I'm not sure why this place does not have better reviews--I have been getting my nails done here regularly for more than a year now and I have had nothing but good experiences. For reference, I always get a dip manicure and gel pedicure. Here is what I like: - I make an appointment (usually 1-3 days ahead of time). I show up and they start working on my nails right away. No waiting. - They offer complimentary beverage service. - They have an INCREDIBLE selection of colors to choose from. - My nails always look fire and always hold up very well. - The nail techs always get my nails done in a timely fashion. If I am getting both services done, I am usually out of there in 1.5-2 hours. If I am getting one service done, it's usually about 45 minutes.   The only thing that I wish they could do is work on my fingers and toes at the same time. I'm all about efficiency and as much as I would love to just unwind and sit in the nail salon for hours at a time, the reality is I usually need to get in and out of there as quickly as possible. Other than that, this place is great. I cannot recommend Tipsy Nails enough! Definitely the best nail salon I've been to in the Des Moines metro. read more

I've given this salon multiple chances, assuming my previous experiences may have been one-time issues--but unfortunately, that hasn't been the case. Each time I've gotten gel nails, they've chipped within just a few days, despite normal day-to-day activity. On another visit, I tried dip powder, and the application was poor--my natural nail was not properly adhered to the overlay, leaving visible gaps between the two. In addition, every appointment has felt rushed, and the final result has lacked neatness and attention to detail. Based on my repeated experiences, I cannot recommend this salon. read more

They were extremely rough on both my fingers and toes. Two days later and my fingers still hurt from the service. They destroyed the integrity of my nails and it's going to take so much work to get them back to where they were before. Very disappointed in the services here. read more

I have had acrylic nails for years and have never had any problems with my fingers hurting until this salon. Over the last 6 months I have seen at least 3 different nail techs that completed beautiful nails for me. However, they are so aggressive in their filing along the sides of my nails that I end up with open wounds that take weeks to heal. I have told them time and again to be gentle and not use their nails to separate my skin from my nailbeds, they assure me they'll be gentle and go right back to cutting my fingers with their own fingernails and emory boards. I'm tired of being in pain for weeks each time I get a fill and will not be returning. The pictures are 4 days after having my nails filled. Tipsy Nails is my new go-to nail salon. The staff is kind and VERY experienced! They offer complimentary beer, wine, soda, and water. I've had 5+ friends go and they've all had great experiences. I've gotten a dip manicure twice there and a pedicure once. They were long lasting and looked great. They have a huge facility that would be great for a girl's day or group activity. The ladies that did my nails were very nice and easy to talk with. They also did a wonderful job painting my nails, especially considering they were shorter than normal. I specifically asked for a manicure with cuticle care. The equipment didn't look sanitary. The cuticle care wasn't great and my nails were still bumpy bc it wasn't properly file. The lady was very hard to understand and mumbled the whole time. She asked me if I wanted a design, I said yes but she didn't ask me what I wanted and did her own thing without asking me if it's what I wanted. No. Going to this place to try it out, my toes came out nice but when i went to get acrylic the polish was chunky and little hairs kept getting in them. I had asked to get a design and the lady had not said she couldn't do the design so i asked to touch it up and she got upset and took it off, then i had got gems and did nit like how she drilled 3 nails for the gems but not the others so i asked to take them off and leave. I would definitely recommend making an appointment, because they got really busy! I got a gel pedicure and a dip manicure and loved both! The design on my nails (done with gel) started to chip about a week or so after getting them done, but the dip has stayed on great! You also have a lot of complementary drinks to choose from. Listen... I'm not a complainer at all. I don't believe in sending my food back or yelling at service people or even writing bad reviews over one bad experience. However, I'm compelled to complain today because there have been a few bad trips to this place. I had a bad time with these people when they were B nails and i decided to give them a try again since they are close to my house and several people recommended them. Ive been to the new location twice now. I made an appointment to have my current nails removed and a new set placed on. i was very clear about what i needed and i showed up on time ready to go. the lady that did my nails didnt have a name tag and didnt answer me when i asked her her name. when she greeted me it wasnt pleasant and she rolled her eyes and scoffed when she found out she had to do more than just a fill. she proceeded to not use any acetone to remove the acrylic from my nails, she decided to just rip them off with a spare tip one by one. i asked her why she did it that way since it was an extremely painful process. she didnt answer, she seemed to hear just fine when she asked me if i was going to the fair and rolled her eyes at my answer though. she took almost an hour and a half to remove the 6 acrylic nails i had left on my hands and place a new set. this was because she didnt use acetone to help or drills to help. she did my whole set my hand file. i got a french manicure. she left all the acrylic underneath my nails on my left hand, the french manicure looks like absolute crap, she never used the drill, she hand filed my whole set which is not a problem if you do it right. she did not. i promise you my nails look terrible and im embarrassed to even have them on my hands and she charged me 76.00 to do it all. and rolled her eyes when i told her i was not happy. i wont have them fix it and i absolutely will not be back. i didnt have a chance to correct her as she was doing my nails because her energy was so crappy i decided to rest my face in my arms until she was done since i was not getting a pleasurable or relaxing experience. I will be adding pictures its important to note that she didn't cut the nails as i asked and these nails were done 2 days prior to my post. the nails look dirty because its impossible to clean under them with the amount of extra acrylic underneath my nails. i dont know her name but she has a blunt bang and a asymmetrical bob, wears glasses. dont let her do your nails. the picture is alarming. please be prepared. read more

