I picked up lunch today at Mediterranean Grill, which has a deli-style counter with sandwiches prepared to order and a display of ready-to-go pizza slices with assorted toppings. It's a big menu. My eye landed on the grilled honey turkey sandwich and it was ready quickly, wrapped in foil. I got a soda from their cooler and a bag of chips to go with it. Back at the apartment, I unwrapped a still warm sandwich. Plenty of turkey on the grilled rye with a nice layer of melted cheese. Very tasty! I'd choose them for lunch again. I love this place! I come in once or twice a week for their breakfast sandwich, and oh man, is it as good as it gets. Large coffee and a freshly-made sausage egg and cheese on an English muffin comes to just over $5. McDonald's prices, but they crack an *actual egg* in order to make it! The breakfast sandwiches are absolutely delicious. I was hooked when I had my first one. It's not like I go in every day or anything, but they still know my order and start making it as soon as I walk in. Actually, they started doing this after I showed up just a few times in as many weeks. Seriously, in theory, I can walk in there, not say a single thing to anyone, and leave with freshly cooked goodness. Granted, they're super friendly, so I do say "Hello!" "How are you?" Whenever my office orders sandwiches here, I put chips in them to make them taste better. The sesame-specked bread is decent, but the fillings just aren't good enough to bother with, especially not for over $7. Especially bad is the Italian. Why can no one in the Financial District make a respectable Italian sub? It's always a few limpid cold cuts and cheese slices, preassembled between sheets of wax paper, hastily thrown in the bread and squirted with a supermarket bottle-quality vinaigrette. A little pricier than your normal workweek lunch but I would say it's worth it. I have had the portabello mushroom sub and the vegetarian sub and both were delicious. Really large and packed full of flavor. People must agree with me because they do good business. One thing I wonder though, the same girl who works at Al's works here. This is the place to go for breakfast sandwiches in the financial district. It is normal quiet in the morning so if you haven't been in there before try it out then. Most of the time it is a mad house at lunch, because the place is small and there aren't really any lines to follow. it is kind of a free for all. You have to know what counter to go to for what type of food you are ordering and then pay at the register. Then listen for your food to come out. it can be very intimidating. Also they have to go cheese burgers and fries. It is listed as a club sandwich which made it hard for me to find. read more

For the prices the Mediterranean Grill charges for sandwiches and salads ($6.99 and up), the food better be damn good. It's not damn good, it's mediocre. There are worse meals to be had in the Financial District than the chicken avocado salad, and the staff is nice as well. Mediocre food and decent service don't justify the high prices though, especially when Casa Razdora and Al's State Street Subs will give you so much more freshness and flavor for less, and food trucks are multiplying by the week with delicious meals under $7 Mediterranean Grill can't expect to charge premium prices for food that is merely better than Subway. Love this place. I try to make it every friday and any other days of the week that I have the time. Its a lunch hot-spot for people in the Financial District. I work on State and its about a 5 min walk. First off, the quality of the food is very good. My standby fave's are The chicken parm sub, or the 'Boston Delight' which is Roast beef, turkey, prov, lettuce, tomato, bacon and mayo. Im not sure if they bake their own bread but its fresh, chewy and good. Aside from the food, my favorite aspect of this place is the location and customer base. Its small, has a few tables, but theyre rarely used. Its all business people from the area, very very rarely touristy types. Its the type of place where you have to speak up and be a little agressive to get what you want if you go during the lunch rush peaks. The numerous guys behind the sandwich counter will just yell out "whos next!" and you have to be the one to step up and shout out your order. I like that, it just feels urban/local to me. In case this worries you, if you consider yourself timid or shy, that wont be an issue, youll still get service. They're quick and I have never had a bad sandwich. Prices are around $7.50 after tax for most subs which is good for the area and considering the quality, well worth the price, especially when compared to subway or quiznos. They have pizzas by the slice as well as prepared salads and things like that if thats more your style. I really suggest the Boston Delight though, fresh, thin sliced, high quality deli meats/cheeses...yum. I'm eating my chicken parm sub right now btw...its cold and rainy out so it was a good choice I think! read more

