Due to a condition (living in Tennessee), I'm only able to have the chicken Parmesan sandwich here about once a year. It's a sandwich I reminisce about with my family and work into conversations with friends and strangers alike. The bread is fresh and chewy, the sauce bright and acidic, and the chicken lightly breaded, perfectly fried, and tender. You can taste each ingredient in every bite. Every element is perfectly executed in its own right, yet somehow made even better in harmony. Recently while devouring my third of the massive sandwich, a little chicken cutlet tumbled to the ground. I'm talking: the GROUND. Outside. Pavement. The bakery is cash only and sells a variety of breads: baguettes, ciabatta, sourdough, & olive bread. In addition to the sfogliatelle, they sell muffins, croissants, and focaccia and muffins. The sfogliatelle was pretty good, the pastry was crispy and flaky and the lemon ricotta filling was very rich and creamy. I would've loved to have a couple loaves of the bread, but there was no way I was going to be able to bring it home as I was already maxed out with my carry ons!

Some you can get dried some fresh. They also have quite a few varieties of sauces, many varieties of ravioli, stuffed shells (which I buy and store in the freezer for those nights I don't want to cook). I throw them in a casserole with some sauce and mozzarella cheese and dinners ready in no time. You can also buy their pasta and sauces at your favorite market. Their website shows what markets sell their pasta. This is a family run business so quality of their product never varies. They have been making pasta since 1947. Their pasta has the perfect chew when eating. After you eat their pasta you will never buy that store brand again!

I've actually been meaning to try the much heralded DalMoros in Delray Beach, which is about a 20-minute drive from our (other) condo down in Florida. But I haven't gotten there yet, and then I find out they've expanded from Florida to Boston! Now it's a 5-minute walk for me when we're in town! I stopped in the other night and loaded up with three boxes: Amatriciana, Cacio e Pepe, and Mamma Rosa. A good mix of red sauce, white cream and tomato cream. I threw in a Tiramisu as well. First impressions: 1) plenty of pasta - the boxes are big. I could get two full meals out of each one. 2) the past is hot - comes out piping hot, plus the boxes are thick and lined, so even after the walk home, the pasta was at ideal temperature 3) sauces are true to expectations, meaning you won't be surprised. That said, this is quick service, not a sit-down restaurant. The sauces are not as exquisite as you'll get at the better Italian restaurants in town. The Amatriciana could be spicier, the cacio e pepe cheesier, and the tomato cream...well, a bit creamier. But I enjoyed all of them. And for $15 a box, I think it's a good deal. Now about that tiramisu. Just a nice classic preparation and a great topper to my little feast. I'd grab one. Overall, it's not a substitute for the North End or spots like Sorellina and Mida. But a great option for takeout or to enjoy if you're near Faneuil Hall. Anyway, three down, five to go. I'll think I'll do the bolognese and pesto next time.
