    Steak torta
    Tricia D.

I used to love this place so much, but the last couple visits have been underwhelming. Mainly, I knocked down the stars because - the chicken was bland. I prefer the grilled chicken flavor at Chipotle. - the meat was a bit lacking in the torta. - customer service and friendliness wasn't there, as it has been in the past. Plentiful paper towels on each table, and one small unisex bathroom in the back. Also 10% off with Yelp check in.

The taco Tuesday deal here is now $2/taco. The tacos are still good and the service is fast.

    So many options

Amazing food it's a hole in the wall but everything I've tried is really good for a great price the customer service is always so good!

La Taquiza taqueria is a good place to get tasty tacos. On my recent visit there I took advantage of their taco Tuesday special. On Tuesdays, they have tacos for $1.50 and it's a really good deal. You get regular-size tacos with generous portions of the filling of your choice. I ordered their: 1) Asada - grilled skirt steak 2) Bomba - Pork, Ham, Chorizo, Pineapple and salsa 3) Tinga - shredded chicken with chipotle sauce 4) Chorizo y papas - Chorizo and potatoes Tacos They tasted good and the best in the bunch was the Bomba taco followed by the Tinga one. The only thing I didn't do right was not eat them right away. I had done a carry-out for dinner. So, I ate the tacos at a later time in the day which wasn't as fun as eating them fresh. But all that aside, I enjoyed my meal. The Taco Tuesday special is definitely worth it. They also have other specials during the other days of the week. I would recommend checking out this taqueria for its delicious menu variety and tasty tacos.

    The rude owner

If there's lower than 1 star, that's what I'm going to rate this restaurant. I can't believe what just happened today! The owner (at least that's what she said) was very rude and nasty! I was ordering for to go but decided to just eat in. After being almost done with our meal, I wanted to order to go again and guess what the owner told me... ' if you are going to eat this here again, then you are wasting my bags, etc'. You can't order and say to go and then you will eat it here!' (Mind you this order is really to go that I will bring home to my kids.) I can't believe what I just heard!!! I called her out saying that was rude to say that and she continued to say that it's the truth. 'I am the owner' and just don't order. Wow, just wow! I never expected an owner can be so nasty and act this way, and even raising her voice! To top it all, she didn't let me continue to order and said 'I don't need your business'... Well, you just lost a valued customer and I will make sure to let everyone I know in the area to not patronize this business. I am a restaurant owner myself and we are never like this to our customers! Do me a favor and try to not condone this kind of behavior and stop supporting businesses where owners don't respect customers!!!!

Did a quick take out here for the Santana concert at Ravinia. I figured what better way to celebrate and enjoy than with tacos y Santana! I was able to place an order online for pickup. The restaurant is located in downtown Winnetka in a building shared with other businesses. If you don't pay attention, you could also easily pass it up. When I arrived, my order was ready and packaged nicely for transport to Ravinia. The entire time we set up our area, the smell of tacos just permeated from the bag so needless to say, we didn't wait too long before giving in and eating everything. I got the Birria tacos with a side of rice and it was delicious. The consumme even had chunks of meat inside it that I ended up scooping over my side of rice. My brother got the steak tacos and he inhaled it! I had no idea what to expect with this spot but it was on the way so we took a chance and it was worth it! Will definitely be back to try the other menu items.

If you are looking for traditional Mexican fast food, La Taquiza is a solid choice. The ingredients they use are high quality and their hot sauce is flavorful. However, based on their menu, lack of flexibility and customer service, I don't come here nearly as often as I otherwise would. Let me explain. I'm a middle-aged guy who needs to really watch my diet. If I consistently make bad food choices, it shows up on my stomach and in my blood work. I try to eat some vegetables at every lunch and dinner and limit my saturated fat and simple carbohydrates. These restrictions narrow my food choices here considerably. Their burrito bowl is generally my safest option, but almost half the ingredients I leave out: cheese, sour cream, and rice, leaving only refried beans, tomatoes, chicken, and guacamole. I asked the owner for their fajita vegetable mix instead of the three ingredients I took off. When I got the bill, it was 30% more than the listed price; she charged me extra for the veggies. On principal, I told her I was unwilling to pay that. She removed the charge and didn't give me the veggies. I really don't care about the extra charge-most of my meals are more expensive-but their menu is very unhealthy and they penalize the customer for making healthy food substitutions that would cost them nothing (they could have reduced the guacamole). Worse still, they forgot my employee's chips and salsa, which I heard her order. When we asked for it, she said they forgot to ring it up (at this point we had our other food). Rather than just give her a 25-cent basket of chips, they wanted to charge her for their mistake. Penny-wise, pound stupid. If you're one of those lucky people who can eat whatever you want without consequence, this place is great; for the rest of us, Chipotle is a better option.

