Ok, upon entering we were confused as to why the nice, long, spacious bar was not utilized and instead high top cocktail tables were pushed in front of it. We were sat at a much too small round table, the menu does not describe what each dish has on it, but it does take the time to mention that the chef won't change anything. My wife wanted a turkey burger but was told no changes can be made (she just wanted it plain. We looked over the menu and ordered. As we were speaking to our server, he literally walked away mid sentence as he answered a text or call he was getting. Food came, my burger had balsamic vinegar on top of the bun (not mentioned in the description) about 4-5 oz of overcooked beef. My wife's eggs had some sort of dry seasoning (Italian?) all over them, also not mentioned in the description. Anyway, we decided to pay and leave. To their credit, the manager wouldn't let us pay as we ate nothing, and she was very polite. Tried to offer us something else. Both ladies were very nice about it. Sweet Tea was great. We totally recommend Toaste of Augusta. We both had the chicken and waffles which was delicious. The portions are huge so come with an appetite. The chicken and waffles were a 10/10!! I regret not reading all the reviews before visiting Toaste. I glanced at the menu and thought, okay, Fine Dining...booked a table and on we went for Sunday Brunch at 10:30 am. We arrived a few minutes after our reservation due to the fact that we were going by signage rather than actual numerical address (lesson learned). Robert Irving of Restaurant Impossible could turn this place around! I heard his voice in my head for the entire meal experience. We were warmly greeted and seated promptly. Everyone was welcoming and super friendly. The atmosphere was lovely at first glance. Unfortunately, the experience deteriorated from that first impression. I ordered a brewed coffee, my companion a water while we perused the menu. 30 minutes later, still no coffee, no water, no explanation. I asked and then waited another 10 minutes before stating, I would have a cappuccino instead. Our food came and what a disappointment. The $36 steak was cooked to MR, as ordered but, was it was gray, it did not have a sear. The hash browns were clearly frozen premade, and the toast was griddled in butter. My friend had the $25 house shrimp and grits , good flavor, but tiny little salad shrimp. Back to the water and coffee order, they came after our food was delivered. The $6 cappuccino came to the table and once I took a sip I discovered it was a powdered mix, I sent it back and they replaced it with the original $5 brewed coffee. Apparently, they had trouble with the brewed coffee maker, but, had managed to get it working in the end. I was grateful, it was a lovely cup albeit late to the game. I visited the ladies room to wash my hands after my meal and was surprised that the door would not lock - this was a single water closet - As I exited, I informed the next lady and offered to stand by the door for her privacy. There was a lot of storage in the common hallway area, this is unsightly and not indicative of fine dining. This needs to be cleared accordingly. I returned to the table in time to pay the bill. I was surprised to see we had been charged for ice water. Our bill (with tip) was just under $100 USD for two waters, a bad cappuccino, a coffee, steak & eggs, and a shrimp & grits. I do not feel the quality of the meal warranted these prices. While there, the staff although friendly, did not seem purposeful, the kitchen staff was on their cell phone in one one hand and cooking with the other. Toaste needs to invest in a high quality exhaust fan as there was a lot of cooking smoke from the griddle, there was a heavy cloud of smoke hoving at the ceiling, and I left smelling of food. I do hope that management takes note of this constructive criticism, and makes the necessary improvements to not only the space, but, the quality of the food. The potential here is great. read more

My husband and I we're searching for a place to have breakfast at first we were going to go to Cracker Barrel, but my husband took me downtown and I don't know how he found this place. When we got downtown we had a really hard time finding the place on Maps. We walked around the block and had to actually call to find out where they were, when we got there we were definitely confused. The signage outside says the event bar and something about reservations on the door. I definitely think they should fix their signage and how they market the place. It's was very confusing. When we finally sat down we were shocked to see the prices of the items on the menu. Each entree was at least $25, which is honestly ridiculous, I asked for a lemonade and it was $4. I ordered the chicken and waffles and my husband ordered the salmon croquettes and grits. My food was good, but my husbands salmon and grits had absolutely no flavor, like salt was missing. With the entree we got a side of slimy eggs, I didn't even try to eat them because of that. Also while we were here we had about 3 different waitresses waiting on us, which was weird. The time that it took to get our food was about 18 -19 mins. It was kind of disturbing to see the cook walk in and out the kitchen and see him sit at the bar on his phone. I really hope he washed his hands back there. Also the restaurant was hot, not warm, hot. Also the music in the restaurant is not age appropriate. Just saying because while we were there, there was kids in the establishment. Would I come back probably not. The food is overpriced, average. read more

