Called other auto shops in the area and was told that I would have to drop off my car for 1 to 2 days since all state inspection is first-come and first-serve and there was a wait. Decided to stop by Speedy since it was in the most convenient location for me, and if I had to wait or leave my car then so be it. Front desk service was friendly, was told it would take up to an hour so I decided to wait. Waiting area is small but clean with comfortable chairs and water. I brought my game console to keep myself occupied but they finished inspecting my car within 40 minutes and I was off on my merry way. Definitely will come back for future car inspections. read more

I have been a customer of speedy since 2019, but will not be returning. This company has apparently gone significantly downhill. I dropped my truck off for loud suspension noise. The suspension was inspected but "no issues were found", so they performed a lubrication on the suspension and sent me on my way. A week later, I took my truck back to Speedy for an inspection and it was noted that my suspension upper control arms were "worn and needed to be replaced". I asked why it wasn't caught before and was told that the first technician that inspected it "didn't know what he was doing, and would be trained. I was not given a refund for the lubrication, despite it being a needless service that wouldn't have been done if they had caught the problem the first time. I gave them another chance when I had engine squealing. They said it was the alternator, and that I could replace it. I had them replace it, and today, less than a month later, my truck died on the road and had to be towed. The dealership that it was towed to found the alternator to be bad, the drive pulley to be worn, and the belt to be frayed. All things that should have been caught by speedy the first time. They refused to refund the alternator because "the warranty is void" for another technician touching it, despite the truck not being drivable. I would think a reputable company would be able to refund a defective alternator in a situation like this. Take your business elsewhere, this shop is not what it used to be. read more

I just had the best experience! My daughter's car started acting up out of the blue and I wasn't able to get in with our regular mechanic till next week! I'm terrified of going someplace new and getting taken advantage of. Needless to say, I was assisted by Josh (on the phone), Cameron, and Alex. What great customer service! I was able to voice my concern and they had no problem getting everything taken care of. I have to say I was shocked that there wasn't a crazy list of "suggested and/or necessary" work. I'm happy to start my first review of 2020 with Speedy Auto Service. I absolutely hate bringing my car in for the yearly state inspection, worried about what the shop will nitpick over, or overly expensive extra work that needs to be performed. I didn't want to take it in to a dealership, so I did EXTENSIVE research on local shops in the area using Yelp, Google Reviews, Next Door app, and Facebook. Speedy's was one that frequently stood out as highly recommended. It was the last weekend of the month so I just knew I wouldn't have any luck bringing the car in. But I called that morning and spoke to Cameron, who happily said they could fit me in for the state inspection and oil change. Within just a few short hours, I got a call saying my car was ready. I needed a lightbulb replaced, and I hesitated because I know I could easily buy that myself and replace it for a few bucks. I asked out of curiosity how much they'd charge. It was pretty reasonable and they'd be saving me some time on top of that, so I agreed to have them do it. When I went to pick up my car, I showed Cameron my Yelp check-in offer so I was able to save a few bucks too. So I have been a customer for a couple of years, until today. AC in my truck stopped working about two weeks ago and I went to Speedy, since I bought the truck at CarMax and have repairpal. Spent about 5 hours while the charged system and told me I most likely had a leak. I was to drive and come back if ac stopped or return in a week. Well a week went by and I returned. They then told me condenser was bad and needed to be replaced. Last Friday I dropped of my truck and they replaced the condenser. Monday morning I'm driving to work and ac is not working. I went back and watched for 2 hours as the stood around the open hood of my truck. A mechanic then told me it was a computer problem and the machine they have for that is broken and they don't know when it will be fixed, but they would give me a call. I then took my truck to a Dodge dealership and lo and behold they had this magical machine and my compress is bad and needs to be replaced. So now did I waste two weeks having a part replaced that was not broken? Who knows cause the mechanics at Speedy don't seem to care about communicating with there customers. read more

