I'll start by saying this place was brought to my attention via a mail coupon from the house I just moved to near the nail salon. I moved from the uptown area and had my set spot that I went to religiously every 2 weeks esp the past year being pregnant it was my escape. Fast forward to three months after my last mani/pedi which was the day of my delivery I was dying to find a new spot near my house and have my mom watch the baby for a little treat. I couldn't be more impressed. I have literally never had staff take their time like this place did. They did a fabulous job and listened to my requests. I love to start fall with a dark purple color called "Lincoln Park after dark" by opi and not only did they have this in regular polish for my toes, but they had the matching opi in gel for my nails. It was my first time having my nails professionally done, the service I got was wonderful. The reason I went was because I wanted my nails to last long enough to where i can let them grow out comfortably. I had to trust the process as there wasn't much i knew about dipping powder. It felt intimidating at first due to the language gap, however they were very nice and accommodated for my small hands/short nails. Looking for a new nail shop, this is not the place!!! Went on Wednesday afternoon for a powder dip and a pedi. Nails were horrible, not smooth and not buffed. Got home and went to get a plate out of cabinet and nail it the plate and nail broke off. Returned Thursday morning and they repaired the broken nail. Friday morning working and typing on computer and another nail breaks. I glued the nail back together and will have all the nails removed this weekend. Pedi was ok, but was not given the service I paid for. Now I understand why the place had no customers!!! Definitely will not go back to this salon. read more

My complaint is mainly with their service. My dip powder manicure was a 3/5 stars. The service was terrible though. My sister and I walked in to get manicures together, and please note that they were not very busy for a Friday around 4pm. They sat us and started on my sister right away. They had her done in about 30 minutes and still hadn't started on my nails yet. They finally got to me... and switched nail techs on me 3 times. The poor 3rd nail tech was a man and I honestly don't blame him for anything that came next. He finished my nails and then wiped the color off on accident before my nails were dry. Long story short I was in this salon for two hours and my poor sister had to sit there waiting for me. They just need better service. read more

This isn't my usual spot but I thought I would try them out. They didn't do a bad job but I wasn't impressed. I got a deluxe pedicure that was supposed to have a "35 minute massage". I did not get a massage even though they insisted I did. My nail tech didn't ask me if I wanted tips. Didn't ask me what shape I wanted. They also had a fruit fly problem. Massage was tepid, almost annoying after a while - not enough strength in Thi's hands to be called "good." She was good in every other way. As you can tell from the picture - the lady didn't polish my nails that well. Looks like something I would have done at home. I thought she cleaned my feet well - but not as deep cleaned as I thought because my first were still very dry afterwards. I returned less than a month later with a friend and received the poorest of services as well as she. But I'm just giving my honesty that's what Yelp is For! Yes I did bring it to the appropriate person(s) attention and received a chance to come back for a redo but unfortunately the time didn't permit it due to the holidays. Not to mention having to sit there again to get both hand and feet re-done times precious and I work through the week. My appt was at 230 the nail tech was working on someone when i arrived I waited almost 45 min then someone else showed up to get nails fixed she stopped working on me to attend that customer. So i was waiting again. There were children dropped off and no adult was supervising them they were loud and rude it was the most unpleasant nail experience I've had. I found TL nail salon on Groupon and wanted to bring some friends along for my birthday. We gave it a go ; gel manicures and spa pedicures. I LOVED it! The staff were all incredibly friendly. Toole( I probably misspelled her name) did my toes and I have to say that was probably the best my feet have ever looked (and felt). Thi did my nails and did each one meticulously. They looked great and She is so sweet. And they lasted longer than 2 weeks! Which is a miracle for my nails. Plus, the pedi chairs are massage chairs! I'll definitely be coming back here :) All of my friends nails looked fabulous as well. And their nails have lasted even longer than mine. read more

