I've been wanting to go to toast culture for quite some time now. I've heard good things. We went at 1 o'clock on a Thursday and was excited that they were still serving brunch menu items until 3 o'clock. I love that they have many vegetarian options. I also love that they have local coffee from Columbia. I ordered the eggs Benny with avocado (they didn't charge extra for a vegetarian substitute which I appreciated) It was tasty and so was the coffee. they also have pizza with many vegetarian options as well. Note, they have a baby change table in the bathroom I would recommend for brunch and coffee.

Millennials like to eat avocado toast. This has been the joke for the past few years. (Although it's not really a joke at all because avocado toast is delicious and I guess it took millennials to figure that out?) It would be a pretty smart business model to capitalize on this trend, would it not? Enter Toast Culture, who did exactly that. Open since 2019 in Oliver, they saw what the people wanted and they were prepared to give it to them. The restaurant is also affiliated with Coast Lunch Box, a food truck that I often see at various festivals around the city. Named one of the Best New Restaurants on CBC Edmonton's Best Restaurants 2019 list, Toast Culture had been on my radar on a while and I was eager to finally check them out. I visited first thing on a Saturday morning and there were still other patrons enjoying an early breakfast along side me. The room is modern and spacious with plenty of natural light. The esthetic is every bit what would be expected from a restaurant with today's taste; concrete walls, subway tile, pendant lighting - the perfect marriage between rustic and industrial. It's a pretty consistent atmosphere these days but it feels good. They've got one of those massively long communal tables in the center of the room (of course they do) and I popped myself onto one of the metal stools in anticipation of my meal. Our server was friendly and happy to answer all of my questions. To start, I perused the menu of locally roasted coffee and settled on a Mocha ($5.50), always a favourite of mine. Complete with a little bit of latte art, this mocha felt like a warm morning hug. The coffee at Toast Culture comes from The Colombian, a celebrated local coffee bar and roastery. Upon my first sip I was filled with a sense of comfort and I really enjoyed their take on this drink. Perfectly balanced with coffee and chocolate, this mocha was an ideal example of how this beverage should be made. Toast Culture certainly focuses their menu on TOAST. This should be obvious. However, there are some other options on the menu if, for some reason, you went to a toast restaurant looking for something else. They do a full brunch daily that involves benedicts and waffles, as well as salads, and even a reuben sandwich that looks quite good. There's also pizza which is made by Birch & Bear Pizza, who shares the same space. All of this is to say: There are options beyond toast... But you likely came for the toast. The very first thing on the "Toast Bar" part of the menu is "The Avocado," because like I said, they understood the assignment. However, I thought that I would make things a bit more interesting and went for the Avocado B.L.T. (Meuwly's capicola, arugula, tomato, guacamole & basil aioli on sourdough - $15.00), because if you know anything about me, I appreciate a classic BLT. I also added a poached egg for $1.50 and asked for it to be cooked medium. Running a bread-focused restaurant meant that Toast Culture knew that they needed to bring in the big guns and all of the bread used comes from local favourite Bon Ton Bakery. I liked seeing that they were aware that harnessing the power of other well-established businesses would only give them a leg up. This next-level avocado toast was full of flavour and packed with fresh ingredients. The salty and delicious capicola from Meuwly's was one of the best parts - I only wish that there had been more! The arugula and tomato were wonderfully bright, key components in a BLT. And the base layer of avocado brought the whole thing back to what we're really trying to accomplish here: avocado toast. The egg on top was a nice addition, however it was over-cooked and I didn't get any of the desired runny golden yolk. Next I absolutely had to try the Ahi Tuna Poke Toast (Soy glazed ahi tuna, kimchi slaw, cucumbers, pickled onion, & basil aioli on multigrain - $15.00), which is the item that was demanding that I order it the most. This one was the winner for me. Not only was it plated gorgeously with a rainbow of colours, but everything about this plate worked. The ahi tuna itself was beautifully marinated and full of flavour with a nice sprinkling of black sesame seeds for added punch. I loved the bright pink, tart-sweet pickled onion and cucumbers for a fresh crunch. I found that the kimchi slaw got a little bit lost but there was so much going on here that I'm sure it was playing a bigger role than I realized in the overall flavour profile. I found the thick-cut bread to be very crusty which made cutting through a bit of a challenge. This dish was fun and exciting to me and quite unique. A must-try for sure. Toast Culture was everything that I had hoped it would be and I would love to return to try some of the other toasts and probably a few sandwiches. If this is the direction of millennial cuisine, I am not mad at it. The food was very fresh, stunningly presented, and I loved the hyper-local approach to all of their ingredients. This is a business that you can feel

I've been wanting to go here for months. Toast is one of my favorite foods. On a lazy Saturday we were looking for somewhere to have coffee and a nibble. Due to covid we were set on finding somewhere we could sit outside. Driving around we saw Toast Culture with tables outside. The table service extends to the patio. I had the basic toast with jam and coffee, it was delightfully satisfying. My companion had a benedict that came on a thick slab of toast. It was delicious and the little tomato side was fresh and bursting with tomatoey onion flavour. Definitely plan to go back and try a few more things. Street parking out front.

