What an exceptional stop on route 6A in East Sandwich. Opened in 1969, they clearly have a full half century on the book trade here and they are so welcomed by all who enter. You usually have a great look at items on sale before you even walk in the front door and the store is so well kept that it almost feels like an honor to just be there. I had to pick up a couple of items on my recent trip and had an incredibly attentive employee there to help with my needs so completely, and business was busy when I was in there on a Saturday in May for this review. The Cape has lots of businesses like Titcomb's but few that will make you feel completely at home while you are there. These are spots we so desperately need these days. read more

I actually discovered this shop in a AAA newsletter of the "Best Bookshops in New England." As an author, of course I had to see it for myself, and we decided to stop when we were visiting my husband's family in Yarmouth. Now it's going to be a must stop every time we visit! This cozy shop is packed full of books and unique gifts. There was always something new to see. They offer 3 full floors of merchandise. The main floor features their YA and general fiction, upstairs had non-fiction, gifts, and used books, some of them first edition collectibles, and downstairs, you can find their children's and toys. I found something for everyone here: a book for myself, one for my dad, and some toys for my nieces and nephews. If you are in Cape Cod, this is a must for book fans of any kind. The atmosphere is warm and homely, which compliments the accommodating selection of books and toys for any age. The store has sections for many different genres, a toy/gift section downstairs for kids, and a multitude of rare books upstairs for collectors. I spent ages looking in the Horror/mystery sections, and when I came back a few days later and saw the upstairs section, it was like discovering the store all over again. Overall it is one of the most diverse book stores I've had the pleasure of shopping in, and I would highly recommend Titcomb's to anyone passing through 6A. It will be well worth your while and I guarantee you will find something that fascinates you. read more

Love small bookstores, and this one is so cute! It's in what looks like a converted house, and I spent so long in the non-fiction/poetry section, I didn't even realize there were multiple floors. They have cute little trinkets, locally made kind of souvenirs, and the employees were nice. They didn't seem to mind me sitting on the floor examining all the books I couldn't afford to buy at the moment. (We did, however, get a cute birthday card!) I would definitely come back if I were in the area again. For being a small store, they had some great titles! read more

Great small independent bookstore located on route 6A in Sandwich. A little hard to notice since the sign is small - it will be on your right when traveling East. Great selection of Young Adult/Teen reads. (Y'all know I don't read anything intellectually stimulating- except tax code). As well as tons of beach reads. And lots of local authors. I was driving on 6A and saw this bookstore on the side of the road and had to stop and buy something. It's small, but there's plenty to offer inside if you need something to read or leave the Cape with a gift. Staff is very friendly and helpful and keep the place in that perfect equilibrium where everything looks great but it's a little scattered like a good bookstore should be. Will definitely stop by again next time I'm on the Cape. read more

Buying rare books from a distance is always a risk - information is lacking, communication is spotty, etc. I sent Titcomb's a query about a book I'd had my eye on for awhile and received a response within a half hour. Not only was Adam incredibly prompt in his responses, but he was extremely friendly and willing to wiggle just a little on price. My book arrived in Chicago within two days just as described. I'm looking forward to popping by for a visit the next time I'm on the east coast! read more

We've been visiting this shop for over 30 years and its definitely one of our favorite places. The store is in the quaint town of Sandwich Ma. They carry an exceptional and diverse selection of wonderful books both old and new. Their selection of children's learning tools, games and puzzles is outstanding. They have books for all ages and interests. The staff is super helpful and pleasant. We live 50 miles away but it's worth the drive and we can make it a fun day trip since it's near the beaches and great places to eat as well. Go check it out! You won't be disappointed! read more

I love this bookstore! They have several floors of all different types of books, including a basement full of interesting stuff. We saw shelves and shelves of kitschy kids' books (similar to the Daring Book for Girls, but not ironic) and a beautiful old copy of Alice in Wonderland that I lusted over the entire time. They've got an amazing selection of old books, but they also have plenty of more contemporary books on all subjects. The salespeople were sweet and very helpful, but gave us plenty of space to browse on our own. We found great deals on used books of all kinds. If it hadn't been so nice outside, we could have spent all day sitting on the floor and reading. read more

I first visited Titcombs several years ago for a midnight book release party for a Harry Potter book. Now, I stop in every time I'm down the cape. Something about the woods and gardens around this shop, the pleasantly creaky floor boards on the stairs, and the personable staff make the books they sell that much better. This is the perfect bookstore to find a vacation read. They always have a table full of Cape-related reads and new releases. But, with three floors of stock, you will also find a great selection of antiques, classics, kids books, or whatever you have on your "to read" list. I really love this place. read more

A comfortable and quality small book store in East Sandwich. This was my second visit, and the knowledgeable staff was helpful both times. They have used books upstairs, including old copies of Life Magazine protected in plastic (fantastic!). Their inventory seems to move quickly due to popularity. Fabulous book, card and toy store. They have the latest best selling books and unique gifts for kids. If they don't have exactly what you want, they will order it. It will usually arrive in a couple of days! Staff is so helpful, but not intrusive. A great stop even if you are only in a browsing mood. read more

I love this bookstore, it had a lot of things to look at and I came out with something for myself, my boys and my niece who was with me. I brought my 9 year nerve as part of her birthday present to pick out a book for herself, we ended up with 2 after much negotiation because she had a stack of 5-8 that she initially wanted. What a pleasant experience, I want to go back... I went into the book store after walking through the beautiful gardens. I was looking for a specific book. The staff was really warm, friendly & helpful. I ended up with not only the book I went in to find but other treasures, including a bar of sage soap, two pair of earrings as well as a book they recommended when I told them I wanted something that would not let go of me. . I am currently living on the Coast of SC in Pawleys Island and love quaint places with personable people! The visit was fun, the earrings are my favorites & s the book- Still Alice, was heartwarming & real. I couldn't put it down. It has been read by three others I have shared it with & it is still being passed around. It is a book that touched my heart. It has been said that "people will forget what you did, forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them FEEL. Both the staff & Still Alice made an impression on my heart. Went to Titcomb's for the first time. It's a quaint small bookstore with gifts, beach themed toy items as well. The staff is kind, helpful and ample. There is a main floor and an upstairs with stairs. Many quality Cape Cod books and gifts. I gave it only 3 stars for there lack of variety of books. I came to get my summer read fiction books -- and found they do not carry anything I personally would enjoy reading. Hence, since it's the only bookstore within 25 miles of my summer house -- so a bit frustrating that I assumed it would carry a wider selection. If your a left leaning person this is the place for you. If you want children's or JFK/RK books this is a great place for you. read more

It is a quaint cozy Cape Cod book store that sells new and old books. The store also has many authors that visit and sign their books. The only negative thing is the pricing, however it is worth the money and it is a solo owned store. It's a must-see on Route 6A on the Cape! read more
