I had a positive first experience here today. My car has had a "wobble" when I drive around 15-20mph for the last week after a road trip to Richmond. I assumed a bent rim may be the culprit and brought it in around 12:45pm today to have it looked into. The fellas inside were nice enough and I was able to quickly give my info and drop off the key. I ran home and they called me about an hour later with a diagnosis of a blown tire. I had the guy quote me on several tires since they didn't have the exact match to my other three and settled on the mid-range replacement. Again, they called an hour later and said it was ready for pickup. I wanted to add a state inspection bc it's due this month but they said it's best to come early in the AM for that and I'll add an oil change as well. Their website has tons of info on it and you can browse around about the services and see if they have specials or coupons to apply to the work you're doing. They were able to quickly and easily take care of my problem for a fair price, so I'm pretty happy. Plus, it's only 5 minutes away. read more

if I could give less than one I would. tire choice at corner of va beach blvd and Greatneck road is a joke. went in needing a patch got sold two tires an alignment and new struts. it took 3 days to get my vehicle back bc they sold a job they didn't have enough people to do, or at least that's what was told. all we got was 140 credit. Got a quote for my 4Runner but won't take it to these clowns. Horrible service, stranded out of town and they knew it upfront. unprofessional!!! read more

INTERNET BOOKERS BEWARE-let's see...I made an appointment online for a State Inspection. Received the email that my appt was confirmed and they were looking forward to seeing me on Saturday. I got there and they stated they were first come, first serve appts and they don't take internet bookings for state inspections...was informed they had 7 fleet/business owned vehicles dropped off by one owner and they couldn't guarantee that my car would be done if I dropped off. Stated they had left me a voicemail...the voicemail stated NOTHING that they told me in person. Have been a long time customer of several Tire Choices and they definitely lost a customer today...don't think they care but thought appts were appts...guess they shouldn't offer state inspections... read more

Went in for a flat tire and was charged $40 to patch/plug it. Less than 24 hours later the same tire was completely flat again. Took it back in and was told that there was another hole in the sidewall that hadn't been fixed the first time and that I needed a new tire. They ordered the tire, put the spare on, and I came BACK in the next day to have it installed. When I asked if the $40 I paid initially could be credited towards the $160 cost of the replacement they told me that they couldn't do that but that they would give me a "customer satisfaction" discount-of $12.00. I will never go back there. If my tire was fixed properly the first time it would have saved me almost $50 plus three days of my time going back and forth to the service center. I wish I would have read the reviews prior. Its amazing how the idiot keeps rejecting vehicles for the same brake job. My sons jeep failed on brakes, he was surprised because the dealership did his brakes less than a year ago. So we took it to the dealership and they told hm the brakes have no issues and should pass inspection. However since they did the original job I had him take it to another shop and again the brakes are perfect. The issue they shared when jeep put on new pads they were larger than original so that it has a misleading pattern on the rotors. If this continues to be allowed and practiced at this shop the word will continue to get out and we will hopefully end up with a new business that operates with morals & ethics, because Frank doesn't have any as an inspector, its a money grab allowed to continue under the current business model. read more

Instead of getting a replacement and communicating with us, they automatically ordered new tires and told me that I had to pay for them. Then my dad called the store and the lady hung up on him after he asked them to return them. I am honestly disgusted and disappointed that stores like these pray on nativity. Do better. read more

Let me be the one to go ahead and help boost this location's rating. I didn't have the awful experience that others have had. I'm writing this as I wait. I originally got my tires from the Tiffany Lane location, behind 7-eleven and remembered I had some type of plan. Forgot what it was called until I mentioned it to the guys over here. They said "All Hazard" plan. Yup, that's it. Unfortunately, though they're the same company, they don't share and have access to the database, they only have access to everything at corporate level, so I wasn't in there. The gentleman said no worries, I'll call that location. They gave my info, found me, and faxed over my car, tire, and program/plan information. There was a nail in my driver-side rear tire. So it has to be replaced, versus patched (which my mom suggested anyway. It's been getting low quickly.) Anyway, they said the tire that compares to mine (since they don't have my exact one in stock,) is $105. With the "All Hazard" plan that I purchased when I got all 4 replaced a few years ago, it brings it down to $50.22 WITH tax. Yes, look it up on their website. Don't quote me, but it's something like, if there's ever a problem with the tire, you won't get charged the full amount to replace it. They look at the tread you have left and based on that, you get a discount. This was more than half off! Praise Jesus or whatever higher being you believe in! Lol Yeah, the vending machines are old and it looks like any 'ol tire and car place. This rating is based on the customer service and actual tire service I received today and how efficient everything was processed and done. I'm always a believer of good and bad ratings and not going somewhere if the rating is low. But sometimes you just gotta take a chance and might end up pleasantly surprised! I went for state inspection and oil change for my car which has 35K miles on it. They advised to change the brake pads and rotors for both front and rear tires otherwise the inspection will fail. Estimated costs were $1000-$1200. I denied the service and took the car to another auto service center. They said the brake pads are in good shape and good for another 6-8 months. They passed the car inspection without any issue. This auto service is a total rip-off. read more

