    Maine Lobster Roll
    Emma H.

Very busy on a June Saturday, but they have a buzzer waitlist system. Line moved fast. Service was quick but not friendly. Lobster bisque was decent, but the Maine Lobster roll was full of shell slivers and did not taste good at all. Very disappointing.

I would definitely recommend this place! We had the calamari, chowder and lobster roll. Everything was delicious! The lobster roll had a healthy amount of lobster. The calamari was not over breaded. The clam chowder was so good! It had plenty of clams and didn't taste milky or too buttery. Our waitress was very friendly and great at describing the menu. She even welcomed us to Milwaukee when she found out we were from out of town. The view of the lake was spectacular! We had lunch but I think I would love to go in the evening. They have fire pits you can sit by. I would definitely go back!

I had a meal here many years ago while in town and enjoyed it. Recently I had the opportunity to return. St. Paul Fish Market is located inside the very busy and popular Milwaukee Public Market indoor shopping complex downtown. It reminds me of the Pike Place Fish Market in Seattle. The only parking option that I am aware of is metered street parking. The building has 2 levels but the 1st floor is where most of the business are. It appeared to me that St. Paul's is the most popular business there. It is a seafood restaurant and fresh fish market. They have a small sit down area for table service dining or you can order your food to go at the counter. After being seated and reviewing the menu I decided to order the same meal I had over 11 years ago. I went with a bowl of clam chowder for $8 to start and then added a fried grouper sandwich ($16) with french fries for another $2.50. The chowder was perfect. Flavorful, delicious and I wanted more (5). The sandwich also was delicious and satisfying made with quality fish, lettuce, tomato, and bread. However while it tasted very good halfway through eating it the bread bun started to disintegrate and then quickly turned to mush before I could finish. Then I needed a fork to finish it. It got messy and I don't like that in a sandwich. It's only for that reason I give an overall 4 score instead of a 5. The french fries were very good tasting too but I had ordered too much food and only had room for a few of them. The table service was very warm and friendly. I believe St. Paul's is a very good choice for a casual seafood meal but please buy more sturdy buns!

Really well priced seafood options in Milwaukee. My husband and I came here before a show at the Riverside and we knew we would have to come back to try their other items. I got the walleye fish fry with chips and my husband got the fried catfish po boy. Both were delicious and the fish was super flavorful and not bland at all. It came with two things of tartar sauce which I loved, because you could put a decent amount of sauce on each piece of fish. I'll definitely have to be back to try their lobster roll, lobster bisque, and other po boys. Great spot! There's a huge parking lot for the Milwaukee public market as well. For a Saturday night, the dine in was pretty full and the to-go option took about 10 minutes. They close at 8 pm so definitely come by for an earlier dinner!

I love St Paul Fish Co and their accompanying tiki bar. This place is always busy and I think that has to do with the service and food of this place - it's great!! I personally love their salmon sandwiches, crab cake sandwich, and Friday fish fry. The salmon crack is also a must try! If going to the tiki bar you can order food and drink right at the bar. The bartenders are very fast and friendly - with drinks poured strong ( which I appreciate). This a MKE summer staple to check out!

Lots of options and all fresh food. Service is quick, but get early on weekends to get your table. I guess this is the only restaurant with actual tables, but they offer bar seats as well.

We saw the oyster bar and we were told that we can come inside and get a table inside or outside for two. After reading the reviews, I was amazed we were able to come in and snag a table. Joe, our waiter came quickly, took our order & our meal came out quickly. This is amazing; I'm thrilled! We were able to snag a table at 1 o'clock. I started with a Saint Paul lobster tail bloody Mary garnished with salmon crack, shrimp & celery with a beer chaser. The salmon was like candy and the shrimp was fresh and did not disappoint. Then I had a cup of lobster bisque that I was silk creamy and perfect. Maybe the best I've ever had. The Saint Paul, famous East Coast, brioche, lobster salad roll with fries and coleslaw were overflowing with deliciousness. Yelp asks what would be my favorite meal and this is it !!! This lunch was truly a wow!!!

SPFC continues to be one of my favorite seafood joints in the entire country; it's literally the first place I go when in Milwaukee. Everything is amazingly fresh, lightly prepared, and flavorful. Add to that a super friendly staff, and you have a winner. Don't miss the Walleye Fish Fry and Clam Strips.