We came to get our nails done for girla day and both of our nails are not what we wanted and top coat is not on right and nails are sticky not shaped at all and all different length. She filed the nail too much and it was burning and when I stated that it just she kept going. When we tried to say something they sat there and argued with us about it. we told them we were unhappy they didn't seem to care about it. I got my nails done. They are a great shape, but the color is awful. The color I chose has a metallic coat. She dipped in one color and then put gel of the metallic. The edges were the first color, not the metallic, all the way around. They told me to come back on Monday and someone else would fix them. I asked if I needed an appointment, she said no. Fast forward to Monday, I go in and the guy said they have no openings and I should have made an appointment. When I said I asked if I needed an appointment and she told me no, he said I was lying, that she would t have said that. I live an hour away and am here twice a week for my kids practice. So I asked about Wednesday. No appointments available. The guys kept saying I don't have any openings even while I was trying to figure something else out, called me a liar, wouldn't give me a refund and was just so rude. I wasn't making a big deal about it until he called me a liar. He claims that it was the language barrier that made me think I didn't need an appointment. I hadn't really decided what I wanted yet but she made me feel like they didn't make time for a "dip set" for me so I chose gel. After being sat and waiting for about 20min, I got up and asked the receptionist for one of their "complementary" drinks while I wait...(they also didn't have all the beverages they displayed) I got told my wait wouldn't be long but my tech wasn't sat and ready until 2:45! She also seemed very confused on what I wanted and had two other techs assist in finding the right color. After getting started, she definitely took her time and made sure to ask if my shape looked& length looked good. I agreed. Many of my friends have gone here & loved the experience, but I honestly did not have a great time here. I had an appointment for dip with tips and the whole thing felt very rushed. I thought maybe it was because it was a later appointment & they were closing soon (an explanation, not an excuse) but they were still making appointments for that evening while I was there. I had pictures of what I wanted (basically a cat-eye red) and the person was very unwilling to work towards that goal. She seemed very annoyed I wanted to take more than 3 minutes looking at their nail swatches, which they had a great selection of! Some of the tips were crooked & the nail surface was bumpy. They did nothing with the cuticles except file with the drill, which left them ragged as my nails grew. Pedicures are great but nails are horrible. The gel paint chips within a day. It was over the weekend and I had to cut them to make the paint chipping to stop. When I went to get them redone they charged me another $50 so $100 in a week. His reason was because I cut them. I have been going here for months and never complained but this was ridiculous.
