I went here for the first time two days ago for a gel manicure which lasts two weeks and 3 of my nails already chipped!

This is my spot! My nail technician, Kim, always does a great job. Calm and relaxing environment.

I had a great experience with Stephanie. I came to the salon ~6 times in the spring and summer of 2021. I always wore a mask, and so did she, and anyone else working. I got my eyebrows done once, otherwise it was almost always a dip polish mani and gel pedi. The scents and scrubs were really nice for the pedicures, and very relaxing. Stephanie was really thorough and meticulous when shaping my nails. She does a ton of nail art, which you can see on their Instagram account. I got to meet her daughter too, who is awesome, as well as her sister-in-law, I think. It is a family-own and run business, and they all take great pride in the shop. The color selection is limited, especially if you want to match gel and dip colors for toes/fingers. But Stephanie always had a great recommendation, and I was always happy with how they looked. The parking situation is amazing, especially after many years of getting my nails done in Philly, and then moving to Jersey so having to drive in and do street parking in Old City. Stephanie was also great about working around my schedule and would actually meet me there earlier than opening at times to fit me in before walk-ins started happening. I did sometimes have to wait a bit, but since there are only a couple of nail artists serving a completely unpredictable number of walk-ins, along with appointments, which happens in every nail salon (unless they staff a dozen people, in which means a slow day = no pay/profits.) So I get it: just leave yourself a little extra time if you can! A lot of the negative reviews address the quality of the interior and/or upkeep; my opinion is they were doing things as cleanly and keeping things as sanitary as they could. The decor might be a little dated compared to what people are used to, but I appreciate the authenticity of the people, and the quality of the service and care, over decor any day. read more

As I am a black woman, the first questions she (I believe her name is Stephanie) asked when I sat to do my pedicure were: "how long did it take to do your hair?" And "how long does it last?" Not even my name. That was literally the first thing she asked. The two other women (one employee and one customer) turned to look and didn't say anything. The lady working on my nails didn't say anything else either for minutes. For context, I have twist extensions in. Then, I sat down to do my manicure. The lady told me to give her my card to pay. She was in the middle of filing my nails before adding any polish. For context, I was getting a full set. And before even finishing filling them down, she asked me to pay. After she had charged my card, she started rushing to fulfill other customers desires before my service was complete. One girl walked in and needed her acrylic nails removed and a manicure. The lady doing my nails interrupted my service to start working on her. Before she finished my manicure, the lady left to attend to this other girl, about five times, extending my stay longer than intended. I've been to salons many times, and I get my nails done often, and I've never had my nail tech leave me to go start working on somebody else. s just obviously rude and unprofessional. To both me and the girl you had soaking her nails for 45 minutes. Then when it was finally time to add polish, she put on too much I'm assuming to finish quicker. This was a mistake on her part, because it started drying unevenly and lumpy, and she had to remove the polish from all the nails and start again. Overall, I would just say to not pay until your service is complete and you're happy with it because I know what I would not have gotten any money back if I asked for it, even though she left my nails looking sloppy. The lady even said that I can come back for her to fix it but because of her mistake it doesn't look good. She even tried to say it didn't look good because I was moving my hands. My advice to this salon would be to pay more attention to the customer in front of you. Don't ask me to pay any amount of money in advance when you can't pay attention to me when I'm right in front of you Also, you are very unprofessional. You need to improve the functionality of your company. Because of how YOU operate, I wasted my time and money. And stop asking black women about their hair. read more

