Local businesses told us (group of 6) this was a good place to go for dinner. The ambience was good and we were early enough in the evening the place was just about empty. We were seated quickly. However, the attitude/knowledge of the server turned us off completely. We asked for beers that were advertised in the window outside and she said she never heard of them. Her demeanor was rude. Today was our second visit and it was another good experience. We both had the pork chop sandwich served on a fresh bun with lettuce, tomato and a nice tangy, but light aioli . I had the tots as a side and my wife had a unique hot potato salad. Very unique with a mustard base. The potatoes had been flash fried and tossed in the sauce. Tots were hot and crispy. We also shared a cup of their unique chili made with stout beer and Bloody Mary mix, topped with cheese and a dollop of sour cream. This place resembles a bar, but serves up great food. The restroom could use a little work, but it was clean. Worth a stop over in Brunswick, GA. Take a walk around the quaint downtown after your meal for another treat. read more

Tuesday night, medium dinner crowd. Ordered a smashed burger w/chips & smashed dog w/fried potato salad. Only thing good was the burger. Chips were stale and cold, couldn't find the dog for the cover of cold chili and coleslaw. Don't know how they called the potato dish potato salad. Tasted more like hash. Very disappointing dinner. First time eating here, and we were blown away. I had the large Caesar salad with blackened chicken and was in heaven throughout the meal. It was one of the best salads I've ever had (my preferred meal) and we will be returning in the near future. Our daughter had the small Caesar salad with chicken (not blackened - what a shame), which she enjoyed, and husband and the others had the special of the day - a bbq sauce-smothered pork chop sandwich with fries - they loved their meal, but two of the three of them were hungry again for dinner (growing men). Brunswick doesn't have a lot of options for decent pubs. This might be the only one, in fact. That said, Tipsy McSway's would be a good choice even in a healthier town. I stopped in while passing through. My touchstone for pubs - the beer list - was a little weaker than I expected. No decent craft IPA on draft, for example. But there were other acceptable beers available. Food menu is about what you'd expect. Based on Yelper recommendations, I did try the fried goat cheese balls. Very tasty, with just the right amount of decadence. Along with the cheese, I settled on wings. Unfortunately, Tipsy doesn't offer a spicy version (the closest I could discern was the house 'Tipsy' sauce, which was described as sweet & spicy, something I suspected leaned more towards the sweet than I would have liked) so I went with regular Buffalo wings. Just OK. Well cooked but could have used some more flavor, any flavor. Perhaps I should have gambled on the Tipsy sauce. Service was just fine and the space is reasonably inviting. Not sure it would have been once the band cranks up, but you have a different dining experience at places with live music, don't you? A bigger bar would be nice, too. Wow! Wasn't expecting much when we walked in, as it is mostly a bar type atmosphere. The sidewalk board advertised a portobello and Swiss burger, so my wife wanted to go! We both had burgers and onion rings. My "tipsy" burger, cooked a perfect medium rare, was one of the best burgers that I've had in a while! The onion ring were pretty special also! read more

Another lunch spot in the Golden Isles, Tipsy McSway's offers well-priced ($10-$14 Entrees) bar fare to get your fix while in downtown Brunswick. After a fabulous visit to Richland Rum, we enjoyed the substantial snacks and- above all- the warm service. While the food didn't quite deliver on the expectation, overall I'd love to give Tipsy's another shot. The main complaints our party had was the dryness of the food. To be fair, Tipsy's seemed to be slammed, as service was slow and the dining room was packed beyond typical COVID-19 capacity. As a result, however, it was probably a 30 minute wait from ordering to the food arriving at the table, and the food was over cooked (medium - rare burger was more like well done - medium). This was especially disappointing when the special, a Chicken Chimichanga, arrived in a similar manner. Nevertheless, the staff was kind, courteous, and even a little apologetic about the wait. On a cold afternoon, they had no qualms with letting us mess with their outdoor heater for us to stay warm. I want to mention that we happened to meet the owner of the establishment, Susan, who was really a joy to talk to. She explained all the work that they were doing to build their COVID-compliant experience, namely a Contactless Payment Option. It's clear that Susan has an ear to the ground on trends in the neighborhood, and it's reflected in how popular a spot the restaurant is! read more

