The reviews are true! I've been here twice and both times they've been so fast and friendly! The first time I had a flat from a tear that couldn't be patched and they had a new tire on within minutes and the price was much lower than expected. I came in again today after getting my oil changed elsewhere and being told I needed all new tires. They inspected my tires and were quite confused because my tires are apparently all in great shape. Tire Express came in super clutch when I realized I had a nail in my tire (totally not from all the CONSTRUCTION IN NORTH PARK!!!) and needed a replacement ASAP. I drive a car with 14" tires that are literally no longer being made and called around everywhere for a price estimate. 5 tire places, no luck, no help. Finally after a frustrating 30 minutes I called Tire Express and had Chuy find my tire and give me a flatout price with labor all within 3 minutes or so. I came over 10 minutes later and left another 5 minutes later. Super professional and quick change, solid price, and easily accessible. I was in search for two used tires because my front tires were technically bald. It was pretty bad.. and then it started to sprinkle and I got really paranoid and knew I just had to replace them. I work off of Miramar road and I assume that there are a lot of places with used tires and service etc.. Couldn't find a single place with two matching used tires.. all were singles. I yelped a different location because I knew I was going to be in North park of the weekend so called this place. They confirmed that they had two matching used tires for me size and I went down that day in the morning and they finished replacing my tires within 20 minutes! Awesome! They were really friendly and rotated my tires as well. This place is only missing one star because the facility is really tiny and they can do only one car at a time.. although they are fast.. you can imagine if you are the fourth car waitng. read more

But my sister recommended this place and so I took the chance, went over and they literally were up and ready to get by Bertha aka my car hooked up. He was able to change my tires quick and efficiently without any hassle. The way he conducted himself I had thought he was the owner. When he told me he wasn't I was shocked. The service was a lot more than perfect along with him sharing his story of his brother that was a Marine. Thank you Emilio for your patience in waiting for me to arrive at the shop and changing my tires at a late notice. I hope your boss is able to see how much of a dedicated mechanic you are and someday you're able to own a tire shop as your employees having the same drive you have. i'm from fresno and was freaking out when my tire blew last night. put on my spare and was even more worried that i have to make the 8 hour drive back today with a spare, on a holiday. a friend recommended this shop and i'd like to back her recommendation! they got me in/out in 15 minutes, gave a great deal for a used tire that is in new condition, disposed of my old tire for me, checked the air pressure in all tires to make sure i was evened out. i didn't catch his name but the guy (had a baseball cap with a headlamp light under the visor, haha so clever!) was so kind (as were the other men who worked on my car, i unfortunately don't speak spanish though). Now updating 8 years later of getting service here. These guys are fantastic. I got a flat while driving over the Coronado Bridge (!!) but thankfully made it home safe, AAA got a spare installed and drove to Tire Express after calling to confirm they had my size in stock. Arrived at 1pm and they wrapped up in about 30min with a full round of new tires (hadn't been here since COVID so my tires were lookin' pretty busted). Love these guys, excellent consistent customer service with no sales pressure or hassle. They let you make your own choices based on ur needs and budget without a sales pitch. I wasted $250 to these guys. Everything got worse because of them. They never solved the problems. I ended up getting LIFETIME TIRE BALANCING FROM FIRESTONE. I paid something like $77 and firestone resolved everything. (THEY EVEN DON'T DO STAR PATTERN AS WELL AS CHECKING THE TORQUE SPEC WHEN TIGHTENING YOUR LUG NUTS.) WORST TIRE SHOP EVER.(TIRE EXPRESS and JOEL TIRE) "Sketchy to the max and poor business practice " SUMMARY: JOEL's tire will rip you off by selling cheap ass JUNK parts for $$$$$$. Tire Express will rip you off everything. My assumption is they are connected each other and try to rip you off together. They don't know how to balance tire. Big tires need ROAD FORCE BALANCING which they can't do. Buy they will say you they can do balancing well. These guys and JOEL's tire which is across the street, they will literally rip you off. First of all, they charged me $100 for the tire balancing. Second, they charged me $3/each for the lug nuts. (WTF? $3 each?) The problem is they don;t know how to balance the tire. My steering wheel started to wobble like a hell I went back three times to get tire balanced, but it ended up they don;t have ability to balance tire.