I can't believe how awful my nails look. I went in was extremely patient, even waited double the amount of time I was told it would take to be seen. My nails are not even, the gel has bubbles on three of ten fingers, they wouldn't fix them. My finger was cut when Yan was snipping my cuticles and then my finger was burning the rest of the time. She used excessive alcohol more then what I'm familiar with. I posted the picture of what my nails look like when I get them done from home, Yan said she could do that. I have tried this place three times. I will never go back. The prices are great but the four different people I had (one for a pedi & the other three for NexGen) all seem like they have barely learned how to do the jobs, even when what I wanted was translated by another staff member (two of the four people apparently didn't understand what I wanted). The first time I went, a guy did my nails. I told him to cut all my natural nails down to the length of my shortest nail and then add tips (so they would all grow the same length). He cut all my nails down & added a tip to the one nail that I pointed out as the length I wanted all other nails to be cut down to. As he's closing up the box of tips I stopped him & explained again that I wanted tips on all nails (I mean, seriously, who goes to a nail salon & asks for all their nails to be cut off & only gets a tip on one nail?). The person next to him had to tell him what I was asking for. When he finally finished all the dipping and sealing, he went to do the 4th step (the two coats of the stuff that makes the nails shiny). He only applied one coat so I had to ask for the second coat & he looked at me like I killed his cat. I have been getting NexGen for several years and have never only gotten one coat. He grudgingly applied it and walked away. When I went the second time, I got a pedi & NexGen. The older lady who did my pedi cut my toe pretty bad - it wasn't a little nip, either - I bled for a while. The lady who did my NexGen got the shape right but there were several areas that weren't buffed properly nor did they have the 4th step done all over the nails so there were so many spots that didn't shine like NexGen is supposed to. I said I wasn't going back after that visit but I decided to go back yesterday since I was with my daughter (who absolutely loves this place, by the way). The girl I had didn't understand I wanted what is called a "squoval" I explained that I wanted a square shape with slightly rounded corners. The girl who did my daughter's nails had to explain to her what I wanted. I was watching something on the TV and when she asked how the shape was I mentally threw in the towel: she filed them oval. There is no way she could fix the shape without adding tips, which I do not want. I decide to just bite my tongue, let her get finished, and never go back. Well, after leaving the salon, I look at my nails & decide I have to write this review. The nails weren't buffed smooth so several areas are lumpy, the nail lengths are uneven, there is still red (from my previous color) under some nails, and most of the nails are missing the shiny coat on the sides of the nails. I'm so done with this place that I won't even go back to have them fix them. I have added pictures but they really don't show how bad it is. read more

Checked out this nail salon because I had received a coupon in the mail and saw there was a Groupon online. The Groupon required a reservation. We made a reservation but we were seated until almost 35 minutes later. When's we sat down in the pedicure chairs, both our waters was rather lukewarm/cold. I asked for mine to be hotter and they certainly made it very horn I was unimpressed with the pedicure and it's quality. My toes look just the same as when I paint them. Opted for the powder dip manicure. This took much longer than expected. Not sure if it was the technician or that i got tips added, but my friends manicure took half the time mine did and she started after me and finished before. For a 2 hour visit for TL, I want too impressed. For a mani/pedi they offer a $35 special. You'll get what you pay for. Would only return with a coupon or promo and get no pedicure. read more

Average. I like the nice, nonpushy, polite manicurists, who don't bother with trying to small talk (I like to zone out!) Clean and sterile practices. The hand and foot massage was indifferent, just going through the motions. I asked for an American manicure, which they didn't know what it was, so I showed them a picture- but somehow still ended up with a french manicure. I have naturally long nails, and she made the white tips very thin- thinner than my natural tips, which is very disappointing. I would have told her to do a thicker stripe, but she cured it and I wasnt paying attention to check before that happened. You get what you pay for- and while this is place is overall a good bargain and a nice job- its nothing special. read more

Unfortunately I had a terrible experience here due to the fact that they charged me MORE for what I signed on my receipt. My original total was 65$ (As seen on the receipt) I left the tip blank because I decided not to leave a tip due to the poor manicure I got then had to wait an extra 30 minutes for it to get fixed. Thankfully I check my bank statement and noticed that I was being charged 77$. A 12$ difference. I had to go in and they would not explain to me why they decided to leave themselves a generous tip. OVERALL, BE CAREFUL HERE AND CHECK YOUR BANK STATEMENT A WEEK LATER, DOUBLE CHECK IF THEY AREN'T CHARGING YOU MORE THAN WHAT YOU AGREED TO. The salon itself is very cute, and is always incredibly clean. The staff are always nice, but some are more competent than others. I went to TL to get my NexGen removed and get shellac on. The woman to did my shellac did not put the top coat on one of my fingers. So after leaving the salon, once I noticed it, I had to go back. When I came back, the guy (not the same person who did them) was very nice and made sure the issue was resolved. The workers are very nice. The woman who originally did my nails, was also coughing and while she covered her mouth, she did not get up to wash her hands. It was disgusting. They are also poorly done (I got Funny Bunny and there are opaque spots in the color on some of my nails). The color is already starting to peel off (just 3 days later). I will not be returning to TL Nail Spa. read more
