It's fun to shop here! Lots of seasonal items. Home decor, makeup, skin care, and clothing. I enjoy coming here and looking around.

I am not a fan of Ross stores. However, their Halloween decor is already hitting shelves, and I…read morehave been hitting up all the local Ross stores in the area looking for a few specific Halloween decor items. This Ross did not have the specific items I was looking for, however, they did have lots of seasonal decor. This Ross was also pretty clean and organized compared to some of the other Ross stores I have been in lately. This Ross also seemed to have a ton of product available. This was honestly the best Ross I've ever been inside. I'll probably stop in again when I am in the area to look for seasonal items.

Historically, I love Ross. I don't know if it's just this store or the whole national chain - but I…read morejust had a miserable experience. The cashiers seemed helpful enough, so I don't particularly want to say anything bad about them if they truly have no authority to by-pass bad policies. If powerless, then they are just as I am with only an ability to express an opinion to the wind. No shade at all on the good people just trying to do their job under bad policies. If they did have authority to help, but didn't, then they do own some responsibility. It's so upsetting when a store deliberately has the people who have no authority interact with the people. It leaves the employees with no authority to successfully manage a really bad, low-class return policy which is what triggered my bad experience. Since I didn't have a receipt on me, but my item still had the store tag attached, I expected a store credit for my return which was fine because I had new items in my cart (about $100) and was intending to apply the credit to the new items. However, they informed me that the item had been discounted from $16-ish to about $11-ish within the last 30 days and could only reimburse store credit at the lesser amount. I was flabbergasted and asked for a manager who asked for other managers but all them responded with pleasant (not believable) apologies and some form of: "Too bad for you, that's store policy". Which is always not helpful in customer service situations. I looked at them and tried to apply logic which is also not helpful in stores with bad policies. "Really? For $5-ish dollars you are going to lose out on a cartful of purchases and a lifelong customer?" They responded with: "It's store policy". I wasted everyone's time by explaining that this is unethical behavior on the store's part because they intentionally discount after 30 days and at the same time don't honor store tags after 30 days. Nobody cared. In the end, I got my $11 on store credit for a store I no longer wanted to patron. I took out 2 items from the cart that were closest to the $11 which ended up being around $16. The amount I was supposed to have been reimbursed. So I paid the extra $5 difference which should have been reimbursed, not charged, just to not waste the $11 store credit. Now that I have items with a receipt, perhaps I should return the items for cash. This way I can get the $11 cash they wouldn't give me today. I'll look at them and say, "it's policy". Hehe. The people in charge of the policy and the bad customer experience don't care and won't ever be held accountable. (I'm not looking for suffering just someone to take responsibility!). The good people at the counter had to listen to an upset customer that never should have been upset and might even be 'corrected' and 'advised' when it's the policy makers that need a review. But nothing will likely happen anywhere and I had to hand over my driver's license to receive an $11 credit so now a bunch of strangers who had to listen to my bad customer service rant have my personal information. I left feeling so miserable, fearful and despondent. In hindsight, I wish I had taken back my item to return on different day with different people - now that I fully understood my losses. What an unnecessary miserable experience over $5. :-( I would like to know if this is nationwide or a local issue, but otherwise, I don't want to spend anymore energy or money on Ross. I'll be looking for other places to buy cheap, garbage clothing. With in-person return policies this bad, I may as well take my chances with places like Shein. I walked away thinking, maybe we should all start sewing again instead of dealing with all these low-class clothing stores, their bad policies and their intentionally powerless service personnel... LOL. Hopefully, my bad experience will save you from similar.
