Went to Fiddlers last night. Great location and good vibe. We were seated quickly which was surprising for a group of 9. Service was excellent. One piece of advice.....stay away from the scallops. Worst scallops I've ever had. Ordered them grilled but they looked like they had been boiled and covered with heavy spice.....terrible! All the other meals looked great but they really need to simplify the scallops. It's not that hard to do. read more

If I could only recommend one restaurant on St. Simon's, it would be Fiddler's. This place has it all. Stellar cocktails, friendly service, great views, modern design aesthetic, and incredible food. My only gripe is that they do not take reservations, though even on a Friday night, I've been able to get seated within 20-30 minutes, and you can always grab a drink from the bar and hang out on the lawn while you wait. This most recent visit, I started with the seafood chowder, one of my favorite soups on the island. Creamy, hearty, with plenty of fish, shrimp, crab, and potatoes. Shared a crabcake with my girlfriend--another solid choice, with plenty of crab, not too heavy on the filling, and with a lovely remoulade. For mains, we both had the grilled redfish, a baked potato for me, and mixed veggies for her. Perfectly cooked pieces of fish with a nice crust on the outside while still being moist and tender. Dessert this time was the chocolate pie, which was quite nice, not being too heavy nor excessively sweet. Did I mention the cocktails? I'm a big fan of the smokey mango Fiddlerita (a mezcal take on the classic marg), and the saladito a close second (again, mezcal, but with a little honey and cayenne). The girlfriend enjoys the basil smash (hold the simple syrup, please). Previously, we've tried the artichoke dip, which is also fantastic, shrimp and grits (solid, but Reid's does it better), blackened tripletail over creamy leek sauce (a special, and special indeed), and the key lime pie (excellent). Atmosphere very cool. Staff very attentive. Wife got Shrimp basket with Mac n cheese. Mac n cheese better than my grandma's apparently! Tea Great. Fish and chips started off good but didnt stick to the fish. 2nd piece found half undercooked yet coating didnt stick. Fish wouldn't flake apart. Fish had to be cut with knife so didnt finish it. UPDATE. Several hours later, bad diarrhea! Smelled like poorly cooked attempt at British Cod. Fumigated the house with "natural gas". Wife yelled at me. Got sprayed physically with bathroom spray. Now Im on the couch, hot and sad hoping I dont get a sequel bathroom experience.... read more

Update from previous times at Fiddlers. It was easy to walk in on a Thursday and grab a seat at the bar or a table. The staff was attentive and decent menu. We were trying to get there for a happy hour specials that majority of places have. Not Fiddlers, not ever the bartender said. Kind of a let down because people told us there was a good happy hour visit Fiddlers. Something the owners should consider. The staff went over the specials , only one for dinner. The rest of the menu was food inside a bowl or basket and sea food. The location has limited parking down a narrow road. The open porch is outstanding with a view of the marsh. read more

This is a popular place anytime of day. The food is great. The menu is always good. The waitresses and waiters are knowledgeable and happy. This is a St Simons staple place! You can dine out on the open or you can eat inside by the fireplace either place is delightful. A nice place on the marsh away from the pier area. The building is beautiful both inside and outside. There is seating on the porch and down by the marsh there are fire pits and seating. Parking next to the building, but I noticed when I left it was full. I had shrimp and grits and it was delicious. The shrimp were a good size and the sauce was outstanding. The key lime pie was recommended by several friends so I had to indulge. Wow, the size, presentation and taste was excellent! Fiddlers as a whole was a good restaurant. The bartenders were nice and made great drinks. The food we had was also very good. The only gripe I have with the place is not its fault, but the customers would definitely rather strut than work if you're catching my drift. Nice place to eat, but not the best place to hang out imo. read more

The place itself is super nice. The views of the marsh give it a great vibe. We shared the crab cake. It was not full of filler and was awesome with the roumalade sauce. (I probably butchered that spelling.) I got the redfish with jerk seasoning and mom got the shrimp salad. Both were fantastic! We will go back for sure! read more

Went to Fiddlers for a friends birthday (party of 7) on a saturday night, and they were packed. We waited about an hour & 15 min which is what we were quoted; grabbed drinks at the bar while we waiting outside. Once we sat we were quickly greeted by our sweet server Skylar, so helpful and friendly, we loved her. Buffalo shrimp app was delicious! I got to redfish étouffée, recommended by skylar and WOW! So delicious, everyone at the table was constantly stealing bites of it. It had so much flavor, i'm still thinking about it. Guava margarita was also a fan favorite at the table. The manager Reese was also so lively and generous, made sure we were well taken care of! We really liked this place. We came by in the afternoon for an early dinner and some cocktails and sat on the deck. Although the windows are covered with clear plastic due to the season the view over the marshes is lovely. Our server told us she was new but she did a great job, and patiently answered our many questions. I had the seasonal salmon salad and it was delicious. The salmon was fresh and flavorful and was expertly cooked. My friend had the fish and chips. It was a huge plate of food and she loved it. She let me try her fries and they were yummy (I am very picky about fries). Our cocktails (bloody mary, old fashioned) were well-made, quite large, and strong. Went with a group for a luncheon. Always a comfortable place to go with Island atmosphere and marsh views. Wonderful young waitress, wish I'd gotten her name. I started out with a lemon drop martini which was delicious...yes, this was a celebration reunion. Then as I didn't really want a huge serving, I ordered the buffalo shrimp app and fried green tomatoes. Both were delicious and not usual. The hubs and I went for a dinner date around 7:30 on a Friday. Let me tell ya it's super busy! My first time there so if you don't know be prepared to wait for a table. It is a bit nicer of a dinner place and most people were in either business casual, dresses, golf attire, or date night clothes. They do have a great bar area vibe for date night so we decided to grab a drink and wait it out to see the bar had some seats free up. Eventually it did, probably about 30 min wait. Bar service was nice and got us drinks pretty quick. We ordered and shared a steak and sides. We did unfortunately had to send the steak back bc it was overcooked but another one came out super quick and also brought me all new sides. If you love dessert, you have to try the key lime- it's amazing!! I would love to go back and sit outside and enjoy the view on our next visit. read more

Went to Fiddler's last night for the first time and we loved it! Great atmosphere with lots of seating. Service was wonderful. Loved the jalapeño mule! Can I give this a higher rating? I came here two years ago when they first opened and had their scallops bowl, and it was amazing. Back in town tonight so I tried their crab cakes with a side of garlic mashed potatoes. Best. Restaurant. Mashed. Potatoes. Eva. Hands down. We did have to wait over an hour (on a Wednesday??) for a table for 3, BUT we were outside watching the EGRET near on top of the cell phone tower. Omg. Also, their key like pie is to die for. Always ordered the buffalo shrimp this time wish I didn't dry out, over fried. Crap cake mostly bread. Partner ordered the Fiddlers Burger said it taste like a water burger. Which I guess is a boiled burger. Fish and Chips were good. Oh and ordered McCallans scotch. Got charged for an ice cube $2.00. Never ever have I been charged for an ice cube. Most of my family members got one of the Fiddlers Bowls, which were all delicious. I went with the Redfish Étouffée, which was okay. We tried a lot of restaurants on the island, but this was the best meal that we had on our week long honeymoon here!! We started with the best peel and eat shrimp, and then ordered the red fish and fried green tomatoes as an entree with a side salad. Literally the best redfish we've had! And the fried green tomatoes have basil and pimento cheese which makes them so unique and delicious. Not too greasy.
