Meh. Middle of the road supper club food dressed up (not very well) as fine dining. I made reservations a few weeks out for our wedding anniversary. Arrived 27 minutes early, figuring we could sit at the bar and have a drink. Wrong. Their website says "Unwind with friends and family in the inviting Brunswick-style bar and lounge..." but the bar only has about 10 seats. All were occupied with people eating dinner at the bar. We were directed to go sit in the hotel hall outside to wait. That was one of the high points. The whole experience was just blah. Service was slow. The place was not busy - about 50 percent occupied I would guess. My wife's dirty martini arrived without an olive. There is a huge list of pricey wines by the bottle, but only maybe 5 reds by the glass. And after a wait, I was told the one I ordered was out. The French onion soup we ordered was pretty good. Steak was good, a small filet mignon. But - it was just plopped on a plate by itself. A grey piece of meat in the middle of a white plate by itself. For $47. No garnish, no effort to make it attractive. Sides were wrong, ordered twice-baked potato, almost got a regular baked potato. Overall, food was OK, just low effort at presentation and slow in coming. There's no dessert menu. Would have been nice to have a cup of coffee and a piece of cheesecake. It's not like they were looking to turn the table, took us two hours start to finish. Though I noted on the reservation it was our anniversary, that didn't get carried through. We don't need to be treated like royalty, but why ask if it's a special occasion if you're not going to acknowledge it? The check was wrong. I was charged for the glass of wine I didn't get. Had to wait again while that got fixed. The restrooms aren't in the restaurant - you have to leave and hike down the hotel hall to find one. It's just not the 4-star experience you would think from the billing and the big prices on the menu. Look elsewhere if you are looking for that fine dining experience. read more

She took our drink order and then vanished into the Bermuda Triangle of waitstaff for a solid 57 minutes. I half expected her to come back with a treasure map instead of our food. When she finally returned, she brought me a drink that was so far from my Hendricks and tonic, I could practically hear it laughing at my taste buds. Sorry, Stephanie, but I didn't mean to ruin your social hour--my bad for wanting what I actually ordered! Now, let's move on to the food. We sat down at 7 PM, and by the time our dishes finally graced our table at 9 PM, I was ready to file a missing persons report. When the steaks finally arrived, they looked as bland and boring as a beige wall--dry, lifeless, and utterly uninspired. To top it off, the steak I ordered rare came out well done, a culinary crime I didn't think possible. It sat on the plate like it had given up on life, and as if that wasn't enough, my plate featured the neat touch of a broken bone, as if to remind me that even the cutlery had given up hope. And just when I thought it couldn't get worse, they completely forgot one of our food orders. Nothing like eating alone at a table meant for two--just me and my overcooked steak, having a very one-sided dinner conversation. To add insult to injury, the manager decided to come over and cut me off mid-rant, telling me I had to leave, as if my complaints were an affront to his establishment. After that delightful exchange, I waited another 20 minutes for the check, which felt like an eternity. In a surprising twist, Stephanie did redeem herself with what I can only describe as a kindergarten-level apology about how bad everything was. It was endearing, really, in a "I-have-no-idea-how-to-fix-this" kind of way. Two hours for mediocre, overpriced food that tasted like it had been prepared in a time machine set to the 1990s. The decor? Oh, it was a trip down memory lane--if that lane was lined with expired trends and bad decisions. This place clearly thinks its name is the greatest football coach of all time, but let's be real: it's more like the worst place of all time. If only they put as much effort into their service and food as they do into their ego, we might have been in for a real game-changer. It's not the quality I would expect for the price point. This was a birthday dinner and there were four of us. Service was...meh?? Our server was very interested in up service and that's about it. It took a long time to get drinks, she barely checked in on us for anything and this was not a busy night. Steak was fine but I expected it to be and it definitely wasn't amazing. I felt very underwhelmed by the sides. They sounded so fantastic but fell so short. Overall this was not an amazing experience and I have been told. I have had better meals at places that were less than 1/2 the cost. It's very cool inside and they have a lot of memorabilia that is awesome to look through, but if you are coming here for the food and service...I suggest you eat elsewhere. Located in the very popular Hilton hotel in downtown Appleton Wisconsin, it provides business people and tourists with an upscale dining experience right there in the same place they are staying. Unfortunately, my experience wasn't great. I routinely come to the Appleton area for business, but believe it or not, I've never been to Lombardi's. I was really looking forward to our dinner because I am from Chicago... I love a good steakhouse. The prices they are charging at Lombardi's are pretty much in line with any upscale steakhouse in any major city, however the food just wasn't up to par. The manager and our food server were both very attentive, which is expected when you're paying almost $1000 for a meal for four people. I brought two customers and one coworker for dinner on a Thursday night, and despite the restaurant being empty when we arrived, it quickly filled up so a reservation was definitely needed. We started off with some appetizers. The Bang Bang shrimp were just OK. They should really get a hold of Bonefish Grill. It's a chain. Figure out how they make their Bang Bang shrimp and copy that recipe, because what we were served was pretty uninspired. Four average sized shrimp on a bed of coleslaw. We also ordered a wedge salad. It was fine. Nothing special. Lastly, our server recommended the Wagyu Cheesesteak Egg rolls. Lately, it seems restaurants slap the name Waygu on any piece of beef to justify a higher selling price. 10 years ago all of these places were saying their beef was all Black Angus. In 2024, it's Wagyu. Ridiculous. I'm thoroughly convinced none of these establishments are actually giving you Wagyu beef. The actual meat that was inside these egg rolls was bland and chewy. The appetizer itself seemed to be floating in a pool of grease. They gave us four pieces and we ate three. Not great. For my main course, I ordered the 10 ounce fillet mignon - which was $67 - and came with soup or salad. I opted for the lobster bisque, and again, it was fine. I've definitely had better. Now I like my fillet medium rare and quite honestly, despite the lackluster start of our meal, I really thought my steak was going to be dialed in. After all, this place gets great reviews. The atmosphere and decor are completely on point, and the service had been excellent. Sadly, my 10 ounce fillet was served medium, not medium rare. Now I'm out with clients for dinner and I'm not going to send food back unless it's absolutely terrible because the dinner is not about me, it's about my customers. I have no problem eating a steak that's medium. I'll even eat a fillet that's medium well as long as the meat itself is a quality piece of beef. Unfortunately for me, not only was my steak medium - it was also chewy and flavorless. I took a few bites and left the rest. The manager did come by and offer to make it right... but again, this dinner was not about me, so I politely declined. For our sides we got broccolini, some cheesy mashed potatoes, and some brussels sprouts. All of these were just OK. Again, nothing stood out. The meal wound up being a great success, because my customers had a great time, and that was the point of the outing. However, I have to be honest when reviewing the establishment I'm dining at, and Lombardi's just didn't deliver on the quality and taste of their food. The service was great. The price point on their wine list was very reasonable so we enjoyed a bottle of wine with the meal, but if you're going to invest this kind of money on a steak dinner, you should expect a lot more bang for your buck. read more