Mediterranean Grill in the Financial district in Boston is another good sandwich shop in the area. I went there for a late 5PM sandwich. Of course, at that time, it was one of the few sandwich places open, besides subway. At that time, they had a choice of Pizza and cold sandwiches. I choose the latter and went with a Chicken Kabab sandwich. The server was friendly and soon I was enjoying my sandwich which had a little too much cheese but I liked it. One of my favorite lunch places in the area. Excellent buffalo mozzarella and beefsteak tomato salad, very good & juicy grilled chicken (added to the salad it's delish). Steak kabob wrap is one of my faves. They also have pretty good pizza by the slice. The place is chaotic at lunchtime, so I do have to be in the mood to deal with the people bumping into you everywhere you turn. This place is defintiely one of my faves in the area. Yes, a bit pricey, but worth it. I go there at least once a week and have always gotten the turkey club with a side order of fries (delicious cajun fries that melt in your mouth). The sandwiches are big so I usually only eat half and all of my fries during my lunch and save the other half for a late afternoon snack =) The service tries to go as fast a possible but there is usually a longer wait than I would like. It does get crowded during the lunch hour but probably because everyone understands how delicious their food really is. So two things first off - this place is not Subway and you will not pay Subway prices. Its definitely pricey for a pizza/sub shop. Second - the set up inside can be a bit confusing as far as where to order and the menu and the staff can be a wee bit impatient with slowpokes. That being said.... The food here is fantastic! The portions are extremely generous, the food is really fresh and delicious and there is a really great and varied menu. My personal favorite is the tomato salad - is $7 a lot to spend for a salad? Bet your arse it is.. Is it worth it? Bet your arse it is! Fresh, huge, thick tomato slices, roasted veggies, fresh mozzarella, fresh basil with a balsamic vinaigrette - it is soooo incredibly yummy I will happily splurge for the $7. The pizza is also really tasty and a slice is perfectly filling for lunch. While Mediterranean Grill is not cheap - you get what you pay for here (and sometimes enough for dinner later!) and it is totally worth the splurge! read more

As part of our rotating "Breakfast Friday" club in the office, every so often, someone will bring in breakfast pizza from Med Grill on their given day. It's a typical pizza crust, with a thin layer of scrambled eggs, topped with breakfast sausage or bacon and cheese. It sounds a little crazy, but it's really delicious. We've also ordered their regular pizza for office events, and it is nothing to write home about, but it's serviceable. Until today, that's been my only experience with Med Grill and I'd never actually stepped foot into the restaurant. Today, I really wanted a buffalo chicken wrap, and asked some coworkers where to get one. Med Grill was the consensus. It was busy at lunch but there were clear signs on where to get in line depending on what you were ordering. I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap with extra blue cheese, grabbed a drink and within a minute or two my wrap was ready. The total was about $11, which is kind of high but typical for the area. When I opened the wrapper, it was open on one end and wrapped in foil. I thought for sure it would fall apart, but surprisingly it didn't. The chicken was still crispy, buffalo sauce spicy and the addition of lettuce and tomato was good. I'm glad I asked for extra blue cheese because it was the perfect amount. Overall, it was decent buffalo wrap - I'd order it again. The menu is expansive, so I'd probably return to try something else, but I also might forget this place exists...If I could give half stars, Med Grill would be a 3.5; rounding down because it's definitely not a 4-star kind of place in my book. read more

I usually only go with either the steak tip sub or the mozzarella avocado salad so I can't say much about the rest of their very extensive menu. Their steak tip sub is amazing! It's the perfect amount of cheese, steak, BBQ sauce, lettuce and tomatoes. Their mozzarella avocado salad is equally amazing. Huge slices of fresh mozzarella and half an avocado sit on a bed of lettuce and is served with balsamic vinaigrette that compliments it perfectly. If you go during normal lunch hours be ready to place your order the moment you set foot in the door and be wary that if you want some modifications to the norm (ie. Swiss instead of American) they may not be too happy but will usually comply. Still totally worth it! read more

