I occasionally give up on TJ Maxx, and their clothing selection lately has been kind of lackluster. I did manage to find a great pair of fleece lined leggings earlier in the season, but I haven't really come up with any seasonal clothes there lately. I did get a lot more practical and have been finding some wonderful cosmetics fines in the new expanded cosmetics department. Their housewares department is also expanded for Christmas with lots of trendy, new appliances and gift worthy kitchen goods. We were also able to snag a toy model of a Tesla truck. This was a real find since most of the other discount stores don't have many children's toys and toys have gone up in price this year. It's going to be a fun holiday season and going to TJ Maxx and getting good deals. Just makes it all the more fun. read more

I have stop by this TJ Maxx location a couple of times when I've been visiting from out of town. It's located right next to the Whole Foods here on Los Osos Valley Road. Overall, it's a fairly large store compared to some of the other stores I've been to. Everything is organized and well merchandised. Like all TJ Maxx locations, you'll never know what you'll end up finding on the racks. Great value items can be found here and it's all about the timing. Sometimes you'll end up with a lot of great finds. You can find a lot of different things from clothing, to toys, and to luggage. There is quite an extensive luggage selection here at the store. The team is friendly and there is an anything negative to report. They are usually very friendly. There are tons of parking spots nearby so that shouldn't be an issue. read more

Stopped by here on my way home from Pismo. They had a wide variety of items and designers that you don't see often at other locations. I even had a chance to find some good selections for future gifts for my friends. They were affordable gifts and did not hurt my wallet. Same ol Same ol. After standing in a long line with 2 registers open, at 2:45 ON 9/16/25 I arrived at the register to return some items. When I turned around the line was backed out into the store! I told the sales gal that they need to call more cashiers, the line was longer than at Christmas. I noticed an employee goofing around and pushing carts out the door from inside the store and after looking right at the line she walked away. The cashier again called for back up and guess who showed up? Cart girl, Carla G. who appears to be a coordinator! Of what? Carla G, Coordinator could care less about her job or the people who were in line. She knew she was caught, on register 5, because many people were making comments about her lack of performance. What is wrong with TJ Maxx hiring practices at this store? I feel like I am walking into the DMV when I go through the register lines there but the DMV is much more improved!!! Where are the COORDINATORS THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO BE CREATING A SMOOTH EXPERIENCE FOR THE CUSTOMER AT THE REGISTERS? Does the manager have broken fingers or do they know how to use a register? I ended up contacting TJ Max headquarters to get compensated for having wasted 3 hours arguing over a receipt which the so called floor manager flat-out refused to return my cash for a product I wanted to return, telling me.."This receipt is from yesterday." I shop at this Tjmax every time I come to visit my family, I love the experience I always get from the managers Darlene and Maria. From the moment I walk in til the moment I check out I see these two ladies giving the best experience to each and every customer. This past week I shopped here and as I expected these two managers were engaging and delegating to their team members and customers I had the unfortunate of being helped by a not so seasoned manager by the name Amaya, she was very nice and helpful but hearing a manager gossip about fellow team members is disappointing and unfortunate. No long time customer or new customer wants that type of experience, especially coming from a manager. Had I not lost my receipt I would have done this evaluation of my experience on their website. Amaya customers don't appreciate experience's like this and you're part of a great management team. Beware , don't buy the box jewelry unless you open it up and inspect it. I bought a chain with a cross on Tuesday evening after work then worked all week 8-1130pm so on Saturday I opened the box and the chain was broken so when I went to return it right away they said no they can't return or exchange. They said maybe if it was brought back the next day they might have exchanged it . I just rather not go back to that store if I can't trust that policy . If it even is a policy. read more

