When we walked in after lunch, a table was open and we got seated without waiting. Our server Edith was friendly. Food was very good. My blackened ahi tuna (dinner) was fresh and delicious. If you love lobster, this is the place to be--they even serve lobster on a stick, which was a fun first for us! Located right inside the public market, the atmosphere is lively and busy, but we were lucky enough to get seated very quickly. The service was great and quick. Must try: Lobster Roll! Why: Loved the butter toasted brioche bun loaded with Lobster! Bun has slightly crispy exterior and was buttery goodness. Fried and coleslaw were also really good. I had a meal here many years ago while in town and enjoyed it. Recently I had the opportunity to return. St. Paul Fish Market is located inside the very busy and popular Milwaukee Public Market indoor shopping complex downtown. It reminds me of the Pike Place Fish Market in Seattle. The only parking option that I am aware of is metered street parking. The building has 2 levels but the 1st floor is where most of the business are. It appeared to me that St. Paul's is the most popular business there. It is a seafood restaurant and fresh fish market. They have a small sit down area for table service dining or you can order your food to go at the counter. After being seated and reviewing the menu I decided to order the same meal I had over 11 years ago. I went with a bowl of clam chowder for $8 to start and then added a fried grouper sandwich ($16) with french fries for another $2.50. The chowder was perfect. Flavorful, delicious and I wanted more (5). The sandwich also was delicious and satisfying made with quality fish, lettuce, tomato, and bread. However while it tasted very good halfway through eating it the bread bun started to disintegrate and then quickly turned to mush before I could finish. Then I needed a fork to finish it. It got messy and I don't like that in a sandwich. It's only for that reason I give an overall 4 score instead of a 5. The french fries were very good tasting too but I had ordered too much food and only had room for a few of them.The table service was very warm and friendly. I believe St. Paul's is a very good choice for a casual seafood meal but please buy more sturdy buns! read more

This is a popular spot inside the Public Market, for a reason. The food is really good. I have been here a couple of times and have not had anything I wouldn't recommend. My last visit here, I was coming in for lunch. It was a beautiful Friday and it was popping, but I was able to get a table quickly. I am going to preface this by saying my lunch was delicious. It just wasn't what I ordered. That was on the waitress and not the restaurant. She was friendly, but doesn't write things down, and she is not as good at that as she thinks. I ordered a blackened salmon sandwich with fries instead of chips. She dropped it off and I didn't see her again until we were finished with lunch, so I ate it. At first I thought it might have been the mahi mahi, but upon receiving the receipt, I saw it was swordfish. That isn't on the kitchen, it was rang in that way. Still very tasty and cooked perfectly. The prices are good and they have an excellent selection. I saw other waitstaff writing things down, my recommendation would be that everyone do so. A great place! My son and I were in town for the Brewers/Cubs game (Stadium Tour '26) and St. Paul's was recommended by our hotel. Very pleased as this was bustling with activity and had a very vibrant city-scene feel! I saw another patron order the Maine Lobster Roll and had to ask her what is was because it looked so good. She said she got it every time and highly recommended it. I wish I knew her name because I would offer to sing at her wedding....the Maine Libster Roll was TO DIE FOR!! Really well priced seafood options in Milwaukee. My husband and I came here before a show at the Riverside and we knew we would have to come back to try their other items. I got the walleye fish fry with chips and my husband got the fried catfish po boy. Both were delicious and the fish was super flavorful and not bland at all. It came with two things of tartar sauce which I loved, because you could put a decent amount of sauce on each piece of fish. I'll definitely have to be back to try their lobster roll, lobster bisque, and other po boys. Great spot! There's a huge parking lot for the Milwaukee public market as well. I would definitely recommend this place! We had the calamari, chowder and lobster roll. Everything was delicious! The lobster roll had a healthy amount of lobster. The calamari was not over breaded. I stopped here on my way to the airport after the Milwaukee Public Museum for lunch. I decided I want to get the lobster roll to try. It came with slaw french fries and the roll. The perch fish fry was the standout item - the fish was moist with a good texture and the breading stayed on well instead of falling off. The staff was friendly and checked on me regularly throughout my meal. The clam chowder was disappointing - it was thin and watery with very few clams visible or tasteable. Having had bunch of chowder in SF and Seattle before, this wasn't great - I'd even prefer Kroger's version over this one. The lobster roll could have been better with larger chunks of meat, but the pieces were cut too small and there was too much mayo mixed in. I sampled each type of oyster they had - all were shucked properly and tasted fresh without any fishiness. This place serves decent basic seafood. Located within the public market and super buzzy - was lucky to get a seat at the bar (first come first serve) although service was a little slow. They have a crazy Bloody Mary on the menu with shrimp, "salmon crack", and a lobster tail, or you can order it without the lobster tail which is what I opted for. It was a great bloody - really enjoyed the mix and the salmon crack was great. They had 6 oysters on rotation when I went and I got one of each. I was a little peeved because when the server was handing over the plate one of the oysters fell off and landed meat-side down on the table and he just kinda shrugged it off. Really bizarre that he wouldn't have offered to replace it imo. The oysters were also not shucked super well and I had to basically separate the meat myself with a fork. With that said, service was friendly otherwise and the prices were excellent - oysters were only around $2.50 or less and drinks were inexpensive as well. The tables are located near the entrance off of the corner entrance of N Broadway and St Paul Ave. We ordered calamari starter which was very good and we liked the breading on it. We also got a cup of gumbo. For the entrees we got the Maine Lobster Roll and Scallop Dinner. Having grown up in the Northeast of the US and having had Maine Lobster Rolls - I loved the Maine Lobster Roll as it had all the flavors that I have missed. There's is a large amount of lobster on a thick buttered bread. The fries that were included didn't have much taste and were my least favorite part of the meal. My husband enjoyed his scallop dinner - pan seared to perfection however a bit heavy handed on the saltiness. Amazing stop while visiting the Public Market. After doing a lap, this is where we decided to rest and take in lunch. There is a counter that you can order from for take away and also different smoked fish in their case. The seating area for lunch is small, so we waited about 30 minutes on a Saturday. Totally worth it though. The clam strips tasted so fresh, and the were not overly greasy or heavy. The Jerk Swordfish was my favorite item and did not disappoint. Came on a day trip to Milwaukee from Chicago and was excited to try out this place after researching the Milwaukee Public Market. We got q table right away and we ordered the oyster shots. It came with the oyster inside a Bloody Mary mix and a shooter. The oyster in the mix was so delicious! It was a great mixture of flavors. We then got the green salad and added lobster salad to that. My go-to spot for seafood and want to go somewhere close to home. I love their clam chowder, also so hearty and a good flavor. Calamari was just okay, guess I look for a little more seasoning.
