This is my favorite kind of Yelp experience. I had no expectations coming here, knew nothing about the place and left blown away. Let's start with the facility. Located in an 120 year-old barn in cottage Grove, Oregon at the southern end of the Willamette Valley. This is a beautiful spot. There's a large gravel parking lot with tables and chairs outside for the perfect tasting experience during the summer and fall months. Inside there are a number of large tables and seating at the bar if you're not into meeting new people at your table. During my visit, the young lady, waiting on us was outstanding both in terms of her customer service and her knowledge about Saginaw wines, and wines in general. She made great recommendations to everyone who came into the tasting room. There are food options here with both a small and large cheeseboard, and some 10 inch pizzas. Both of these go very well as an accompaniment to the wine. I particularly liked the Malbec with the cheeseboard. There is also a Muller Thurgau white that is really good. A great German food wine, unusual to find in the US! I was there on a Saturday afternoon and the place was really buzzing by 4-5 pm as it filled up with locals. Very impressive wines that have won awards in Oregon. Their Pinot Niur is not the fruit bomb you find in California, but a very pleasant, light drinking wine with a bit of a spicy backbone, reminiscent of a Syrah. Stayed via Harvest Host. Wasn't anticipating much. Previous Harvest Host Vineyard stay at another place while nice was fairly spartan. This place was a lovely farm setting ( plus). We arrived late ( tip google leads you wrong search for Saginaw Vinyard, and not the address on their site ).vali and Jack were great, the wines we tried were winners. One taste of the Barn Red and bought a bottle to go with dinner. The night was peaceful and restful. We're already planning a return trip next year. read more

Enjoyed a very layed back evening at Saginaw Vinyard. Every Friday during the summer they have a live band, and sell wine and BBQ dinner. There is no cover charge. They allow you to bring your own food if you so choose. Alot of people bring their own lawn chairs, which is a necessity since seating is limited. Stopped by on our way back to Eugene with our son who lives there. He had wanting to stop by here. You drive down a road with the grapes on one side and goats and sheep on the other. Quite the welcoming crew. The tasting room is an old barn. Really a neat set up. We ended getting a couple of glasses of their Pinot Noir and a rose. I quite enjoyed the Pinot. My son enjoyed the rose. They had a cat named Virgil who was as sweet as can be. He followed my wife to the sofa and proceeded to sit on her the whole time. Beautiful setting and the wine was good. read more

We visited Saginaw Vineyard on June 5, 2024, and not knowing what to expect,  we were amazed at this beautiful Vineyard. Inside and out,  this is such a warm, relaxing, and welcoming destination. The grounds feature a pasture full of beautiful goats, prancing horses and calves.  There are several outdoor seating areas set up to enjoy their exceptional Moody Blue Blueberry Port and their white Muller Thurgau.  The inside clubhouse is warm, comfortable, and just perfect for relaxing and playing "Wine-o" (fun Bingo), so along with the whole outside setting,  it all added up to a completely idyllic experience. ( We actually were able to play Wine-o outside,  since it was so nice). This is truly a wonderful, surprising place. Our host, Kelli, was such a friendly,  knowledgeable and personable representative. Overall,  a Vineyard location that must be visited more than once. read more

What a beautiful property and tasting room! We stayed the night in our van as this property is in the Harvest Host program and it was a wonderful stay. We shared a cheese board and some wine in the tasting room (the bar area of the tasting room is 120 years old). The girl who helped was amazing and there's cats and dogs to pet and horses, goats, ducks and chickens on the property too. read more

