Avoid Seemingly professional at first glance but then things went quickly down hill - all sales, no substance. I won't bore you with the details, but I would hire a neighborhood kid before these people. To make matters worse, they are also expensive and arrogant. Judging by the shill reviews you can read here and elsewhere, they are good at marketing and pumping up their online profile, just not the actual painting business. I wish I had checked them out a bit more as there are some very accurate negative reviews on other contractor review sites starting with an A. Jalapeno just repainted our master bedroom. The two gentlemen were skilled, quiet, and considerate. They also did well with our dogs an curious cat. One was a carpenter as well and he finished up some trim we needed. He did masterful work. They then allowed us to put the cost on a credit card which helped with our cash flow. I've gone in other directions before with two other companies and will not make that mistake again. Quality is worth so much that I don't think you can put a number on it except when mistakes happen. We used them this time to fix mistakes in our custom crafted home where the builders painter and drywall team made mistakes or didn't care about the finished product. Talk about PROS! This is no normal company! The owners are very involved and extremely professional! They are on time, communicate regularly and all about a positive experience. Most of all, they are not happy unless you are. This is an important factor for me, they actually care! This painting company did excellent work painting the interior of our home. They did outstanding wall repairs and their painting work was terrific. They were mindful of Covid safety by wearing masks the entire time and worked around my schedule and kids so we could remain in the house during the project. Just used Jalapeno for the second time. They personify what everyone hopes for in a Contractor... smart, responsive, quality work, collaborative, NICE people, willing to go the extra mile, and best of all fairly priced. I am a perfectionist so when my designer referred me to Jalapeno 8 years ago for a complicated and demanding renovation of our condo downtown, i said "Who...?!?" The entire project was done to perfection with an artistry and care exceeding the level of the other "best" trades working on the project - mill workers, stone, etc. And i can say that 8 years later it all still looks great! So we did not hesitate to contact them when we bought a second home- a 1940's house with a lot of wallpaper and needing a lot work. Jalapeno was able to remove all wallpaper, repair water damage, restore mill work, help with color selection and finishes, turn on a dime when changes were needed, save us money on not doing things that didn't need to be done, expand the scope when requested fitting us into a busy schedule, made 1940's skim coated Durarock look absolutely stunning, clean up each day leaving the work site orderly and usable, add a cedar closet, haul huge deliveries in for us that had nothing to do with them when asked, checked in with us regularly with questions about how to handle things that came up, remain professional, courteous and KIND throughout the process, follow up at stages of completion and weeks after to see if everything was satisfactory and charged a fair price. We most recently used Jalapeno to paint our entire first floor, two-story stairway, and upstairs hallway. The crew did an amazing job cleaning up the walls before painting, and it looks like a new house. The crew was professional and friendly, and very detail oriented and interested in getting the walls just right. The estimate was easy to schedule, and the project started and finished on time even though I chose to add some more work to the list once they had started. We just refinished our floors and Jalapeno took excellent care to keep them looking great. We have used them in the past to paint an office and a bathroom, and they did a great job on the smaller projects as well. From start to finish we had a GREAT experience with Bruce and his team. My husband and I have recently had a lot of work done on our house and a lot of crews come in and out. You can definitely tell the difference from good crews and bad crews. The estimate and proposal process was great - what we loved is Bruce also included a designer consultation for color selection and a carpenter for work needed. Once the job started, Gerardo (crew leader) and his team were nothing but great, professional, and clean. We have small kids too, and we are always nervous with crews working on the house - but I can assure anyone, the crew was incredibly nice, polite, clean & flexible. And another thing that goes unnoticed sometimes, they were on time, and worked the entire day every day, just like they said they would. What a way to write your first review. Do not use this company. We were scheduled to have an estimate (which took 2 weeks to get) and no one showed up. I called an hour before the appointment to confirm and was told by the operator that someone would call me back, no one did. This is unacceptable because I took time off of work to make this appointment. Whether or not this company does good work is irrelevant if they can't make appointments. read more