Food 5/5 Service 4/5 Ambiance 4.5/5 One of the stars of the Milwaukee Public Market, the St. Paul Fish Company sells amazing, fresh seafood that's sure to be used in a wide variety of foods. Their market selection is lovely, with crab, a variety of fish, and my favorite seafood - scallops. Everything I've bought from them was of great quality, and you absolutely cannot go wrong with their products. As if I was begging to find another reason to come here, there's a seafood bar and restaurant run by the market too. I've sat at the bar every time I've visited - and the oyster rotation never fails to impress. Different oysters are offered on a rotation, each with their own tastes and looks. I'm always happy to try one of everything on the day's oyster selection. I can't recommend this place enough honestly. The only drawback I can think of is that the place gets crowded VERY quickly upon opening. The prices on the seafood are also a little higher than normal, but the quality is well worth the up-charge. I make it a point to buy something here every time I'm in Milwaukee.

Always a solid choice when I'm craving seafood. I usually get the lobster roll and my spouse the lobster boil, both are excellent! The lobster is always fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. We've also tried their oysters on multiple occasions, they are consistently fresh and delicious. The place is usually packed, but it's worth the wait! Everything we've tried so far has always been on point. Definitely a spot we keep coming back to.

Located within the public market and super buzzy - was lucky to get a seat at the bar (first come first serve) although service was a little slow. They have a crazy Bloody Mary on the menu with shrimp, "salmon crack", and a lobster tail, or you can order it without the lobster tail which is what I opted for. It was a great bloody - really enjoyed the mix and the salmon crack was great. They had 6 oysters on rotation when I went and I got one of each. I was a little peeved because when the server was handing over the plate one of the oysters fell off and landed meat-side down on the table and he just kinda shrugged it off. Really bizarre that he wouldn't have offered to replace it imo. The oysters were also not shucked super well and I had to basically separate the meat myself with a fork. With that said, service was friendly otherwise and the prices were excellent - oysters were only around $2.50 or less and drinks were inexpensive as well. I didn't order additional food but from what I could see around me it looked good. Would likely return but wouldn't rush back.

This place will take care of you. Put your name on the list and you will be fed even after closing time.. when seated service was quick.Drinks first and hot food shortly afterwards...... perfect timing. The crab cake sandwich and fried shrimp dinner was delicious. This place has a big menu it's so much more to try, and they have specials for every day of the week.. you can also buy fresh seafood to cook yourself. I can't wait to come back .....try this place if you haven't it's definitely worth it!!! I watched my server take multiple tables orders with out writing anything down...that's definitely special....... And she got everything done right and quickly. Great service!!!

Hard to believe my best meal in Milwaukee comes from a seafood place in an open air marketplace. But this place was crazy good! Came in for lunch on a Tuesday and ordered blackened scallops with mixed veggies and a fruit salsa. OMG were they good! Even the veggies were good. Service was fast and friendly. Would not hesitate to come back again.

If it's too busy, can you order your food & drinks, and then go enjoy them in the upstairs area?

    Yes you can.

Are there certain menu items that are better when ordering to-go?

I love the lobster roll and tuna salad there! The raw oysters are so fresh and delicious. I would stick to non fried items for to go options! Those might be on the soggy side by the time you eat them.

I am wanting to take my sister out for dinner for her birthday and she loves seafood. I would have a party of 6 and a toddler. Would it be possible to accommodate all of us?

Yes. But if you've never been, this place is very crowded and in the midst of the Public Market. It is NOT a stand alone restaurant. The food is great, but not your typical restaurant. Always very crowded, very casual and lively!

What's the difference between their Friday lake perch fry and their daily perch fry?

The same but cheaper on Friday from 4 till 8.

Almost any Asian cuisine you need items for - Indian, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Chinese etc... I would recommend looking around because they likely have what you're searching for here. Foreign candy and drinks? Check. Unique and quality produce? Check. Fresh and frozen meats and seafood? Check. Fresh baked specialty goods? All the kimchi? That kitchen gadget you needed but couldn't find? Triple check. Everything I normally purchase from closer Asian markets can be found here, but often in a wider selection. For example, I love hotpot. I generally buy Little Sheep brand and my local store has two non-spicy flavors. There were several at Pan Asia. As well as other brands in spicy and mild flavors. It's like Aldi vs Walmart. Yes Aldi has what you're looking for, but Walmart will probably have more variety. The place is large and can feel overwhelming at first. But once you have an idea of how everything is laid out it becomes easier to find what's on your list. It's essentially the same as other grocers- produce at the entry, meat in the back and frozen items along the far wall with dry goods and staples in the center. I visit every couple of months just to see what's new and seasonal. I've not tried the restaurants yet as they're generally pretty busy. But I have purchased bakery items and recommend everything. I think there's also a boba tea counter and the fact that I've not tried it yet blows my mind. Maybe next visit! The checkout has always been pretty fast, even on the busiest days. And there's almost always someone available around the store if you need assistance finding items.