I was crushed that I couldn't make it back here for a 2nd visit. I was going to surprise the family with a visit here on the last night of our vacation, but alas, my son was feeling like garbage. So I'm writing this review from back at the Airbnb, drinking the inferior wine we bought at the grocery store and NOT being present at this awesome venue and NOT enjoying a cheese board. The kids would have loved this place. Super friendly cat (Virgil), awesome chill huge dog (hate that I'm forgetting his name), horses, goats, tons of room outside to run... This place is family friendly fo sho. I originally stopped by here after wearing the family out. Everyone else needed downtime while I, Mr FOMO must-pack-every-second-of-vacation-with-experiences, sought this place out alone. (After vetting it on Yelp and making sure they had bold red wine, of course.) Kelly (Keli? Kelli? Kellie? I hate misspelling names) was the first stellar staff member I met, and she nailed my flight. Good selection, correct order, and super friendly and professional. She rocked. Then I got to meet Ben, the mad scientist behind the wine - awesome to meet him and get to see the rest of the vines behind the tasting room and "forward-facing" vines. I may have asked him lots of dumb questions. Then I got to meet owner Ali (Alli?), who was super personable and down to earth for owning such an incredible spot. The barn tasting room is 120-years old, but the original owners sold not that long ago (about a year or two?). The vines are from the 90's - plenty mature. After my flight, I enjoyed a glass of the Barbera Reserve, which was easily my favorite of the flight and was a great glass to savor. I would have had another if I didn't need to pick up the kids and head over to my aunt and uncle's. Really solid wine. So! After not getting to end our vacation revisiting this high note of a stop, I was, truly, honestly, crushed. Awful experience at the vineyard today. Saw a starving 5 day old orphan baby lamb being mounted by a much older sheep. This baby was so skinny and literally crying out for help/food! Our concern was met with excuses and a plain lack of concern for the well-being of their animals. After persistence and a bottle was given to the starving baby lamb. Baby lamb was then smashed into the ground by the older male in a mounting attempt. 5 days old is too soon to be abused and possibly killed due to negligence of the owners. ​ read more

How have I not reviewed Saginaw before!? This is hands down one of my favorite places to take my family. It is the most family friendly and least pretentious winery you will ever find. The owners are onsite most of the time and they are incredible people. The tasting room is an over 100 year old barn, the outside seating is super fun with farm animals roaming. I was there yesterday and they had many baby sheep roaming around. They hold events regularly, like live music and markets. You can tell they very much love and care for the local community. Along with their red and white wines, they do sell a blueberry port which is super good and unique and a raspberry wine that is super clean, a little tart and a nice treat on a sunny day. read more

The setting is adorable, the cows grazing that you can pet, the dogs and cats - all so fun and unique. Unfortunately their wine just isn't great and the service was... rude. The woman with dark hair was not friendly, polite, nor did she appear to care at all about her crummy attitude. She also charged us full price for our (not good) bottles of wine when we were the during happy hour prices. read more

I was there last weekend with a friend that has wanted to take me there for years. Well it will be my first and last time. The hostess was so very rude, wouldn't describe the wines, made me feel as though tasting was an in convenience and to be truthful, the wine was not great. My friend was mortified after talking them up for years. The cat greeted us and was the best part of the visit. I stopped by Saginaw Vineyards last Friday and it was by far the worst experience I have had at a winery. The hostess was rude and made us feel unwelcome. We were not greeted with a smile when we walked in because she had her face buried in her tablet. We finally asked if we could taste some wine and she replied back "if you would like". She provided no recommendations and in no way tried to sell us on Saginaw Vineyards. My friend asked for a recommendation, and she replied, "I don't know you, so I don't know what you like". This winery is absolutely adorable. It is small and cozy and the service is friendly and inviting. Trivia on Tuesday's was casual and fun to enjoy while sipping on wine. Unfortunately, the quality of wine was disappointing in comparison to many of the wineries in the Eugene area. Was really disappointed. Actually beyond disappointed with my experience. It was my first trip here and felt totally unwanted and unwelcome. There was an event being set up and waited in the tasting room for over 5 minutes before anyone walked in. When they did come in I said I'm here for a wine tasting the response was, what can I get you. No smile no explantation nothing. I picked a wine on the list and then she said anything else. I was totally confused. She didn't take the time to explain the tasting menu so again I said well I was here for a tasting how does that work. She said we charge by the glass or bottle or a flight of you want to pick 4. I didn't want to stay longer so said thanks and left. Horrible service. Would not recommend this. If you're passing through the area and looking to try some wines don't stop here. read more

We've been up here every year since the last four years. It's a favorite stop of ours. The lady who helped us was so sweet, energetic, and loving. We love the u pick blueberries and can't wait to do it again. It's our daughter's favorite activity up here. Seems they have a lot more activities now like summer music. Fun. I'm so happy my mom and I found this Winery on our way back from a trip. This Winery is secluded, hidden back. We were immediately greeted, and offered a wine tasting. The wine tasting was free, and we were offered various reds, a blush, and a reisling. All of the wines had an amazing, clean taste. I'm not usually a red wine drinker, but I liked there's. I especially loved the blush, having to buy myself a bottle! The atmosphere was so relaxing, and cutely decorated. There is little gifts to buy, and even food options. They do have gluten free options too! I hope to come back to this spot! It is a gem and the staff/atmosphere is so welcoming! read more

