas and fit the opening with a metal door. That was close to 20 years ago and everything had held up really well. We had no complaints, just a personal preference for wood-burning. We're actually going to convert the living room fireplace back to wood, too, and won't hesitate to call The Hearth Shop.

The installed the wrong mantel, which was damaged from the manufacturer (told me who cares), they damaged our $4500 bookcases/cabinets, installed a piece of arched molding that was damaged by the manufacturer, failed to finish to crown molding and kept the key to our house and refused to return it. There is a whole lot more that I could go in to. In total, I had to pay $2,000 for repairs for the damages they caused and they would not work out a settlement with us so they put a lien on our house. We paid the amount owed because we could not take another loan out on our home unless we paid the lien off. They have yet to remove the lien and we paid them in full over 2 months ago. This company is unethical, does subpar work and charges top dollar for subpar work. The job took them 3 months to complete. I highly encourage you to not hire this company that does not care about their work or their customers. I paid $13,000 for a fireplace redo and my bookcases have issues because to make them look halfway decent, they had to be repainted. So in total, this job cost me almost $18,000. Neither big box retailer could tell me much about their tubs except for price and obvious things such as 1yr warranty but they didn't know how that worked or the fine print details, or anything about their service after install etc. Notable was that they did disclose that they "neatly leave the packaging / trash for the consumer to discard"- What?! Then remembered The Place in Medina, Ohio. So glad I went this route. Rex Brown was very knowledgeable, he answered All of my questions and concerns (that no one else could and other info. that I couldn't get online). The Place has a large inventory of Hot tubs. Like most stores, big box or small retailers they have a limited amount of Plug n Play units but more than most that I went to, and they carry the BEST plug n play model on the market: The Dream Maker and at an affordable price too. The difference with The Place and Big box stores, is that The Place knows their products and stand behind them! It is a family-owned company-(buy local). They have a repair shop on sight, their own repair guys/employees (unlike big box- once you get it home - after warranty-it's on you to get it fixed). The Place also carries any accessories, like filters and chemicals that you may need for your hot tub. The transaction was GREAT from start to finish, (no gimmicks, no delays, no bait and switch). The delivery and set up was quick and very professional; they left no trace of packaging material aside from my beautiful hot tub you would never know they were there! I couldn't be happier- I highly recommend Rex Brown and The Place in Medina Oh.

The last time, over winter, TWO birds got stuck in it. I was able to fly a drone up and look at the cap-one of our sides was completely exposed. I gave a few chimney companies a call and MS Chimney was the first to get back to me and they also gave me the best price. Once I scheduled the inspection, communication was excellent. Zach let me know when he was on the way and his thorough inspection lasted a good 30 minutes. In addition to needing a better cap on our chimney, the firebox needed to be cleaned and re-pointed. The total cost was $500 less than what my buddy had paid for the same job from another company several years ago. The MS Chimney works with a custom fabricator who builds each cap to the specs of the chimney. After Zach finished that day, I flew my drone up and was very happy with the final results, an incredible difference from the sloppy job that had been done previously! He went into my basement and took one picture with his cell phone and told me I needed a new liner and that I had some broken bricks inside my chimney and how big of a job it would be. MS Chimney gave me an estimate of $6,000 to repair my chimney and put a new liner in with the cap. I called Chimney Crickets for 2nd opinion. When Aaron arrived from Chimney Crickets, he had a drone and a snaking camera. Aaron told me I already had a liner, but I needed a cleaning and a new chimney door that had rusted off. My cost was $450 instead of the $6,000 that MS Chimney quoted me. I was never shown any pictures from MS Chimney...but Chimney Crickets showed me every picture they took. MS Chimney kept insisting that their pricing was high because they did the best work. They do the best work yet somehow the man they send out to look at your chimney has no truck and no tools and just a cell phone. Please be careful if you are hiring this company...they over charge and they are dishonest.