I was a repeat customer at TLC and was severely disappointed on the day before my wedding. I called to make an appointment with Kim, who was going to be out the day that I needed to come in so Stephanie told me to come every other day but the day that I needed to have my nails done. I let her know that I was getting married and specifically needed to get them done the day before. In any event, after suggesting every day but the day I needed, she then asked me if I wanted to add waxing too. If I wanted that service, I would have requested it. I then show up for my appointment and a tech whom I didn't know started my pedicure (which by the way I didn't want, I just wanted a polish change but then was coerced to get a full pedicure. So, I did. On to the refill. This woman not only cut my finger she then messed up my french manicure so bad - the silver line was not matching up or even. The tips were all different sizes and she buzzed my thumbnail down to nothing. I told her repeatedly that it was not matching up and then she kept attempting to fix it, making it worse. I was so upset, I paid my $85 dollar tab and then told the owner that I was completely unhappy and just wanted the French manicure re-done. She then argued with me and told me that I should have told the tech while she was doing it (I did) and that if I wanted the color changed, they'd have to start all over again (Oh, well) and refused to take the color off. She then attempted to repair the mess that was on my nails and painted the french tip so thick that it took half of my nail up. Unacceptable. Needless to say, I sent to another nail salon and asked them to re-do the color- which they did, no questions asked - just a smile and understanding. I always go here to get my eyebrows done. I only get Stephanie (the owners). Not that would recommend anyone else there, I've never tried anyone else. She knows me and knows exactly what I want She's pleasant and accommodating. I would definitely recommend her shop! read more

Wow my experience at TLC Nails was unlike any other nail salon I've been to. I'm in my 30's so I've had many, many manicures in my life and this was WAY below standards. The place is gross. Dusty, out dated, not clean. My "manicurist" argued with me about the color I chose for my polish and refused to paint my nails that color. She suggested that she paint the color I chose, then a second hideous color she chose on top of it. I've never ever heard of such a bizarre thing. I was asked 7 times in 40 mins if I wanted my eyebrows waxed. Just no. Don't do it. Turn around and go anywhere else. read more

Tlc Nail Spa - this was AFTER my "manicure " - Nail Salons Near Me - Mantua, New Jersey

I went to this salon a couple of years ago and was really not impressed with the set up or service. Stopped in again recently due to a time crunch and was honestly scared I was going to catch something. Everything was old and very used, the rags were all torn, falling apart, grey and dingy looking. The whole place smelled like it looked. I could not help but wonder how ppl are still regularly going in there? However, when I went to pay, it seemed like the price was high, so as soon as I was in my car, I called and asked for pricing on the same exact service I just received. The woman gave me the quote (which was lower) so I asked, "then why did you just charge me 'x'? I just paid and you told me my total was .... why the up charge?" The lady who answered, was the woman who just completed my services, and she was caught completely off guard, apologized and said if I came back they would fix it. No, just keep it. So, if the dirtiness of the salon isn't enough to keep you away, please ask for the pricing up front. I won't say they deserve zero stars because my nails did look nice. read more

I am only giving them an extra star because i am satisfied with my fingernails. My toe nails are not what i wanted at all and my eyebrows don't match. I am very upset with this because I am a maid of honor in a wedding in 2 days and there is really no fix for my eyebrows. My friend came with me and they ended up adding on an extra $30 than she anticipated- they try to sell you extra services the whole time without telling you the prices or they tell you the wrong prices. I have been coming to this nail salon for about 8 years now. They have the best customer service and the staff is very friendly and willing to do what ever it takes to make you happy. They do a great job on the pedicures and love the different types they have. I do tend to get just the basic one but I do get the Lavender Pedicure once in a while and it feels fabulous. The manicures are just so relaxing for me. They have a variety of different Gel colors, and I love the Cat's Eye, and the Chromes colors too. The salon is clean and the prices are very reasonable. When I leave I just feel fabulous about my nails. read more

My first time at this nail salon and definitely will be the last. I waited 35 minutes to get a pedicure and my daughter a manicure. The nail polish was cheap and old. The place was filthy and my water was cold. We attempted to leave and felt like we were held hostage to stay. They used what look like a shared foot brush (gross) and i never received any sort of massage during the pedicure. It was not relaxing by any means. When my Daughter was done she hated her nails. You could see her nail through the polish and it was already chipping. She wanted glitter polish on one nail, they put it on two. It was just an overall awful experience. read more

I had to rate this establishment one star because I can't rate it zero stars. I recently moved to NJ from GA and I suppose my expectations are too high. I waited over an hour with my feet in cold water before someone even glanced my way. Horrific experience, not at all impressed. read more
