I spec'd this car out, had it custom built and bought most of the parts direct from two sources that provide high quality parts that are either NOS or OEM quality. I furnished over $60,000 in parts. So with the background, back to House of Hotrods. I called to see about having the heater box and all contents replaced. I have all the correct parts, not cheap, bought from the two sources above in the last year. This includes a brass and copper heater core and all gaskets and new mounting clips and rubber. I spoke with Beth, who explained they will do NO WORK with customer furnished parts. They are unknown quality, or something to that effect, is what she told me. She was going to have her boss call me. To date no one has called me. I am unclear if that is the owner or the shop foreman. My car is a nut and bolt full restoration. It was built to my specifications, is a life long dream come to life, and I don't just put cheap parts in it. I am attaching photos so all can see. So here is my take on this business, having gone through having the car built, sorting out all of the gremlins that the builder did not address in the build and getting it to where I can drive it anytime I want in warm weather. So what this business is saying, in MY OPINION, is that they want to control purchasing and installing parts from THEIR vendors, who I don 't know, add their mark up to the unknown quality (unknown to me) part, and install it. Anyone who does a full restoration on a classic car does it as a labor of love. A car they have dreamed about for years, literally. These people may do good work, I never got the chance to find out. But they fall short in customer service, keeping a simple promise to return a call, and not even looking at what parts I am supplying. I promise they are NOT cheap. Why do you want to let any vendor take your right to determine what parts you want installed? They get paid for labor, and not the standard shop rate, it is much higher than that. I accept that, am willing to pay it. The car in the pictures should be proof of that. I have never gotten a warranty in any of the work done on my Camaro. Nor do I expect one, including this repair. I simply want quality work and to have heat in the coming winter. I am going to reference this experience to any one I talk to. Everyone who wants to know about restoration process and who I DON'T recommend. I don't recommend House of Hotrods. Find a builder who will build your car the way you want it. With the parts you want to use. After all it is YOUR car.

I asked about diagnostics informing them that I had already performed my own diagnostics having owned a automotive shop in the 1990s but being 65 with disc degeneration from C3 to C7 along with my eyesight not so good anymore I needed some more capable fresh eyes on the matter with regards to the CEL & perhaps performing a smoke test & isolating a vacuum leak which was causing the Emissions system, specifically the purge circuit for the charcoal canister to fail registering with a code. I informed them that I had already ferreted it out with the TSB's & confirmed that the fuel filler neck had been replaced as per a warranty recall but that instead of a hard plastic Teflon vacuum line there was a fuel line in place which I suspect it was collapsing upon evacuation of the purge system "call". I also informed them that I had already replaced the fuel cap, the purge valve, with items from Amazon, & the dealer without the issue resolving itself. I also informed them that I had a iCarSoft along with a LAUNCH CRP, EQUUS 3140 INNOVA & an ACTRON CP9410 scanner tools & that I was able to read, clear & monitor in real time the issue with regards to the CEL. They came back & said they don't work on old cars.... Or that they quit working on cars that old a couple years ago. Which is just bullshit. If you go to their site Facebook page or otherwise, even their ad/advertisement shows a C Class, W203 car that they claim to have worked on which is exactly what my daughter's car is. They just don't want customers like me that know what they're talking about because they won't be able to take advantage of me & now they refuse to even respond to me over chat. I even gave them the chance to say just let me know that "I'm one of THOSE customers, & that you don't really wanna deal with people like me" but they're fucking cowards & therefore they're liars because they don't want to tell the truth. I wouldn't deal with liars if I were you .

I provided them with the diagnostic from Sewell, which clearly indicated that my vehicle needed a new AC condenser and both rear wheel bearings. After a week in the shop, I was informed that the AC was still not working and that my car had developed a new "screeching" noise that was not present prior to service. I later learned that instead of replacing the AC condenser, as the diagnostic indicated, they replaced the AC compressor. Great Motors then charged an additional $188 to re-diagnose the same issue, when it was their mistake that they replaced the AC compressor instead of the condenser. Their misunderstanding of the difference between these AC parts resulted in an additional hundreds of dollars!! Unfortunately, this experience left me with a car that was incorrectly repaired, unnecessary additional fees and concerns about both the accuracy of their work and accountability. While I wanted to support a local business, I cannot recommend Great Motors based on this unsatisfactory outcome.

We payed and as we were leaving the engine light was still on. They pulled the code, and it was pulling the same code it was that they claim they fixed. They said drive it for the weekend if it's still on, bring it back to us Monday morning. Called them Monday morning. The manager gave me the runaround telling me there's many reasons your engine light can be on. Even though it's still pulling the same code they claimed they fixed. Talking to me like I'm stupid. They will not fix the problem, nor will they give us our money back. We were charged 375.00$ for "labor" 151.86$ for "parts" 21.07$ shop supplies. And taxes of course... Moral of the story they got paid $562.21 for them to do nothing. Thank you for nothing.
