Its always a frustrated time when you lose your keys. You expect and want service now. I feel for tbe types of calls he gets on a daily expecting now service. He's only one man and with his fair and honest pricing it keeps him busy. I have to remind my self. Toad didn't lose my keys, I did. I had a 'stuck' ignition on my older Honda (a known issue for my make and model). I contacted my regular mechanic. He said I needed an 'automotive locksmith', and recommended Toad's. I called, and explained my problem. The 'gentlemen' I spoke to was very gruff and unfriendly. He said I needed to "get a real mechanic", and that if he had to come out and service my car, that he was going to "charge me through the roof!". They may be great service providers, but I didn't appreciate the unprofessional attitude of the employee I spoke with. I had no trouble finding another service provider that took great care of my problem. I can't recommend Toad's, based solely on very poor customer interaction. read more

Worst experience of my life. The Key guy Horace Seal "Toad" was rude. Not only did my key quit working one week later and now he wont take my calls and fix it. He yelled at me and said hed loose to much money if he warrantied his work. After telling my neighbor about the problem I'm having he told me this guy made a copy to his nephews car and the car never started and is at the dealer because his new car wont run and this business has no insurance to cover it. James explained why it it wears out and set me up to so it doesnt do it again. Even the little things from give me the right key ring so i dont break the keys as easily. Went to valley plaza to get my two car keys programmed, the machine wasn't working so the gentleman recommended "Toad's Lock and Key" since he couldn't get the job done. My husband and I arrive at the location, the old man with gray hair ended up being a rude ass and mentioned he wasn't sure if he could program them, but would "charge us up the ass" if he was able to program them , which caused us to leave instead of getting any work done from him. I was convinced the nice gentleman from valley plaza wouldn't recommend someone with such shitty service, so I called the number for "toads lock and key" just in case it wasn't the right pop up truck we originally went to, turns out it was the same place and the old man is the brother in law to the guy who owns this company , I was informed by the owner when he answered the phone. So I mentioned how rude the old man was (I believe his name was Rick) , just for the owner to tell me "well it's because he doesn't like programming other people's keys. You people have to understand that we lose around $2,000-$4,000 just by programming other people's keys." That doesn't justify being rude as fuck to paying customers , you're still making your money either way, are you not ? So why choose to be rude and run easy money away ? Only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 is because the owner mentioned he or his daughter would be willing to do the job , just on certain days when they work and not when the old man is there. I think they'd do better without the old man being rude to everyone who chooses to bring their own keys to get programmed . Only way I would ever consider going back to that place is if that old man isn't there . These guys are great - fast, responsive, and well-priced. We needed a replacement key for our new car, which came without a spare. The Dodge dealership quoted me an arm and a leg just for the key, and tacked on a programming charge. Toad's service can do chip-key programming, and they have a mobile service in addition to their stationary truck site on Union & Belle Terrace. Toad charged me about 1/4 of what the Dodge dealer charged and made and programmed the new key in less than 10 minutes. Very polite, straightforward, pleasant. I highly recommend that anyone needing locksmithing services, ESPECIALLY chip-keys for cars, contact these folks. I came here and was helped by two young ladies. When I arrived I asked for 2 key duplicates. They said it would take a few minutes. I asked if they could take credit card they said no, but told me there was a nearby gas station and casino that had ATMs. I said fine. I was in a hurry because I had an appointment at my sons school. I went to the ATM their ATM was down. I ran over to the casino their internet was down! Ugh I ran back to the key place to tell them that I would just come back later for the keys because I couldn't get any cash, and by now I was running late for my sons appt. They then said "we'll we DO have a card reader, we will just let you pay by card." IF THEY HAD A CARD READER THE ENTIRE TIME WHY DID THEY MAKE ME RUN AROUND BACK AND FORTH WASTING TIME ONLY TO TELL ME : "we do have a card reader"?? What should have been a 5 min process turned into a stressful 20 min of wasted time!! I got my keys but Needless to say I was late for my appt!! Not the way to treat customers! read more
