Call of Duty X-Box birthday present. amazing!!!!
    Simone S.

I love old theaters, I love theaters with character, I love theaters with charm and theaters with kick ass managers! Tivoli has all of that plus more. This review is for a service that the Tivoli provided for me. I was on a mission to find a theater in St. Louis that would let me rent out a screen and be able to play x-box. This was going to be a birthday present for my bf and for his friends. I contacted every theater, sent out emails to everyone in town and still I was not able to find a theater that could accommodate my request. Just as I was about to call it a day at work, I check my email and there is a reply from the Tivoli. I almost died when I read it. They just had new digital equipment put in which would also allow gaming so I was in luck. They will allow me to bring in my x-box, start playing from midnight until whenever and the price does not break my bank! Alan the manager who helped me with all of this was amazing to work with. He was really cool about everything and was also excited about the idea. They have never tried this out with an x-box before and being the gamer that he is, wanted this to work out just as much as I did. We went in for a test run yesterday and (HALLELUJAH song cue here) It worked! It appeared on the screen and there was sound and the wireless controllers worked. My bf is seriously the happiest guy alive right now, and I am the happiest gf ever thanks to Alan and the Tivoli for coming through with my bf's birthday present.

Landmark theater with modest looks but cozy atmosphere. Seats are comfortable, prices for food and tickets are decent. It is rarely packed. The best part about this theater is its movie selection. Although, some of these movies are internationally recognized and awarded, you won't be able to find these in mainstream American theaters. When I saw the first "creative" movie there, my initial reaction was "this pedestrian plot was certainly not worth my time and money. However, I gave it a chance and was able to enjoy several great movies. The last one was "Wild Tales" - Six short revenge stories involving distressed people. Conveniently located in the loop area. Beer, Wine, organic tea, and appetizers available at their concession stand.

The Tivoli Theater is absolutely beautiful in its old-fashionedness. The interior of the theater's lobby is covered with old movie posters and other movie memorabilia. There's even a pay phone! I had almost thought those were extinct. A little past the lobby is a small concession stand where you can get snacks for about the same prices as other movie theaters. The popcorn, however, is different from most movie theater popcorn. It doesn't have that saturated-with-butter taste that you normally get. At first I didn't really like it, but as I ate more of it it started to grow on me. I saw a movie in the main theater, theater 1. It was huuuge. And very pretty. The theater looked more like it was the theater for an opera than a movie. There were beautiful designs etched everywhere and the chairs were upholstered with red fabric. They were also very comfortable. The only real negative I saw was that they didn't have much in the way of ticket discounts. So be prepared to pay the full ticket price unless you're a senior or are going to the very first show of the day. Other than that, though, I would definitely recommend this theater to anyone who's looking for a movie experience that's a little out of the ordinary.

I favor indie flicks, my husband likes the big blockbuster, Michael bay crap that's all action, little substance. We compromise by alternate watching indie & action. When it's my choice, we come to Tivoli (cause Frontenac is just too damn far away) so I can get my Wes Anderson fix. I love the interior, they've kept true to their roots in that it still looks & feels like a theater from eons ago.The seats aren't the most comfortable, you kind of sink in to them which is a problem if you're short & have a taller person sitting in front of you. On the bright side, they offer Ted Drewes ice cream at the concession!

As a first timer coming here, it was tricky to find while driving through the parking garage. Once getting there I loved everything about my movie experience. They offer a mixture of new movies as well as cult classics. I love that you can order food and drinks while in their reclining lounge chairs and they bring it to you. There are a few things that I noticed can be difficult for those with a disability especially if you don't have a wheelchair. There didn't seem to be any handicap parking near the entrance which made walking to the theater a problem, especially since my mom has a disability. Also, once inside the theater, the main row is kinda awkward to get into the seat when having to use a walker since you have to climb a step to get into the seat. I enjoyed my experience, but I can see how someone with a disability would have a difficult time with accessibility.

The seats were comfortable and roomy, and the movie was really great, but we wish it was longer. The only issue was getting back down in the the accessible elevator. It was full of people with strollers and no one would make room to get my Dad in his scooter on, so we stood there for 20 minutes while elevators opened and closed in front of us until there was one empty enough to get inside. People should be more mindful... if there are eight people in an elevator and only one is pushing a stroller, the other seven people really should get off the elevator and take the stairs if they are physically able to make room for someone in a scooter or wheelchair. It was ridiculous. It was a hot day and the science center was jampacked. It was like the hunger games. LOL!

Due to this the seats didn't lean back, so they were not as comfortable as the ones further down. Also we could feel all the vibrations of the sound, which honestly I enjoyed!!! I would love to go back again and see one of the movies that are specifically made for the omnimax screen!

The BEST is the Webster Film Series. Incredibly thoughtful mix of new international and independent films and retrospective programming. On a practical note, there is a half circle of parking spaces right in front of the hall, and I've never had trouble finding a spot.
