My wedding dress is really just an short, high quality white dress, so I took it to my usual tailor to do some alterations. She ended up butchering the dress, so in a panic, I called Tita's Atelier. Tita took a look, but unfortunately it was going to be very hard to repair the damage, so I had to get a new dress. The timeline was tight because I was leaving for a destination wedding in a week, and Tita tried her best to work with the timeline. I ended up getting the replacement dress a day earlier than expected (thank you Alexia Maria!!), and the alternations took less time than expected due to the skillful hands of the wedding expert on staff. I was able to leave on time and with a perfectly tailored dress in hand. Beyond the quality tailoring, Tita and her staff were incredibly empathetic and understanding. I love that she opened a bigger store, there are 3 fitting rooms and a nice seating area inside if you are coming with a group of people. I am forever grateful to Tita's atelier for performing beautiful and seamless alterations on 2 wedding dresses within the span of a month when my original tailor did not work out. Apologies to them for the delay in posting this review! My ceremony dress was a ballgown with lace sleeves and a long train from Lazaro with intricate lace and crystal detail. I am petite at 4"11'. The dress needed the following alterations: 1. Length Shortened: Tita's lifted the dress from the waist versus cutting the bottom. This is the correct way to do this alteration, though is required more skill and is more time consuming, especially with the 9 layers of skirts. 2. Waist Lifted. The original dress had a natural waist which did not hit correctly for a petite frame. This was shortened to properly fit me, even with the delicate unlined lace back. 3. Sleeves Shortened: The fitted sleeves needed to be shorter. They were removed from the shoulder, cut, and sewn back to preserve the embroidery around the cuff. This made the opening for the upper arm slightly too narrow, so an underarm gusset was added with matching lace from material removed while shortening skirt. 4. Cups Added: Cups were sewn into the dress with proper placement and size to be supportive but completely concealed. 5. Bustle Added: Through 9 layers of skirts a strong yet seamless bustle was added that held up the entire day. The train was well preserved even with the shortening of the dress. The ladies at Tita's are experts at their work. They will work to understand your vision, and tell you what is possible. If you speak Spanish, even better. Pricing was very fair for such a big job. Our son's military uniforms needed to have new patches sewn on. If you have a loved one in the military, then you know how essential attention to detail is. There is no exception. I love Tita's and I will never go anywhere else for alterations! I needed this dress ready in a week and with the dress shortened/hemmed. I had two pairs of heels with me because I wasn't sure which pair I was going to wear for the event I asked Tita (that's actually her in the store and her family! ) if she could shorten it so both pairs of heels would still work. And she did. It's daunting going to these places by yourself but Tita and her beautiful studio are warm and non judgemental I also had a sundress where the hook was pulled off and she replaced it with a much sturdier snap. My daughter had her wedding dress altered here & they did a good job with some things. Unfortunately, on the day of the wedding, my daughter went to put on the dress & they had forgotten to hem the slip which sagged about 2 inches below the gown. There were brightly colored straight pins marking where they should have hemmed that could be seen through the gown. I called & was told that they were too focused on another aspect of the gown & must have forgotten to hem the slip. For the price, they should have remembered every detail. When I picked up my wedding dress from the boutique I bought it at, I was devastated. I was swimming in my dress and they "measured my body" before ordering the dress (See pictures). When I came to Tita, she assured me she would have it done before my wedding date. Tita and her staff did an amazing job. They had to remove the sleeves and worked so much magic on the rest of my dress. They brought it down so many sizes and made sure to communicate all the updates with me. I knew it was going to be a lot of work that needed to go into making sure the dress fit me. They are great at what they do and are very reasonable with their prices! I am so glad that this place exists. My partner and I hadn't really put too much though into our city hall shindig since our original wedding (which is still happening) was initially going to be our only event. Of course, with COVID and all, that had to be postponed, so we were really just waiting around when we realized - HEY, we can still just get that paperwork signed for tax purposes!! Luckily I had already started looking for my wedding shoes because we essentially go everything planned and done within about 2 months. We didn't even realize that we had to make so many appointments to get the license, get a time at City Hall (we went to SF!).. then our parents wanted to come so we made it a little event with just family.. it was a whirlwind but it all came together perfectly. Needless to say, I got a cool crepe romper that was kinda $$$. It needed some alterations so I needed someone who can have a quick turnaround (it was like 2.5 weeks out!) and knew how to handle this material, as I heard it can be tricky to work with. I messaged Tita's Atelier on Yelp, got a response really quickly, and stopped by that weekend. The staff were friendly and professional and knew exactly what to do, which was great because I just kind of vaguely gestured and said, "Look at this, please help, what do I do??" Luckily, the alterations needed weren't too complex so I was able to pick up my romper in one week! It felt so nicely. Also, I had searched typical alteration prices before coming here and Tita's prices are 100% reasonable. Five stars, if I could give more stars, I would. I needed three dresses altered, which I never wore because they never fit right. Thank you online shopping. Over time, the fit got worse. Each dress had it's own complicated problems. Tita's quotes were so reasonable. I've paid more for simple alterations. When I tried on each dress, they fit so perfectly. It's like the dresses were tailor made for me. My only regret is not taking "before" pictures. I'm taking ALL future alterations to Tita's. I moved out of the area. I'm still coming back Tita's.