I had a nice tire w/only 9k miles on it (Michelin Primacy Tour A/S) that had been plugged (by me when traveling) due to a screw puncture. New name but same scam. I went to them for a state inspection because my normal auto shop was closed due to the owners being on vacation. Tire choice changed their name from tread quarters so I was hoping their scamming ways were behind them. Nope, they failed my inspection and told me that because I had rust on my back rotors there was no contact with my break pads. They quoted me about $500 for new rotors and break pads because that was the only way I would pass inspection. It sounded fishy, so when my car shop was open again I went to get it inspected by them. My normal shop said there was minimal rust and that what tire choice said was simply not true. They passed my car and said there was no validity in failing me for my breaks. After a change in management I thought I would give them another chance. My mistake. A simple oil change turned into a $240 repair. I was told the oil filter was "stuck" because the previous oil change company put it on too "tight". So now the oil cooler has to be removed to get to the "stuck" filter. What a scam, obviously the management changed but not the tactics. Since I have to have oil in the car to drive I was forced into their "repair" demands. I used them because they're in a convenient location, but I will drive 200 miles before they touch another vehicle of mine. Stay far away from this place. read more

took two vehicles in for inspection. received two fraudulent fails. one item was questionable. the pads were close to failing even though they were thick enough. the wheel bearing was a complete and utter lie. all repair quotes were double the cost of anywhere else. . Got them to check a noise coming from my front driver side wheel. Said I needed all new control arms. was going to be a $1300 job. got a second opinion. JUST NEEDED THE LUG NUTS TIGHTENED. We could unscrew them with our fingers. My wheel was coming off and my control arms are perfectly fine. read more

We have 9 cars. And over the last 5 years this location has replaced tires or fix mechanical problems on 7 of them. I have had to warranty tires they wore out to fast as well things they have fix. And you go in upset and ready for a fight to get what's right. Well your going to be disappointed with this location. Because all there going to do is take care of you. Manager there Dan zero customer service skills, failed my car said he wasn't going to give me a rejection sticker because I failed last year but did make the repairs and received a new sticker. So inept at attention to detail that they did not read my in number properly and I had to call the state Police which is in charge of all inspections and inspectors and the pointed it out well after being spoken to as though I was an idiot by the manager Dan he was so condescending and arrogant I will never ever take my business and car to them again. I had to bring my wife's car there to have all tires rotated and one tire replaced. The tire needing replaced had a bulge/bubble on the outside wall, which was covered under their road hazard plan. After everything was completed, I ended up paying way more than expected for the tire replacement and rotation. They prorated the $160 tire worth to a measly $57. I could have purchased a road hazard plan for the defective tire at DISCOUNT TIRE for $18, and they would have replaced the defective tire for free. Unfortunately, my wife needs her car for her work related trip to DC this week, or I would've had Tread Quarter put the old tire on and went to DISCOUNT TIRE. read more

