After 2 recent knee surgeries, my surgeon recommended GOOD shoes, directing me to the REI store. Mike's shoes is SOLELY a great & specialty shoe store in the same shopping center with knowledgeable and helpful staff. I bought 3 pairs of shoes, 2 on sale. I wore the most expensive pair per my Dr suggestion. The shoes I wore exclusively for one week did not solve the problem, as the Dr feels possibly another surgery may be needed Mike's shoes graciously took the unused pair back and refunded my money. FYI. It was 1) longer than the usual 15 days (I waited till I saw my Dr again - 3 weeks) and 2) they usually do not take shoes back that were on sale What great service I will shop there first in the future VS a store that sells everything but the kitchen sink. read more

I bought a pair of shoes last week and had a very helpful person. I wore the shoes once and I ended up twisting my knee very badly when wearing them. I tried to exchange them for a lower pair of shoes but they refused since they said they could not resell them. I told them I would even take store credit because I wanted to buy more shoes from them. I still got a "no". That is not good customer service. I will not buy from them or recommend them. read more

I absolutely love this location. Over the years all the brands of shoes I bought got worse and worse in quality. Finally I lost it when a pair of vans starting falling apart after 3 months. I found Mikes shoes and have bought every pair here since. - quality, quality, quality The quality shoes I find here are worth every penny. I've never heard of Ecco before this store but hands down worth the price. - service Each visit I feel very taken care of and this most recent I found myself taking an extra pair of shoes home due to the suggestion of an employee. I pay more then I did before for the shoes here but given the quality, service and local business aspect it's worth it. All the shoes I have bought have lasted multiple years. Fantastic store! We walked in and were greeted so nicely. The sales people were friendly without being pushing or hovering at all. They have extensive inventory of high quality, supportive shoes that we never find at other stores. You can tell the difference in quality!! And it's so great to try on in person!! Between myself and my fiancé we tried on around 15 pairs of shoes, they were super kind and patient and were not "salesy" at all. This place has fantastic staff and an excellent selection of high quality shoes. I ended up with a beautiful pair of dansko work shoes and my partner got some nice non-slip dress shoes. The staff suggestions and guidance were so unbelievably helpful, I ended up coming back the following day to purchase a beautiful pair of blundstone boots! I was also very pleased with their adherence to cdc guildlines and mask use, I felt very safe shopping here. Only twice in the many years I've been shopping there have I gone back to exchange a pair of shoes. Both times were easy & I did find a better fit. I have been going here FOREVAH!! This is worth seeking out in the back of the parking lot, amongst the never-ending construction - because this is a wonderful family owned store that always gives fantastic customer service. There is a fairly big variety of both men's & women's shoes in the store, along with slippers, ugg boots, and even crocs (not my fave but someone is wearing them). There are at least 2-3 generations of family members working in the store, and they all bend over backwards to help out customers and make sure you leave happy. It is customer service that is hard to find in most stores nowadays. It is lovely to see and I am happy to give them my business. read more

My favorite is the "Sales Rack" with step discount on great top brand name shoes. You won't always find your size, but when you do you will get a great shoe at the best price around. You can buy cheaper shoes but not the quality you will find at Mike's with their good prices and service. I have been having some foot problems and shopping for comfortable shoes and sandals. One foot swells up and both rub along the sides. I have checked out some recommendations and did find one new pair of tennis shoes. But having only two shoes I could wear was problematic. So yesterday I went to Mike's Shoes! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I pointed out some styles I liked. The salesperson brought out several different styles. My podiatrist highly recommends Mike's for Merrell shoes. I've been going there to purchase them for the past three years. The shoes are pricey but my feet have improved so much since wearing them. Generally I find the sales peope very pleasant to deal with but when I went in there this past Friday I was very disappointed. My mom and I felt like we were being watched over like we were going to steal something. I ended up buying a pair of Merrells but she said forget it after the way we were being treated and I can guarantee you that she would've bought a couple of pairs if she didn't feel like she was being treated like a thief. The older woman who was working there was also talking very loudly on a personal phone call right into my ear as I was checkinng out. Very tacky. I think in the future I will take my business to Santa Barbara or the internet. Very sad considering I like supporting local businesses. read more

I thought it was important to take the time to post this review because you really get a better idea of a stores customer service when something goes wrong. I mean, if everything goes perfectly, fine, everyone is nice, you pay and leave, everyone is happy. However if something goes slightly wrong, you really have a great opportunity to see how it is handled and how you are treated. I have to say that Mikes Shoes handled it VERY well. Long story short, I was accidentally charged 2x for one pair of shoes. I noticed it on my statement and they happily, promptly issued the credit. They remembered me, and even said to speak directly with a specific sales associate the next time I was in so they could continue to "make it up to me". Bottom line, excellent customer service, great quality shoes. The only reason I did not rate it a five is I like a little bit more selection. read more
