Combo meal of beef kaldareta and bopis
    Patrick L.

This restaurant is located inside H‑E‑B. They have seating areas after ordering. This is a "turo turo" (point point) style like in a cafeteria where you point to the dish you want. This is a no frills place that offers delicious food. They offer Philippine dishes including the popular lechon (suckling pig) belly only on Saturdays and Sundays. We ordered the combo meal with beef kaldereta (beef short ribs stew) and bopis (minced pork innards). They have a lot more selections including vegetable dishes, skewers, egg rolls, etc. This is one of our go to places when we are craving for Filipino food. They also offer specialty drinks like sago gulaman, halo halo, and calamansi juice Service is quick. There are plenty of Philippine native food products on the shelves for sale. Try them out if you are in the area.

First time trying Filipino food, and it was so good!! I didn't even know this place existed until I saw an instagram reel. I've been inside of this HEB before, but I never noticed the restaurant, probably because the times that I went it was already closed since it was late at night. There wasn't really a menu, so I just went with the classics - chicken adobo and chicken lumpia. The chicken was super flavorful and tender. The chicken lumpia was so crunchy and delicious. It comes with a dipping sauce. Once I got to the bottom of the styrofoam box though, I realized some of the styrofoam had melted, most likely because they had freshly fried the rolls and placed it into the box, so it was piping hot. As I was waiting for my chicken lumpia to come out, I noticed that people usually just order the combo meal which is 2 entrees with a side of rice for $10.99. They have a bunch of protein to choose from. I'll definitely try that next time. The halo halo was everything I imagined it to be. It was so creamy and not too overly sweet. It was refreshing! There's a ton of different toppings at the bottom- red bean, flan, fruit jellies, etc. The ube ice cream was great, and it gave the drink the nice purple color. This spot was pretty busy at the hour I went, but the wait time wasn't too bad since I was having a conversation with a friendly customer. I'll be back again!

Located inside of HEB! The food is masarap. Very good food and location. You can grab some grocery and a meal for the day. We stopped in for Brekky after our cruise and really enjoyed it.

Had lunch with a friend who knows Cebu Lechon. It's my first time here, tucked away inside an HEB grocery store. The menu boasts a wide variety of choices, from classic sinigang to comforting tinola. The ambiance isn't fancy, but the servings are generous and the flavors are surprisingly delightful. They also offer whole Lechon for catering, which I've savored at events and parties. Definitely worth a try...

Hidden gem inside HEB! I can't believe it took me this long to try To-Go Cafe, but it was well worth it. They have all day Filipino breakfast plates, and I like the Cornsilog with Garlic Rice and the Bangsilog, so delicious and reminds me of a home cooked meal. They have many lunch plate options and generous portions as well. Try their Lechon or Lechon Kawali which is also seasoned well and crispy. I also really enjoyed the Pan de Ube (sweet Ube filled rolls), they are soft, fluffy, and the creamy Ube filling is yummy and the best I've had in Houston. The customer service is very friendly and quick, and they also have a small dining area for your quick lunch. To-Go cafe is a must stop if you're in the area and wanting Filipino food. You can even make a grocery run afterwards while you're at it!

Real Filipino (Phillipino) comida food!! Large assortment of tasty foods and pastries too. Made fresh and ready to eat or take-out!! Conveniently located inside a HEB store so you can get your shopping experience done and grab some chow!! Filipinos eating here and making the comida in the back room!! Authentic dishes and pretty good pricing for the portions!! Yummy Yummy for Super Friday before Turkey day!!

If you want "To Go" and find some great Filipino food, look no further. Located inside one of the worst H-E-B locations you could ever visit, this is actually a pretty good Filipino food place, in fact it can be amazing, and one which I tend to stop by now and again, usually with my girlfriend. And while it's not some kind of gourmet Filipino restaurant, not that you'd want it to be as these little stands usually have the best food, it definitely has some treats and some interesting homemade snacks that are well worth the try. In fact, all things considered, I would say this is literally the only reason we will ever come inside such a bad grocery store again.

Excellent Filipino food with tons of flavor and a very reasonable price. Don't be swayed because this restaurant is inside HEB, it's well worth the visit. The food was all fresh and very flavorful! Our whole family thoroughly enjoyed our meal and we had leftovers to take home with us! We waited for some fresh lumpia and it was definitely hot & fresh, but a little heavy on the shrimp. It made it a bit fishy. Overall, the food, service and atmosphere were great and we will definitely be back when we are in the area.

    Caldereta and Lechon
    Maria D.

Came here as soon as I got back in town! As usual food is great but the caldereta seemed bland today. It wasn't as flavorful and vibrantly colored as before. I also got tge lechon paksiw and it was awesome! Hubby got the tocilog and he loved it! I will def come back again to see if the old style caldereta comes back

AUTHENTIC!!! Def a good fix for my Filipino food away from my Dad's cooking! Prices are pretty good for the big servings! Plentiful to choose from and ready to eat! Come hungry, leave full!!!