This is my favorite place to get lunch in the financial district. You will on average pay about $7.50 for a sub or wrap and about $8.50 for a salad that comes with chicken, which is a little more than what you will see at most places similar to this (food prepared quickly by a line of cooks, pay, and leave). That having been said, the portions here are significantly larger than you will get at any other place around and the food is delicious. Unlike places like Au Bon Pain, Panera, and Subway, the Med Grill packs wraps full of meat and veggies, rather than just giving you two slices of meat and piles of lettuce. I eat a lot during the day and this is the only place around that I can be filled up from one item. read more

Had my first experience here yesterday. Huge lunch selection, subs, wraps, salads, pizza, and it all looked awesome. My BLT with pickles and onions was perfectly toasted on a sesame seed roll...and huge/packed with B,L, and T goodness. I got through half. But who can complain about 2 meals for $6.99? Not this kid! My boss frequently gets their salads which look great and if I was one to enjoy feta and kalamata olives I would totally try it, but I'm not so I won't...but it still looks great! Service was fast and organized at the busy Financial District Suits lunch hour. Seating is limited, just 3 high top tables with 4 chairs each but it seemed like most people were carrying out anyway so it wasn't a huge struggle for seating. Also, their chocolate chip(chunk) cookies were excellent! Might have to kick this up to 5 stars after a few more test runs...we shall see. read more

My co-workers and I love The Med. Their pizza slices are huge and I really go for the Hawaiian slices. One guy loves their chicken Caesar salads, although I've never had one. The chicken cordon blue wrap is also large, I shouldn't the whole thing but I do! We also like their breakfast sandwiches. They are not so big, but very inexpensive. Never again. I went in today and ordered a chicken cutlet sub with cheese. Clearly, they grabbed some old chicken that was just hanging around because #1, it was ICE cold, and #2, the chicken was stringy and chewy. Who serves a chicken cutlet sub cold with cheese that isn't melted? It seriously sucked and I couldn't even eat it. Don't turn away when you see a giant shoe repair shop sign at this address, as this joint shares the building with them. One cool feature that I liked was that right as you walk in, you'll notice that they have samples of their most popular items on the counter so you can see exactly what you're going to get when you order. My coworker and I both ordered the beef gyro based off of how good it looked. The flow here is a little confusing as you stand in one line to order, then go to another line to pay, then go back to where you ordered to pick up your food, but you should'nt have too much trouble. The beef gyro was really really good and I highly recommend it. Not many places are worthy of a 15 minutes walk, but this is definitely one of them. read more

Okay I've been here twice and the first time i had buffalo mozzarella sub and it was really good and thick. So i was encouraged to go in again and this time i got the chicken kabob over greek salad. They were very skimpy in their salad and it looks like they rushed to make it. Only had two little onions and threw the pita bread in the bag and did not wrap it, how unsanitary. I've been to the Mediterranean Grille a few times now, mostly because it is so close to my work. Overall they are your average pizza/sub shop and probably do good business because of all of the foot traffic in the financial district. They have good homemade breakfast sandwiches, on Thursdays and sometimes Fridays they have a pretty tasty buffalo chicken sandwich. While it is good I don't think my stomach can handle the grease from this place, not to say it's bad. I will go back but only in moderation or when the brutal New England winters force me to. read more

I love the Med for it's boar's head cold cuts, but stay away from the Calzones,a nd some of the contrived americanized pizzas.. The Booston Delight and the grilled pastrami sandwhiches are AWESOME, but becareful what you order as some of the menu selections are hit or miss. ohhhh the pizza. it is soooo good...i went through a period of eating it at least once a week, until my pants didnt fit. then i stopped. but it is really really good -- they always have around 7 different types of pizza, with at least 3 or so being vegetarian. the mediterranean pizza with spinach, feta and olives is great, as is the basic margarita with tomato and basil. before i went veggie i used to get the barbeque chicken pizza, which is amazing. they heat it up in the oven for you until it's toasty and delicious! i also really like the avocado salad -- half an avocado on greens with mushrooms, peppers, tomatoes, and mozarella cheese, which comes with garlic bread, really yummy. the prices are totally reasonable, too. i just wish they had small side salads -- sometimes a coworker and i will each get a piece of pizza and split a salad, but sometimes i want to do it on my own! i havent tried the sandwiches, but ive heard great things about the eggplant parm and how it isnt fried. ill have to give it a try sometime! read more
