My co-worker took me here for lunch. This was my first time here . It's a small cozy restaurant. They probably only have 8 seats in the whole restaurant. We ended up eating inside . I ordered the Asada burrito. Burrito was served with beans, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, and pico de gallo and I got a side order of rice . Steak was cooked just perfect. All the ingredients were fresh. They had this spicy green salsa with lime, cilantro and some kind of peppers . It was so good. They also offer tacos , tortas, quesadillas. They offer a lot of different meats. To name a few. Tripa, rib eye, al pastor, arrachera, mahi-mahi fish, cabeza, chorizo, chicken, and beef tongue. I'm definitely coming back to try something new. They offer a special each day of the week. (as pictured). They also sell beers. Only offer street parking .

Though I've eaten tacos delivered from La Plancha, this was my first time eating at La Plancha. You see this little place, formerly a beauty shop, had only a few seats inside and some outdoor seating. But it's always crowded. Now that they have an indoor space (formerly a CPA office) and a bar, it was more accessible for our party of six. We feasted on chips, salsa, guac and tacos (pastor, fish, lengua, carne asada), birria, enchiladas. Delicious, so tasty! So friendly! Definitely coming back for more!

In a city full of good Mexican food, I'm not that impressed by La Plancha. Some people say it's the most authentic, which it might be but they have some flaws I can't get past. The food has always been decent enough but the ordering system needs work. You enter into a tiny shop to order, and they only have one line counter where they are cooking. I have waited nearly an hour for a few tacos before, which is kind of ridiculous. I think they might prioritize people eating there over takeout. I'm glad they opened the separate inside seating portion, because they have a patio (only good for moderate weather) and 4 stools inside the building, which can get pretty smoky because they are cooking in close proximity.

Asada and the Vampira taco

Great tony little taco place. Wow. It was fantastic and they were knowledgeable about gluten free to advice me on what to order I got the Asada which I would rate a 7 of 10 Then then Vampira which was a 10 of 10 And the Vulcan which was a 10 of 10 but you have to get it without the fried crispy layer. Really great place.

After walking around Highwood trying to find a dinner spot, we ended up at La Plancha Loca. The atmosphere is very upbeat and summery. It's a small stand with some decorated outdoor seating. There's not much indoor seating, so I would recommend taking out in bad weather. The majority of their menu are tacos, with tons of different combinations that looked delicious. There are also burritos, quesadillas, chips and guac, etc. Really anything you could want from a Mexican restaurant. Service was wonderful here. They were helpful and quick! We started with just a basic order of chips & guac, which was a good size to split between four of us. Their chips were homemade and uniquely spiced and were thicker than your normal chip - perfect for holding any dips or toppings! The guac was also delicious. I ordered a burrito bowl, which wasn't on the menu but they offer. Only word of warning is that it doesn't come with rice. We weren't warned of this when we ordered, but when we asked they gave me a side of rice for free which was very nice. Everything about this was delicious - I scarfed down the whole thing! I ordered it with chicken and it was flavorful and tender. Nothing crazy unique, but very tasty. I would come back here and try some of their taco varieties!

Mi helada with a fun tamarindo candy swizzle

Super yummy michelada! Fresh pico that's plentiful with lime and cilantro- super yum. Super fluffy and flavorful rice. Black beans perfect consistency and three awesome salsas- pretty sure that one is a classic Verde, one is an avocado Verde that is super floral (likely jalapeños, and the red is unlike any other red I've had- pretty sure it has tamarindo yum). Nice outdoor seating and friendly service.... Probably couldn't ask for more... except maybe parking lol...I parked in the back lot but I'm pretty sure that's private for the apartments. First place I've tried in this area and I will definitely be back.

I really enjoyed La Plancha Loca. I parked on the street and on my way walking up to the facility . The smells drifted into my nostrils and started getting my tastebuds into overdrive. Sidewalk seating and bar seating indoors. We arrived a little after 7:00 to walk in to a very small restaurant. It was packed ( taco Tuesday) I ordered 1 grilled shrimp tacos Steak taco, black beans and rice Al pastor taco pork torta That came with chips Guacamole and chips and tamarind drink. I loved all of it. Home made chip with the perfect smattering of salt . I loved the guacamole but was extremely expensive tax and tip for guacamole was 12.00. I liked the black beans better then the guacamole. It's cool how you can peek over the counter and see the whole kitchen. This place is excellent. We ended up ordering three more times after our first order. Lots of leftovers . The chips beans and guacamole made a tasty treat for breakfast. Rice beans and guacamole were seasoned fantastic .

El Volcan was tasty but not loca especial. The chorizo tacos were tasty but a little dry yet not greasy like at so many other taquerias.

As always, customer service and cooks were so friendly and polite, professional and knowledgeable. One thing to note about La Plancha Loca is that everything is made right in front of you. You can see how clean the kitchen area is as well as the guest area, and the cooks take such care in everything they're working on.