(265/70/17) So I wasted more than $150 to these guys. While getting service in this shop, there is one episode. Before they install my new rims, they did not tell me that these won't fit. Ohhh it's okay, they might miss. But the worst thing came on here, they recommended me to get spacer from the shop across the street(JOEL's TIRE). I paid $100 for the pair of spacer. The owner(Old white guy) at tire express said it was really good deal. After I failed all the rebalancing from this store, I started to research, the spacer was cheap ASS trash shit.(less than $50 online for 4 set, I got 2 for $100) The solution I came with: I got hub centric adapter, I installed them, still steering wheel wobbles. I went to firestone, they can do ROAD FORCE BALANCING for a little more than $70, lifetime service. I went to the JOEL's tire to get a refund of the JUNK spacer. They denied to take a return. I argued a lot and they refunded something like $20 only. I accepted. because it's better than throwing away them into the trash. I got advice from the FJC community and here are the screen shots. I got 60 comments and all them saying these part are JUNK. And I GOT RIPPED OFF. read more

I immediately got up after our phone call and headed down to tire express! They were so nice and such amazing prices. Chuy let me know it would probably be about 25 min to change out my back two tires but it felt like 15! I received such good used tires for an amazing price. I'm so satisfied with my service and experience. Being a female I am a little weary of being taken advantage of but Chuy and his guys give honesty and good work. There are some awesome deals to be had on used tires. Used tires cost a fraction of what mounted new tires would cost. The gamble is finding used tires that are in good shape. There are quite a few horror stories about buying used tires ranging from poor ride quality, uneven wear, unable to hold air, and in some cases complete tire failure which can cause an accident. I decided to take a gamle and placed my trust in Tire Express since I was a novice with no real experience judging used tires. This shop is rated very well on Yelp so I thought it would be a safe bet. I called ahead of time to check if my tire size was available, what is the estimated tire qualityc and the price. Unfortunately, the salesman cannot tell me what brand and model of tires are in stock. He just knew the size and quality off the bat. I drove on down to the shop which looks pretty dingy but I did not expect much in terms of looks. There were mountains of tires stacked throughout the lot. Tire size was written along the tread of the tires so it is easier to scan for tire size. Unfortunately it is impossible to see the brand and mode of the tire since the tires are stacked on top of each other and the info I need is written on the sidewall. It would not be hard to write the brand and tire model on the tread area as well so I am knocking off one star for this. I selected two tires based on the tread depth which looked like 70% left. The salesman quote me around 90 or 100 for two tires 225-65-17 installed which is a good deal. 2 new brand name tires with middle of the pack quality and of this size would cost about 350 installed. The mechanics took down the two tires I selected. The sidewalls were in good shape with no evidence of cracking. Both tires were different tires but they were both popular brands, Yokohama and Hankook. I have had tires from both these companies before and they did not disappoint. Unfortunately the model of the tires I got were not highly rated on tirerack. But oh wells I needed something to tie me over since 2 of my old tires were worn down to almost nothing and I have two tires on there with quite a bit of tread so I figured it would be a good idea to get two used tires and wait for all 4 to wear out at the same time and then proceed with getting 4 identical new tires. The mechanics installed my tires in about 45 minutes since there was about a 20 min wait for a car in front of me. This is not bad since I've frequently waited for 2 hours at the busier tire shops. 6 months and 10,000 miles later and my used tires are still riding along fine. Tread depth is still very good. Ride quality is fine. I have a crossover suv so I'm not driving it hard or drifting around corners so these tires are fine for regular or spirited driving. I have had no issues with the tires yet. read more