It should be stated that I'm not a practiced wine-drinker and can't comment on the wines with any expertise, so this review is more about the vibe, general experience, and the food. This is a cute mom and pop style place, with complimentary wine tasting in a barn, outdoor seating, and u-pick berries in warmer seasons. The menu is not upscale or gourmet, but they clearly put a lot of care into the food. I thought the cornbread was especially delicious--nice comfort food with the tomato soup. I liked many of the wines I tried, and I appreciated that they were all extremely different from each other, which made tasting fun. The only moment that burst the bubble for me was when we were given Hershey's kisses because one of the wines "pairs well with chocolate." I wonder if it would break the bank for them to distribute higher quality chocolate, even in minuscule pieces. I don't think Hershey's pairs well with anything except Halloween. (The wine it was supposed to go with, though, was quite good!) read more

Saginaw Vineyard - We walked out with the 2017 pinot noir, 2019 blackberry and the firestone. - Wineries Near Me - Cottage Grove, Oregon

This is a sweet, family owned vineyard that definitely has a mom and pop feel to it. They offer free tastings (up to 5 per person) and their bottles as well as single glasses of wine are very reasonably priced. They have a handful of dryer whites and reds and also feature sweeter fruit-based wines (which remind me a lot of wineries and cideries in the Midwest--they are fun to try if you haven't, even if you're not a big fan of sweeter wines). We typically enjoy their Pinot noir, and they have a unique varietal called Marechal Foch which is worth trying. I also recommend the raspberry wine--they take Riesling and add fresh raspberries to the base. Overall, this is a fun, small and inviting winery to try out. read more

Love love love this wonderful family vineyard in a lovely country setting. I'm a wine club member and have my favorites. The berry ports are OFF THE HOOK-- and I can never get enough of the blackberry wine. It is ALWAYS in my wine room. You shouldn't go through life without a glass of their blueberry port, either! Soooo.... Raspberry wine... blueberry... blackberry... died and gone to heaven! Today I picked up my wine club order and they have a new Pepper Jelly dessert wine made w the Muller Thurgeau (?) base and fortified with jalapeños and Carolina Reapers. It's sweet and SPICY! I bought 10 bottles. LOL Can't wait to try it in a hand-crafted top-shelf Cadillac Margarita. Fresh LIME, great tequila, Grand Marnier, Pepper Jelly wine! Mmm yessss! read more

If you don't have fun here, you need therapy. My wife and I are visiting from Nashville so we know how to have fun. The 12 flight wine tasting is FREE. Did you hear me.....it's FREE! This craft winery is spot on in hospitality. It's in a rustic barn built in 1912. The wine is solid, we actually enjoyed all 12 that we tried. We also had a bowl of bean and chicken soup from the kitchen. I am a southern boy who grew up on beans......we both agreed it was one of the best bean soups we have had. It is priced at $13 a bowl and being the frugal man that I am, I raised my eyebrows at first....after eating it, it is worth every penny and more. Don't let the price deter you. The chef is the owner's granddaughter and she has a bright future ahead of her. The rest of the menu looks great as well. Jacob was our host, he is a young man who recently moved from CA. He knows a thing or two about wine. He is wise beyond his years. His description of each wine as spot on, authentic, and fun for a non wine expert like me but technical enough for a wine expert like my wife. He effortlessly took care of the standing bar area, the table seating area, and ran back and forth from the kitchen like a New York waiter during rush hour and didn't miss a beat. He was able to fully engage with each guest and make you feel special. The guy is a superstar. We will definitely be back. Fantastic stop on the way to Eugene! The raspberry and blackberry wines are absolutely delicious!! We live in the Bay and frequently visit Napa valley wineries. This place is fantastic!! I came here on a Friday night with my family for their live music and we had such a great time. We loved it. It's a charming winery with plenty of space and great wines. We had about 20 people in our party and everyone enjoyed a different wine. The tasting is free, which is great, so we could all figure out what we liked most and then we just bought bottles for the evening. The bottles are well priced and the ambiance there is wonderful. We enjoyed the live music and the "Wine-O" (like bingo) game during the breaks for the band. During the summertime, they'll play outside and the space is beautiful. They have string lighting out in the grass and it would make a beautiful setting for an event or party. There's plenty of parking and it was very easy to find. Everyone there was super friendly and helpful. They knew a lot about the wines and offered suggestions. My favorite wine of the night was the Pinot Noir from Red Hills. It was elegant and approachable. We ended up buying an extra bottle to take home with us. I definitely recommend this place, especially on a Friday night. We can't wait to come back! read more

