This place was good super clean place and service was good always asking if we needed anything else. Friendly and felt warm with a cold breeze when they would open the main door lol but it's winter in and around Chicago. So this place is a bit far up north of Chicago but if your in the area go check it out autentico Oaxaca Mexican food good flavor for sure I would go again if I'm in the area for sure. As for the bill it wasn't too bad like other places.

Chacahua is a new restaurant that opened in the former Inka Peru and before that, Cluckers restaurant. It's bright and colorfully decorated, though small. It highlights Oaxacan cuisine, particularly tlayudas, as well as seafood and mixed plates. I asked the owner how to pronounce the name (cha-ca-wah) as well as what it meant. He pointed out a mural of Laguna Chacahua, where he was from, and described it as a beautiful non-touristy place, shallow water with colorful cabins on the water, a fun place to eat, drink and relax. Sounds lovely. I pulled up the map and it's a one hour taxi from Puerto Escondido and 7 hours from Acapulco. He offered us Agua Fresca and I picked cantaloupe. The mug they served it in was gigantic and the water was thick with cantaloupe pulp. My companion had a horchata and they also have hibiscus. They provided freshly fried chips and salsa. We started with guacamole and I ordered chicken enchiladas. I asked them for whichever sauce was the mildest and they served verde sauce. It was still a little spicy for me but there were three enchiladas with rice, beans and a little salad, plated very attractively. My friend had a shrimp (fried) taco and carne asada taco with a side of grilled onions. We enjoyed our meals, the food was attractive and good portions, the setting was lively and fun, and the service was very friendly and hospitable. The menu was in Spanish so it took a little time to decipher although the owner was quite nice and eager to describe the dishes and make recommendations. There have been a few Mexican restaurants that have opened recently in the HP/Highwood area and they are all good/noteworthy in different ways. Chacahua is notable in that it specializes in Oaxacan cuisine which is different. I think I would come back to try the specialty tlayuda which sounds a bit like a Oaxacan pizza -- fried crunchy tortilla covered in layer of refried beans and covered with lettuce, meat, cheese and salsa. I enjoyed the atmosphere, colorful travelogue pictures and would like to share a mixed plate of the seafood. I wish Chacahua luck, and would also like to visit the place that inspired it.

Taco lunch special and a skirt steak Huarche special.

These folks have excellent food and service. Lots of variety on a lunch special menu. Upon walking in you immediately notice how clean and well kept the restaurant is too. Diverse menu with a focus on Oaxaca style seafood cooking but if you're up for a taqueria style meal- they've got that covered too. Sauces are homemade even bits of avacado in the green sauce.

AMAZING FRESH AUTHENTIC FOOD! Been here 3 or 4 X's already. PRICES ARE WONDERFUL for the AMAZING QUALITY & Generous portions!!! Staff are allll so friendly and accomadating . They have amazing lunch specials which we can't wait to try next. Owner chef sooo happy to greet and say hello to his clientele when not cooking up STELLAR FOOD! There is nothing even similar in Highland Park or Highwood to his type of food. You won't be disappointed. Everything is Very Fresh and even the tortillas are homemade! Love this restaurant

Taco de Arrachera/ Skirt Steak I added rice and beans to "make it a meal"

While I can't attest to the ambience of this restaurant, I can 100% recommend the food. My husband and I have ordered delivery twice from this place and every dish we've tried has been outstanding. There's an emphasis on seafood which we love but also a full range of meat dishes. Ingredients are fresh and well prepared. My husband says we're going to have to try every dish!

Fantastic food. The servers were nice, it took a hot minute for the food to come out but it was well worth it.

Plenty of parking space. Restaurant is spacious and clean. We had a very early dinner so we were able to choose our table. Not many customers but by the time we finished eating, more people came in. Pleasantly surprised to be served Ceviché, salsa, and chips right away since we did not order it. Even better, it was complimentary. Nice touch!! Had the Cantaritos Special. Great presentation!! It's a fruit drink with Tajín and Tamarind. A mini bottle of Tequila is laced with what tasted like Chamoy. It was delicious!! My new favorite drink!! Our food was delivered quickly. We ordered the Shrimp Empanadas with Mozzarella Cheese. Intrigued as I thought it was a weird combination. What an excellent pairing!! Generous portions of Shrimp and gooey Mozzarella Cheese dipped in a sauce that tasted like Thousand Island Dressing. So good!! My husband ordered the Huachinango Diabla. Crispy Red Snapper on the outside and moist, flaky on the inside. Diabla sauce complimented the fish very well. Mild and a touch of sweetness. I had the Mendigo Special. Wow!! So much depth of flavor in the savory soup that had generous portions of seafood; octopus, shrimp, and crab (imitation). Topping of cilantro, onions, and avocado all enhanced the already flavorful soup. The dish comes with this buttery, soft, warm bread to soak up the delicious soup. I would definitely recommend and will be coming back soon as everything tasted so delicious!!

