Vegetarian people, you must not leave Mexico City without trying the Tlaco from this place! Thanks to Yelp, we explored this place while walking the beautiful neighborhood of Condesa. It is tucked in a not so busy street next to a couple of restaurants. A small assuming spot with a few tables outside the kitchen to accommodate small group. What comes out of that kitchen is nothing short for pleasant surprised and delicious authentic and transitional Mexican food. I never had Tlaco before so we asked for recommendations. Grass pea Tlaco with cactus topping, chickpea in axiote and Mexican fava bean in pepian were all absolutely delightful. They have a cactus drink as well, which is refreshing. Must try and you won't be disappointed!

This must be my favorite restaurant in CDMX. My fiancé and I were introduced to - and fell in LOVE with - Tlacoyo on this trip. So, when we found an entire restaurant dedicated to Tlacoyo, we knew we had to try it. They have a wide variety of options for every part of the dish, giving you the freedom to create your own. We also tried the soup of the day, which was corn and mushroom, and it was AMAZING. The service is lovely, attentive, and friendly and the decor is so charming. The bathroom has jars of different kinds of corn as decoration. I honestly want to keep this place a secret but I also want it to do well, so... Come to Tlaco!!! You won't be disappointed.

Review Highlights - Tlaco

The Tlacoyos (mushroom, mole, guacamole on handmade masa) are incredible - one of the best things I've eaten.

Ojo de Agua was hands down one of our favorite food finds in Mexico City. Even though they have…read moreseveral locations across CDMX, we stumbled upon one just a short walk from our hotel--and the fact that they were open on Christmas Day already earned bonus points. What really says it all? We loved it so much, we went back the very next day. This was the only restaurant we repeated during our week-long stay, which should tell you everything. The menu is extensive and thoughtfully curated--fresh, flavorful, and something for everyone. We tried the croissant sandwich, salmon deli nut sandwich, chutney mango deli sandwich, santos ahogados, fig chipotle deli sandwich, pear honey deli sandwich, and the spicy tuna deli sandwich. The sandwiches came with a standard simple salad. Every single item was delicious, well-balanced, and satisfying in that "clean but filling" way. The tables had two delicious spicy chili oil like condiments which elevated each of these dishes. And the juices--WOW. So refreshing, vibrant, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. The perfect complement to the food and ideal for starting (or resetting) your day. If you're visiting Mexico City, Ojo de Agua is an absolute must. With such a wide menu, you're guaranteed to find something you'll love--and very likely come back for more. Highly recommend!

Very fresh and affordable healthy options! We stopped in on a weekday afternoon after walking by…read moreearlier and seeing how packed it was. We tried a few juices, the chicken tomato salad and the salmon tacos. The salad was huge with a big portion of chicken, avocado and many toppings for a reasonable price. The tacos were smaller but flavorful. Taking off a star because my salad arrived almost 15 minutes before my boyfriend's tacos arrived and the restaurant was pretty empty. The lights were out in the bathroom and in part of the restaurant, so not sure if they were dealing with a partial power outage and impact to the kitchen. Still recommend for the food!

We stopped in for dinner and were greeted by a very friendly, English-speaking server. I ordered the lentil soup (110 pesos) to start -- pretty tasty, but overpriced given what you get. My wife & I also shared the huitlacoche dumplings (150 pesos), which comes with 4 dumplings filled with a sort of corn-like filling and topped with a peanuty sauce -- tasty, but a rip-off for 4 pieces. For our mains, I got the protein bowl (280 pesos) and added some chickpea chorizon (25 pesos). Fairly boring but healthy bowl. Nothing really stood out. The tofu was not plentiful enough, nor prepared all that well. Satisyfing enough, but again, overpriced. My wife got the Enfrijoladas (265 pesos), a dish with pink tortillas filled with plantains, coconut cheese and almonds, all sitting in a black bean sauce. The tastes I had were pretty solid, but lacked flavour depth and needed some spices to amp it up. All in all, not worth the hype, especially if you're looking for authentic vegan Mexican. There are many other places worth prioritizing in town.
