My only complaint about the seats is the recliner works oddly. It's sort of all or nothing which I'd prefer to have my legs up and not lie down. I'd skip pretzels, mine were cold and lacked any flavor. For the more outdated theatre the prices are high, almost $20 for a movie here which is more than the prices at the brand new theatre in St. Louis so In my opinion, it's too high. The seats are cushy comfortable with foot rest that you can control. They also have a small snack table with a cup holder attached to each chair. Having this table makes it so much easier to enjoy the movie. Trying to hold on to your popcorn and soda, while watching a movie is always a challenge. The screen is a good size for boutique sized theaters. The sound is also adjusted to a good volume. It's not overly load or to soft that you cannot hear each and every line. Concessions are expensive like any movie house. Soda and popcorn are self-serve. They give you a soda glass and an empty popcorn tub and you fill it yourself. If you like buttery popcorn, you're in control of how much you add to your tub. Bonus, they have a small bar that serves, beer, wine and a variety of canned seltzer's. NCG is the only movie house in Alton. Even if it weren't, I'd still be back. The staff is friendly and the theatre itself is one of the cleanest movie houses I have visited.

The Back Lot is new and has comfortable seats, though not recliners. They show more artsy, indie films back there, or movies that have outlived the necessity for the larger seating capacity, and it's cozy. I think it seats 45 people or so. The only drawback to the theater is the bathroom location for the main theater. It's upstairs up a large flight of stairs with narrow steps. My mom hates going up the stairs, even after the film when there's time to navigate the steps. It's definitely a better/quicker trek than the bathrooms at Plaza Frontenac theaters but difficult for people with limited mobility.

It's an older facility but it also feels like you're stepping back in time to appreciate a newly released movie at a drive in just like it used to be back in the 70-80s. Needless to say we had a really fun and great time and loved the fact that it was family friendly.