Great filipino food located inside an HEB. Love that they offer Filipino breakfast all day long. The prices are cheap and love the variety they offer. Fast service! Best place to order party trays too.

Been looking for solid Filipino food. This place blows Max's away. I left very satisfied and comforted. This is going to be my go to Filipino spot. Highly recommend.

Mrs and & I finally made it back to this Filipino cafeteria inside the HEB to try some of the steam table offerings. We went with pork sisig (meat from the head including the ears), veggie pancit (clear noodle), and BBQ pork skewers. We shared with our youngest daughter. Everything were seasoned and cooked well. All the proteins were tender. The family believed this shack has the best tasting Filipino steam table foods in Houston. Lots of options were available. Prices were similar to other steam table shacks. Service was friendly and efficient. Youngest daughter wants to try breakfast plates in the future.

They really did not skimp out on the brisket. It was very delicious and the Mac n cheese was perfectly creamy and decadent. They also pickles, pickled jalapeño, and onions on the side which really cut the fat from the meat. The coleslaw that we got was okay though. Overall, it was a great experience. I've tried those deemed "the best," including Salt Lick in Driftwood and Killen's. So how did CorkScrew measure up? In addition to the beef rib, we tried the moist brisket, pulled pork, and sausage. We also tried several sides, including those recommended in the Michelin review: potato salad, mac and cheese, smokey beans, and coleslaw, and I picked up a peach cobbler, as well. The beef rib: STELLAR. This was outstanding with its flavorful bark and an impossibly tender texture that truly melts in your mouth, unlike any other beef rib I've ever had. Easily the very best beef rib, without a doubt. The brisket was delicious, as well: tender and flavorful. The sausage was nothing special... on par with sausage elsewhere, as was the pork. As for the sides, I've never been a fan of beans, but since the Michelin review specifically mentioned them, I gave them a try. I'm a fan! I would definitely order these again. Their smokiness is gently tamed by a touch of sweetness. The rest? Very average. The mac and cheese tasted like the stuff I had in my elementary school cafeteria - very un-special. The potato salad was salty and was missing any semblance of potato chunks. The texture was oddly like lumpy mashed potatoes. But the other surprise for me: the cobbler. This was simply and divinely perfect with crisp, sweet buttery crumble. A wonderful way to end a hearty meal. I'm so glad I ordered our food online for pickup. When I arrived at 1pm, the line was wrapped around the building. Pickup was very easy: I texted them when I arrived, and they replied when they were ready for me to go in and retrieve it. But even if there wasn't a line, I would never eat there: the restaurant is too divey for me: very rustic, picnic-like feel both inside and out, and it was uncomfortably warm and humid (again, inside and out.) The staff was very friendly and cheerful. Glad i tried it, and when i get a hankering for a good beef rib, this is definitely where I'll be getting it!

I came in to Killen's Barbecue about three days ago with my partner. The restaurant itself was very…read moreclean and organized and despite the line, service was fast, efficient, and friendly. My partner had the brisket sandwich with potato salad and a small helping of pickles and pickled red onions and I had the pulled pork tacos. My partner said the brisket sandwich was okay, but we both agreed that the potato salad was fantastic! The potato salad was way better than the one at Pappas Barbecue. The taste of the pulled pork tacos was great, but it was honestly too wet and made the flour tortillas too soggy and there was way too much coleslaw on top. I feel like if Killen's is going to serve pulled pork tacos there needs to be three things done. 1. Serve the tacos with an option of corn tortillas because I feel corn tortillas would've worked better to give a great contrast/pairing with the sweetness of the pulled pork and sauce. 2. Serve the corn/flour tortillas on the side so that they don't get soggy and wet. 3. There are some things that just don't belong on a taco of any kind and that's coleslaw. My partner and I also tasted the banana pudding and to say it was divine is an understatement. What I really like about this pudding was that you could taste real bananas in this pudding and it had been mixed well all together. Our total was $80 after tipping, which is a little pricey for some of the items, but honestly I would definitely come back to Killen's Barbecue when I was in the mood for barbecue.

Don't follow the menu!!! You can order any amount that you want. The ambiance is spacious...,they have a bar area and plenty of seating so you do not feel overcrowded. Parking is ample and no issue at this location. They do not sell Nachos, I just buy the meat for my homemade Nachos. lol.

The brisket itself was good, but next time I'd definitely request lean meat. The jalapeño sausage was the standout for me -- really flavorful and highly recommended. The cornbread and potato salad were both solid sides and complemented the meal well. The biggest downside was the BBQ sauce selection. The sauces leaned way too sweet for my taste. I tried the coffee bourbon sauce and personally did not like it at all. Overall, some really good food items, but the sauces were a miss for me.