Nothing is the same about Lombardi's. Prior to Covid we frequented this restaurant often. We always bragged about how consistent and amazing Lombardi's steaks and everything else was. This is absolutely no longer the case. Lots of Covid excuses and when questioned about types of meat cuts and not serving onion rings and hollandaise sauce with the steaks all we got were a bunch of lies. I don't normally comment on decor, but you sorta have to at Lombardi's. The whole place is covered with Packers and Lombardi memorabilia which honestly makes the whole place kinda dark and drab. Obviously if you're not a Packer fan it all just looks somewhat tacky, especially for what is trying to be a higher end steakhouse. My group and I shared appetizers including the bruschetta, fried calamari, and risotto cakes. The bruschetta was very fresh and quite good. I'd never had risotto cakes before; these seemed ok, but I wouldn't necessarily get them again. Had an interesting texture but not the strongest of flavors. The fried calamari was superb though, probably the highlight of the meal. Cooked to perfection, crispy and not oily, the calamari also came with a delicious lemon aioli. Absolutely recommend the fried calamari. The whole table had steaks for dinner. And the whole table said their steaks were overcooked a bit. Not bad enough to send the steaks back, but everyone noticed the steaks were overcooked. I actually don't mind my steaks slightly overcooked (rather over than under), but I had asked for the blue cheese crusting on mine. I fully expected just some dashes of blue cheese on top to add a bit of flavor, but no, it was as if a massive wedge of cheese had been crumbled and then whisked to a semi-liquid state. The steak was completely covered in a thick layer of blue cheese which was just so overwhelming. I scraped off 99% of it. We had a number of sides - mashed potatoes, mushrooms, etc. They were all ok, nothing worth remembering though. Overall, don't go in with high expectations. read more

Start with the shrimp cocktail and the caesar salad. Then gotta try the Porter house steak. Wow. All that. Simple, juicy, beautiful. Service was very good, and the atmosphere was very nice and had the classic steakhouse vibe. That's about where the positives end. Ordered a 50 dollar steak medium rare, and it came out at well done. Everyone in our party had overcooked steaks as well. On top of that they had little to no seasoning, which I don't mind if they are cooked well, but they weren't. Sides are extra, and those weren't great either. French onion soup comes in a large onion, but it's not cooked or meant to be eaten,and the soup was lukewarm at best.