H Mart was my favorite, followed by Ranch 99. Unfortunately, here in Wisconsin, I have to now drive nearly 10 miles to get to the closest Asian market! So when I heard Pan Asian was opening in my area (2-3 years ago), I literally marked my calendar for opening day. I'm so happy they're a part of the community now! First off, today, LOUIS deserves a big gold star (if not a raise, hint hint, management, lol). Not only did he stop what he was doing, but walked me over to what I was looking for. TWICE. No eye-rolling, no exasperated sighs - nope, he just said "sure, it's right over here..." THAT kind of customer support alone goes MILES for those who are new or unfamiliar with a place (as I was), and makes me want to return again soon! Like many Asian stores, Pan Asian had elements of "chaos" throughout the store - they were doing lots of stocking when I was there (mid-afternoon on a Wednesday), and the music was a bit too loud (Note to management: background music is supposed to be just that - in the background, quiet and atmospheric - not a dance club). As at other stores, Pan Asian needs to keep tabs on their price tags - many were missing, or the product above the price tag was NOT the product on the tag, or 2 different but similar products by the same brand with only one price tag made shopping a bit frustrating. But as I always do, I'll have a short list of 3-5 items, and end up leaving with a cartful. ‍ For me it's easy to spend a solid hour or more there, just oooh-ing and ahhh-ing over all the exotic items, the live fish, the interesting kitchen goods (even if I can't read 99% of the labels). I always try to leave with something new to me; today, it was pickled plums (I've started making sushi and onigiri at home, and heard pickled plums were a Japanese favorite with onigiri). They're awesome, but very salty, indeed. Their produce section is large, amazing, and FRESH. Hard to choose what to get from that section, as well as their bountiful flavorings, sauces, Speaking of, I was thrilled to find that the store also has an incredible sushi selection and yes, even onigiri too (though TBT the price was a bit steeper than I hoped, and I could not find any onigiri molds in their hard goods section). I must admit that several items I looked at throughout the store seemed rather pricey - not sure if that a tariffs thing, or an import thing - so I will stick with Woodman's for my "regular" shopping, while supplementing with more of the fun Asian items I find at Pan Asian!

Most of those spots only open for dinner, so I was thrilled to find that Bavette La Boucherie now serves lunch. My friend, a local, told me the restaurant originally began as a butcher shop. While that's no longer the case, the space still pays tribute to its roots -- shelves lined with kitchen knick-knacks, butcher-block counters, and a display of local provisions that hint at its past. Chef-owner Karen Bell leads the way here, and you can feel her touch throughout -- from the creative menu to the casual-elegant vibe. The décor blends exposed brick and warm wood with soft light and a friendly hum from the open kitchen. Our server, Matthew R., had only been with Bavette a couple of weeks, but his background in restaurant management showed. He was knowledgeable, attentive, and offered great suggestions. Before our sandwiches arrived, we shared a cup of pork and tomatillo pozole topped with cabbage slaw and a dollop of sour cream. It was piping hot, bright, and deeply flavorful -- the kind of starter that makes you stop talking for a minute just to enjoy the next spoonful. Having read rave reviews of the Korean steak au jus, I nearly ordered it, but Matthew suggested the roast-beef with cheddar since I'm not a big lunch eater. Excellent call. The sandwich was divine -- tender, flavorful beef layered with melted cheddar on a crisp, perfectly toasted roll. The beef-fat fries had great depth of flavor, though I'd love them even more if they were twice-cooked for that extra crunch. Being more of a gin or vodka drinker, I couldn't resist the Gin Old Fashioned on the cocktail list. It was delicious -- smooth, aromatic, and balanced enough that I happily ordered a second. Great food, warm service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Bavette La Boucherie is a gem I can't wait to revisit.