If you love a loud environment -- this is definitely the place for you! However, I found it hard to hear the people I was speaking to over how loud it was. Best restaurant in the Brunswick/St Simons area. It's unassuming and looks like a standard bar and restaurant. In reality it's the gold standard. Parking is easily accessible in front of the restaurant. The atmosphere is inviting and relaxed. Seat yourself. Decor is mixed modern, historical, industrial with quality custom work and art. Service so far has been in the family and perfect. The food. 10 out of 10 stars. The recipes are mastered, balanced, and delicious. Fresh ingredients. Portions are huge. A side dish special featured house made pesto and the main a citrus slaw that was out of this world. The veggie falafel burger is thick and yummy, try it with olive tapenade, feta, tomato, and arugula (choose your toppings no extra charge!) Disco Fries! Made with queso and quality bleu cheese! Not a fan of bleu cheese but it works so well in that dish. I could eat it everyday- dangerous! My guy says the burgers are phenomenal. The presentation of the plates could represent in a magazine and compete with some of the best I've ever visited. Top all this of with affordability. Now the bar. A nice selection of craft beers and the mixed drinks that I've seen looked gorgeous and delicious. I could see that live music happens there. This place is in historical downtown Brunswick, on the water. Before you drive to the island, give the place a go. It's the best yet. Best little place we have been to in a while! The pics of the fried goat cheese balls lured me in and we drove from Fernandina just based on those alone. First of all let me tell you Brunswick is an adorable little town...so quaint! The place was not packed at all..parking was a breeze. There are a couple other locally owned restaurants that we plan to try soon but Tipsy's was our ticket last night! We were welcomed in my April who is bubbly and wonderful. She was also our server and honestly the best server I think I have ever had...like ever!!!! We started with beer...of course! They were out of the shandy on tap but offered to make me a grapefruit one with a tap pale ale...did I mention they used fresh grapefruit..oh yes and so good I had two. My husband went for the nitro which I know nothing about other than it smells like motor oil. You know we ordered those goat cheese balls stat. Came out hot and crispy and drizzled with honey...omg perfection. The owner said it was her idea and took 4 months to perfect. By the way it's a mom and son ownership team. She retired from the Camden hospital and opened this little joint with her son! Only been in business 4 years but I think they have figured it out quite nicely! We debated over what to order because this menu is amazing. Finally went with an assortment of appetizers including the blackened chicken nachos, onion rings and wings! These nachos were too good! The queso is on point and the chips are thick, seasoned and crunchy with no greasy after taste! Guac is delicious! Onion rings are thin and batter is well seasoned! We went for the tipsy wings and which were a spicy sweet flavor. My husband spotted the bourbon selection at the bar and started a conversation with the bartender about their selections. Quite a diverse selection they had. He went with Coopers Craft, a straight Kentucky Bourbon! He was pleased so pleased he had two. They also offered ice spheres which made him very happy. A duo (Billy & Bella) out of Jacksonville performed on the tiny but adequate stage. We were worried at first because we were sitting very close but it wasn't that loud. Turns out our seats were perfect! The duo was awesome. The girl (which her name is not Bella) had a Janis Joplin sound and the guy (which is not Billy) had a Roy Orbison vibe but with an Asian twist! Honestly, they literally rocked! We could not leave without ordering some beignets, which they offer with either cinnamon sugar, chocolate sauce or honey. We asked for a small side of honey and chocolate. The honey won and we asked for more. In conclusion (since this is a Yelp Novel), this place was worth the drive and made our date night! Ok, I must be honest, I have visited this burger bar only on a couple of occasions, but I have never been disappointed. I have the Tipsy Burger every time I visit, just because it is that darn good. This seems to be a great place, just judging by the number of locals that are always there. The inside of the bar is nice and well lit (dimly in a good way). For those wanting a little fresh air with their dinner, there are a couple of nice tables out front of the building facing the street. Now the Burger and Fries....I have the Tipsy Burger and love it!!! Yes, I order the same thing every time I come here, because once I find something I really, really like, I return to try it again and again. The burger chefs must have a magic recipe or something, because it is always cooked exactly how I want it and the flavor is always...perfect! The French fries are perfectly greasy. This little bar in downtown Brunswick deserves to be better populated than it apparently is. It sits on one those little mini-parks in downtown and fronts onto the main street. The guy behind the bar was friendly and very personable and made me the absolute best Salty Dog I've ever had. I actually usually don't order these in bars because the frozen/packaged fruit juice they typically use is too sweet. Tipsy's though makes theirs from real ruby grapefruit and they squeeze them at the bar in front of you. So your drink is freshly made from fresh fruit and it's...amazing. At least I thought so. The poor bartending guy had to make me three and I could happily have sat there all night drinking them. We had dinner plans elsewhere so we didn't have much in the way of food. We did try one appetizer, some kind of fried goat cheese thing and it was pretty tasty. The tangy hot goat cheese matched up well with the sweet zing of the grapefruit in my drink. The bar itself is pretty typical for a bar. It's all dark wood and clustered tables. There are a couple of big windows that look out into the small park, which has a giant oak tree in it and this lends a nice touch to the general ambiance. They line all their alcohol bottles up in front of that window for a nice display. There is a tiny stage in the back where apparently they have live music on weekends. We were there too early for that, which may also have explained why there were only a few other people there. Whenever I come to Brunswick I am struck by how much potential the downtown area has. Places like this are important for good things to happen in small towns. So if you find yourself in the area, get to Tipsy's and do some drinking! read more