A toast to great food! I haven't been to this restaurant but just happened to come across their 'new' food truck - Coast Lunchbox! Straight from Victoria BC, it's the trucks first time in Edmonton area this summer A 3-person manned food truck bringing delicious coastal goods to a neighbourhood near you I tried the jerk chicken bacon naan wrap with fries. Best. Fries. Ever! Super crunchy, just salty enough with a little spice and nice aoli dip. The naan wrap was so soft and delicious, hugging juicy jerk chicken and crunchy slaw filling. Yum! Looking forward to trying a few more items from this place! Follow them on twitter for location updates!

Toast Culture expands on the avacado toast concept to create a "toast adventure" Toast Culture serves artisan breads from Bon Ton bakery and locally roasted coffee. The menu has a variety options for everyone! You can find them under the Pearl Tower condos on Jasper ave.

What a great venue for our ladies night out. The parking was easy and close, which for downtown is an extra nice perk. They have a great selection of wine and beer, I particularly like that there was a decent selection of craft beer. A neat beverage a couple of us got was the beermosa, which used a draught beer, blackberry and mango juice... and it was delightful! Would definitely recommend it! And it's priced about the same as just getting a beer that's on tap. And the menu item that all of the group was most drawn to was the artisan pizzas. Unique, well crafted, and they had a good selection of flavors. The party favourite was the weekly pizza which had smoked meats, aged cheese, bbq sauce and this to die for lemon vinegar dressed arugula. Second choice was the potato, capicola and truffle oil- hot dang this was an amazingly combined pizza! So glad it's on the regular menu to stay! We also tried the toast flight which was a fun item, I heard the bread comes from Bon Ton Bakery, which we are huge fans of that place so it's neat to see a partner up with their products. The simple but not so simple avocado toast was the best one of the bunch, great flavour and lots of avocado so good! I got an interesting jar of fermented jalapeño sauce that is made in house so I'm quite intrigued to give it a try! The only thing to mention is the seating needs a bit more cushion haha but other than that this place is super cool and worth checking out. It's only recently opened in June or July of 2019 too so well done!

My co-worker and I stopped into Toast Culture on opening day. Service was relatively smooth for the first day open and the restaurant was about half full at noon. You place and pay for your order before selecting where you'd like you sit. After you've placed your order, they take your name and hand you a cute little name card, so they know how to find you once your toast is ready. The decor in the restaurant has a very industrial feel and relatively casual. The staff is quite friendly and our water glasses were filled regularly without having to ask. It took about 15 minutes for our orders to arrive to our toast. I ordered the Avocado BLT and my co-worked had the Smoked Salmon. Presentation was on point and our plates looked stunning. The smoked salmon came on multigrain bread and all the vegetable toppings looks super fresh! And my avocado BLT was perfect; it came with the most delicious piece of Meuwly's capicola with guacamole and amazing basil aioli sauce with a lots of arugula and heirloom tomatos on the side... or on top of the potato sourdough, depending how you look at it. I would definitely order this again! The portion sizes at first looked a bit deceiving and I was unsure whether it would be filling enough, as my toast just came served on one slice of bread; however, I was quite full until it was dinner time! Because my toast was served on a potato sourdough, it was quite dense and filling. The avocado BLT, came topped with a balance of ingredients from all the food groups, so this one is a good way to hit a variety of everything you need for the day! I would definitely come back again and Toast Culture is definitely worth a visit! Everything is fresh and they source a lot of ingredients from local businesses. I don't think there is a whole lot of parking in the area, as it is usually tight around the downtown area, but it was definitely a pleasant walk from my office and perfect for a warm day!

Cool new spot that opened up on Jasper Ave. One of the owners used to run Jack's Grill (one of my favourite spots back in the day when it was still open). This restaurant is all about toast and pizza. We ordered the buttermilk waffles for our little one...it was so-so (my wife is a waffle master so I'm biased). We ordered the avocado BLT and the free run egg sandwich for ourselves. Both were delicious and ingredients were fresh. They source their bread from Bon Ton bakery and coffee from The Columbian...bread and coffee were on point! Great place to come for a quick brunch. Will be back to try their pizza!

The server said that they've opened similar restaurants in larger cities like Toronto but Edmonton is their first venture into a "smaller market". The brunch menu was interesting with some unique features and some typical offerings. I had the Pork Bennie, for $18.00 in 2024. The prices are quite reasonable for the type and quantity of the food. My bennie was good. My only criticism is that a special house ketchup would have been a nice touch. The service was excellent and we had a nice view of Gateway Blvd out the window. The coffee includes endless refills which is good because the cups were not very large. I'm sure the vibe is much different for dinner than brunch, but based on our experience, I'll definitely return.

My wife and I both ordered the Chandru Special for $17.50. It's a crepe with bacon and eggs inside plus some cheese slices melted on top. There was a side of fresh fruit. The presentation was somewhat lacking as the cheese slices made it look like something you find at your children's birthday party. The dish definitely needed some sauce to help it down. At least the fruit was good. Our server was very skilled at tunnel vision as she didn't see us even when walking right by our table. Eventually we caught her and got a refill for our coffee. She was pleasent enough when she arrived but definitely didn't want to do refills. On a more positive note, my friend ordered an omelet which came with potatoes that looked like thick potato chips. They looked good and he liked them. If I return it will be because I am in the area and can't find a better place. In other words, three stars out of five.