We have wanted to try Miramar for a long time based on reputation and reviews, so we booked it for our 30th wedding anniversary dinner. TL/DR, food was only ok, service was attentive, but overall experience was disappointing. Selected "anniversary" on the Open Table reservation...and added in the notes that it was our 30th. Nonetheless, nobody said a word about either when we were greeted or seated. Sigh. When we ordered two glasses of champagne, the server asked if we were celebrating. Yes, we were...and were surprised nobody knew... Our meal was fine but only fine. Had the mushroom soup and endive salad, both specials, both pretty good (and the salad big enough to share). She ordered the salmon, I had the lamb shank (both on the menu). I like my food hot...and I am as a result confident that I have never written this before...the food came really hot. TOO hot. Inediblly hot. Both dishes, and especially the lamb. Once it cooled down enough to be edible, the lamb shank and basil whipped potatoes and vegetables were good (dried out a little from the heat?); the salmon was only ok and a little fishy tasting. Her glass of Pinot Grigio was quite nice; mine of Bordeaux was delicious, but served surprisingly warm for a restaurant/glass at this price point -- I'd have expected them to have a proper wine refrigerator. Then, finally... We asked about, and then decided not to have a dessert. The server was kind to bring us a well intentioned delivery of two glasses of prosecco (which we didn't drink --- had already had a champagne and a glass of wine) and asked if we'd like that dessert after all to have with it. We said "sure." They then charged us for the dessert... For the record, our server was kind and attentive and professional, and the rest of the team were equally so. But, in summary, for a pretty aggressive price point, this was a disappointing experience on a night we hoped would be special. Perhaps we're victims of a holiday weekend meal...we're hoping ours isn't a typical experience.

Family & Crab is conveniently located right off Grand Ave and has been beautifully renovated to a modern restaurant with a seafood theme. We visited right when the restaurant opened and the place was super clean. Since we were there to celebrate a birthday, we ordered one of the family platters consisting of crab legs, shrimp, sausage, corn and potatoes. For a party of six we had more than enough food. We easily could've had two more people with us for a platter this size. The sauce was delicious as well and ranges in spice level. I will say that the seasoning was quite heavy so it was a bit on the saltier side while I prefer a heavy garlic flavor, but overall nothing to complain about. The kitchen seemed to be very accommodating so if you just told them how you prefer your sauce and seasoning I'm sure it won't be an issue. We also ordered the fried oysters as an appetizer and a simple veggie fried rice to go with the boil. The fried oysters were perfectly crisp and came out hot. I will say that the breading is more flaky, kind of like a tempura. The oyster itself was not overcooked or chewy either. Service was wonderful and super helpful at explaining the menu and what was recommended. She even brought us a complimentary cheesecake slice for the birthday celebrant. Overall, this was a great experience and I highly recommend for anyone craving seafood boil in the area to save yourself the drive and come here!

They added an enclosed outdoor seating area, Thats lets you enjoy the breeze or sun, but protects you from the rain. It used to be a tent, so this is definitely nicer. My wife and I were seated immediately. The server quickly brought us water and garlic bread. I really like that they give you 5 fairly big pieces of garlic bread for only two people. Nice touch. We were not in a hurry and couldn't decide what we wanted so we started with the calamari salad. $29, but it's huge and chock full of those calamari guys. Lettuce is always crisp and has everything I like in it (olives, eggs, carrots, artichoke, peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, and romaine lettuce). We were almost full just from the salad alone. I ordered a grouper sandwich (not fried), and my lovely wife ordered the Scottish salmon plate, which comes with potatoes and grilled vegetables. My sandwich came with coleslaw and fresh cut fries. They switched to fresh cut since my last visit, and this was an upgrade. My sandwich was great, and huge too. Could not finish it. Wife's meal was a humongous slab of salmon. The veggies now come on a smaller plate, but that's okay, given the size of the fish. Service was a tad slow, but like I said, we weren't in any hurry. Total tab was $100, with tax and that pesky 3% service fee. I really enjoyed the food and the ambiance. It's not a place I can go every week, but when I can splurge, and have a taste for fresh seafood, this is the best around.

We headed there for Happy Hour, which runs from 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM and is definitely on the short side! We actually thought we'd be the only "early birders," but the bar area filled up surprisingly fast, so clearly this happy hour is popular with the locals. Sophia offers a fantastic $10 Happy Hour menu featuring cocktails, beer, wine, and five appetizers. Between the two of us, we ordered four of the five appetizers offered, and honestly, every single one was a hit. The Potato Croquettes were incredibly light and fluffy, the Ahi Tuna Crisp was absolutely delicious, and the Nashville Chicken Bites packed great flavor. The Meatball Sliders were another standout -- flavorful and juicy, and actually held together instead of falling apart after the first bite! To make the evening even more special, the bartender heard we were celebrating our anniversary and surprised us by comping a dessert: the Sticky Toffee Bread Pudding. Absolutely delicious and the perfect sweet ending to our meal. Even better, our total bill came in under $100! I highly recommend @Sophia Steak's Happy Hour if you're looking for affordable yet classy dining in Lake Forest. Next time, we'll definitely be back to try dinner.

Review of Sophia's in Lake Forest…read more We arrived at Sophia's in Lake Forest last Friday night, a location we've frequented numerous times, and I've always enjoyed excellent food. Our favorite dish is the tomahawk steaks, and we prefer to sit in the round booths to easily talk to everyone. I made the reservations weeks in advance for a special occasion, booking a table for three. Upon our arrival, the gentleman at the front desk had us seated at a middle table between the bar and the high-traffic area of the bathrooms and waiting staff, despite my request for a round booth. I was told that the round booths were unavailable and the booths along the walls were reserved for larger groups. Ironically, we noticed that the booths were filled with parties of two and three throughout the evening, contrary to what we had been told. Our waiter was terrific, as usual, and the food was very good overall. However, the tomahawk steaks were disappointing. We ordered them cooked medium, but they arrived overcooked on the outside and raw in the middle, which was extremely underwhelming. We chose not to address this with our waiter, as he was quite busy, and I didn't want to spoil the mood of our special occasion. Overall, while the service and the atmosphere remain top-notch, the inconsistency with our seating request and the preparation of the tomahawk steaks left us feeling less than satisfied.