I called needing tires the gentleman named Tony that I spoke with that day was kind. I gave him all of the information and informed him of the specific tires needed. He quoted an amount and requested a deposit. I told him I would call the next day at 8am since it was later in the day already. When I called I spoke to someone else even though I requested Tony. He asked for the information again even though I already stated I spoke to someone. I told him the quote I received. He put me on hold but I could still hear him and called Tony over to him, they were discussing the price he quoted me yesterday. The guy got back on the phone and rude as hell. Told me the ones you were quoted are not available and they are actually more for what you want. I checked and they weren't. When I said okay never mind he just hung up the phone. Tony was sweet but the other guy was rude and sexist. I will never understand why some guys who work at shops like these think it's okay to take advantage of women. Needed a patch on a tire with an inconspicuous hole somewhere. Called and dude said I could come in immediately. Told him I had to go to another appointment so they serviced it really quickly. They did a thorough job that they found another hole on the tire. Now the patched up tire is the strongest out of all my tires. And best of all, it only cost $15. Service was awesome and very quick! But after I told the size of my tire 255/30/20 over the phone and showed up in person, I then received a 245/30/20 which makes the fronts now look noticeably uneven. I drove for a couple days and also noticed a very bad vibration that made the car almost unbearable to drive on the freeway. I then called to tell them my issue about the tire size difference and referred me to their manager that would be in the next day. Of course, i oblige and drop by the next day to get the issue fixed. I'm then told, 'i was told that the tire size wouldn't match up because he there was none in stock,' even though he went to get my correct tire size from somewhere local and still came up with the incorrect sizes. So here I am stuck with two front tires that look noticeably different from the rears(mind you I did not mind which brand the tires were as long as they were the correct size.) read more

They last over a year depending on your driving. I was ubering during part of that year. I have never had any bad experience and customer service is just fine. I have been meaning to write this review from the first time I visited this shop last year: Bob and his staff(in this case Emilio) El Cajon area: (University Ave)are the BEST kind of car guys: Honest, Hard-working, Very Caring! The first time I contacted Bob while looking for a tire place was for an old 99' Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo I had bought last year for 2k a few months prior. Those tires are enormous, and I expected to have to pay like $75 or more per, even used. Bob answered the phone and listened to my problem, I had one that had gone flat but knew that I needed to replace all 4 as they were over 6 years old. He assured me he could find some that size for $50 each. I went over and within an hour or so, had 4 good quality tires. Bob was caring, and conscientious, so when I sold that Jeep a couple of months ago, I needed one tire for the next jalopy I bought: a 93' Mercury Sable(hey, it's all I could afford, had only 73k on it), I accidentally hit a stanchion in a parking lot and sliced the tire open, I thought I would need 4 new tires anyway. The Roadside assistance I used(Good Sam, DON'T recommend them), could not get a tow truck to me before 5pm, though I called them at 3pm, Bob said he had a worker who lived near the shop and could maybe wait till 6pm, but the tow hadn't come yet. Emilio said he had to close the shop but if I called him when the tow guy arrived, he would come over and park my car in the shop. The tow guy didn't come till 7pm, but Emilio met us there and secured my car. I asked him if one or more of the other tires had to be changed, he thought maybe just one other one that I thought looked low but next day, he said it wasn't necessary. He could have easily talked me into replacing all of these old tires, or at least turning a $50(standard price) service into $100, but he was honest enough to say I didn't need it. These guys are the BEST! HONEST, EFFICIENT, PROFESSIONAL, CARING! What more could you want? Bob has 2 locations, either one has great staff. Over the weekend my steering wheel was doing that thing where it shakes violently and you have to grip it tight just to be able to drive straight. Not fun, super annoying, and wasn't sure if it was dangerous. I looked it up and it seemed like a common symptom for needing to get your tires balanced, so I found Tire Express on Yelp in my neighborhood. I drove my car in without an appointment and they were able to see me right away. The guys that work here are super chill and nice and transparent. I didn't grab his name, but the person who helped me examined my wheels and sympathetically said that even though I expected to get my tires balanced today, it looked like I had to get them replaced altogether and asked if it was okay. I honestly was just grateful they could replace them today and not have to order the tires and wait for them to ship, or send me to a dealership or anything like that. Sure enough I took a good look at my front tires and they were literally sunken in. Admittedly I accidentally went off-roading for 30 miles on my way to Utah over the holidays. Consequences of a good time. The entire process only took 20 minutes - I was in and out and they've got a great policy where if you get a nail/screw in your tire, they'll fix it for you if you bring your car in. Couldn't have imagined an easier experience. Felt so good to drive out of there smoothly, shake-free. read more