I highly recommend Speedys; they do good work and have great service. The manager, Cameron, is very helpful, as well as the rest of the guys who work here. I had my timing belt and camshaft seal replaced here last week. So far, so good! I also brought my fiance's car here because it had what I thought was an oil leak. They lifted it up, saw it was a transmission leak, tightened something that was loose, and I was out of there in about 20min--no more leak! I plan to bring my car back this week or next for a couple new tires and will likely make this my new stop for oil changes. read more

I had my Toyota 2004 Highlander for a state inspection. When they completed the service withing 2 hours, was called the only thing I needed a tire plug to one of my tires. Prior to this Auto service I had gone to NTB for an oil change and they so-call found my car needed struts and suspension quoting me a price of $1271.00 which included the inspection and a fee for engine light on, but there was no such light on. It's obvious NTB was trying to scam me out of my money. I then googled BBB recommended and Triple A recommended auto shops in Virginia Beach and decided on Speedy because of their good reviews. Stay away. Their customer service is horrible. We tried to come in for a state inspection and walked out after rudely being spoken down to. We actually thought we would try this place a second time a month later thinking perhaps it was just a bad day. Same older gentleman behind the counter. Walked in to ask about an oil change and very quickly decided that we were never coming back to this establishment ever again. Rude, disrespectful, more expensive, and quoted three times as long. Stay away. Walked three doors over to the neighboring auto shop and was treated so much better, the simple work that we needed was done quickly and was cheaper. read more

We've been going to Speedy's for years to get our inspections, and any other car repairs. Rick was the reason that we kept going back. He was the go to person, and never tried to sell us something we didn't need, and most importantly we trusted him. We are saddened to hear of his passing. If I could give a rating less than one star I would. Took my son's car to get an estimate for a catalytic converter. As we walked in Cameron (Manager) stated that he could not give me a price until he saw the car. No problem. The car was taken into the bay. Cameron proceeded to take ALL of my information (name, address, phone number) and entered it into their computer. He then walked out of the office. The technician then inspected the car. 15 minutes later he appeared to be finished. He went and got a slice of pizza. 10 minutes later, I walk outside and stood behind my car still on the lift. Another 5 minutes pass. I ask the technician, "what am I am waiting on". He states that the manager (Cameron) is in the middle of something and will be right with me in the office. As I look over I see the manager (Cameron) eating. Ok, maybe it's breaktime. Another technician walks into the office and I'm told, "he'll take care of you", so I walk in the office. This technician is doing something on the computer. Maybe he is working on the estimate. To let him know that I am in fact inside, I clear my throat. No reaction. About this time I see Cameron (manager) stand up, wipe his mouth and grab a soda. He then proceeds out into the shop, holds a conversation and proceeds into the office. No words. He then walks past me a SECOND time, enters the bays area, seemingly walking aimlessly around and then back into the office. This is the THIRD time that he walks past me without even as much as a, "I'll be right with you in a moment". It was like I wasn't even there. At this point I ask for my son's vehicle to be taken off of the lift and I left. This whole ordeal lasted about an hour and 10 minutes. At no point did THE MAMAGER CAMERON even inquire as to if there was even an issue. Maybe the pizza was just that good. No worries, the approximately $1000.00 exhaust job will be done by one of their competitors. I guess that had already made enough money for the day. I don't expect to be catered to, but I will not be ignored. I believe in good customer service. read more

Came here because it was close to home and thought it would be cheaper than going to the dealership. I was quoted $4 more than what the dealer quoted but figured the other yelp reviews said that I'd get a discount if I checked in on yelp. It gives you a %15 off service coupon. I showed Alex and he refused to honor it, stating he was unaware yelp had permission to list said coupon and gave me a lousy 10% off parts only. I guess they pick and choose who they want to give the discount to, so I won't be returning or recommending this location. read more

I was referred by a co-worker to come here for repair on the intake pipe to my muffler. They didn't try to cheat me or upsale anything I didn't really need, Rick at the front desk treated me very kindly. I dropped my car off around 11am and it was ready at 2pm the same day, even though the shop was obviously busy.
