Jessie made sure with me throughout the appointment if I was okay with what she had recommended. She knew exactly where she wanted to start my layers and even took the time to show me how to style my hair on my own as well! At the previous hair salon they would thin out my hair so so much. Yes, it did feel lighter but often times I'd leave the appointment feeling as though they had thinned it out way too much. Jessie made sure not to thin it and even told me herself since I already had thin wavy hair it was best to avoid that. She mainly focused on using scissors rather than thinning blades to give me the layers I've wanted. Results came out amazing and I did not leave worried about how much hair I may have lost. The hairstyle she gave me is very easy to maintain as well as she assured me it would look fine as it grows out as well. So excited to go back and try out maybe a different style of bangs with her! Overall my experience with her was amazing, she was sweet, also had a nice little Korean drama on for me to watch. I tend to yap and she made sure to have some small talk while focusing on the haircut. This has been my best experience in terms of outcome and financial. I previously had a bayalage…read moreand a couple of partial highlights. However, you have to keep bleaching to keep the roots fresh and color grey hairs. My hair was dry and brassy, needed dimensions, deep conditioning, and toning. I needed a lowlight or reverse bayalage. I checked Groupons to save money but sometimes you're not getting their best work because it's cheaper and they're not getting as much money or sometimes they charge more for long hair etc. I even got turned away by one color expert called "Hair by Christopher" on Groupons who told me after looking at pictures of my hair, he responded "It's more work than I want to take on.I don't feel comfortable taking it on. Sorry." He claims he a color expert and had good reviews but he was not compassionate nor caring about my situation. Anyways, I checked yelp instead. I reached out to as many stylists I could that would respond right away, educate me, would answers my questions and had good reviews. I wasn't sure if anyone was going to be able to save my hair but I knew I needed lowlights and never had one plus I didn't want to lose all my highlights either. Vivian knew what I needed and what I wanted after communicating with her and sending pics etc. She wanted to work with me and gave me a better deal than Groupon and most stylists. She listened. Her technique is also a true balayage that blends seamlessly and gives hair wonderful dimension, and I'm impressed by her ability to lighten hair in one setting then toning to get Asian hair to a more ashy, cool-toned since Asian black-brown hair tends to pull red/orangey by nature. You can see her work on instagram @hair_by_na_na She uses super quality products too like schwarzkopf and olaplex. I left with my hair feeling really soft and healthy despite the bleaching. I also like hearing from stylists what they recommend as maintenance. She was very thorough and detailed with her aftercare tips! - No shampooing for 3 days (she said water only is ok - not too cold or hot). This allows the cuticles to close while the color is getting deposited into your hair. - Start using a purple shampoo in 3 weeks to help keep brassiness at bay. - Use sulfate-free colored hair friendly shampoo/conditioner like Pureology. - Use something like Olaplex or K18 to keep hair strong and healthy. - In 2 months, come back for toning to refresh color. My balayage and cut took about 4.5 hours. Nana and Sean work together with the foiling and painting so it speeds things up. She listened to what I wanted without any judgment or pressure to steer me toward a different outcome.