I'd hate to be the one to break it to y'all, but this place is NOT worth it. Sure, it's decorated really nice and seems to be really "upscale", but no, I just couldn't get behind the food and amount of money they charge for those extra regular meals. $161 for two people?! They really lost their minds. There's no line of Executive, Head, or Sous Chefs with culinary degrees in their kitchen. Judging from the food, it's just a cook who's doing the best he/she can. I've been to numerous Upscale Gourmet restaurants and I know exactly what I'm going to get for my money, and this wasn't it. We will not be returning. And I really hope they do something about their incredibly forgetful/unorganized staff members. And also their horrible women's restroom with clogged toilets and HALF of a swinging door to their stalls. Plus their $1(almost empty, watered down)soap and zero paper towels. That part was really unbelievable. But sure.... 2 stars, because it LOOKS nice. read more

The food was very expensive and not good. The chicken and waffles lacked flavor. My friend's French toast was burnt. The yogurt was plain Greek with no flavor. We never got a refill on our water. Cup of coffee was $5. My friend's shrimp and grits was GOOD. The bathroom was nasty. The inside gives luxury but the actual food was flavorless like I'm watching my cholesterol. Hidden gem... they have the best shrimp and grits! The french toast was just as delicious. The unlimited mimosas are different in a good way...the recipe has you wanting more. Atlanta prices and Augusta tastes. We went at 6 pm when they opened & they were still setting everything up. It took over 30 minutes for the food to come & we were the only ones there. While waiting for the food, I went to the bathroom to wash my hands. I had trouble opening the bathroom door, then when I went in, the 'doors' to the stall were so high, you could pretty much see the toilet from the sink. There were no paper towels and the soap was so watered down that it didn't lather. Then our food finally came. My husbands noodles weren't cooked all the way through & mine had a hair in it. When my husband went to wash his hands, he heard them complaining in the kitchen about whether or not it was a hair. A lady came to my table and told me that she thought it was a fiber from the napkins and not a hair because the chefs are all bald. My husband ordered pasta and honestly I've had better pasta from the house. I had shrimp scampi which was good the second time around with no hair in it. We both got waters and our total was $56. This place was recommended because it was new and the atmosphere was new for Augusta downtown area. I saw pictures of the food and drinks on Facebook and was excited to see what the hype was all about. Not only was my drink late but I was given a poor excuse saying it's busy I been to busy larger restaurants and still received my food and drinks in a timely manner. Shit Red Lobster larger and I receive every product ordered with no wait. Poor excuses and the food was tasteless many people in our party had to return there plate either the noodle was too dry or the food was over cooked. The person who was at my table ask the waitress for seasoning. Can I add how do you mess up lemon pepper wings and fries, which took half a hour to receive. The end about my horrible night at this restaurant. I asked for a drink which is expensive but I'm paying for the presentation cool. After a hour I receive a regular cup and the waitress say this the same drink but we ran out of the ingredients. So you are telling me that it's 9:30 and this restaurant ran out of lemon for my water and a ingredient that's part popular drink on the menu. I simple replied no thank you to that cup but wish she would of asked before sitting a drink she knew I didn't want when I ordered another popular drink. The place is nice and we had a great conversation with the bartender. Problem 1 the prices are too high a group walked out because of the prices. 15 and up for a drink(margarita) and the paradise drink which comes in a pineapple (20). This particular night was advertised as taco night unlimited margaritas. The food was horrible absolutely not seasonings and definitely no taco seasonings. Chefs nachos 17 the meat was salad shrimp, ground beef, chicken. The taco platter 22 four tacos, beans and rice. We complained to server when asked about the food and yet the owner/manager never came to our table. In fact he made himself a plate of food and sat down. So, basically spent my 40 and not worth but 20 with drink. But, we all have different taste and i hope they work out the kinks. But, as a manager you always come talk to your customers about an issue. read more

Hey, I don't know what the previous reviews were about but the menu was GREAT! Had the baked Avocado and the AMAZING French Toast! Is is pricy but traveling across the US, this is well worth the price. The new location is not in Yep yet but it's in the 700 block of Broad next to the Miller Theater.