Brought my wife's car in to fix the automatic door locks. The manager informed me it would be super expensive for them to fix it, because they had to order the parts from the dealer He suggested I order the parts from on-line and he would only charge me the labor for installing them. Long story short, I ordered the parts and Treadquarters charged me around $140 to install 2 automatic door locks. The dealer would have charged me $600 per door. After a previous poor experience I brought my car in because the previous TQmechanic over tightened my lug nuts and they were stripped when I took my vehicle to Sam's club to get 4 new tires they couldn't get the tires off. I called this morning and spoke with the store manager and he was so nice and told me to come in. He replaced my rear lug nuts at no cost and got me on my way with no hassle. I usually take my dog on a walk and am not in a rush. Apparently I should have been worried. They did not see my car until nearly 6:15, I didn't leave until 7. I had a terrible experience with the inspector. My car was rejected for a burned out side marker. No problem bought the bulb and replaced it. I was told bring it back and it would be quick, I would not have to wait in line because it would be quick. Sounds right turn car on, look at bulb, put sticker on window. Not to difficult. APPARENTLY for this rude and immature guy it is just to much for him. When he was told there was a reinspect he walked across the street to get a soda and hotdogs. Sat behind a desk scrolling through his phone and drinking his soda.20 minutes later I asked the front desk if I came during lunch. So I could come back. I was told oh no we dont get lunch breaks. He then told this wonderful human inspector behind the desk with the phone and soda that I was waiting in the lobby. 10 min later he zipped my car in the empty inspection bay. 20 min later he took off the rejection sticker 15 min later he zipped back out of the bay and threw my keys on the desk. Ever talk to someone nodding your head, smiling politely all the while thinking "This guy is effing me big time?" Yeah, welcome to Kramer of Nimmo. After to talking to close personal friends of Kramer, himself I decided to go to this Firestone location despite all of the positive recommendations pertaining to a different shop. Anyway, after an abundance of miscommunication and lack of communication on their part I went from a standard procedure of tire repair and rotation that was quoted at ~$50+tax from another unrelated shop to their quote of almost $400 for repairs. All but one I did not even wind up needing. It's really in the subtleties. Myself, along with four other customers I witnessed, experienced their behind-the-counter salesman bartering us by quoting an initial price and after a refusal would state he "found a coupon for $20 off!!" The experience felt suspiciously close to a flea market and that is NOT a feeling you want in auto repair. The icing on the cake came when I was waiting to settle out and the gentleman in front of me started his visit by saying "I gotta say, I'm less than pleased. I spent $1,600--YEAH, SIX-TEEN HUNDRED DOLLARS--on tires from you guys and by the time I got home this (holding up a lug-nut) had popped off and a few others were loose." The two guys behind the counter shot him a "what do you want from me" look and just said "yeah, sorry, that shouldn't have happened...weird." I won't say avoid this place because from what I hear their other locations are very good and the owner has a reputation as a great business man who would never stand for this type of haggling-based service but as far as this location is concerned I am not only writing for myself but also on behalf of the other customers present and my girlfriend's mother who also warned me NOT to bother attending their shop, I should have listened! read more

Their price match policy states "we'll beat any competitor's advertised price or written quote by 5%" The store on Nimmo Pky in Virginia Beach refused to match or beat Wal-Marts price on a tire I purchased from them, I have doubts that the tire needed to be replaced, they said the nail hole was too close to the sidewall but let's say it was a valid diagnoses for now, Wal-Mart quoted me $143 and change and the store manager told me they could not match that price and I ended up paying $177 and change. Normally I would have went straight to wally world and let them have my business but that would have meant letting my son drive my truck another day so I decided to pony up the dough read more

We had been coming here to get new tires, as well as state inspections & oil changes etc. I had a problem with one of my tires losing pressure, so we dropped it off to get checked. I also requested a oil change. We ended up needing a new air filter and paid like $160. My husband and I took it in around 7:30am. He then went out of town on a business trip. When I went to go pick the car up I asked the person at the counter if it would be okay if I left one of the cars in their lot until I was able to come back and pick it up. (Since I was alone there was no way for me to get both cars home.) He said "No problem." I took the car they had worked on since it had our car seat & left the other vehicle in their lot. Five days later when my husband gets back, we go to get our car....It's GONE!!! THEY HAD IT TOWED. The guy apologized and said they had no idea it would be there for a week. He assumed it would be there for a day. They had no idea who's car it was. It was the manager's decision..blah blah blah. He had us call the manager, who basically said "tough sh*t" in not so many words. He said we would have to pay the towing company and he wasn't going to do anything about it. I am a reasonable person but that is ridiculous. Not only did I specifically ask permission, but if they had a "parking limit" they should have told me. It's not like they needed the parking spot, they had tons of them. So thanks to these guys our car maintenance ended up costing us almost $400. Half going to the tow truck guy. I wasn't expecting any problems but they told me I had three things that needed to be repaired at a cost of over $300. I got a bad feeling about it, so I told them to slap a rejected sticker on it and I took it to another shop. The new place passed my car with no problems. The new mechanic was also not surprised that Tread quarters tried to swindle me. I urge you to avoid these "chain stores" and look for a Mom and Pop shop that relies on word of mouth to get business.