I happened to be there the day of the infamous "Credit Card Crisis of Highwood," and judging by…read moresome of the reviews, you'd think Netflix was already filming the documentary. Here's what I actually saw. A simple credit card mix-up happened. Not identity theft. Not Ocean's Eleven. Just two nearly identical cards accidentally getting swapped. The owner immediately started working to figure it out, stayed calm, and everyone involved was trying to coordinate getting the card back as quickly as possible. What surprised me wasn't the mistake--it was the reaction. The owner, who is one of the nicest and most genuine people you'll ever meet, spent the entire time trying to solve someone else's problem while being treated as though he'd masterminded an international banking conspiracy. Meanwhile, several customers jumped in to help because that's the kind of community this place has. Instead of appreciating the effort, things escalated into unnecessary hostility. It honestly felt like watching someone order the "Full Karen Flight" instead of the beer flight. Mistakes happen. Character shows in how people respond to them. The owner even comped the entire tab for the affected party, which was far more generous than most businesses would have been. That's the kind of place Beermiscuous is. I've been coming here for years because the beer selection is phenomenal, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the owner genuinely cares about his customers. One unfortunate mix-up doesn't erase that--especially when everyone was bending over backwards to make it right. If your biggest takeaway from a place that went above and beyond to fix an honest mistake is still outrage, maybe the bitterest thing on the menu wasn't the IPA. David, I don't even know you but let's have a beer! I'll happily keep coming back.

The guy left with my card and the person working - who said he's actually the owner - didn't seem too fazed by it and really struggled to figure out what to do, even bringing other customers into it who were a bit over the top. Something like this can't happen every time, but for us when it happened it wasn't even that crowded. It was so weird, as was the reaction. Try the place at your own expense. Check out their to go stuff instead maybe.

I ordered the Tinto de Verano, and it was really good. It was a bit strong and reminded me of a sangria. For tapas, we got the #21 shrimp dish, which was packed with flavor. The combination of sauces and spices paired perfectly with the shrimp. We also ordered the #35 calamari, which was equally delicious. The calamari was light and airy, and the accompanying sauces added even more flavor. We also shared the patatas bravas, which were crispy and had a nice little kick to them. Overall, the food was excellent, the service was attentive, and the atmosphere was really enjoyable. I'd definitely come back to try more dishes!

First of all, I could not make reservations because apparently they don't take it for less parties…read moreof four people. So we came here on a random Friday night to test our luck to get a table at 7 o'clock for two people. We got lucky and got to sit inside because that's where we wanted to sit although they do have sidewalk or outdoor seating as well. I thought sitting inside would be cooler, but I was wrong as all the doors and windows were open and I don't believe the AC was on at all. Well, the menu is pretty extensive. I will say that a vegetarian could definitely eat here as well as anyone else. This is our first visit here and as you can tell from the photos ordered quite a bit of food. And typical top of style the portions are pretty small, but they are meant to be shared. It was actually too much food for two people who were already hungry. Some of the standouts were definitely the meatballs and the salad salads. The jamon iberico was absolutely incredible. Not pictured was the picture of sangria we ordered. We got the rosé and to be quite honest with all of the heat. It actually watered down way too quickly. And it also came in a plastic picture, which was a bit of a turn off. The shrimp with garlic was good, but the garlic was hard to taste because it was also covered or doused in a lot of tomato base or tomato sauce. I was really looking forward to a very clear buttery or olive oil sauce that was saturated with garlic. The mushrooms were OK as well, but again too much tomato in this dish that I'm not used to. The potatoes were also very tasty and well seasoned, and the sauce on it was just right. I think this is a good option for people who want top us in the suburbs however, I will say that I hope they do some tweaking to the recipes as well so that they have something that truly makes them stand out and unique.

It has been some time since we have visited Global Brew Schaumburg so we were way overdue…read more We visited early on St. Patty's Day and enjoyed a few samples before commiting to a pint. I love that there are always a few great ciders on tap or in cans too. Hubby tried the Chimay and also a Phase Three (P3) Amber. Happy hour tater tots with beer cheese are a perfect shareable bite. We left before the night got too packed for Shenanigans and trivia. Always terrific and friendly service here. No patrons appeared annoyed/ angry... so he was keeping up fairly well. I would say that at 9pm when we arrived, it was fairly loud inside with the trivia going on. That's not my jam, but if it happens to be of interest, folks seemed like they were all having a blast. As soon as the trivia ended, there was a max exit from the establishment. There are a bunch of on tap and canned selections of different beers and a few wines and sangria on tap, as well. We didn't get any food, but there was reportedly a couple of kitchen staff working. I did see a platter of tots being brought out that looked good. Overall a great place to dive into for a good beer. It's in the same parking lot as Binnys.