"CAN I SPEAK TO YOUR MANAGER????" (I hate to be that person but I ALMOST was that person.) Friday, Sept.16th around 145pm/2pm the store got a power outage. All customer had to leave immediately and those who had items in their cart, were not able to check out ANYTHING, but the workers took people's names and added it to each cart SO THEY COULD COME BACK AND PAY FOR IT WHEN THE POWER CAME ON. (**I repeat--- could come BACK to BUY their items when POWER CAME BACK.) I live 20 min from this locations and already I'm confused because they didn't take a phone number so when would I in know when the power would come on?? I would have to drive another 20-25 min and just HOPE it's back on?? Later that evening, I called the store around 415pm and spoke with Jessica (I think that was her name...) and I asked "for those who were shopping earlier and had their cart LABLED BY NAME-- if we had to be back by a certain time of the night or day before they would put items back on the shelves..." she responded: "you are totally fine and you can come by the end of the night before we close (930pm) or you can come the next day.." PERFECT! "I'll be there this evening before close." I arrive at the location at 745pm and tell the 2 employees that I was here earlier when the power went out. I'm here to pay for my items under the name "Lauren." Right away - they look at each other and me with a blank stare and look nervous. They walk away to talk and already I KNOW I'm screwed and they put all my shit back on the shelves......... I watch them as they are trying to figure out what to tell me and don't communicate well at all. So I STEPPED UP and told them I called earlier and spoke with an employee that they would have my stuff even by the next day/night. I was told: "normally we would leave the items in the carts...but our manager told us to put everything back on the shelves." If y'all have ever been in a tjmaxx.....it's not very well organized - everything is scattered.....I was livid. I had picked out multiple items for my little Nieces birthday and had to go through all the isles trying to remember what I had wanted earlier. Overall, VERY disappointed in the manager (whoever you are) for not sticking to your word about taking customers names and sticking to the rule of purchasing the items until the next day. Terrible customer service in accessory and handbags department. I called in advance before making a trip from Santa Barbara to this location mind you it is 1-2 hours away. They said they can't check to see if they have juicy couture purses over the phone , that I have to come in. All the other TJmaxxs I have ever called do not mind checking ,however, this lady seemed very rude and not considerate. Just for reference I called around 2:14p.m. On September 7, 2023 And it was a women who was in charge of the handbags and accessories section. If you're really bargain shopping, go to Ross. This is more of a convenience discounter, and there aren't many good deals. Every month or so I come back in to look around and see if I can find a bargain, and usually leave empty handed or with a piece of damaged clearance. For those of you who are big on your labels, this place will be great. Excellent selection of handbags, house ware, baby clothing, and toiletries, eh selection on everything else. This location gets the high-end clothing, and is very trendy (they divvy up merch to these stores based on the relative income of the shopping population...chic SLO mommies, thanks for pooping my bargain party). The one thing I have learned living out here is that second-hand stores and thrift shops are actually pretty great - I guess a lot of people out here actually cycle their wardrobes based on the season. I'm still wearing clothes from middle school (I was a big kid), if that tells you anything. Next time I want to window shop, I'll come here. read more

I recently purchased a pack of jumper cables and other various roadside supplies. I had high hopes for this product but when the jumper cables came in need I was disappointed and nervous for the safety of the product and other users that have purchased it. I needed to jumpstart my truck and when I unpackaged it they were very short and when in connected it to my truck the plastic melted off it started smoking and I burned my hands trying to remove them. This store used to be well stocked but i feel its gone downhill in the past few years. Seems like the same merch doesn't get restocked/updated for weeks. The biggest downside are the super slow lines. Even at a down time on a weekday, you can easily spend ten minutes waiting to pay for some trinket. They only have a couple people covering registers so the line gets backed up easily. Since I often run errands on my lunch break, wasting time in line doesn't exactly make me want to come back. All in all, shopping here is a hit or miss as with the entire chain. read more

Why is this TJMaxx SO under stocked?! Mens selection has been dismal for years and getting worse, garden and housewares manages to get a few new things, but barely. Go down to LA and no problem there, we got back from the U.K. and the stores there and brands they carry were truely AMAZING and so much fun. A section called Mod Box with Versace and the like, hello! Wake up TJ America! It was how real stores are suppose to be! Screw America I guess. The Home Goods across the parking lot is bursting at the seems, but yet this TJMaxx is way under stocked. Makes no sense, someone somewhere in upper management needs to get this location kicked into gear and fast, the "go finding" motto seems to have left this store in the dust, you have to supply us with a selection first. I was treated so rudely by a young man today. He kept rolling his eyes and didn't attempt to help me. I had an online return and the order # but it wasn't sufficient for him. I was very frustrated at his lack of customer service. I decided to take my return to the Paso Robles store. They helped me immensely with my return with a friendly demeanor. The prices are great here. The selection of home items is awesome. Wonderful candles! Great journals, kitchenware, makeup and beauty products. (Not stoked on the clothing selection.) Andrew rang up my items and was super nice. All of the staff were super warm, welcoming and friendly. Andrew helped me check out at the register and basically read my mind asking if I wanted to put my items in my new carry on that I bought (instead of bagging everything.) What a wonderful suggestion! He also courteously wrapped all of my new glass candles in safe wrap paper and arranged everything carefully and neatly inside. He was very assuring and talkative. The only thing that left me with a bad impression was how many times I was pressured and asked if I wanted to apply for the credit card, despite knowingly having terrible credit and trying to work on this and clearly articulating and repeating myself at least three times on this. Finally I caved and said, why not? Only to be denied and felt like absolute sh* afterwards. I knew I wouldn't be approved and didn't need the extra ding on my credit. I left feeling harassed and dismantled... Definitely not how a customer should feel! Especially after spending $300 here. I called and told the manager how I felt about the credit card pushing afterwards and she was genuine, responsive and attentive on the phone. I have really wonderful memories shopping here early in college and I still have my wonderful dish set that I bought 10 years ago! read more

My wife and I bought a pair of suitcases here for our trip to Germany. The staff was helpful and the checkout line was short. The store has excellent lighting, the music is pleasant, and the prices are excellent. I wouldn't say it's exactly trendy, but they do have current merchandise. Overall a good experience. read more