Two tamales; one queso con rajas and second one pollo con verde salsa.

The service is very orthodox and kinda not service at all. You order at the front then sit down. When the food is ready you go to the front again and pick up your food. No one person gives you service here. The owner is confused about owning a restaurant..... but okay. Someone should post self service here in big bold letters. Food tastes okay; portions were decent. I'm giving this place 2 stars because of the portions. Oh yeah I got up to get the salsa located in the front of the restaurant in a refrigerator. She told me go ahead it's in there in Spanish. Haha funny One more thing we are no longer in Covid pandemic!!!!!

On a rainy Thursday night, we finally had a chance to check it out because we wanted a quick and easy meal before heading to the Art exhibition opening in the Northbrook Public Library close by. The restaurant was not busy at the time. There was only 1 table occupied. After we settled down, there was another small table taken. Our waitress was friendly, but after she brought the Miller Light for my husband and a draft beer "Fist City" for our daughter, she forgot about my lemonade. I had to remind her when she brought our food. She also just brought 1 Fish Taco when my daughter ordered 2, and had to place another order again. Not a big deal. When we left and passed by her, she didn't say anything like thank you or good bye, just looking at us. It was a little awkward. Well, maybe she's just not very outgoing. Hope that I was not expecting too much from a little eatery. Now on to the tacos. There were hits and misses. The Crispy Avocado Taco was very good! It's my first time tasting fried avocado, crispy and flavorful! I would order that again! However, the lamb in the Lamb Carnitas Taco was bland and rather dry. it's the first time that I ever had lamb that had no flavor. Although the mango slaw had a nice crunch, tart and refreshing, and went well with the lamb meat, it was skimpy and not enough to top all the meat. I joked to my husband that maybe that's the taste of munching on cardboard! I don't like to waste food and I wasn't full, but I could not continue eating, and had to waste half of the lamb taco. Husband thought that his Blackened Salmon Taco was OK, but his Steak Taco was not, since every bite of steak had gristle. He was surprised since that was supposed to be their signature taco. Daughter's 2 Fish tacos were good, except that she didn't like the flour taco shells. She prefers corn taco shells. My lamb taco had corn taco shells (2 layers) and the crispy avocado had flour shells. I love supporting local businesses and really planned to give Eataco 5 stars before we came, but had to deduct 1 star after we dined in. However, when I read more reviews afterward and found that many customers enjoyed the 2 bottles of salsa (1 green and 1 red) that came with the tacos, and we had no condiments of any kind on our table. Should I had a bottle of salsa, the Lamb Carnitas would have been edible. Unfortunately, I had to deduct another star. Our overall experience at Eataco was not bad, it took us only 55 minutes for the meal. It fits the bill when you need something quick and simple.

We ordered at the counter and picked up our tray when the food was ready. My wife and I shared a reasonably sized single portion of chicken fajitas. I came here and ordered a bunch of food to try: Elotes -- street-style corn. The corn was kind of over-cooked as it was more mushy than crunchy Chips and guacamole -- plenty of guacamole. Seasoned well and the perfect crunchy to smooth ratio. Chips could have been more, which usually its the opposite; there's more chips than guacamole, but not in this case. Chips needed some salt. Chicken fajitas -- came out sizzling, as fajitas should be. The order came with ample amount of tortillas and overall, was great. Chicken cooked well, veggies were seasoned well. Fish and shrimp taco (seafood combo) -- I liked the shrimp taco over the fish. The fish was grilled Cheetos Burrito -- somewhat gimmicky, but it was your ordinary burrito, with some flaming hot Cheetos in it. The burrito came with shredded lettuce, refried beans, ground beef. Decent sized burrito, but not the football-size burritos that you may find in other places Dining area was decent-sized. It consisted of tables and chairs, as well as a couple of booths. Hot sauce in the self-served fridge if you like it spicy.