The location is beautiful but a bit noisy with the I-5 running close by. The service is excellent. It was a sunny but cold(er) afternoon and the place was busy. However, the gentleman pouring the wines never lost his cool and was friendly and un-pretentious. Where can you still get a free wine tasting for several different wines? This is the place. I did not care for any of the 2 whites I tried (Chardonnay or Pinot Gris). The reds were interesting but not rich enough in taste for me. The raved-about blackberry wine was over-the-top sweet and could easily function as a syrup poured over ice cream or in a cocktail... (I know, sacrilege to say, but it tasted like a "kids-wine" to me). The Pinot noir rosé 2018 was sweet with a tarter finish, great for sipping in the sun with some tart apples and smoked salmon to pair it with. And I saw it was awarded some prices this year, understandably so. I understand that everyone has their own favorites/taste in wine and I would suggest just to stop by and give this place a try. The Blackberry wine is such sweet wine. Love it! This winery has a darling gift shop too with honey, jewelry, wine gifts, and artwork. Absolutely love the charm. Try the Sweet and spicy japenaro pepper jelly wine for a kick and s punch to knock down a cold. So much fun and unique berry wines at decent true prices. Definitely a great spot for tastings. We live in a wonderful part of the world. The secret is out. Sorry I just gave up that information to those not living in this part of the country. They were eventually going to find out. It seems like all of our trips revolve around some form of vineyarding. I'm thinking we might be winos. Oh well. There are worse things to be. Not even quite sure how we found out about Saginaw. We were down in Cottage Grove for the long holiday weekend and somehow we found out there was a vineyard nearby. No reason not to go so on a Sunday afternoon after a tour of covered bridges (Cottage Grove is the covered bridge capital of Oregon) we headed over as we knew there would be wine and we knew there would be live music. If you can get here on a beautiful day, you owe it to yourself to come to Saginaw. It was the perfect way to spend a few afternoon hours. First off there is nothing pretentious about wine tasting around here. Wine tastings are free and you will end up tasting about 10-12 wines. Pretty crazy. Everything from Pinot Gris to Marechal Foch. Late Harvest Riesling to Blackberry Wine. We did the wine tasting and had a nice conversation with the woman pouring. We were the only ones there at the time of our tasting and really got that one to one treatment. If you come on a Sunday afternoon this time of year there will be live music (1-4pm) and lasagna. We had a big hunk of it for $7 along with a glass each of wine. The music was good, the weather was perfect and the scenery was beautiful. With Sue by my side I couldn't think of anywhere else in the world I would rather have been. Chalk up another good vineyard in Oregon. We are full of them. read more

Until I saw these guys sign on the road I didn't even know Oregon had its own Saginaw, I was always familiar with Saginaw, MI. Traffic on the highway was starting to suck so when I saw their sign I figured it was a good place to try some local product and let the idiots drive ahead of me. It's a nice little homey place and the girl working behind the counter was pleasant and helpful. This area of the world does grow beaucoup grapes and this winery was very close to the highway which made it an ideal stop. Had a small flight of their wines and while I was tasting, one of their vinters came out with a wine he was working on and I was able to sample that as well. Their fruit wines were especially good and I walked out with blueberry wine and a bottle of a jalapeno wine that was very good. If you see the signs you should def stop in. They have entertainment on the weekends and quite frankly that part of the state has some beautiful scenery. At different times of the year you can also pick fruit at this family owned business. Make the stop and you won't regret it. read more

This is a great little vineyard with unique offerings as well as the usual ones. The berry wines were amazing and very different. The best part about this place was the location and the staff. Down to earth, friendly, and free tastings, which is rare these days. We ended up each having a glass and enjoying the space. I only wish we lived close enough to visit on a Friday night for their live music night. read more

This is a friendly, warm, welcoming vineyard. I LOVE the barn and the rustic feel of the tasting room. Tried multiple wines, all of which were delicious. I'm not a white wine fan, but their wines were actually palatable for me. They have a couple of blackberry wines that are super delicious. I ended up purchasing the Marechal Foch. Fantastic! The hostess was down home, friendly, chatty, etc. Beautiful vineyard that this family has worked so hard on. I recommend Saginaw Vineyard. read more

The girl Mel working was so friendly! You get a free complimentary wine tasting up to 5 wines which is a great deal! We tried a variety of them! It was cool to see they use their blueberry farm to make some of their wines. They had a spicy pepper wine which was unique and fun to try. The tasting room is in an old barn and is such a cool atmosphere. We got a bbq pizza as well which was delicious!! It fed 4 of us. We will definitely be back!! read more