If you're a lady, this is a great spot to find loads of clothes. If you're a dude...go over to that one corner area and see if one of the five things they have will work for you. Now, I get that guys are not traditional clothes choppers (well, not all of them) and I'll admit I love buying my shorts at Costco...but sometimes I want to spruce things up a bit and do some shopping for a nice bargain. Everyone knows you can hit up places like TJ Maxx for a good selection of name brand clothes at a discount. But what I didn't know was that 90% of those items would be for women only. So yea..I'm not joking either. The next time you go in here, go look for guys shoes and clothes. Then just stand and look at the size of the store. It's very sad as a guy to realize I don't get anywhere near the selection and options the ladies do. Oh well. I am a frequent shopper at this TJ Maxx and never have I been treated so poorly! I went in the store to return two small cheap children's toy items and had the receipt with me. They had never been opened. She could not find the sticker on one item and I told her that the item never had a sticker on it they had to look it up when I bought it! She proceeded to tell me there was no way she could return such item. Then all the other cashiers told her that she in fact could and it was easy! She then complained in front of me about how that is not the way she was taught and basically I was not worth her getting in trouble for it!!! She printed the sticker for the item all while huffing and puffing about it the whole time!! Then she proceeded to tell me that next time I will need to inform the cashier that she needs to print a sticker for my item before I leave with it!!!! So your telling me that as a "customer in your store" I need to tell you staff how to do their job!!!! That is just unreal!! Thanks TJ Maxx, but no thanks! I Can usually find a little something here at a reasonable price. They get 5 stars for the clothes and 2 stars for their customer service. I am glad to see the new HS grads working but their level on concentration is lacking. The sales young adults were yelling at each other about their personal business while customers were waiting in line. My cashier had trouble staying on topic and I had to repeatedly ask for one of my items that she rang up and did not give to me. This is the upscale Ross. Excellent prices (though not quite the bargain that Ross is), beautiful new store, very tidy and organized. There's also a bit more room to roam, so you're not stuck in crowded aisle. Their handbag selection is wonderful, and while prices are not inexpensive, they offer huge deals on designer bags. Very few inexpensive ones, but what they have is upper-end and beautiful. Shoe selection seems a bit skimpy, but well-priced. Nice jewelry section, lots of very attractive home decor and kitchen/bath stuff. I love shopping here! read more

When it comes to looking for name-brand merchandise at a great discount, chances are Ross stores come to mind. After all, it's widely advertised as a place where you get more for your money on great brands. Enter T.J. Maxx. This store moved into a location that used to be Linens-N-Things before they went bankrupt. It's basically like Ross, except that the aisles are neatly organized, some signature items are given their own racks, and it looks like fun on the inside if you're into bargain shopping. The jewelry section is worth checking out (for instance, when I was there, I was surprised at the amount and selection of Swiss-made watches that were available). However, it is like Ross in one aspect...it has the long lines at checkout. The system is computerized (it has a robot voice that tells you to go to lane "x" when it's free), but even then, there were only 2 employees at the checkout, which made the process somewhat slow. So, if you are looking for a great alternative to Ross, go to T.J. Maxx. read more

I was in TJ Maxx and bought quite a few things for my office. When I checking out, the sales associate did not hear my request for two bags so she put $100 worth of items in one bag. The bag ripped as I exited the store and all of my office items scattered all over the floor. The manager (I'm assuming she the manager because she was standing by the door not really doing anything), who is a blonde, middle-aged woman, looked at my items on the floor from a distance and asked, "are you okay?" in a sarcastic tone. I was extremely flustered and responded, "yes" as she walked away before I could finish responding. I assumed she was going to get me another bag but, instead, let me carry several items in my arms. Today, I will be calling corporate to complain about my experience. I hope this woman learns to treat others humanely. She was extremely rude and inconsiderate. And if she is, in fact, the manager- I hope her associates do not learn to treat people this way. If you are reading this, I hope that this experience never happens to you. I am the Queen of bargain shopping and I loved this TJ Maxx! This store was very clean and organized. The bathrooms were very clean. There was sooo much to choose from I had a problem putting stuff back. There was a ridiculous amount of items on clearance all throughout the store, not sure if its always like this or this was an end of the year clearance. The dressing rooms were clean and looked brand new. They had the family sized dressing rooms if you needed them. The shoe section was sparse but the purse area more than made up for what was lacking in shoes :) I left happy with a little less $ in my pocket. read more

I love TJ Maxx and this store is perfect example of why. They had a great selection of bags and wallets, a phenominal wall of scarves and a great beauty section with tons of salon shampoo's for less than half the retail price. The shoe selection was large but I didn't find much in my size (9-10). Still the lingere section was great as usual and the housewares are awesome too. The clothes selection was smaller in comparison to TJ Maxx's I have shopped at in the bay area but nevertheless was neat and organized and I still found a few things. San Luis doesn't have a department store and this is as good as it gets for us. read more

Best customer service I've ever had Diana has a nice friendly voice it's always so welcoming and energetic. she greets us while coming into the store and when we exit. I walked in one day with my one year old daughter and my 5 month old son and she immediately asked me if I needed help with putting my daughter in the shopping cart because she saw me struggling with my son. Her manager did a great job hiring her she's an excellent person and wonderful helping others! I will definitely be coming back to keep getting this excellent customer service. read more
